  • In this video we take a trip using EV auto on the interstate at about 70 mph until we run out of electricity and then it goes to Hybrid mode, in the end, we get 97.5 mpg and use .34 gallons of fuel for our 38.9 mile trip.
    I plan to do some more of these videos so stay tuned if you are interested.
    Enjoy

    Dustan, one more question. Is there anyway to turn off the Cruise Control notifications that pop up when your using the adaptive cruise control or the notification that says "Lane Assistant Not Available Below Approx 32MPH"? I can't seem to have these stop without not activating those options while driving.

    Thanks Justin, do you feel EV auto / Eco modes are the best choices for max miles?

      I usually manually change from hv to ev personally. Or ev auto to hv. The one route I take has a lot of hills and I prefer to use ev for that. Ev auto seems to be rather generic like if it requires more than 30kw to drive it turns on engine and that's no fun when it just needs 30kw for a couple seconds to go up a hill. As for the highway if you know you will use all your battery I think ev auto is best. But inside to switch to hv and leave a few miles for city driving at the end.

    Hello Dustan, how do you get the parameters display on the right side of the video? It is very interesting to watch those parameters change. Again, how do get this, your laptop, or on the PRIME display? I have 2018 PRIME.

      Once you get an obd reader preferably ScanTool OBDLink LX to get the data amzn.to/2DkkhMY
      I used a cheaper carista OBD reader before and it doesn't give you all the data.
      I use it on an old note 4 andriod phone and mount it to my left above the steering wheel.

    Dustan, I have a 2017 prius prime, my average trip MPG only goes up to 199.9. Was there anything special to get yours to read 999.9 or less?

      Nope sorry is just an update they did for 2018 don't know of a way to enact it on the later models.

      @@DustanD Thanks, I reviewed the manual and couldn't find a way to change it. My older 2013 Prius PlugIn had values to 999. Appreciate the feedback!\

      Sorry last question, my 11 inch screen, when I am in the ECO apps looking at the Energy Monitor, it would be nice to show that battery actual level. Mine shows the battery icon, but not the active level of the battery like my 3rd gen plug in. Is yours still the same way?

    I assume you break 100mpg when the weather warms up?

    • @DustanD
      @DustanD  5 лет назад +1

      Sure do I got 999.99 today even went to the bank before work total of 22 miles. It is 38°F out today didn't use any gas and had 0.6 miles of ev left when I got to work. The heat was set at 66 and seat heater on low. Average for life of car right now is 167.5 mpg after 6390 miles. Only put gas in 3 times since I got it.

      @@DustanD Impressive. I commute about 35 miles with charging capacity at work. Weighing my options if a PHEV is worth it or just hybrid.

    • @DustanD
      @DustanD  5 лет назад +1

      When I compared prices it was cheaper with the incentive to get the prime only loss is some storage space in the trunk. 35 miles is pushing it I have read of people getting upwards of 38 miles but that would be going 55mph. Today it is 60°F and I got to work which is a 20 mile drive with 4.4 miles left but I drove 75 mph today instead of the 65 I usually do. Also I have the worst case scenario on my commute as you have seen in these videos its 95% highway. I have another route to work that would be much less highway I need to film and study as I have taken it a few times and even on a 30°F day had a couple miles left when I got to work. I bought the prime because of how efficient it is fuel wise even when not using EV. I went to Pittsburgh about a 123-mile trip and got 48 mpg using gas all the way and going 75 mph. Someday I will get to editing those and get some warm weather tests done as well. Good luck in your decision especially if your in a warmer climate than me I'd recommend don't worry so much about being able to use ev 100% of the time I was that way too once you get it and still only get gas every 1500 miles it's still so nifty and thrifty.

    Dude ! Thanks 😊 I'm stuck between getting another Prius or trying a Model S or 3 and maybe a Lexus CT 200H
    The only reason I may not get a Prius Prime it's just to damn ugly . The Model 3 & Model S is to damn expensive .
    The CT I can get used or certified used for good prices 😁 but that just lipstick on the same pig . I already have . Thanks for the video I appreciate it

      yeah I really want the tesla next or a plug in sienna. looks wasnt much of an issue for me I think it looks good. Price is what sold me 24k after taxes and rebates. and resale value is high on them for now hope that stays. Will do a full review when I get some more miles on it and it gets warmer here.
