How an animal that gets that big was ever legally allowed as a pet in the US is beyond me.

I don't think it is legal for people to dump their pets. As far as "letting" them get that big, they have relatively a handful of hunters that hunt yr round. Everglades are massive. The need to open the year round to everyone. Even pay a bounty. Like, $20 a foot or whatever.

Stupidity at its finest. Once a year???? It should be daily .... Every day..... Year around bounty on them. Gov wastes money every day way worse than a bounty would cost. Get them gone fast. It's going to be too late soon.

People can be sooooostupid. Releasing them?!!! My dipsh*t brother, Matt, released his iguana. He also, 30 yrs ago or so, maybe 25. He was in his early 20's. He had a little dog dying of cancer and he didn't want spend the $ to take her to the vet to be put down. So he stuck here in a duffle bag and hooked her up to a tailpipe of a running car.🤬😭 I lived many hours away otherwise an azzbeating would visit him then. Eventually it happened.

At least the only good thing about invasive species is that they single handedly provide a whole new economy simply from being such a massive problem. Really unfortunate it can't be contained that well though
