The Expertise System is a progression feature in The Division 2 that allows you to improve the maximum performance of high-end or better quality items. It is a long-term progression system that is designed to reward players for continuing to play the game.
To use the Expertise System, you must first become proficient with an item. To do this, you must earn kill experience points (XP) with the item equipped. Once you have reached Proficiency Rank 10 with an item, you are considered "proficient" with that item.
Once you are proficient with an item, you can increase its expertise level by donating items of the same type. The higher your expertise level, the more you can upgrade your items.
To increase your expertise level, you must go to the Recalibration Station and select the Expertise tab. Then, select the gear category that you want to increase your expertise in. You can then donate items of the same type to increase your expertise level.
Each expertise level increases the maximum performance of your items by 1%. For example, if you have an expertise level of 10, you can increase the maximum performance of your items by 10%.
The Expertise System is a great way to improve your gear and make your character more powerful. It is a long-term progression system, but it is worth the effort. With a little effort you can easily increase your character's performance.

Knew this already but I get sooooo bored with Warlords of NY and it takes me forever to complete it because I just hate doing it. So I just take my time and it'll come soon or later or never. I'm expertise 18 right now and so far it's been good enough. I'm really not sure if I'll try to get passed 20

Does it matter what WORLD setting you have?
Personally, I think the dev’s made it take way too many points/materials to lvl up in expertise. I’m above SHD lvl 2000 and still only expertise lvl 13 and not on all weapons or builds. Especially the amount of exotic components is ridiculous. I used to play 4-5 hrs a day until the expertise system was introduced. Making us grind even longer was a mistake on the dev’s part IMHO.
I respect your opinion. The reality of it is I believe is that if they are continuing to push content out for the game they needed something that people can grind for a long time and I don’t blame them for it.
@@AKingsCreationyeah word I agree bc at first I was saying the same thing as smoke about it taking sooo long but at this point 5yrs later I have practically every gear/weapon I favor, my shd was maxed a long time ago & there wasn’t much left to drive the grind.. but I didn’t play steady the last year or so so coming back to expertise has revived something of the grind for me like of SHD days! I’m making builds/using skills I’ve never vibed with & have tried so many weapons I rarely cared to touch! I just ran through a new character just for stash space & b4 I saw this video, when I hit 40 & said ohh well.. Will ya look at all those extra shd points 😏 I thought I wonder how people are working this into the grind & found your video 😂 I’ll use this trick for the more annoying skills/weapons for sure thought lol

I'm SHD 3100 and just made my first alt a few days ago lmao.
Also make a habit of fast SHD-farming by doing rescue missions over and over. They gives the highest amount of xp and are very quick done. Once no more of them show up just reset the control points and start over. You'll level up your SHD very fast this way!
I feel the same, but noticed he said you have to be at level 1000-1200 for it to be efficient.
... So, this method may not be useful for people like us (I'm level 250).
Nah gotta keep grinding at that level you haven’t even maxed your watch points need to focus on maxing all the watch attributes first

You forgot to mention a crucial detail.... reaching lvl 24 is not that big of a deal but getting your gear and weapons up to lvl 24 really is. You need a ton of exotic components and Protective Fabric and Receiver Components to get to lvl 24, especially from lvl 20 to 24. The amount of exotic components you need is completely insane. You need 135 exotic components for ONE item to lvl up from 10 to 24 which means that if you have a bad RNG you have to grind/farm every day for exotics for maybe a year to get everything to lvl 24.
Just do the math, if you want a complete build leveled up to 24. You have 6 gear items, 3 weapons, 2 skills and 1 specialization weapon. You want to lvl everything up to 24 which means 12 x 135 exotic items...= 1620 exotic components. They already reduced the drop rate of exotic components in the DZ.
And yeah you can buy exotic cashes at the DZ vendor but for that you need DZ credits which is quite difficult to get with so many cheaters in the DZ.
Farming for credits is easy but extracting them is a whole different ballgame. There are more cheaters than legit players in the DZ and they gladly take your credits, so.... 🤔 Happy farming...
Very valid part about the entirety of the expertise process. The exotic farming is tough and the grind is long.. that’s why it’s important for those who don’t have expertise 24 to strive for it now while the season is fresh and try to catch it before it jumps to 25 if they can start with the important (weapons) first it should be doable.
@@AKingsCreation to be honest in my opinion the whole maximization etc should be like in Div1. Everyone found it way more rewarding and even the low lvl players had been given a chance to get to the max lvl and so on so that they could play with and against high lvl players. Now the low lvl players are being hunted by high lvl and cheaters. Most of the time me and my friends try to help low lvl but as soon as the cheaters enter the dz, the fun is over.
I've seen ppl upgrading their striker gear sets but i can't seem to find my striker gears on my expertise tab. Can you please walk me through?
@@zothana13 are you playing on console or pc? Sometimes scrolling down doesn't go the way it does usually on pc. If you play on pc scroll all the way down, click on the last item on the left. It will open, so click on ESC to go back and then use the 'down' arrow on your keyboard to scroll further down. Now you should be able to see the rest of your items. Hope this helps.

So I’m at 970 something got all the brand sets and sets In general done, couple of other gear done and all that’s left are guns, skills, and named Pieces should I do another character? cause it seems to be slowing down a lot especially with the named pieces

Nah I wouldn’t do a new character till like 1500+ 2000 preferably because you have to run a few of them at those levels and lower you will run countless characters. I would do countdown target what your missing and donate the weapons to itself for expertise

Good video. I see how this method levels up your shd level and I think I saw you transfering materials I don't know. But how does this level up expertise? I'm at level 13 expertise and I had to donate weapons and armor. What am I missing?
After you complete the new character through the campaign you get shd points for your watch depending on your main character SHD level. Then, after that you use the points on your watch to buy credits to buy cheapest mods from the vendors to deconstruct (most material gained) or just use all the points on printer fragments on your watch (fastest way to do it less materials gained) then buy shared blueprints and materials on your main and new character then finally donate printer fragments to the expertise

So it gives you SHD levels depending on what level you’re on? My group and i are at level 500, if we did this, would it equate to around 500 SHD points? Just alittle confused
No just 100
He is getting more because he is over level 1000 and maxed his watch. After level 1000 each level grants you a ressource point, rather than every fifth, hence it is efficient if you are well over level 1000.

once I completed all the watches I just started using them as mules and left them to 4x the SHD progress on my main agent when floor 10 was a thing. and if I remember correctly it only gave me like 200 requisition points at the time out of 1000 for maxing the watch… but you’re telling me if I do it again it’ll also give me the difference between between my current shade level and 1000 as well?

I would rather to complete and delete and complete and delete 1 Character than spend weeks farming for resources. Great Video!! The crazy thing is that I figured this out on my own by mistake lol by getting an exotic and going to her for the blue print and surprise: Share Resources with all Characters!
So just to confirm. Once I finish the New York expansion do I go back to the White House with my 2nd character I used to complete the expansion to purchase the shared materials blueprint or with my main character?
You buy them on the character you created, then use all the points on then character for printer fragments, then switch to main

I dont understand. I have a main character who has an shd level of 450. I create an alt and run through the campaign, buy those bps and Ill have a big chunk of SHD(for my main) to use when im done?
No I highly recommend you do a fast xp farm all the way to 1200 SHD minimum before you attempt to do this. Above 1000 shd you can additional shd points for the campaign completion anything below 1200 shd is not worth it trust me. Focus on getting 1200 SHD first

Yeah do some countdown runs for some exotics and also specific gear you want to target then what’s you got your first set you want complete. I’d start running some invaded missions, then after that you can start farming strictly for xp. By doing all the public executions on the open world map. Check out my previous video for that part

Yes that is correct
For those who are above 1800 shd it is worth doing new york runs. For those who are not above 1800 it is literally not worth it. Take your shd level and subtract it by 800. You wont get that much and u will ve doing new york runs for a VERY long time.
Shtttt you not wrong… but if you got that grind in you like I did at 1200 SHD you can run those characters to still save you time whether it’s 300 SHD - 1700SHD points after a run either way your saving yourself ALOT OF TIME
i grind up to 2800 SHD level then spam new character as much as i can, any method works fine if you're hardworking enough

I’m 530 maybe closer to 540 but I get 107 maybe a few more since I did it a couple days ago but I can grab at least 6000 worth of materials probably not getting anywhere near y’all but when I’m at 530 and have a higher expertise then a good amount of agents at 3000 or lower but I think it at least helps a lil I mean 4 hours for that much ain’t bad at all to me I recommend it to everyone

Not gonna lie I been putting this off. I’m SHD 3k and some change. Can’t remember exact number but bruhhh. I couldn’t bring myself to sit through the WONY story again. Only expertise 16 through normal grinding.

Both! Because you will get bored of doing it so I suggest do it a few times till you get bored, then increase your level. Rinse and repeat until max expertise
Focus on your level. You wont get much from doing it at that shd lvl

Just been looking at doing this and what's the reason you get printer filaments rather then money and buy mods, on 800 shd levels you can get and extra 1600 filaments
Just saves me the hassle that’s about it
You get 10:1 ratio on printer fil. 10 fil for 1 shd point.
Starting from 0 each pc gear or weapon requires 3000 printer fil to reach a proficient lvl.
Each proficient pc gets you to 200/200, 140/140 etc. As you progress, you will eventually make all gear and weapons which totally 377.
Buying mods and breaking down is a slow and time consuming process.
1000 shd points gets you 10,000 fil which will fill just over 3 pcs gear or weapon.
One trick to NY is running a sticky burn skill build. Many of the areas requires 1 shot to clear many if not all of the npc's. Amazing build and a huge time saver.
KVD has a good template that he uses for speedruns.
EP, wyvern BP, and Vile. I leaned heavier on skill damage but u can recal the attributes to adjust.
EDIT: sticky skill build for your buddy running you thru NY.
So, its also important to spend SHD points the best. That means conversion to filaments. But if you switch back to your primary account, you should first spend that on skills you use the most - both specialisation and support. If you have figured out the best wony keener-defeating build you might want to boost those skills first. Also, during goldenbullet and boost events, don't do WONY. You should be able to go up 400-500 levels in 2 weeks. Or about 10 SHD per hour.
IMO 2400 is a minimum for WONY.
Why would someone do 400-500 levels in 2 weeks when they can do that in 5 hours or 1 day of running WONY new characters around 1200-1800 SHD
@@AKingsCreation you're presuming they are already at 2k if Wony gives them 1200 SHD. If they are below 800 WONY won't give them any SHD to convert. If they are at 1200, wony only gives them 400 SHD. WONY itself won't boost your account SHD level until you beat Keener, so that 5 hours cost you 50 SHD levels. Suppose you are at 2k before a golden bullet. Scenario: during September you play 10 hrs a day for 28 days - golden bullet for 14 (gives you 1400 more), then WONY for 14. Every WONY will require about 1 hour to convert and raise expertise levels, get the exotic, and a touch of farming. You have time to do 11 in a week.
Thats 1,200 per round × 11 if Wony is done first.
That's also 2,600 per round x 11 if goldenbullet is done first.
So, after 28 days you either have earned
13,200 +1,400= 14,600 SHD(WONYfirst),
or
1,400 + 28,600= 30,000 SHD(goldenbulletfirst)
Since each SHD gives you 10 filaments,
Each expertise increment is 300 filaments or 30 SHD
And each item is 10 increments or 300 SHD, my suggestion reduces the number of times you need to run WONY by about 50%.
Sure if Golden Bullet was year-round, but I do get your point.

This is great, but there`s another method. With free SHD lvls instead buying 3D Printing plastic, you want to buy credits (1st option). And then buy mods from WH vendor, that costs 4515 currency. It`s much longer than just straight forward spending SHD on plastic, but in this version you gain *25% MORE* plastic.
P.S.: pin would be nice
It’s definitely a lot longer to do that method and makes the process a little more tedious. But yeah I know about that method and yet I still refuse to show it because the method requires more time, effort, space requirements. I like showing this method because
#1 simple
#2 doesn’t require multiple alts to jump around on just for additional inventory space
#3 it’s still saves hella time regardless of the additional 25% pf
didn't see this one, otherwise I wouldn't have posted mit.. but it's only 16.6% more.. but if you can figure out running a macro to hit the spacebar continuously and then V continuously, it doesn't add that much time. and I estimate over 10 runs of NY this save you 1 run which for me averages 5 to 5.5hrs.

If u dont spend the shd points in the main one those points are also share in the second one. U can spend them in the second one and u will still have them in the main one. Rigth now have over 6800 shd point in the main character and if i want to do another one i will have over 7000 points to spend or more i havent check

Yup I was hesitant to run characters because of the backup calls and waiting for help and time it takes from start to finish. But I made my mind up and just did it I was expertise 10 and now 22. Two more runs and I am at 25 babe babe......Ran a character everyday for 6 days.... my shd is 6500. In the end I actually enjoyed it seeing what build i could put together by scrounging loot crates. Hahaha 😆

New to the game....37 days played...Does creating a new character and replaying the WoNY DLC's SHD carry over to your main character? Does all the resources and materials carry over to your main character as well? I'm currently 1475 on the watch. I know 1800 is the preferred level.
Also my current Exp Lvl is only 11 and really not sure how to increase it. Many thanks in advance.
Yeah, once you play the new character through campaign again, go to the White House, buy the shared materials and shared blueprints from the npc I showed you in the video. Use the points on your new character watch for just the print fragments then switch to main to begin the donating materials to the expertise system

The best way to lvl up fast is to follow my previous video how to get to 0-100 in about 5 hours for this season. So basically for you since you lvl 200 I’d say still use the method because it’s the fastest but it will take you probably 10 hours maybe less or more but do it every day and you should be able to do this method effectively within a month or two. And not at the moment
Go to the world map find people for public execution throw seekers out, upgrade your seekers as you go multi seekers are the best to use this is the least hard work for the max XP at expt lev 3 you should see enemy fly in the air!!
I did it at lvl 2000 and it was ok, but not great. The higher your watch it the better it gets. 1 big plus is that if you get 4 mules, everytime your main lvls you get 5 scavenging points.

It’s all depends on your main accounts SHD level! I’m SHD 1504 when I complete NYC I end up with about 550 SHD points, not worth the time. Get your main account to around 3500 then the points you get will be worth it
That’s still good that’s definitely worth the time. Grind 550 SHD levels normally and see which is most efficient

Yeah you have to buy the shared account materials and blueprints on the new character then use the SHD points on that new character then switch to your main to donate them at the recalibration station.
@@AKingsCreation I dont believe you have to switch back to your main character to spend the points at the table. Atleast I didn't. Also i believe you need to buy the blue prints for your main character (only have to do this once) and you have to buy the BP for your secondary character everytime you do it.

My question is how many characters you have to do to atleas reach level 20 expertise because I was on level 14 only needed a few to level up to 15 made a new character and use all my points and only give me just enough to level up to 15 so how many character per level does it take
It depends on your SHD level if you have 3000+ it takes 1 to 2 new characters if below could take 3-5+

19+ missions in 5hours, I`ve just spent the best part of an hour taking down Kajika, I`ve just reached 3100shd this week and I`m stuck on lvl 13 expertise with about 30+ weapon left to donate on, most of then are rarer than rocking horse crap or are locked behind pvp, I dont see why pve players should be penalised because they dont like the dz.

Like I knew about the resources from another character but not the resources to level up so much faster. You're the 1st I've seen even show that. So some are saying don't do this until your at least 1,500 others 2,500 SHD. So let me do quick math. I am currently level 485 SHD, I have been playing this game for 6 months now. that means I average about 20SHD per week, I am going a bit faster now since I have better weapons, Armor and builds so I am probable doing double that about 40 SHD per week, that's with me playing about 1-2 hours 3 times a week and about 4 hours on a Saturday. If I were to take that 1,500 on the low side seriously to be worth it, that means I need another 1,015 SHD levels. That's approximately 25 and half weeks of SHD farming or another 6 months of grinding. LMAO, so for us dads and husbands that have 60+ hour work weeks and only get to play limited time that means were just not meant to get max Proficiency, as it seems seasons increase the proficiency by a percent, FYI am currently at Level 8 proficiency with only 485 SHD's. I donate every armor piece and Weapon that doesn't have a max or near max role on it, to increase my levels, and once those are maxed they get broken down to materials.
They are cutting the time and materials in half to get max experience in February
Yeah I am liking all those changes, cutting the materials in half is good. Also seeing as I now run everything on Heroic, will be nice opening catches and finding yellows with nice rolls on them instead of a purple useless. It will make the donation part that much better. Also the weekly and daily events look to give out better Experience and loot on completion. All around I expect the grind to improve the quality and speed.@@AKingsCreation

Nice video and well explained, but as a speed runner I strongly disagree with the notion that expertise has a part to play in faster completion times - that just falls to how well you play and the strats you use. I can see how your thought process works as someone outside of the speeds community, but in practice it just doesn't work as more damage = faster times, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 very specific scenarios where the extra damage enables a strat that wasn't possible without it.

and having the expertise is only 1 part of it, you have to upgrade your bits to 24 as well... the bottleneck is actually the exotic resource... you need to deconstruct 105 exotic resource to have 1 piece get to level 24... So for 1 build will cost you 630 deconstructed exotics...
To the guys that are at 24 How did you do that? I'm at SHD 4800 and have a few bits at 18... but that's only a few weapons and skills... how did one get there with full builds all at 24 when their SHD is under 4K... How?

I see all these video of these kings at level 20k 40k and even 100k SHD and wonder is it even worth grinding away at my measly 550 SHD! But to be honest I've only played this for about 500 hours(and even that felt like forever) compared to the thousands these guys have played.
They probably play way more than the average person or had been using the exploits that cause a Boost in SHD levels like 500 levels every 5 mins or something of the sort but they got patched. Many of them haven’t gotten it legitimately but also the game has been out for 5 years

if your not already. all the gear you don't want mark as junk and donate all at the table. anything that doesn't end up going into the table (because its already prof. 10) deconstruct or sell.

@@jaykelz1528 only way I've ever done it was from my inventory. I never move it to my stash. I only move stuff to my stash that I want to keep. So you might just have to try it. Also you might want to mark all your load out gear with as a favorite, so you don't accidentally delete it. for your inventory sort it by new material so when your going through it.. it will always be on top.

@@TechDoneRight1 indeed..after you max your materials, purchase the share materials mod..if you had any on you main character the numbers will be in red, indicating they are over the limit..i do this every other week.

you're acquiring the Printer filament wrong...
Transfer 46 SHD to Money ($D), top opting in the scavenger menu.. Go to the vendor at the front of the BOO.. Then buy 100 of the cheapest mods, any mod (one that costs $D4517 or $D4519, what ever is there).. then mark them as junk, then deconstruct them and you'll get 600 Printer Filament...
That's 600 Printer Filament for 46 SHD versus 50 SHD for 500 Printer Filament.
Your way is faster.. but you're trowing away 1000-1500 Printer filament your way.

That’s not what he’s saying at all. He says instead of putting the points to printer fragment out then to cash instead and buy the mods then deconstruct the mods then donate printer fragments to expertise
@@TechDoneRight1 this only applies if you are going to use printer filament to upgrade items in the expertise system. Printer filament is the easiest resource to aquire if your SHD is high enough.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone do NY for SHD transfer unless your original characters SHD is greater that 2000-2500.. then you'll have 1200-1700 to spend.

"the secret" is, this is worthless unless you are at or over 1200 SHD. Pointless for new and returning chars. At 1200, you'll get 400 scavenger points. You decide if that's worth 5 hours.
It’s still better than 5 hours of normal gameplay in any activity. You will not gain 400 levels doing anything else in 5 hours
@@AKingsCreation It SOUNDS like a good argument... but you know better than most, given your expertise experience, it's just math... if you run WLNY at 1200 you'll get 4000 printer filament. It takes 3000 pf to proficient ONE gun/gear from 0-10... one out of 380+. Running a 5 hr campain to proficient ONE ITEM it not time well spent. At such low SHD level, you get better bang for the buck continuing to level SHD on your main char while wearing items that need proficiency, and donating whatever you get meanwhile.
That being said, if you just want to spend the time to level a 2nd char, that's always valuable, cuz you then get double points even level, or triple, of quadruple. But not for the scav points...yet.😉
Im sorry but no matter how you explain this you are basing 5 hours off of solo play. If you run a new character and "Call for Backup" it's 2 hrs 1/2 for 400 levels. No matter how you spin it...math is math... this is the fastest way. Not only that but you're stating this off of gear/weapon proficiencies you can run in the countdown to level up fast.. but what about the gear and weapons you can't get easily at a low shd especially 1200. Its best way for "overall" purposes
Respectfully, i still disagree. You are arguing purely levels, but the overarching topic here is expertise, which comes from making items proficient. At low levels odds are you have a ton of items that aren't proficient. Yes, you can get 400 levels running WoNY that early, but that's one item proficiency toward expertise. ONE. I guarantee you, in the same time frame I can get a two guns, multiple pieces of gear, and a skill or two proficient by wearing and using them for that 3ish hrs in countdown. Shrug.

This method has been used for years now. It is only worth the time spend lvling a new char IF you are above 2500 SHD lvls. and no you do NOT need expertise 24 to beat speedruns. DOD and the rest doesnt have expertise 24. so just claiming that makes this a massive clickbait. All you need is knowlegde of the mechanic and a good team that knows what to do. I do this and have been doing this since SHD lvl 1500 which wasnt worth it. But im 4600 now and i gain 3800 SHD points which can be put into scavenger. Also. DO NOT USE THEM ON Printer filaments. There are WAY better ways of doing it. Spend 100-200 points into E.-credits. And buy mods at the vendor. then dismantle them. You get 6 printer filaments everytime you do so. for each mod that is. Get somewhere around 5mill and 10 mill E-credits and you should be good. Spend the rest in the two bottom materiels. and DO NOT DO THE SHARE before you have used your points. It will stack endlessly when you account share after. Thats how you see people with 100k+ materiels.
Maximum damage output team with the knowledge you claimed.. can beat any team speedrun that doesn’t have maximum damage output so that claim is not clickbait. 24% weapon damage is more beneficial than anyone under 24% weapon damage.. comparing knowledge isn’t even a discussion. But if both teams have same knowledge 24% damage will win. Now as far as the credits method sure you can do that as well and it’s known to provide more printer fragments. But it’s also takes longer to sit there buy the mods over and over and have enough space in your inventory to buy a lot of them and also spend the additional time dismantling all the mods you bought and click junk on all them individually to dismantle all them at once. Especially those with only 1 character, maxed storage space, and 150/150 inventory space
I am SHD 4k and I can't be bothered with this shit. It makes close to 0 difference past like expertise 15 if you know how to move, cheese cover in PvE etc. It only matters in PvP if you play like a dumbass. The expertise system as a whole is, on the face of it, really gatekeepy for PvP which God knows needs all the help it can get to achieve player engagement. It's a dumb system and it's so grindy after level 15 that I don't think it's worth the time and effort if you apply the right multiplicative stats to your build. It's cool if you wanna grind WONY over and over but for me that's so boring.
It’s not for everyone. But I must continue to say whether your PVE PvP.. if you say 15% weapon damage is all you need Vs someone with 24% weapon damage id take that extra damage anyday..PVE & PvP. And a hour a day if someone can’t bother to do that not sure whats the point of playing the game for so long and still not max everything.
