    This is a card that's become a staple in my wallet too, and it's one I don't see myself needing to cancel as long as I'm happy to book one trip a year through the Capital One travel portal to activate that travel credit. Even just a rental car or two per year makes it worth it! Great stuff Kevin! 👊🏼

    • @KevinYang

      Totally agree, and with the relatively easy-to-use perks (probably second to the CSR), it's usually near the top of the list to use too! Let's hope it doesn't get any sort of devaluations... Thanks for the support Spencer!

      The Alaska card is great if you'll make use of the companion fare regularly. Venture X will be a good all rounder travel card, but I'd also consider the Amex Platinum. • @billwright2176
    @billwright2176 10 месяцев назад +1

    So I see it as this.
    Those who don't like chase and the portal redemption somehow accept the VX and its portal to use the credit.
    Those who like the VX put forth the x2 everything multiplier. Those same people will be using the portal as already mentioned. They have to as it's the entire argument for the VX credit. Chase CFU has 1.5 but paired with the CSR everything is a minimum of 2.25 if used in the portal..
    Transfers is a different topic. Personally it seems to be more direct for domestic with chase.
    About the only point in VX is additional access for others to PP lounges. But at a loss to access to restaurants.
    I see the hype. I know for sure the VX card isn't for me. If I explained my view do you also see an apparent hypocrisy in the argument by many who favor the vx?

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  10 месяцев назад +3

      That's a great point! I think there are a few other things:
      - Simplicity, knowing that with 2 credits you can more than break even, and get a pretty solid value with the 2x multiplier with 1 card on travel through the portal OR your own travel charges (which is a big differentiator)
      - Transfers, for sure it really depends on where you'd like to fly. Personally, I've been enjoying Aeroplan so all the major transfer partners work for me
      - Portal differences. The capital one portal has been way easier to use in my experience, and have given the best prices vs. Chase and others
      All in all though, it's personal preference on what the individual values. If not the VX, sounds like you may value a card like the CSR more?

    • @druiz012
      @druiz012 10 месяцев назад +2

      I have both the C1VX and the CSR... I like to travel internationally and I think the C1 has some valuable transfer partners... Turkish, Avianca are 2 very valuable ones IMHO that Chase doesn't have. I've also been fortunate enough to hit the Dallas C1 lounge a few times. Also, like Kevin says. I've found the C1 travel portal to consistently have better prices than the Chase Portal.
      I Also love my CSR as 3x travel, PP restaurants the very easy to use $300 travel credit and my 2 yearly visits to Boston (Sapphire Lounge) with the fam make it valuable to me. Diversifying ecosystem imo is also a smart thing to do.

    • @anthonychen6237
      @anthonychen6237 10 месяцев назад +2

      You certainly have a good point! But for me, the reason is more on the AUs. I need 4 AUs so VX is free while CSR needs $300 per year. Of course, you could say the access to restaurants cover the fees but it really depends on individual. Neither 1.5 nor 2.25 makes no differences to me as I always transfer to partners to get business tickets which easily 5+ cents per mile.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  10 месяцев назад

If that's a constant issue for you, you are using credit cards incorrectly i'm afraid. They are not meant to be used as loans or to buy things you can't afford.
