When the child is young, it's not them that's actually doing the rejecting, but they will surely carry the guilt and blame of it forever. It's heartbreaking to me, because it happened to my granddaughter and our family. After going back to court, almost four years ago, she's doing very well and enjoys her time with us. She'll turn 11 this month and she's recently told her Daddy that she would like to come live with him, but she's still not allowed to speak to us if we see her out somewhere with her Mama and stepdad. I worry every day that I am going to be that passed away grandmother tbat my grandson feels sadness and guilt about. I fully intend to write a letter for him to explain that it was not his fault and I enjoyed all of our many, many, many beautiful days together from the day I looked intovhis wide brown eyes at birth and said "Hi, Jayden". Until he was 14 when his father took him from me. It's been 2 and 1/2 yrs. I'm only 68. I hope I will be here for him when he escapes the horror of alienation. I wake up every night with anxiety.
