Hello Catherine I want to thank you for your videos. I am injured and housebound and your adventures mean a great deal to me. You are living my dream. I watch every morning and it gives me Hope. My heart is with you. Happy holidays. God bless you.
Lol Cat. @4:45 Huddled up in a bubbly coat... like a penguin... saying "its a little chilly in this area". Next shot is of Joey walking barefeet and in shorts. That man is built resilient like hobbit from lord of the rings.
Kinda looks like Acadia, breathtaking scenery. Bears on the beach, avoiding high tides, great adventure! "Gentleman"Joey, what a good soul he is for helping you! Thanks for sharing!
Duchess Christine, It really does remind me of Acadia National Park in Maine. The only difference is the tides in Acadia come much faster. We were out walking on the beach, with the granite cliff rocks and the ocean on both sides of us. We noticed how quickly the water was coming in, but we were so far up the beach that the shore was disappearing quickly, so we had to climb up high on the rocks, or get washed out to sea! Yikes! Scary memory!!
It's on about the same latitude too. One of the major differences I see between our forests is yours has more deciduous trees where ours is leaning heavily towards Evergreen. The best part, BOTH are SPECTACULAR! A beautiful place to add to any bucket list! Our water is warmer, and it seemed to me that we had more sand on our beaches, but I sort of like that Rocky outcrop look that Maine and Newfoundland has . You are right about the title exchange though! Curious how yours could be so extreme, yet for us those extreme title exchanges are farther north, along the inside passage on the west of Canada and on up into Alaska. We have some Inland clams that would absolutely shock you with their size. We don't have any Lobster though so you'll have to bring that yourself.
Catherine, You live such a magical life! I've been,on that trail. When you come out of the forest, on to the beach, it takes your breath away. It's amazing how the trees litterally touch the ocean. It's so gorgeous there! Thank you for sharing this magical experience! Blessings and Peace to you.
What a beautiful place to camp out in. Cute seeing bear and deer paws in the sand . Nice seeing sea otters. Glad Joey went to go back to get your camera.
Ever since I started watching your channel I've wondered if you'd ever come up here to my home state, specifically the western part of the state. I am the 5th generation of my family to call it home. I'm so happy for you that you have discovered our beautiful Olympic coastline. My Dad always called this area, "God's country". Be well and thank you, once again, for sharing your adventures with all of us.
I agree with your father's assessment. I visited the area for a week last month. It's a trip I'll never forget. Rugged beaches, Cape Flattery, the rainforest, and so much more. I'll definitely be back at some point in the future.
Born and raised in Grays Harbor County and was blessed to have lived 17 years on the North Shore of Lake Quinault within the Olympic National Park boundaries as an adult. I'm retired now in Olympia. I enjoy exploring the beautiful scenery found in our other states, but really appreciate how much we have here in Western Washington, including 3 diverse National Parks.
@@LarryManiccia If you come back, try to catch a ferry to Orcas Island. During the ferry ride on a clear day, you can see the Olympic Mountains on one side and the Cascade Mountains on the other. God is good!
Wow!!! That is stunning. Could very well be the most beautiful place in Washington and, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. Am living vicariously through you now. Great video, Catherine.
Thank you for the upload. I grew up in western Washington and have spent so much time along its coast. Watching this was like being transported home for a bit. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. Again, thank you.
This brings back so many memories: been here 5 times over the years, first time 1968 ( at 18 YO). Coming from Dallas, I had no idea this park existed - was recommended by a hotel clerk! North Texas is flat, so this was an incredible change of scenery: the joke there is, On a clear day, you can see Nebraska! My last trip, in 2000, was with my wife and daughters, via Amtrak's Coast Starlight from LA. (That's a great trip all it's own). To say they were awed by the beauty and variety is an understatementI Your programs are uniformly excellent, but this one transcends excellence!!! Thank You!
I've backpacked a longer version of this trail (6 days, 5 nights). It wasn't easy that's for sure. The bald eagles were plentiful and watching them fishing for breakfast was incredible. Very different than forest, mountain backpacking.
I live here in Forks. I walk Rialto beach at least once a week for exercise. The Ozzett loop is one of my favorites. I walked it a couple months ago and ran into a Mountain Lion. I was walking the HOH Rainforest a few days ago in heavy heavy rain. The trail was full of water and two giant trees came crashing down. Oh and did you see the petroglyphs on the beach rocks ?
We lived just south of that rainforest there on the peninsula. It is very beautiful, but with 80" of rain a year and very little sunshine, I was ready to leave. Also, Cape Alava is the western most point of the lower 48 and the western terminus for the Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT).
Another great video. Loved it Catherine. Sorry it rained on you. You packed up great food with you. The subway looked good. The Quesadilla looked good too! Yummy ! Lol! Thank you Catherine for another great video.
I have been fortunate enough to have hiked the whole coast hike from the mouth of the Hoh river, which is the southernmost part of Olympic park north to the Point of the Arches which is outside the northernmost point of the park. Aprx 55 miles total including where you have to divert inland a bit then back out to Ruby beach where the northern portion of the hike starts. I’ve done the southern and northern portions individually numerous times both in summer and in winter. Love that area of my home state. Cheers from Anacortes…
The deer had his tongue out as he probably had a fever caused by a severe case of EHD/Blue Tongue disease. The infected are usually found by water and is always caught during the Fall. Great video!
I've never camped at Ozette, so it was a real treat to follow along with you and Joey. The Olympic coast is wild and exciting blend of both woods and ocean beaches. That's great you saw sea otters, a Bald eagle, comorants, bear tracks and scat, pelicans, bull kelp, and sea stacks offshore. Jenny
Cat! You can’t sign off your videos without your beautiful “bye bye.” I always get a lump in my throat because it’s like a kiss and the sweet “goodnight” from my mom when i was a little girl. Ah, anyway, so great to see the PNW beach & ocean & animals.
The giant evergreen trees, lush green forests, stunning coastline, and wildlife were captured with such deft and grace. When you shared that it “feels like home,” you shared a part of yourself that emitted through your lens and your voice. The warmth, excitement, and calmness of familiarity. Thank you.
I’m from WA and would love to take credit for preserving this place - but Ozette is part of Olympic National Park, so we’ve gotta thank the whole country.
Wowza! Stunning sunset! Soaring eagle, pelicans and playful otters! This was packed with beauty and wildlife! 🦅🌅🧡 Joey is the GOAT exploration man! 🐐🥾😎 Y'all make a great adventure team!! Have a safe week Catherine and Joey! 🙏🌞
Catherine, Thank you for such an incredible video of you and Joey's amazing and challenging backpack on the Olympic Coast! Also, thank you for bringing back wonderful memories. Here's one of them that I'm sure you can identify with. I camped at Ruby Beach about 25 years ago, and loved it! Its beauty is unique in many ways. Climbing the obstacle course of fallen giant redwoods bleached by the sun was fun. I felt so relaxed and peaceful being perched atop one of them, my face warmed by the sun, with the beach of brilliantly colored stones, seashells and sea glass spread out below me like a magic carpet. The next morning during low tide I joined hundreds of seabirds for a walk on the smooth, wet sand at the water's edge. Looking out through the morning mist at the waves, vibrant colors of aqua, orange, vermillion and ruby flashed against the dark background of a volcanic rock, visible between the intervals of the crashing waves. I waded out to investigate. Waist deep in the chilly waters, I arrived at the rock. Clinging to it were large jewel colored sea anemones and starfish!
I can report Ruby Beach remains as stunning now as it was 25 years ago. Was just there last month and was blown away by its beauty. Was treated to a tremendous sunset that I was able to capture on camera. Will definitey return again at some point in the future.
I hiked the Pacific coastline for the first time this summer-- Cape Perpetua area in Oregon and Olympic NP First Beach and Third Beach in Washington. Your video showed me there is so much more to see. Thank you! Now, I feel compelled to go back again!
Joey and Catherine teamed up--the dream team. So glad to see both of you still out there getting er dun. I am anxiously awaiting the next beer spill in Joey's pack!
Fabulous video! That beach is my kind of heaven! I love working with driftwood and there was so much down there! I loved the different formation of the rock stacks, what a heavenly place to be!
Been on the trails 3 times over the years both beaches alava rock and sandy beautiful places I stayed on the beach at beach 3 2 nights and at the kahlaloch lodge one night and in forks several times over the years thanks for sharing this lots of fond memories of this sacred but beautiful place 12:20

Hello 👋 Catherine, sincere thanks for sharing this Beautifully filmed video. It's been over 30 years since I've been back to my home State of Washington. You're video brought back some pleasant memories. The very best to you Catherine. Always stay safe and healthy out there. Keep hiking 🚶♀️. 🤗
Thanks for the video. That is a trail/ Beach that my late brother and I had planned on hiking back in the mid 90's before he had gotten sick with cancer. He loved the Olympic Peninsula ever since he was stationed at Bangor Naval Sub Base. Although we did backpack some of the Olympics Park on my vacation trips there to visit. And yes we did have some vocal and evidence of Sasquatch activity on one trip in the Park. So please beware of the forest people there. Definitely one of the most wildest places to backpack through. Most beautiful ecosystems I've been in.
We did the Alaska “Inside Passage” cruise, then took the car ferry over to the Olympic Peninsula and drove all through it. Have to say it was a very pleasant surprise.
Always wanted to visit Olympic but it just never transpired. But thanks to this magnificent production, I felt as though I was there. Top shelf, as usual, Catherine. It's good that this region was preserved as a national park, it's uniquely inspiring. Cheers.
Really great job Catherine, looked like and reminded me some of the Big Sur coastline. So far Washington is the most beautiful place I’ve ever backpacked. You have to try and hike there next supper in the northern cascades on the PCT if at all possible. If you decide to do that, I can give you some help on where to go. Cheers.
The Olympic peninsula beaches are stunning and rugged. They are not a lie on the sand and soak up the sun beach. But they are a photographers paradise. Thanks for sharing your adventures
Very nice! I am a huge fan of the Ozette area. I first backpacked to Sand Point as a teenager with a friend of mine. He and I made several trips there, even taking his sister and cousin along on one of them. Later, my wife and I took our two daughters there for several trips. On other trips, many other family members and friends got introduced to packing out and camping at the Sand Point spot by us. I cannot recall how many times I’ve camped at Sand Point. I do know I camped twice at Cape Alava. Once with our two daughters and a friend of theirs. (Poor wife missed that trip due to a surgery that put back packs out of the question.) The second trip to Cape Alava, I made with our oldest grandson in 2005. We camped there for two days that time. That was my last pack trip on that loop. I did go back in 2015 to hike the loop with two of our nieces who had long wanted to make that hike. On that one, I took some ashes of my teenage friend from those teen year pack trips to leave at Sand Point. Many memories of the area. And that surf can sneak up on a person, alright! I had to laugh (in sympathy) at your close call with the waves. Glad your camera didn’t drown. Thanks for the video and the walk down memory lane.
Had to cancel my Ozzett experience this year. Hoping my health returns. Thank you for a beautiful pre tour of next year. Sure wish our paths had crossed years ago. You'd make a great friend for trail and travel.
Absolutely stunning!! One of my favorites ( of many) you’ve shown. I definitely have to get to that area as it’s the only place I haven’t been to. Thanks Cat and Joey for sharing this show of creation!!
You've outdone yourself again, Cat. This one is close to my heart as well, and it is so, skillfully, done. I'm glad you had Gentleman Joey to help with the cliff climbing, and it's better to have two against the bears!
We have been backpacking the Olympic wilderness Coast for 50 years. Try Third Beach looking south to The Giants Graveyard. Then over Taylor Point and Scott’s Bluff with fantastic sea stacks and island silloettes. Continue to Strawberry Point and Toleak Point.
I never tire of your adventures. I have always wanted to go to the Oregon coast. Now I want to go to the Washington coast! So beautiful! I enjoyed it so much viewing it through your lens. Thank you!
Port Angeles local here in Washington. The Olympic National Park is an absolute gem and everyone should see it at least once or our local Sol Duc Hot springs
Great video of a great hike. I saw a bear with cubs right where you camped. They are pretty harmless animals in my experience--but who knows. Not like hiking in Alaska where the bears are decidedly dangerous. Good for you to go solo. I’ve been full time solo (and full time RN) in an SUV for 5 years-a Lexus GX470-and we’ve crossed paths more than once. Not always a bed of roses but I’m happier than ever on average past five years. Life is short and the nomadic lifestyle is the best way to experience more of it.
I found u because of Joey and since he has been doing his thing it is nice to see him on others channels… well shot and edited video with stunning scenery…. Be well..
Such a beautiful rugged coastline. Another area we need to visit. My wife and I have lived in California almost 40 years and have yet to get up north. Thank You for “taking us”there Cat. Another trip on our list.
Breathtaking Pacific coast. Being from the East coast the ocean rock formations are different & beautiful from what I have seen. Great video and hope there is more to come. 😊👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
The Washington and Oregon coastline is so rugged and dramatic and wild! Imagine being a sea otter and feeling right at home in this place! Thank you for sharing Cat
Thank you Catherine, that place looked other worldly compared to Florida where I am. Everything was unique and awe inspiring. Hope you had fun. Stay well and be safe.

Port Angeles local here in Washington. The Olympic National Park is an absolute gem and everyone should see it at least once or our local Sol Duc Hot springs
Beautiful place, it's going on my list!
Beautiful and the best part NO ads! Our kind of video😊
So beautiful.❤
Great video of a great hike. I saw a bear with cubs right where you camped. They are pretty harmless animals in my experience--but who knows. Not like hiking in Alaska where the bears are decidedly dangerous. Good for you to go solo. I’ve been full time solo (and full time RN) in an SUV for 5 years-a Lexus GX470-and we’ve crossed paths more than once. Not always a bed of roses but I’m happier than ever on average past five years. Life is short and the nomadic lifestyle is the best way to experience more of it.
That sunset is absolutely breathtaking. Amazing.
Beautiful country and enjoying watching now and you guys be safe out 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎❤️ and your videos are awesome Catherine

WOW AWESOME another amazing hike. 👏 what a beautiful sunset on the beach.
