Beautiful to discover this video just now. A welcome relief after days of crying due to a profound a sense of loss and grief that I could not have imagined. I always knew it would be difficult and really hoped I would go before The Queen because I somehow could not imagine a world without her presence. I am reminded of another documentary which you should all see. She speaks of the Crown and to paraphrase says, "There are disadvantages to a Crown, but they are quite important things" and as she says this it is with an every growing radiant and knowing smile. Also if you are very perceptive you know that she is not speaking of artistry or extrinsic value but of a much deeper meaning to do with history, tradition and ritual. I live on the continent and due to circumstances quite out of my control I was unable to travel to England to be physically part of all that is happening. So I must make do with the BBC live stream which I stop watching and feel compelled to return to watching news and interviews toggling back and forth also ti the live feed from Westminster. It is like a meditation watching thousands of people silently walk stop and say farewell to the Queen. The changing of the Guard is sombre, somehow mystical and with a timing, gravitas and grace that is quite mesmerising. I have probably watched this changing of the Guard 30 or 40 times and cannot look away. As a boy I watched the coronation on tele transmitted across the Atlantic. Queen Elizabeth and I grew older and old together. She is embedded in my consciousness and my sense of loss is quite extraordinary. My mother who died 2007 was born the same year as the Queen and I 20 years later. King George VI still reigned. When my mother died it felt that somehow the earth had shifted or that I had shifted in the universe??? I feel that again in a different way but my sense of loss seems somehow greater now. Maybe because I am that much older or perhaps because the Queen and I had a distant relationship which was one sided. She never knew I existed but I certainly knew of her existence. Grief is such an odd thing and probably different for everyone. Thank you for sharing this video ...... This is how I best remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 💔💔

Regarding 1:08, the famous Black Prince's Ruby from 1367 is actually a spinel gemstone rather than a true ruby. Spinels were earlier confused with rubies until 1783 when their chemical compositions were able to differentiate them.
Thanks. You taught me something today.
Black Prince was the people's Prince.
That could be done in 1783? I'm quite impressed with that
@@MagicRon97 Thank you for your comment. It was French Mineralogist Jean Baptiste Louis Rome de Lisle who was able to identify the differences between rubies and spinels in 1783. A spinel is composed of magnesium aluminum oxide whereas a ruby is composed of chromium aluminum oxide.
He was called the black prince (Edward 111 eldest son Edward of Woodstock) because of his brutality in war, nothing to do with colour or what country he came from
Fascinating more please👀👀👀
She explained it broad and clear.
If you listen to recordings of people from around the country from that time (apart from remote and rural areas with strong dialects) they all spoke clearly within their own regional accents. Some of the cockney music hall performers used vowel sounds that now sound posh, "het" for "hat", etc.
Remember seeing this and other Royal Jewels when I went to the Tower of London, it never shows up quite right in videos or on TV but the way they sparkle is something you really need to see in person to understand. It’s like a Kaleidoscope.

The crown is a possession of all the British people
I like how she is calling her relatives as they names, like we would call them. It’s crazy to think how she’s related to all of them
She's not though. Not all of the monarchs of England have belonged to the same bloodline. That's why there have been different houses (dynasties), the current one being Windsor, which have had origins in different countries. @@thekingsdaughter4233 Pointing out the floors in other country's monarchies doesn't alter the fact that there are many millions of people in the UK that would rather see an end to this out-dated and unjust institution that is corrupt to it's core. It once seemed as though she would outlive us all. The world will never feel the same again. The Commonwealth's Grandmother is gone. God save the Queen. God save the King. Long live the King!
@@vivo-audio A lot changed with George VI, especially in the monarchy. Queen Elizabeth the Wise didn't spawn from thin air, she was inspired to serve with utmost dedication by her father overcoming his stutter. King Charles III and Prince William have lived with the benefit of her council their entire lives.
The period of British Monarchy we experience is not the same as George the Mad King. It isnt the same as King Henry VIII. It isnt even the same as Queen Victoria.
This era began with King George VI, and it is a radical departure from the past. They are our ambassadors, a source of stability, and they do not get to have an opinion in politics; except as one desperate act to stop a Hitlerian figure from rising to power or sone other threat to our Constitution. They are sworn above all else to defend and respect that.
I could listen to HRH Queen Elizabeth, talk all day.

@@ziyaaddhorat Or did the Government live off her…? Btw, the yearly costs of the crown are greatly exceeded by the revenue from people buying «royal» souvenirs from mostly immigrant shops.
That, and without adding all revenue from London tourists & countless movies and TV shows with her presence somehow.
Edit: The revenue from gift shops isnt compared to the general upkeep, which is vastly larger. However the tourism does.
