    There should be a "National Menopause Day". Just listening to what you've said in this video, women have a TON of variables to cope with in addition to going through Menopause. You touched on so many symptoms as well as the "sandwich" position we get plopped in...kids returning home in their 30's because they can't survive out there as well as having sick parents on both sides of the family. We deserve an award!!

    This one hit home with me, and I'm certain, many other women. Because I've been post menopausal for over ten years, I think at some point I experienced at least half of these psychological symptoms! Oh, in hindsight, how I wish you had been here, however, I'm not looking back for long, I am moving forward, armed with my faith in The Lord, and you, dear Dr. Barbie....my faithful, tender hearted, wise beyond words, amazing advocate! Thank you for being so open concerning these serious issues, at times I teared up and nodded my head.....you are the best ever, and I love you! ❤️❤️❤️

    I'm 57 and honestly I thought I was going crazy until I listen to Dr. Barbie 😪
    My son has been a heroin attitude for 15 years, had a child 5 years ago who I have a joint custody with the mother's family. I take care of him every weekend. Also, I'm the only child and both of my parents got sick at the same time. We had to put my dad into the senior home and my mom lived with me and my husband for 2 years until she passed.
    Thank you Dr. Barbie! You are making me feel normal.
    P.S. I'm going to start HRT soon. And I'm in process of reading your book. I'm embarrassed to say how little I knew about menopause.

    Dr. Barbie, I am going through ALL the psychological symptoms you listed.
    Currently on a low dose estrogen patch (.390 mg of estradiol-178) every third day and 1 progesterone 100mg capsule per day. My psychological symptoms along with my physical symptoms (joint pain, bulging/herniated discs) are so bad that I am not able to work at this time. I was showing the symptoms physically, so my boss encouraged me to take time off to deal with these symptoms. I feel like I used to be physically attractive, but that is all falling apart right before my eyes...I am so scared I am going to lose my job. I am only 48! I don't feel supported by my doctor as she just rolls her eyes at me. However she did put me on Citalopram, 10mg daily.
    Anxiety/depression are my worst symptoms. My biggest stressor is my financial debt.
    Currently seeking counselling but it is difficult to find one.
    I am single with no children, no friends, and I have never felt lonelier than I do now.
    I am sorry I am rambling. I just don't know where to start.

    First of all, I want to thank you so very much for sharing your wisdom with us. I'm 43, close to post-menopause, and have had all of these psychological symptoms, plus all but a few of the symptoms of menopause since 2014. Oddly enough, these symptoms began shortly after receiving Lupron injections for 6 months for endometriosis. I had no idea what was happening to me. I saw many specialists over the years and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2019 (as was my mother who had all of these symptoms too). It's eerily strange to me that a Fibromyalgia diagnosis is so commonly given to women when most likely they are going through peri-menopause or post-menopause - the symptoms are very similar. My mother and I joke that doctors bestow the Fibromyalgia diagnosis upon us when they don't know what's wrong since all the testing comes back as "normal". I understand there is some controversy around Fibromyalgia and I do not mean to step on anyone's toes who also has this disorder. Just wondering how many women have been misdiagnosed over the years - the thought of that makes me sick to my stomach.
    I've watched/am watching all your videos in order and have learned SO much! Last month, my gynocologist looked at my bloodwork and said I was in peri-menopause-close to post-menopause stage. He prescribed HRT and asked if this was what I wanted to do. I said yes, out of ignorance, because well, I didn't know anything about menopause. I filled the prescription, took it home, read the lengthy booklet inside the package and was confused about where to put the patch lol. I started digging around the internet doing some research and found the Menopause Reddit page. It was suggested to watch your videos, so I did. Got myself a notebook, dedicated a couple hours a day to learning from you and decided not to make a decision about how to manage MY menopause MY way until I felt confident making a decision. The Combi-Patch is still in the fridge, and yes, I do get the overwhelming urge to slap it on when these hot flashes are wearing me down! But I am holding out, focused on the long term and feel like my decision is close. We are all extremely grateful to you for educating us. I plan on educating my daughter and mother and any woman who will listen. Menopause must be a normal topic of conversation! ♥♥♥

    Thank you so much Dr. Barbie for helping us menopausal women around the world. I'm writing to you from Asia. Though I'm making the effort to learn more about menopause through research & reading. But like many women around the globe, I'm overwhelmed & confused with the conflicting bits of data & menopausal scare tactics even from physicians & professionals. Just not helpful to us already stressed out women during this difficult transition period of our lives. I feel so happy to had discovered your channel here in the nick of time. I have been looking forward to menopause because I had a terrible time during my menstrating years! Now that I am peri menopausal I didn't expect to feel like this! Hot flashes to point where my heart is racing and I can't breathe properly. Night sweats, brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, feeling insecure about my job, because I can't seem to function at work. And no matter what I do it's getting worse. I am going in with a positive attitude but I can't get a handle on my symptoms.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 года назад +1

      Arlene-Ann,
      This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. And I would love to help you. You don to have to suffer at all with menopause. You just need to know how to manage it. And that's what I'll teach you in a consultation.
      No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU.
      I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works:
      1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone.
      2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. If you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a 5-day deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date.
      3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages.
      4) I will send you the document by email 72 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth.
      5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed.
      6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use.
      7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options.
      The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request.
      So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively).
      I hope to meet you soon!

Thank you for describing the severity of how far this can go for so many women I can now give my friends the patients and understanding they deserve when I think they're just being crazy. Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The RUclips comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. Every so often, I scan back through old videos to see if there are any I haven’t answered. And, I found this one!
      If you aren't getting the help you need, Denise, I'll be happy to have a one-on-one consultation with you. If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person.
      You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you 'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long.
      Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
      There are so may good solutions for every woman. You just need someone who know about all of them and can help you find the ones that are best for you.

    This is scarily very real to me, menopause has hit me hard and mainly psychologically, very severely. I went to my GP today and had to exaggerate my physical symptoms a bit because she was, at first, reluctant to prescribe HRT on teh grounds that I was 'only' getting psychological symptoms and that hrt is nto effective for treating these. I exaggerated how bad my (mild) hot flashes are because I felt she was wrong and that symptoms as severe as mine should eb treated with hrt especially as I already have osteoporosis and am only 42. From watching all your videos in order and doing other research I surmised that hrt is beneficial for treating psychological symptoms. Am I right or is she right? Thanks so very much. For some women these symptoms can be short lived I'm one of them. If I can get past the anxiety after the extremely stressful few years we had to navigate and find stable housing just before my hormones really started going crazy I believe there's hope for others and these videos are very helpful I can remember and concentrate and don't need as much caffeine so I want women to know these symptoms don't have to run your life. I was afraid I would be combating this stuff for a year or more but after a few months and some nutrition adjustments I do feel like myself I want this little experience of mine to offer encouragement to others. The large egg is exactly how I feel living in a tiny house with my husband spending most of his time here I wish he would clean and puppy proof his place but next month we will be in another village with heat so I can take the large egg along with the growing jumping bean 🐕 next door and have some space to do what I need without the distractions I'm well aware these symptoms can return so it's nice to understand why they occur and can be managed

    Once again you have explained my condition to a tee. But I am peri menopausal - why do I feel so bad already. ? Is it because I have never had children ? The thought of another 5 years of this , I might blow my brains out ( seriously no , only joking ) but on 2nd month of mini pill and still feel like I am going crazy , bleeding for the last 13 days , so the symptoms are getting worse each day , and it started off so well , I had at least 5 days when I was tripping the light fantastic. Sorry to hassle you , when you have already very kindly answered my other messages . You are the only person who can help me . My doctor is bored with seeing me now. When will the torture end ? How can I keep a job if somedays I have moments when I forget who I am and where the hell I am ? My mum thinks the menopause is just a few hot sweats and that's it . Jesus ! She don't know the half of it. God bless you Barbie , sorry to go on. I am so frightened and fucked off with this. Xxxxxxx

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 лет назад +2

      Sallyanne,
      Never having had children has nothing to do with any of this. Wipe that thought out of your mind.
      However, your comment about being on the mini-pill may have a lot to do with it.
      You already know that peri-menopause is due to low progesterone. So, it seems logical to use the mini-pill during peri-menopause. And that's because the mini-pill is all progesterone (no estrogen).
      BUT, maybe you're far enough into your peri-menopause that you are also experiencing symptoms of low estrogen. If that's the case, the mini-pill may actually make your symptoms worse. It may be that the mini-pill is making your progesterone so much higher than your estrogen level that your symptoms are worse.
      You could consider trying a birth control pill that contains both estrogen AND progesterone. Talk with your gynecologist about this. It's worth a try.
      You should NOT be this unhappy.
      Remember, the reason there are so many different birth control pills is that there are so many different women. Some women have to try a few different brands to find their "dream pill." And with time, that "dream pill" may stop being so dreamy. That's because you're not a robot. Your needs will change over time.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 лет назад +4

      Absolutely, Nena.
      In the diet category: omitting caffeine, sugar, and junk food works wonders for anxiety.
      In the lifestyle category, plenty of sleep, regular exercise, and yoga are magical for both anxiety & depression.
      In the botanical & herbal category, St. John's Wort is the most popular anti-depression herb. It works to alleviate anxiety, too.
      In the hormonal category, estrogen alleviates depression. Progesterone alleviates anxiety. But too much progesterone causes depression.
      In the non-hormonal category, anti-anxiety medications (Valium) decrease anxiety and anti-depressants combat depression.
      There's something in every category. Be sure to try only one at a time.

    This is funny. I was meno-naming events around me lately, too. Like today's weather was totally a meno-weather, it just couldn't decide what to do: raining, windy, calm, foggy, haling, sunny and then all over again. Just like us when we are “under weather”. My biggies are certainly a meno-deepression, meno-selfloss and meno-invisibility. Literally, people just bump on me sometimes, and I go "really, am I wearing an invisible hat?" And not that long ago they would stop to look at me and compliment. Ha-ha. I have managed the anxiety by stopping alcohol completely. I used to have such dreadful anxiety attacks, they were actually killing me as my heart would be jumping the rope in the mornings and often at nights too. Stopping alcohol in any form worked like a magic pill. Now, I am on a search for solutions to other items on my menopause management list, although it seems as you get to manage one, another comes creeping in. Luckily, seeing you on the screen helps me feel meno-found and meno-shining like never before. Today, while driving to my naturopath, I caught myself laughing full heartedly just remembering some of your episodes. Laughter is certainly one of the most affordable but priceless menopause medicine out there. It feels so liberating, instead of taking new wrinkles as a defeat, just laugh about them. I call them my New Year gifts now and keep saying that while I do not make any New Year resolutions myself, my face and body do, they come up with new lines and aches each January precisely and force me to go about their resolutions. Also, I asked my doctor to look you up, Barbie. By the way, we need to teach the Grammarly all these new meno-terms so that the spellcheck is not going crazy trying to underline and correct them all. Stay healthy and merry, all the menofriends out there!

    Hey Dr Barbie, this video was very informative. In my case there are issues that have been bothering me for years. I've been suppressing the way I feel for years, seems now I just can't lie to myself anymore. It seems going through menopause has brought a clarity, unfortunately I can't do much to change my situation.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  5 лет назад +1

      Well, the eery first step in changing any situation is to see it clearly. You are farther along than you think. And just know that you are not alone. Menopause is a time of tremendous stress for so many women. I'm doing what I can to make it a whole lot smoother.
      I'm here if you need me.

    Dear dr taylor,
    I am on a low dose of antidepressant ssri since about a year. I am not still in menopause. I am 50. I have a huge loss of libido. These ssri are super but...i don't know if it is the medication or the imminent menopause. What you think in general of ssri in menopause.
    Thank you if you find the time to answer. I love your videos. Hope you will not stop.

    • @MenopauseTaylor

      Many women use SSRIs at the time of menopause. They alleviate depression only. And they cause a loss of libido for most women. Most women experience a decrease in their sex drive 2 years after post-menopause. That's when testosterone declines.

      Hi Barbie! About the same time I started the HRT, I started the Alpha base vitamin supplement packs as directed by my integrative medicine APN. Unsure which might have caused the issue, I stopped the HRT for about 7 days, and things got back to usual - then yesterday I thought I'd try again, applying it mid afternoon instead of evening as I had been, just to see if it made a difference, and lo and behold, it started again. It is the tiniest little dab - 1/4 gram (1 click). Label says CS -E2 2.5/E3 2.5 /P 200 MG/GM Cream Topiclick. I'll try knocking out the plain yogurt that I usually have and see what happens!

    I can truly relate to this video. I suffer from anxiety attacks but this past month has been almost unmanageable. Last Monday I struggled with hyperventilating and feeling very anxious for 9 hours, with a brief break in the middle. I hadn't had a period for 11 months and this month I had one for 2 weeks, albeit very light. I really want to take a combined patch of estrogen and progesterone, do you think this is appropriate as I'd had 11 months without a period? I know it's time to try something, even a low dose will help I'm sure. I just sometimes feel so low and have a lack of interest and overwhelming dark thoughts and I don't want to go worse. Please help! Thank you so much 🙏
