Roth's actual musical contributions to the band are usually overlooked by critics, musicians, his bandmates, and even fans. For their albums, he wrote all of the lyrics, created the vocal melodies and the attitude of the most iconic VH songs in their catalog. There is no doubt that his creativity was equal to Eddie's in creating these songs. His lyrics were far more clever than many realize,; this wasn't stupid stuff from Ratt , Bob Jovi or Guns N Roses. And his vocal phrasings were very unique; nobody sang like Roth. His musical contributions are eons more than Wolfgang's, who was essentially no more than a hired hand on bass, similar to Darryl Jones in the Stones. He just happened to have the last name of Van Halen. And Michael Anthony's contributions to VH were far greater than Wolfgang's.
Yes. DLR was 1/2 of Van Halen. I hope Wolfie isn't collecting royalties for any of the Roth era albums. Because he nor Valerie deserve a dime. Eddie's second wife deserves Eddie's share. and the rest should be split between Alex, Michael and David, with David receiving a bigger cut.

I grew up with Eddie on Holliston Ave. in Pasadena back in the early 1970s. David Lee Roth used to date my sister’s best friend, who lived across the street from the Van Halen’s. Dave would show up at her house every day and lay back on his motorcycle in front of her house, waiting for her to get home from school. You could hear these guys practicing in their garage all the way down the street to my house (a block away). Believe it or not, I was never really into the band Van Halen at the time. My taste in music had gone a different direction back then. The best thing I remember about the Van Halen’s (being a kid at the time), is Eddie’s mom always gave out the best candy every Halloween to us trick-or-treaters. No, I did not know about the rift between David Lee Roth & Wolfgang Van Halen. I not surprised either. DLR always did have an attitude that was BIGGER than life, so I’m not surprised that he would have a gripe with WVH, the youngest member of the band (I think).
It appears that the Van Halens are difficult to get along with. As time goes on, more and more musicians come forward to talk about the difficulties they had with all three of them.
The title of this video made me think that Roth was going to be in an interview descibing his feelings bout Wolfgang ... this didn't tell me much of anything that I didn't already know. I seen them live 3 times between 1980 and 1984, I really liked them live, too 🟪
David Lee Roth ego is so big that he thinks he can do anything like a radio show his radio show sucked. It was so boring and it just showed how displaced he is from reality.
The only thing i got out of this bubble gum gossip video is Wolfgang's cool Basses. I found "Premier Guitar" rig rundown of Mammoth. 45min long. I'm going there now.
I respect Alex for staying out of the limelight as an avenue to talk smack about people here or gone. Sure, he wrote a book, but he's not on late night or podcasts spewing opinions on people who are not here to defend themselves, or anybody for that matter.
Former K-ette here (original band members know this term for their early managers girlfriends). The group played at the Golden West back in 1976. Dave was a huge player back in the day. Not a man I would have trusted. But MA, E and A were always gentlemen to me.
I'm a few years younger that David, so me saying I think David is in denial of his age and having trouble accepting it, is from experience growing up in the same time period. He has had many accomplishments in his life. Martial arts, was a paramedic, rock star and Mega Chick magnet. A 69 year old man singing some of those old VH songs just doesn't fit him any more. Too many songs from VH are about "chasing skirts" and young people "hooking up". He's had a BIG heyday and now it's all behind him.
In Happy Days they had an episode where they had Fonzie jump a shark. That shark was played by Wolfie in a shark suit. He then appeared as a dancer behind Katy Perry at the Superbowl. Then Eddie decided he'd better teach him how to play bass.
Bringing your own son into the band after kicking out and original member who did no wrong was classless. Nepotism like that is never good and genuflects bad on everyone especially the kid.
Funny how the same "rift" exists with Sammy Hagar who has Mike playing with him on projects...It was never just Dave's fault as many people think. Van Halen was the first band to have the guitarist contract lead singer's disease and go all Axl Rose.
"Both of Wolfgang's solo albums charted higher than anything DLR has released since 1987" comparing apples to oranges. back then we actually had a thriving music industry with a lot of bands and music industry charts that actually reflected what was happening in the industry. Now we have neither. I think Dave's problem is that wolfgang didn't start van halen and doesn't have as much right to it as dave does but now dave has to deal with the bosses son.
david lee roth and the band got back toghter one last time they put their deiffrecnes aside for the fans i know alot of bands dont make it they go on ego trips they arent happy with each other its always something aboyt band members playing toghter not all bands stay toghter it was great to see david lee roth back in vh before eddie died i heard david say what along great trip its been when he was asked about his time in the band and with eddie van halen it wa sgreat he said that no matter what he and the eddie had i mean the problems the disagreemnets the conflicts the differnet music i mean the music infunces they had they were still one of the greatest rock bands off all time and in the world rest in peace eddie van halen
wolfgang is good player but dont think he be where he was if he wasnt eddies son, david on the other hand is a rock legend and vanhalen wouldnt be where it was if it wasnt for him
agree, he has not the talent needed to be a star, there are soooooo many better players composers out there, but hey….thats the way his father wanted it to be 🤷♂️
It's a shame more rockers can't be like the guys in Rush, or the Dead. Eddie was kind of like a tyrant, but he sort of mellowed with age. And Roth is still Roth!
David Lee Roth is probably one of the best singer’s and frontman out of the 80’s. But in real life the guy is probably a real jerk! He thinks everything should revolve around him and be about him. I think the guy is a big A hole!

I do agree DLR is self absorbed but he was a key player in the band. He earned it in the clubs & concerts. Wolfang didn't. He was given it. He also can't compare to Michael Anthony.
@@jamieburgess1460 Wolfgang is the only reason that Eddie went back out at all (probably Alex, too). Any decision about Wolfgang replacing Michael Anthony was Eddie's, not Wolfgang's. They started rehearsing before Wolfgang was legally able to drive. Also, Wolfgang and Mike are cool with each other.
I can see why lightening energy of David Lee Roth clashed with the sluggish overweight low energy of Wolfgang. Wolfgang does not have the effervescent spirit that his father Eddie and David had that made Van Halen the band it was .
If your story's about Daves feelings towards eddies son, talk about that, not a long biography about everyone in the band and there childhood and upbringing
I am a hardcore VH fan but honestly the 2 live shows I went to sucked. Both shows I went to were with Roth. These shows I went to were in the early to mid 80s. I guess they were drunk and high or simply not a good live act. Regardless of all that, I still love VH and would take any era rather than no VH. If you are old enough to remember when that first VH album hit the airwaves it have blown your mind. Especially comparing their music to what was playing at the time.
Any collaborative effort will include differences in perspective. It's best if people can sit down and respectfully try to resolve differences. Directing profanity toward others isn't the way to go.
It seems Eddie and Alex had the problems with Roth and Haggar, and then with Michael Anthony because he was selling hot sauce and the brothers didn’t like it because it wasn’t about the music?

It appears that the Van Halens are difficult to get along with. As time goes on, more and more musicians come forward to talk about the difficulties they had with all three of them.
Do NOT watch this video, there is NO interview with Roth. It is just biographical take on the band and is nothing you haven't heard or seen before.
Mammoth was Eddies first band name....before VH .....So Wolfgang using it ..
Interesting, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Here's my opinion, Wolfgang is not part of Van Halen. Michael Anthony is...
There i said it
Here's 8 minutes of your life you'll never get back.
Eat Em And Smile Is Brilliant
The title of this video made me think that Roth was going to be in an interview descibing his feelings bout Wolfgang ... this didn't tell me much of anything that I didn't already know. I seen them live 3 times between 1980 and 1984, I really liked them live, too 🟪
Looks like Wolfe's primary prowess is with a knife and fork............
We all know where he got those genes from...
@@adamwarlock3530from his mom...
Wool Fee appears to have been paid in huge amounts of ice cream and pizza.
It's crazy how much Wolf has to eat to get that porky
Nothing to say about Roth’s use of substances to stay slim though. I respect Wolfie more!
Like him or hate him. Eddie was on another level when he played with Dave ,

*ROTH SAW BIG MONEY ALONE BUT FIZZLED OUT WHEN SAMMY SAVED VH* *CATER*
*WOLFY DONT HANG WITH NORMAL HUMANS* *HE HIDES IN 5150* *CATER*
*LMAO*
David Lee Roth ego is so big that he thinks he can do anything like a radio show his radio show sucked. It was so boring and it just showed how displaced he is from reality.
Love My Diamond Dave Period!!!
No i never knew about the feud i dont care for david lee roth much
May we ask why?
The only thing i got out of this bubble gum gossip video is Wolfgang's cool Basses. I found "Premier Guitar" rig rundown of Mammoth. 45min long. I'm going there now.
true, video was long and sucked
I respect Alex for staying out of the limelight as an avenue to talk smack about people here or gone. Sure, he wrote a book, but he's not on late night or podcasts spewing opinions on people who are not here to defend themselves, or anybody for that matter.
Eddie van halen..best guitarist in the world..miss him a lot
We're a big fan of Eddie too. Which Van Halen song appealed to you the most?
Former K-ette here (original band members know this term for their early managers girlfriends). The group played at the Golden West back in 1976. Dave was a huge player back in the day. Not a man I would have trusted. But MA, E and A were always gentlemen to me.
You knew the band personally before they were superstars? Wow the stories you could tell. Book maybe?
I'm a few years younger that David, so me saying I think David is in denial of his age and having trouble accepting it, is from experience growing up in the same time period. He has had many accomplishments in his life. Martial arts, was a paramedic, rock star and Mega Chick magnet. A 69 year old man singing some of those old VH songs just doesn't fit him any more. Too many songs from VH are about "chasing skirts" and young people "hooking up". He's had a BIG heyday and now it's all behind him.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
In Happy Days they had an episode where they had Fonzie jump a shark.
That shark was played by Wolfie in a shark suit.
He then appeared as a dancer behind Katy Perry at the Superbowl.
Then Eddie decided he'd better teach him how to play bass.
Bringing your own son into the band after kicking out and original member who did no wrong was classless. Nepotism like that is never good and genuflects bad on everyone especially the kid.
If I’m not mistaken, Micheal Anthony stated that he was ok with Wolfgang taking over
Funny how the same "rift" exists with Sammy Hagar who has Mike playing with him on projects...It was never just Dave's fault as many people think. Van Halen was the first band to have the guitarist contract lead singer's disease and go all Axl Rose.
DLR is 1/2 of Van Halen I deserves his share of royalties. Van Halen wouldnt have been nearly as successful without him.
Both of Wolfgang's solo albums charted higher than anything DLR has released since 1987 and it infuriates him.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
He plays bass. How can he do a solo record? He must be in a band . Does he sing.?
@@maestromike91971 Wolfgang needs to lay off the dairy, donuts and carbs, okay!!!!

"Both of Wolfgang's solo albums charted higher than anything DLR has released since 1987"
comparing apples to oranges. back then we actually had a thriving music industry with a lot of bands and music industry charts that actually reflected what was happening in the industry. Now we have neither. I think Dave's problem is that wolfgang didn't start van halen and doesn't have as much right to it as dave does but now dave has to deal with the bosses son.
david lee roth and the band got back toghter one last time they put their deiffrecnes aside for the fans i know alot of bands dont make it they go on ego trips they arent happy with each other its always something aboyt band members playing toghter not all bands stay toghter it was great to see david lee roth back in vh before eddie died i heard david say what along great trip its been when he was asked about his time in the band and with eddie van halen it wa sgreat he said that no matter what he and the eddie had i mean the problems the disagreemnets the conflicts the differnet music i mean the music infunces they had they were still one of the greatest rock bands off all time and in the world rest in peace eddie van halen
wolfgang is good player but dont think he be where he was if he wasnt eddies son, david on the other hand is a rock legend and vanhalen wouldnt be where it was if it wasnt for him
agree, he has not the talent needed to be a star, there are soooooo many better players composers out there, but hey….thats the way his father wanted it to be 🤷♂️
It was understood, although it was we had implemented because this was Eddie thought was right for his son Wolfgang.
It's a shame more rockers can't be like the guys in Rush, or the Dead. Eddie was kind of like a tyrant, but he sort of mellowed with age. And Roth is still Roth!
Hey! if you happen to read this before watching the video....don't bother watching the video

Sick of these commentaries i wanna hear them
David Lee Roth is probably one of the best singer’s and frontman out of the 80’s. But in real life the guy is probably a real jerk! He thinks everything should revolve around him and be about him. I think the guy is a big A hole!
You sound like a third grader . In your comment,, you said he thinks everything should revolve around him ( Roth).. how do you know what he thinks? Do you even know what you think??

@@FactsVerse I like your channel! I was a teenager in the 80’s so I like anything that pertains to the 80’s. Have you done a story on the Space Shuttle Challenger or Christa McAuliffe? That would be interesting.
I do agree DLR is self absorbed but he was a key player in the band. He earned it in the clubs & concerts. Wolfang didn't. He was given it. He also can't compare to Michael Anthony.
Van Halen dominated my high school parking lot in the '80s.

AI voice reading an AI generated script.
So where is Roth talking about wolfgang like the thumbnail looks to promise..gotta love the inyternet, should be called the BS-Net.
Wolfgang never met a sandwich he didn't like.
Fat-shaming is so passé.
@@luvspaiste Let's face it, Wolfgang is responsible for Van Halen not getting back together, would have been nice.
@@luvspaiste Passe, mean, and very ineffective.
WVH has used food to combat his anxiety, while EVH used substances.
I can see why lightening energy of David Lee Roth clashed with the sluggish overweight low energy of Wolfgang. Wolfgang does not have the effervescent spirit that his father Eddie and David had that made Van Halen the band it was
.
Great video. Wolfgang Van Halen was born March 16, 1991. In the year 2000, he was 9 years old, not 16 years old.
Thanks for the correction! We'll check the video 💕💕
Wolfgang had no business in the band.
Hm... what did David say about Wolfgang?
Eddie was an icon. But Wolfgang constantly talks about his dad. So finding his own identity is no something he does.
We absolutely agree! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Be safe and have a great week!☺
I didn't know Chumlee was a Van Halen.
I didn't know you were an idiot!!!
If your story's about Daves feelings towards eddies son, talk about that, not a long biography about everyone in the band and there childhood and upbringing
Roth's solo albums speak for themselves. He didn't need the band .
Roth's hair looks insaaaine in the thumbnail
Should of never had sammy nor wvh , the band was called Van Halen Dave Eddie Anthony and Alex IMHO
Wolfgang has no right to butt in when it comes to van Halen..if Eddie wasn't Wolfgangs father no one would care..
When you need to know what NOT to do in a Rock Band look no further than Van Halen
Van Halen only had 4 good albums.Once Dave left It was over

In his prime, Roth was a rock god. Then he went weird. 🇦🇺😊
Eight minutes I will never get back
The real stuff starts at 6:22. You're welcome
Dave got old and couldnt sing anymore.. He was the best in his prime. He Made the band great!
