Harrison Smith got me into wanting to play Safety because of how the Vikings used him as a disguise pre-snap, only for him to drop back to the deep middle after the ball is snapped, that’s what intrigued me into playing Safety. But as of rn I’m in love with Minkah Fitzpatrick’s game, that Brotha is a GameChanger no doubt!
Hello coach I'm facing gonna face a team that use a really weird formation so they only use 1 receiver and 3 running back and 2 te. There's a lot of space for the wr to run routes and I only have safety help for deep balls and since he is 5y from the line he comes full speed how can I stop him from creating separation with me
Steve atwater. Im like the only british broncos fan lol. Anyways thanks for the tips. This helps as the only defensive coach is a line backer. (Tho i have been lucky enough to be in a team with former nfl players as coaches in the uk)
how can i get better at reading the whole field? my DB coach made a point to me out of watching the quarterback above all, but as i'm getting more reps in i realized i'll have to be able to see where the WRs are going too so i can break up a pass on both ends
You need a full understanding of how offenses work. You have to be able to see the QB and understand what is coming based on what he's doing. When you understand formations, route combinations and are now reading the QB, you will be able to read the whole field
Question, what is the best way to split the seam when 2 seams are ran on the hashes while in cover 3. And what is the best way to drop back into that coverage quick while reading a wing T formation
I am assuming these are two separate questions. If you are the free safety in the post vs seams on both hashes you read the QB. Weave to where he looks and only open and run to the seam he is looking at when he takes his front hand off of the ball. I am going to need you to clarify your 2nd question more
You are a savior of us safety's
🙌🏽
