My dog began to have seizures and not having any money to take her to the vet, I started giving her 4 drops of CBD oil every day and her seizures stopped. She isn't 100% back to normal but she is getting better every day. Its been about 2.5 weeks and no seizures. Its a miracle! Thank you!
Donna can you please give me a link for the CBD oil you purchase for your dog. My dog is having seizures for a year now and up until March he was seizure free but now the seizures are back so wanting to try a trusted CBD oil
Sad part is bag dog food causes a lot of these seizures and skin issues. You're one of the few veterinarians that truly understands the importance of an animal's well-being instead of pushing products out the door that someone paid you to promote. You're one of the best resources on the internet for home remedies and dogs keep up the great work
I'll second that. We adopted a yellow lab/golden retriever mix last year that was on phenobarbitol for seizures. He had been abandoned, adopted, then dumped at the shelter twice before we found him. The vets at the shelter could not find any physical reason for the seizures so he was diagnosed with epilepsy. One month after we adopted him, he started having side effects to the medication in the form of aggression and other weird behaviors. I started researching the drug he was on and found that pheno alters brain chemicals and cause agitated and aggressive behavior in both humans and animals. We decided to wean him off of it to see how he'd react with less and less of the drug in his system. I should also mention that he never had a seizure since being with us. Not one. He also never had any while weaning him from the drug over a six month period. It has been six months since being off of the meds and still no seizures. We believe he was reacting to stress from being abandoned and bouncing back and forth at the shelter. He also came with a heavy case of separation anxiety which we've worked on to the point where he only gets anxious for particular reasons like, if my husband goes out of town or he's on a long car ride. We recently bought him a Thundershirt which so far is working great.
You rock! Thank you so much! My puppy is 3 and half months old and just had her first seizure with us last night. We were scared, freaked and tried calling every pet emergency place but we didn't have enough money and they refused to help. This gives me hope. We're in Colorado so thanks to you I'm reminded of an option I'm willing to try and can afford. thank you again!
Bless your heart for this video, Doc. My 8 year old cat began having seizures earlier this week. I bought some CBD oil earlier today and gave her 1/2ml when I got home, and gave her another 1/2ml this evening. I'll let you know how it works out. Fingers crossed. I could not love her more if she was a human.
I started my dog having seizures 21mg a day and seizures are gone. Hes more himself everyday now. Its been 2 weeks. They wanted me to out him to sleep! This saved his life
Omg...you gave me hope and peace. My 11 years old pit bull Chubby got diagnosed with a mast cell tumor: cancer. Im heartbroken but dont want him to have chemotherapy...Im exploring the different options and you channel gave me tons of useful info and most important hope. I know he will not be cancer free but I want to keep his quality of live. Thanks!
Always wish i did this on a little pug i had before. spent thousands on vet bills trying to help him and nothing did shit and had to put him down because his quality of life was going quick. early brain damage and putting him down might of been prevented with a much cheaper option like cbd or even thc. R.I.P Tucker the pug
Beetle Juice Wow... I'm so sorry you went through this and I know how painful it is . Years ago I had a pug dog and she died in my arms and it was definitely one of the worst moments of my life. It's not your fault, you couldn't have known about the CBD oil because it's only been a more recent discovery . I think the best thing you can do is just to try to tell others about this and that there is an alternative way of dealing with epilepsy in pets . I just want you to know that it took over 7 years for me to really overcome my grief so that it was not so painful to remember the good times with our dog. And by that I mean after 7 years I finally realized one day I didn't think of her everyday where I had all that pain in her memory... I was finally able to rise above it and enjoy the good memories. But pugs will do that.. they will really steal your heart... I guess they all do.. cats and other pets, too
My heart sank when I read your post. I am so sorry for your loss and sorry that your dog had to go through that. Rest assured that Tucker is free from the body that caused him suffering and he knows you loved him and did your best with the information you had at the time.
I'm so glad I came across just recently my cat he is almost 9 years old he started having seizures he's healthy nothing was wrong with him and then all the sudden it started so I was talking with a few of my friends and they were telling me try CBD and take him to the vet and see what he says so we took him to the vet and he said go ahead and try CBD first see what happens watch over him know my cat is on it today he hasn't had one for 12 so I'm hoping that they slow down I pray to God this work's
My 14 year old boy would be lying down and suddenly jump up. Half an hour ago he was hacking and fell over like with a mild seizure. I have given him his dinner with two drops of CBD oil. I have realised he probably has mild epilepsy. Thanks Dr Jones.
My Shih Tzu was having multiple seizures a day starting at 6 months old. I started giving her CBD oil and they got better. Now I give it proactively every morning. She has not had a seizure in 5 years now. This is a miracle oil. I’m SO thankful.
WOW................................why has this been kept away from people that love their dogs ? Yet the Drs put them Phenobarb which attacks the liver and kidneys
My dog started seizures at 3.5 y/o He has been on Keppra 750mg 3x a day and still gets 2 weekly to 3 weekly. We tried tcvm diet of cooling veges and turkey but still getting 3 weekly. Vet said give extra keppra when we see he’s about to have it, and we did, but it postponed the seizures to 2 days later and it was much much worse that we had to carry him in a blanket to the vet (he’s a big dog). Vet started him on pregabalin and it caused sudden onset of panic attacks it seemed. Anyway, we thought it must be the diet because we gave him a lot of watermelon prior to seizures thinking it is good for him. We decided keto diet after I found this paper on a young boy called Charlie whose seizures were treated with keto diet. We found KetoPet Sanctuary as a guide on what to give and has started cbd oil. Hoping for a miracle
Great video! I adopted my maltipoo, Kelli 5 months ago and she suffers from petit mal seizures which would come on every 3-4 weeks. I took her to the vet and they wanted to put her on phenobarbital. When the vet told me the possible side effects and the risk involved with dosing or altering the dose even slightly, it scared the crap out of me. My vet advised that there are also natural, alternative treatments that can be used if the phenobarbital started to have adverse effects, so I started researching alternative treatments and learned about CBD oil. I have had her on King Kanine 75 mg CBD oil and so far, she has not had a seizure in just over 6 weeks! I am praying that this herb is the answer and that her seizures continue to become less frequent or cease altogether for that matter. I also have her on a healthy regimen in that she eats Fresh Pet Vital Grain Free and alternatively for variety, I give her Only Natural Pet dry food, which has turmeric in it. I add Wellness Core Raw Bowl Boosters to each meal (which she absolutely loves). She gets spring water every day, a powdered probiotic specifically formulated for dogs/cats and I only use stainless steel bowls for her food and water.
I have known of this via the Canine Health Concern run by Catherine O'Driscoll here in the UK. It really does help with dogs and cats that have fits. Great subject . Thank you :)
My dog is epileptic. He has been on phenobarbital for about a year now and has been hospitalized twice. He was just given Keppra as well since phenobarbital isn’t controlling his seizures as much. Everyday I have to give him 7 pills and I can’t even imagine what this is going to do to him long term. I’ve been doing a lot of research on CBD and plan on moving him over to that to control his seizures. I’m definitely going to talk to his vet about this to figure out a way to take him off his 7 daily pills.
Hey, my 12 year old dog was just put on keppra also because he had a grand mal seizure a couple days ago. I was also thinking about cbd oil because i dont know how the keppra will react with my dog. I was wondering if i could maybe use cbd oil with the keppra. I havr an appt with my vet this weekend, but have you found out anything else?
Z Park My doctor told us that if my dog has no seizures in 10-14 days I can stop the Keppra and just keep him on phenobarbital. But they did increase his dosage of it. I have a vet appointment in 3 weeks to check his phenobarbital levels. I’m going to ask my doctor about CBD oil. They’ve told me that there is no concrete evidence that it works so they can’t suggest it. It’s really up to the owner. But I’ve done a lot of research on cbd and it seems to work. I’m definitely going to give it a try. As for reactions with Keppra I’ve heard it’s actually safer than phenobarbital. It doesn’t have severe side effects.
My cat is 3 years old and perfectly healthy. He just started having partial seizures. He's been getting them every hour. I just got CBD oil prescribed for him and I pray to God it works. I don't know what's going on
@@PhilosopherNewport unfortunately it did not. He actually was not perfectly healthy like the blood tests had shown. He was born with a heart condition and had to be euthanized.💔
Going to start my 4 y/o golden doodle on cbd oil I got today. I'm really hoping it helps. Gets admitted every month and it is so expensive and the vet doesnt give you anything more than "we cant do much". he is on high dose keppra 750mg 3x a day. It is so so stressful that I have so much empathy for those pet owners having to deal with this seizure thing. We have taken our dog off kibbles and trying to give him keto diet only. We are starting CBD oil today although I'm so confused with the dosing! I hope I dont overdose him! Thank you Dr Jones.
We started my cat on CBD oil yesterday. She had been having one seizure about every 24 hours for a week. We made it through yesterday without a seizure. Gave her a dose this morning, thought we were in the clear, but she just had a seizure a few minutes ago. It did not seem to last as long and she did not walk around in circles afterwards for as long as the other times. I managed to squirt some CBD oil into her mouth immediately afterwards. I will increase her dosage. I refuse to take her to the vets (ignorant murderers). I'd rather she died at home without any pharmaceuticals in her system. We had a cat about 7 years ago who began having seizures. Took her to a specialist who said she had nasal cancer. Each injection cost $750. All told, with office visits and whatnot, we went into debt to the tune of $17, 500. Her seizures stopped and then she died a horrible death 3 months later (fried liver & kidneys from the chemo). The sooner I am killed, the better I will feel. This ain't no good life. Not by a longshot.
this is horrible am so sorry you had to go through this devastating experience and loss and l could not agree with you more, we can always do something and hope for the best outcome, going to buy CBD oil for my cats seasures, good luck to all of us who love their animals, pls keep me posted ⚘⚘⚘
My veterinarian said they is no positive research, and ignored me when I asked about CBD. My dog got a rabies shot in August, 8 days later he started having seizures. He had 3 the other day about 5 hrs apart. They said there isn't much I can do. I'm ready to try anything, I can't just sit here and watch him suffer, feeling like the most useless dog mommy.
Hi, yes I would encourage you to have your vet do at least a basic blood test to r/o other causes. Then I personally would put my dog on CBD oil at 1mg/10lbs twice daily to start
@@VeterinarySecrets I really need your help with my little yorkie. I have been giving him help honey to help him with his seizures to try and seen him off the high sterios his neurologist has him on along with his other meds of neuronton and tramadol and I seen a very big difference in him but as I tried to ween hi off he had a grandma seizure and pooped himself so that was the first grandma seizure he had ever had so I started giving his other meds again and he hasnt had any grandma seizures but I think it is because he has been on steroids for aprox 5 years now. He has a lot of health problems starting with a cyst in his brain fluid on the brain and spinal cord. His C1 and C2 didnt develope correctly and from being on steroids for so long he has ligament and tendon problems. He also has saliva gland problems and was supposed to have both sides removed but they didnt due there job and only removed on side so he stil has all the problems and now he is showing signs of muscle wasting and pain in his rear right leg. He wont eat dog food so most of his life he has ate KFC chicken minus the skin. I have tried to get him to eat dog food many many times but no luck. His neurologist told me just let him eat what he will eat which I feel the same. Between the type of seizures he has and now seeing him in pain is to much for me to handle and I need help on what to give him for the pain. The help honey seemed to help but now not with the new pain in his hind leg and it is killing me but at the same time I cant let him go because I would be taking his life and I know I wouldn't be ble to live with my self so I am in desperate need for getting him help so I beg you to please help me. I cant lose my baby. 😣😞😢
I did as close to a _'scientific test'_ on my 14 pound dachshund as possible in a home environment. *HISTORY:* _I 'rescued' this dog at about the age of 4, and she never had a seizure for the first year to year and a half. Then suddenly it started. She was having seizures on average once a month. They would last about 10 to 15 minutes before she could somewhat stand and walk again. At first I suspected the expensive kibbles I was feeding her and started making her food out of the best ingredients (70% beef heart, 5% fish, 20% veggies, 5% brown rice. All cooked). After several more months there was no change._ I decided to try 'Angle Flavorless' CBD oil. (3,000 mg per 1 ml ~ 30 ml bottle). I recorded each seizure on the calendar, as well as the amount of CBD oil I was giving her (under the tongue). I started out with one drop per day, and after 4 months I increased it to 2. After another 4 months to 3, and so on for four years. There was never *_ANY_* change in her seizures over the course of that four years. Running low on the oil and not wanting to spend another sixty bucks for something that wasn't working, I decided to stop for a while. She had another seizure right on schedule on Feb 7th 2022. Then strangely she had a very short and mild one twelve days latter. _Not bad enough so she was unable to walk, but I could tell._ Today is April 17th and she hasn't had any more. They seem to have stopped as suddenly as they started. I've been retired since I got her and either I'm always home or my wife is, so I know we didn't miss recording any seizures. My non-professional opinion after over four years of using the drops is they did *NOTHING* to stop (or even help) the seizures. _I've heard people praise their use, and if they work for those dogs I'm _*_VERY_*_ happy for them. They just didn't work with mine._
Thank you for your report. I'm happy to hear the seizures have stopped. Questions: Did you ever vaccinate the dog? If so, how often? Did you ever give the dog any vet-prescribed medication? If so, what drug? What dose? How often? Did you ever give the dog over-the-counter pharmaceutical flea & tick treatments? Why did you cook the food when it sounds like the kind of diet that RAW DIETS are composed of? Did you ever try in 4 years another brand of CBD oil? Why did you give the dog "drops" instead of a full pipette/syringe? Who told you to give the dosage you gave? How many drops per day were you giving her when you finally stopped? What do your guts/instinct/intuition tell you was the cause of the seizures? I know you're not a "professional", but what does your gut tell you? I really, really appreciate your report. Nothing is more valuable than first-hand experience & testimonials from people who are not selling something nor making a living connected to Big Pharma (doctors, vets, the medical industry in general). I look forward to your reply.
Thanks doc for the information, i gave my first dose today. My cat has been getting 22mg of phenobarbital every 12 hours. The pharmacist thought i should reduce the pheno over a few weeks as i use the CBD so as not to cause withdraws. The 4 vets here that i asked just said they do not know anything about CBD and DID NOT think it was a good idea to try it. So when people say to use CBD along with your vets advice, i guess i am on my own.
I'm trying to do some legwork on research for a friend of mine whose dog has very bad epilepsy and is on the phenobarbital and I'm trying to convince her to try alternative methods such as the cannabis oil. I wonder if somewhere out there somebody has started a website where people with epileptic pets are talking to each other about alternative methods and the cannabis oil... so that they can talk to each other about what kind of luck they've had and their different experiences
Allahu snackbar I have a feeling those vets might not want you to know about the CBD oil... a lot of us know that people who are given scripts for Dangerous very ,very harmful drugs by their Physicians are not being told the truth about those drugs... even though those doctors took an oath to do no harm... so I wouldn't be surprised given that a lot of those doctors are getting kickbacks and getting paid pretty well for those dangerous Scripts don't be surprised if maybe it's happening within the veterinarian Community ,too. I don't know if a vet telling someone about CBD oil and other alternative healers could lose their license but maybe in some states regretfully that could happen... which would really be a shame and just convince me more that there's also corruption at the state level in the veterinarian community.
gardensofthegods Don’t quote me, but I don’t think vets can legally recommend CBD oil to patients. Let me know if you find anything out because I also have a dog with idiopathic epilepsy. ♥️
allahu snackbar Madison... I have a strange feeling it varies from state to state at least in America... but I could be wrong. Btw... have you tried the CBD on your dog yet... and if so can you tell me what kind of results are happening.
Is there a particular brand of CBD that you recommend for dogs as trying to find one is really confusing. I have a Border Collie that has seizures due to epilepsy and so far the drugs are not controlling the seizures. I would appreciate your help, pleasee.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just found your channel. My dog was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 2, about 5 years ago. I'm not sure why the vet came to that conclusion since she ran no tests at the time but we put my dog on Keppra, he's been getting a dose every 8 hours ever since, and I have to take him in every 3 months for bloodwork to make sure the meds are not causing organ damage. Well I read recently that wasn't necessary because of how Keppra is metabolized. Is that true? I spend so much money on trying to keep my dogs healthy as it is, and if he doesn't need to be tested on Keppra then I need to change vets. He's never had any other problems. I've tried giving my dog CBD with a low THC content since I'm in California and I've got tons of options on product, but my dog acts really funny and gets clingy and kinda freaks out on it. Almost like he gets sometimes if he's about to have a seizure or even post-ictal, but he doesn't end up having one. Could that just be from the THC? Will he get used to it over time? I even tried the product myself to make sure it wasn't extremely concentrated with THC since you never know, and it hardly had any effect on me. I dont know what to think. My vet said she can't advise on that stuff and to just let her know how it works. :( Thank you again. Sarah
Lil Jaded-Bunny From what I hear good quality cannabis oil is not supposed to have any THC in it at all. My neighbor who was hit by a car and couldn't sleep from the pain swears by Green Gorilla brand cannabis oil the to cost her $45 and she said that there's some month and her 80 something year old mother uses it too and has had great results... but I don't know anything about if it has any THC in it
S Lindburg.....IMO....CHANGE YOUR VET!!! The entire reason that Keppra is so popular is that you don't have to constantly have your pup tested to see if it's burning out his liver. That vet it just pulling a money grab on you, or is POORLY educated.
Hi Dr.Jones , my 9 yr old dog is Epileptic since 4 years old .. He is on Phenobarbital but still has occasional seizures .. Can I supplement his pheno with CBD oil to better help him ?? Thank you
My elderly cat just had a seizure for the first time. He is about 22 yrsold. I think it was triggered by the sound of me clicking a flashlight off and on. It is daylight and he was asleep, could have also been the light, but i think it was the sound. Just so people are aware
Have you vaccinated the cat? Vaccines are nothing but toxic to any biological body. Every cat is different. Some react badly & fatally at an early age, and some do not develop problems until they are older.
@@PhilosopherNewport he has not been vaccinated in in 17 yrs. I'm assuming he was once cuz he was neutered around that time. I took him in when the neighbor abandond him when she moved out. I do not agree with vax'ing critters, it's a load of bs. I suspect it was the revolution flea stuff gave him seizures, I'm not using it anymore. Using diatomaceous earth. He is 22 yrs old now and still spry for his age. My last female kitty was 24 when she passed, died naturally of old age, no health conditions. She only had vax when she got neutered bc it's the law. You are correct, vax nothing but toxic to make our critter friends sick. A big fk off and die to the fharm a cuetical industry i say. 🤣 💜💫💜freedom❤🇨🇦❤🇱🇷❤
Can cats who have liver diseases and has jaundice have CBD? Please anyone has answers. My boy was diagnosed with liver disease months ago and now he's having mild seizures twitching his mouth and head
Nathalie Burnett Personally I don't know anything about quality for those products because I haven't used them but my neighbor who was hit by a car and then horrible pain and therefore was unable to sleep swears buy Gorilla brand cannabis oil ... ...it comes in a tube and cost about $45 she said it lasts about a month for her and her 80 something year old mother who has also had great results with it
I just received two other names from doing some research today one is a company in Texas called Alamo Botanicals , the other is called cannazAll ... I'm not sure where the second one is located I haven't looked it up yet. Just make sure you don't get the hemp oil because it is not the same
Hi Nathalie. I'm using Mile High Pawducts based in Colorado cor my cats. It has worked wonders for pain relief in my part Siamese. He was very vocal about his injury & withn 2 days was much more confortable. I also tried it myself first.
I have a healthy 10 year old dog. About a year ago, he started to have seizures as soon as he step into the door of the boarding kennel or at the vets office. Our vet suggested our dog visit a neurologist, which we did. They concluded that we should monitor his seizures and have an MRI taken if the seizures increase. We figured it was just stress related because this wouldn't happen any other time. We are looking for a product that calm our high energy dog before visiting the vet or the kennel. Will CBD oil work right before we take him to the vet or kennel or is it recommend to give him doses several days in advance?
Research L-theanine, this gentleman has a video on it...I have a very anxious dog and CBD was too expensive for me to continue for his anxiety but the l-theanine does the trick! i have a 20 yr old cat who is a picture of good health suddenly have these episodes that last all day/night (could be siezures or strokes...) and the vet can't pin point whats wrong after alllll the tests....its horrible to watch as its been a few days now they are taking away her vitality...i just started her on cbd a few hours ago and so far amazingly she's improved...i can see the episodes come but they are 1/10th of what they were...we'll see how she does the rest of the day and night...but anyway, try the l-theanine :) watch his vid
One of our cats had seizures starting when she was just a kitten about a year old. The seizures were caused by parasites in her brain and her life expectancy at the time was about a year. She has been on phenobarbital for over 12 years and only has seizures if her blood levels are low which is rare. I would like to introduce CBD oil and see if we can reduce or eliminate the pheno. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@@jielu2072 She passed peacefully about a year ago. Rescuers were going to put her down but we took her in. Figured out what was wrong and gave her a good life for 13 years. She was so precious 💕.
Can CBD oil used for squirrels suffering from seizures??? If so plz Lemme know how to use and what quantity to be used for 9 mnth old male indian palm squirrel plssssss help me 😢😢
would this work on a chicken? I've been caring for a hen who started out with terrible worms I was able to save her the first time she tried to dye on me by force-feeding her till she would bounce back. she would go on over the next 10 months to have 3 more spells where she would go into prey mode and start to shut down and I would again force feed her and she would return to me. on the last time she took a turn for the worst she came out of it with force feeding but she would from that point on show signs of either vertigo or blindness I'm not sure what to call it she would no longer run to a tomato I dropped her, she would only drink and eat feed but when she did either she would take 3-4 tries at locating the bowl then when her beak would touch food she would eat it up. from here she developed seizures she has up to 10 a day when she's not in a fit shes otherwise very happy.I know my vet has told me that chickens can't have any pain meds bc it can kill them so I scared to try it without a vets approval please let me know what you think and if so how much for a 3-5lb bird.thank you for your time and all of these wonderfull videos.
Chickens are my thing... lol. Deworming starts with diatomaceous earth. A bit in feed, in a dust bath too. Braggs apple cider vinegar, 1 Tablespoon in 1 gallon of water helps a lot. Of course, make sure the hen has grit to chew up her food in her gizzard. Yes, CBD Oil, a tiny bit is positive for chickens. Best wishes!
I love your videos. So helpful !! I was wondering if you could do one on Blastomycosis so people can be aware & not lose there dogs to Blasto. My dog was diagnosed with it & there’s not much info especially from a vet who I would trust more than articles on internet. Thank you 😊
Dr Jones, u mentioned at the end of ur video (with your cat) to split the dose in two. Did u mean to say to split the 1mg a day into 1/2 mg twice a day for a total of 1mg per day? Or 1mg twice a day. From everything I've read I thought it's 1mg per 10 lbs of body weight per dose, and dosing should be twice a day 12 hrs apart.
Hello Doc Could you do a video about how to prevent muscle loss in dogs especially in the hind quarters due to artrithis and what can be done to increase muscle loss? Since older dogs can't walk or run as long due to artrithis etc what can be done to stop the loss? Also do you give CBD oil for inflammation or is it for pain? Do you give CBD oil before exercise or after, does it matter?
Pepper Love My neighbor who was hit by a car and could not sleep because of pain showed me her container of Green Gorilla brand cannabis oil.. it was in a tube and it's $45 a month and she swears by it she said she can sleep again for the first time since the accident and her 80 something year old mother also takes it and that the doctors know she is on it and that they have seen a difference in her.
My cat is very old 26...last night all.of a sudden fell on her side some type of seizurebI dont want to go for blood tests as I live in a very hot place and no air con in car and it will stress her also dont want her to get heatstroke...I will tey cbd shes not an easy cat to get in a cage and she will probably have an attack if in stress mode
Could CBD help with a spinal problem, my poor pal seemed to have lost the absorption impact fluid near his rear end, I doubt I described it correctly. It seemed to have leaked, leaving a section dry, as my vet put it. He is walking like he is drunk, I was told due to issue, he is uncertain as to where his rear legs actually are, hence the drunken state. My research has lead me to believe, most companies are passing hemp extract oil off as CDB.
Hello, thank you for your very informative video. I have a 16-yr old cat who just started having seizures. I have 5% cbd oil (specifically for pets). How much should I give a 5kg cat?
What's 5kg in lbs? I have a kitty he had one seizure two days later today he had four in 13 hours . No vet no cash but my kitty is about 2lbs he's a year old he's just stuck in two maybe three month old kitten body he was born w neuro issues and stuff how would I dose my kitty with it? I ordered CBD today after the second seizure in a row
It seems the common dropper/pipette is 1ml. It's been suggested to start our pets on 1ml per 10 pounds of weight. It has also been claimed that CBD is non-toxic and our pets will not overdose no matter how much we give them. It's also suggested that we start with the smallest dose first (1ml per 10 pounds), so if I were you, I'd start off with 1ml for your 4 pound dog. Make sure it is CBD oil and not just hemp oil. Hemp oil has zero CBD in it. Hemp oil is made only from the seeds of cannabis, whereas CBD is made with the buds, leaves & flowers. Best of luck to you.
Thank you Dr. Jones, great video... I have a 15 year old cat that has medical issues & is not eating, so having to feed him out of a syringe 4 X a day. I bought the FAIRWINDS CBD Companion Tincture in hopes that it will help eat & so I don't have to feed him out of a syringe. I'm having a difficult time & he's about 9 pounds or so, actually gained a little, but not near enough. Is what is listed on the bottle of CBD is, THCA-0.0, THC-20.0, CBDA-0.0, CBD-100.0, TTL 120.0 & the flavor is "Bacon", which had me concerned as there's salt in bacon, so went to the FAIRWINDS site & they say it's safe for them. But not sure IF I should buy another bottle of Pet CBD or not, so feeling so sCaReD & lOsT for my baby boy, any suggestions please?

He is my bestfriends therapy dog. and he is very close to him. and he would be devastated if he lost him. sincerly concerned jeffy. if anyone who reads this has any expriencce with using CBD oil for seizures and/or advice or helpful tips please respond. thank you.
I have the same problem. My dog is a 2 year old chihuahua and she suffers from seizures as well. I have spent so much money on vets and neurologists and I unfortunately can’t keep this up. If anyone can suggest the best CBD oil for my dog I would greatly appreciate it!
I have a 12.5 yrs old Dogue de Bordeaux. She is very old for her breed. She is getting smaller in her age at 70-80 lbs. Lately she is having seizures. Not very often but has had 3 now about 2 weeks apart. What dosage would you recommend. At this stage in her life we just want to make her comfortable. Thanks in advance
Can you say anything more about your dogs seizures and how bad they were because I have a friend who I am trying to convince to use the cannabis oil for her dog. Her poor dog is on phenobarbital and last month had 3 seizures during the night and this month has had 4 seizures within several hours during the night. I'm really hoping that somebody's comment here will convince her to get the cannabis oil for him... can you tell me any details at all how much it has made a difference with the seizures
Dr. Jones... I'm trying to find out what is a good quality vs. Not so good quality CBD oil. About what should I expect to spend for a vial/ bottle of oil? I'm guessing it comes in 1oz, 2oz bottles? I've seen $250 bucks out there and then I've seen considerably less. There's a lot of companies out there so it's kinda confusing. I'm hoping this might help with my cat who has what has been described as the kitty version of being on the autism spectrum. We cannot fix his brain of course but we can certainly keep trying to help him. We've tried homeopathic drops made up by my vet, rescue remedy(Bach), pheromones, alternative treatments and therapies. We are pretty sure there was either a birth accident or something happened during early foetal development. He looks fine but isn't. He never learned what he should have from momma. He was rejected at the age of three weeks mostly and fed supplementally. He was not a runt. Only three in the litter. He did okay for the first two years and then regressed after that. He's very sweet but withdrawn. Very much like on the autism spectrum. Now his brother wants to be aggressive with him bc he knows he's different like all animals will do. And pheromones aren't helping him either. This only started when he regressed. Also he has diminished sense of smell and diminished pain response amongst his issues so maybe that's why the other stuff(pheromones especially)didn't affect him. I just dunno. He can taste but barely can smell. He's farsighted we think too. So I suppose my first question is really could CBD oil help one or the other or both with mood? I just haven't talked to my vet yet about it because it just hit me tonight(it's a Friday night)after watching him struggle again to just simply BE. The struggle is Real. He could be easily regress to a failure to thrive at this point, I think if I didn't watch him so closely. Thank you Dr. Jones for your input and your time. Kindly... wanda,Simon and Giorgio (Yes, these are the same kitties I was asking about that I cannot get off of kibble for going on 6 years now. Tried it all.( homemade food, raw diet, canned foods, they won't touch it. They'd rather starve and will.)One has starved himself repeatedly to the point we're concerned about hepatic lipidosis. Most difficult cats I've EVER had in 38 years.😔 They are blood brothers from different litters two years apart. I did not know the younger one was special needs like THIS.)
feedwinnie I don't know about can I have at all brands for epilepsy but I will tell you what my neighbor told me... She was hit by a car and in a lot of pain she said that Green Gorilla brand cannabinol cost her $45 a month and she says it is allowed her to be able to sleep at night again because she's not in all that pain. She also said her 80 something year old mother is on it and her doctors know and they have seen a difference in her because of that oil.
gardensofthegods Thank you so kindly for your sweet reply input. I did a little research on the Green Gorilla site. It comes it several concentrations...confusing, that being said it led me do a little a more thinking and some research. What I have seen is mostly the CBD oil is being used on dogs... maybe some horses. Cats livers have a hard time processing MCT fats and can develop a serious problem called hepatic lipidosis. Something I'm very familiar with. It's why I don't use coconut oil or olive oil FREELY, freely being the key word here. Judiciously, sparingly yes, but not FREELY. I did see on the Green Gorilla site that they DID have a bottle specifically labeled for cats and that bottle WAS in the $200. + range, unlike the ones for the canines that were in the price range you described. From that I understood, you start out slowly with a couple of drops(or sprays as they referred to their dosage) twice a day and build up from there, depending on the animal's condition you are treating. Most reports I see, people use drops, NOT sprays and increase dosage that way. I am thinking the pet you are talking about that was hit by car was a canine? Maybe not? I was prompted/ led to another video when researching that does warn pet owners to speak to vets who are MORE experienced with CATS and CBD oil first because cats ARE very, very different in how they metabolize EVERYTHING. I don't know if in Giorgio's case we'd have to gradually increase his dose or not but in either case, the daily ingestion of the carrier oil does concern me even in small doses because it is daily ingestion. I dunno exactly, I could be off here...MCT's(such as coconut oil and olive oil which is what the CBD oil was carried in)for cats can be used but for short term use not long term. Cats need Omegas(fish oil) and that's what their liver metabolizes. I really appreciate your sweet help and input and coming to my aid on this matter. I had hoped somebody from the community would offer something, anything for us to work on! Today Giorgio is having a good day!😊❤ You were so kind to help!Back to research bc I'm not done... Dr. Jones???😳 (I am editing my response to you gardensofthegods... I completely misunderstood your reply at first and thought an animal had been injured by the car. I proofread my reply and saw you were indeed talking about a human and I am terribly embarrassed!😔 I ask your forgiveness for my faux pas...Mea culpa!🤗)
feedwinnie hahaha that is funny that you caught that because for a minute I got confused and I was thinking I don't remember someone's dog getting hit by a car The brand that is pricey the $200 one for cats I wonder if there's any way you could contact somebody there and ask them why it is so expensive... Maybe they will explain to you about the problem cats have with metabolizing the oil and then you will see that even though it's expensive it might be worth it at least for now until you can do more research and find a cheaper one that is advantageous for cats. ... I think I kind of already knew that about cats but had forgotten so I'm glad that you reminded me. ..... there were two other brands but I didn't look into them one is called cannazall oil and another company is called Alamo Botanicals and that's in Texas but I don't know anything about them it's just that people on RUclips said they got good results with them for their pets but I can't remember if they were all dogs or not. .... I guess the best thing to do is visit all the vids where people are giving it to their cats there's probably not many vids on that but maybe you could at least ask around ... and ask them if they realize that the cats have a problem with the oil and if there are using a special kind which is specifically for cats. Good luck with all that ..it is no fun having a sick pet.
gardensofthegods thank you again!❤ I'll definitely be sure to check out the CBD oil distributor in Texas as that's where we live and the other one as well. And I'll keep on looking, researching and watching other videos as well. I haven't had the chance to talk/ visit with my own vet in depth yet on this issue about CBD oil as it just came to mind like I said last Friday night while I watching Giorgio having a particularly not so good day. I'm just so darn frustrated for him, for both of my boys. Hoping Dr. Jones still might have a word or two for us re: this matter. 😉 Thanks again for your insight and interest and help! You are so kind! Have a wonderful week! 😊🐾🐈
feedwinnie ..I'm in Texas too.. in the suburban Dallas area but not originally from the south. By the way ,I looked at another channel and the person suggested giving your dog a little bit of the CBD oil right before a thunderstorm.... my friend's dog had bad seizures this month and last month when it was raining out although this time there wasn't any Thunder as far as she knows, as she was asleep and it was in between 3 and 6 in the morning. .. but I did actually see on a website that even barometric changes can trigger epileptic attacks in dogs.. as well as too much cold air or too much heat.. just something to think about and maybe ask Dr. Jones if you do indeed get to speak with him.
My dog has seizures. She usually has 1 every month. Now she is getting them like every 7-15 days... I want to try CBD oil… Where to buy the best quality CBD for her?
My cat has been having seizures for about 3 years, I think it may be linked to her kidney issues which I've managed to control and slow down with homemade chicken soup carcass recipe and then putting the most trusted CBD oil in the ramekin dish. She responded well to one type but I am now unable to get it anymore. It lessened her seizures from 1 a day to 1 every few weeks and then 1 a month. In the past few months since not being able to to buy this particular oil anymore she is having 2 per day and it's really upset the whole family as she's such a sweet loving animal, fallen down the stairs off the bannisters from great heights, out the kitchen window onto the bonnet of the car. We're talking many a time she has fallen, I mean how do you stop a cat going up high. It's natural. This Cbd oil just isn't working now and I have been a HUGE pusher of it over the last 3 years. I have just bought some valerian to try as I'm desperate now. Don't want to lose her just yet. She's nearly 15 but animals are well looked after. I refuse to medicate with big pharmas products. I'd sooner put her down than expose her to that rubbish. It's a shame because for years I really really thought cbd was the saviour and time is of the essence so could keep trying different oils but nothing has worked like this one I once got from someone I knew who has funnily enough been headhunted by the BMA for aiding and even curing peoples cancer. Shame, he was a genuine guy doing good in the world.
Thank you for the information last year 2021 my vet did full blood work everything was normal and just stated she has neurological disorder no medication for it just an antibiotic she had another one September 26. 2022 for about seven minutes was out of it for a couple of hours and relaxed and went to sleep she did eat she's on a raw meat diet of chicken also we gave her half of teaspoon of organic honey gonna definitely start using this for my dachshund who is apx 16 years old according to the person who gave her to us.
My dog began to have seizures and not having any money to take her to the vet, I started giving her 4 drops of CBD oil every day and her seizures stopped. She isn't 100% back to normal but she is getting better every day. Its been about 2.5 weeks and no seizures. Its a miracle! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing, Donna!

Donna Keeley hey what kind of CBD oil did you use !?
Wow really that is amazing
please help others and share your experience - what kind of CBD oil did you use, full spectrum etc? thanks lots ⚘
Thanks
@@helpfulnatural you are wonderful people, bless you
You rock! Thank you so much! My puppy is 3 and half months old and just had her first seizure with us last night. We were scared, freaked and tried calling every pet emergency place but we didn't have enough money and they refused to help. This gives me hope. We're in Colorado so thanks to you I'm reminded of an option I'm willing to try and can afford. thank you again!
we have been using CBD for a couple of years now and our Simon has gone from a seizure every 6-8 weeks to one about every 6 months ❤️
Can I use the cbd along with the seizure meds
Thanks!
Dont use glass droppers or syringes tho.use plastic glass can break and be swallowed
Beetle Juice
Wow...
Rest in peace our fallen comrade ♥️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and God bless you
Welcome
Thank you doctor for this video. You explain things in simply ways we can understand. Do you have an updated version please.
@cyndiwilliams4177 which brand do you use?
WOW................................why has this been kept away from people that love their dogs ? Yet the Drs put them Phenobarb which attacks the liver and kidneys
My dog started seizures at 3.5 y/o
He has been on Keppra 750mg 3x a day and still gets 2 weekly to 3 weekly.
Hoping for a miracle
thanks for making and putting these videos online.
Thank you so much for your help with seizures in my Aussie.
I have known of this via the Canine Health Concern run by Catherine O'Driscoll here in the UK. It really does help with dogs and cats that have fits. Great subject . Thank you :)
Thanks
How do you start your dog on CBD Oil while on Pheno?
Z Park
My doctor told us that if my dog has no seizures in 10-14 days I can stop the Keppra and just keep him on phenobarbital.
G Cstlo hey how did your research go?
@@gcastillo6061 how was it?
Thank you Dr. J. As always....very informative.
My cat is 3 years old and perfectly healthy. He just started having partial seizures. He's been getting them every hour. I just got CBD oil prescribed for him and I pray to God it works. I don't know what's going on
Did it help? Do tell. Nothing is more important & helpful than personal experience & testimonials. Cheers.
@@PhilosopherNewport unfortunately it did not. He actually was not perfectly healthy like the blood tests had shown. He was born with a heart condition and had to be euthanized.💔
@@offbeatartistry Thank you for replying. That's unbearable news. I'm so sorry to hear it.
How did it go?
Brilliant! Thank you for your wisdom and caring!
Thank you! I'm hoping this will help my my little granddog.
Welcome
Thanks for the video Doc very good
I’m from the UK
Not by a longshot.
this is horrible am so sorry you had to go through this devastating experience and loss and l could not agree with you more, we can always do something and hope for the best outcome, going to buy CBD oil for my cats seasures, good luck to all of us who love their animals, pls keep me posted

Where is a trust worthy place to buy cbd old for my cat with seizures?
Wow my husky just started having seizures and she also just had the rabies vaccine about a week ago as well!
Hi sir. I'm from Malaysia so how I can buy this oil because for my dog also have seizure.
After several more months there was no change._
I decided to try 'Angle Flavorless' CBD oil.
Questions:
Did you ever vaccinate the dog?
Thanks- unfortunately yes it seems
I'm trying to do some legwork on research for a friend of mine whose dog has very bad epilepsy and is on the phenobarbital and I'm trying to convince her to try alternative methods such as the cannabis oil.
I wonder if somewhere out there somebody has started a website where people with epileptic pets are talking to each other about alternative methods and the cannabis oil... so that they can talk to each other about what kind of luck they've had and their different experiences
Allahu snackbar
I have a feeling those vets might not want you to know about the CBD oil... a lot of us know that people who are given scripts for Dangerous very ,very harmful drugs by their Physicians are not being told the truth about those drugs... even though those doctors took an oath to do no harm... so I wouldn't be surprised given that a lot of those doctors are getting kickbacks and getting paid pretty well for those dangerous Scripts don't be surprised if maybe it's happening within the veterinarian Community ,too.

Madison...
The seizures of my dog is continues because of distemper, what should i do doc? It never stops and It become worst 😭

Can cats take CBD if they take meloxicam/metacam?
I purchased your CBD and 3 droppers full and its gone. The bottle wasn't close to being full... disappointed
Thank you again.

From what I hear good quality cannabis oil is not supposed to have any THC in it at all.
Thank you
Did you find out? I want to know the same thing.

Can cats who have liver diseases and has jaundice have CBD? Please anyone has answers. My boy was diagnosed with liver disease months ago and now he's having mild seizures twitching his mouth and head

How to sensibly buy best quality cbd products for my dog? I've heard how CBD dog treats could benefit your dog; reduce seizures, anxiety, pain etc.

Personally I don't know anything about quality for those products because I haven't used them but my neighbor who was hit by a car and then horrible pain and therefore was unable to sleep swears buy Gorilla brand cannabis oil ...
...it comes in a tube and cost about $45 she said it lasts about a month for her and her 80 something year old mother who has also had great results with it
I just received two other names from doing some research today one is a company in Texas called Alamo Botanicals , the other is called cannazAll ...

Do you have any advice for pets who have stopped responding to CBD treatment?

One of our cats had seizures starting when she was just a kitten about a year old. The seizures were caused by parasites in her brain and her life expectancy at the time was about a year. She has been on phenobarbital for over 12 years and only has seizures if her blood levels are low which is rare. I would like to introduce CBD oil and see if we can reduce or eliminate the pheno. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What did you end up doing?
Hi Joe Collins, how’s your cat? Did you wean off the Phenoleptil successfully into CBD oil please ? Best wishes for you and your cat

would this work on a chicken?
Thanks- it may..chickens are not my thing :-)
Thank you 😊
Good suggestion, Thanks
Dr Jones, u mentioned at the end of ur video (with your cat) to split the dose in two. Did u mean to say to split the 1mg a day into 1/2 mg twice a day for a total of 1mg per day? Or 1mg twice a day. From everything I've read I thought it's 1mg per 10 lbs of body weight per dose, and dosing should be twice a day 12 hrs apart.
Yes that is correct- split the 1mg/10lbs daily into divided doses
@@VeterinarySecrets that's not the same now I'm really confused

Hello Doc
Could you do a video about how to prevent muscle loss in dogs especially in the hind quarters due to artrithis and what can be done to increase muscle loss? Since older dogs can't walk or run as long due to artrithis etc what can be done to stop the loss?
Also do you give CBD oil for inflammation or is it for pain? Do you give CBD oil before exercise or after, does it matter?

My neighbor who was hit by a car and could not sleep because of pain showed me her container of Green Gorilla brand cannabis oil.. it was in a tube and it's $45 a month and she swears by it she said she can sleep again for the first time since the accident and her 80 something year old mother also takes it and that the doctors know she is on it and that they have seen a difference in her.

I would start with 3mg per day, if no change up that to 3mg twice/day
@@VeterinarySecrets Thank you. how many drops is that? About 6?
What's 5kg in lbs? I have a kitty he had one seizure two days later today he had four in 13 hours . No vet no cash but my kitty is about 2lbs he's a year old he's just stuck in two maybe three month old kitten body he was born w neuro issues and stuff how would I dose my kitty with it? I ordered CBD today after the second seizure in a row
What if your dog is only 4 pounds?
Hi- if it helps, continue- it does have THC so it should help
Can you recommend a specific cbd oil to buy? My French bulldog has lymphoma and It’s a bit hard to find the right cbd tincture to buy.

Hello, my bestfriend has a dog and he has seizures and usually 3-3 1/2 months inbetween occurances. he is a mix breed half papin and not sure other half he thinks dotson. ( i say his breed as i dont know if this is important to know for his treatment.) He weighs appoximently 15-25 pounds.
And today he had 2 seizures one in the morning and 6-7 hours later had another seizure that night. they last estimated 10-15 seconds. I would like to know if CBD oil would be useful to help lower the occurances or stop him from seizing.
And what is the best product for his aligment. please respond ASAP. He is my bestfriends therapy dog. and he is very close to him. and he would be devastated if he lost him. sincerly concerned jeffy.
if anyone who reads this has any expriencce with using CBD oil for seizures and/or advice or helpful tips please respond. thank you.

Dr.
Kindly...

(Yes, these are the same kitties I was asking about that I cannot get off of kibble for going on 6 years now.

I don't know about can I have at all brands for epilepsy but I will tell you what my neighbor told me...
She was hit by a car and in a lot of pain she said that Green Gorilla brand cannabinol cost her $45 a month and she says it is allowed her to be able to sleep at night again because she's not in all that pain.
She also said her 80 something year old mother is on it and her doctors know and they have seen a difference in her because of that oil.
gardensofthegods
Thank you so kindly for your sweet reply input.
Dr. Jones???😳
(I am editing my response to you gardensofthegods...
I completely misunderstood your reply at first and thought an animal had been injured by the car. I proofread my reply and saw you were indeed talking about a human and I am terribly embarrassed!😔 I ask your forgiveness for my faux pas...Mea culpa!🤗)
feedwinnie hahaha that is funny that you caught that because for a minute I got confused and I was thinking I don't remember someone's dog getting hit by a car
The brand that is pricey the $200 one for cats I wonder if there's any way you could contact somebody there and ask them why it is so expensive...
Thanks again for your insight and interest and help!
Hi Melissa. We are launching a CBD oil partnership soon! Please stay tuned!
Matt B hey there which oil did you use ?
Thank you for the information last year 2021 my vet did full blood work everything was normal and just stated she has neurological disorder no medication for it just an antibiotic she had another one September 26. 2022 for about seven minutes was out of it for a couple of hours and relaxed and went to sleep she did eat she's on a raw meat diet of chicken also we gave her half of teaspoon of organic honey gonna definitely start using this for my dachshund who is apx 16 years old according to the person who gave her to us.
