As one of those "50+ers" I completely agree with the idea of, hey just tell me where to be at what time and the take me one a journey of discovery! I've had my fun with planning and do it on your own style. Now it is time to just enjoy the experience. Lol I have a small photography business that is more about inspiration people with physical limitations to to step out of thier comfort zone and try something new. In my case, the thing I found is photography. I am legally blind and photography is my way to interpret what I can see and can't see. Love to see you killing it with travel and teaching us OLD people how to see the world through a lens! Loos like you had an amazing time. Enjoy the land down under!
What a pleasure it was to have you as one of our masters. Loved your friendly smile, comments and all your tremendous help during this unique time in Iceland. I would also like to say a BIG THANKS for including me in your video. Not bad for an older person 😂Have a great time in Australia and a safe journey back home. P.S. My wife said that's what I look like when I'm asleep only standing up (in the cave scene)
Was so great to meet you and great video! You have some mad creative skills! Thanks for the shout out above and you are such a good person to be on a tour with - amazing talent, social, authentic and connect really well with people. Best to you, see you on the next one! :-)
After 20 years in weddings I can confirm that spending the entire day with clients, even the BEST ones, is completely draining...no matter if you're an extrovert or introvert. I've spent up to 5 days straight with clients at destination shoots and wow, I didn't want to see people for a week after that LOL. It's a lot mentally to be on your best behavior, directing, teaching, engaging, and getting to know people for that long. It's no joke!
Hi Sarah, just subscribed your channel recently and I'm loving it. Nice video about the photo tour and I agree with most of your positions and on: how to be. Regards, Rui
Hi Sarah. Thank you so much for putting this together and sharing your experience. I have been on a number of shorter photo tours and find them invaluable learning experiences. As I gain more experience I would love to do things like this to share my passion with others. You are very inspiring
interesting to hear your experience offering tours. I am thinking about doing this with infrared cameras and the special infrared post processing for false colored pictures. So I can learn something due to your experiences. Thanks and Bye!
Thanks for telling us your expertise on this matter, sarah 🙏🏻 I have been luck 🙌🏻 participating in several Photo Tours (normally one daytime period) that speeded up my learning process of Composition & Technics through the sharing of different "eye's view" among the persons 💡 But, lately, I have also started helping the master Photographer with the questions of the members in the groups (especially when it is a place that I have already been there and my anxiety level is low 😅) and, other times, I offer my hands on to prepare the conditions for Outdoor Workshops (checking the places previously, assuring safe and acomodation conditions, points to enable great shots etc etc etc). I can say that sometimes all of it leaves me exhaust by the end of the day 🤷🏻♂️ But, it worth each moment, every point taken on learning and the new friendships created 🙌🏻 See ya, blue skies 🤙🏻🍀📸
Sarah, 2 things. I actually was supposed to go on the Iceland Photo Tour, but school got in the way. Second, if you need help collaborating on a Skylum video, I'm a Luminar insider and have been using Luminar since the 1st version was released, all the way up to Neo, which is the current release.
I was in Europe for the month of June I tresred it like a photo tour and photographed upwards of 4,000 pictures with my camera so I understand where you are coming from
I wish I had the cash to join tours/workshops like this. In the future I'm hoping to do at least one a year. Last June I assisted Scott Aspinall on his southern Saskatchewan workshop and it was quite fun! Even seen 3 tornados on our storm chase day! I'll forward you the promo video I made for him.
Enjoying the energy. While your making the long distanced travels how about a mention of gear selection ( long lens, short lens, big tripod,…, not brands. ). Then how to transport it.
In addition to a video some of your special tips regarding Neo, I would love to see a video of your workflow, from camera to completion. You do such beautiful work, and I recognize the most important part is your spectacular photos is the composition, with or without adding self portraits to the mix. But, assuming we have a good photo to start with, I'd love to know your general workflow, including Neo in the mix. I no longer am a member of the Adobe fan club, and I didn't leave because of the subscriptions 🙂. I left, after over 10 years, because it just became too slow and cumbersome and I was tired of throwing horsepower at it. I run a new Mackbook Pro M1 with 32 cores, 64 gb ram and 4 tb of SSD. After this upgrade, I was still disappointed with Adobe's performance and I have never really liked storing my photos in the cloud; 1. the security issue, and 2. the upload speeds when you are traveling in remote areas. I now use Mylio as my DAM with Topaz Photo AI as a preprocessor (as needed), Neo as my primary editor and when I need "super powers" I use ON1. Thanks so much for all your great videos and beautiful work. You are truly an inspiration!
For those of you who can't afford something like this don't feel like you can't. Do the research of the best places and times to shoot. Being by yourself is not bad and you can save a ton of money.
Agreed! 💛 Well said. There is so much more to a photo tour than just taking photos. It’s always a great idea to spend time alone exploring areas close to you. The tours are always there 🤗
