You never followed up. *A:* This was totally my bad, I didn't realize I forgot that section. For people that want to use the dual audio setup, the Comica BoomXD would be the better options than the Blink500 because the Blink500 is not capable of splitting the Transmitters into their own separate stereo channels (left and right), it will just place both microphones into both channels make it harder to edit out the other speakers noises when they are not speaking. (Think like heavy breathing, accidentally touches the mic, hair or fabric rubs against mic...etc) So for people that'd like to have full control, or not, the BoomXD gives you that option as you can switch between mono or stereo split. The Blink500 can only do a mono split.
Thanks for the content! I have a question. Will the Comica or Blink received clip to a GoPro Hero 8 with the media mod kit, without protruding into the view?

Hey hey Haroon! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad you found this crazy long video haha! Of course its a bit old and the companies have come out with newer version with better updates. I have reviewed pretty much most of them. I like my Saramonic UWMIC9 dual channel over the past 3 years or so and over the past year, I have been filming most of my videos using my Saramonic Blink 500 b2. I don't want to separate the channels and I don't do post production, no time for it. I might upgrade both channels (whichever of UWMIC9 or Blink500 b2 I use) to some better lav microphones (maybe even an expensive $130 or so Sennheiser?) if that might help eventually.
Hey hey Charbax! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad the UWmic9 has done so well for you! Right now my favorite dual channel system is the BoomXU (uhf system). It performed very well in my test and will be using bringing them with the RODE GO when I go for interview shoots just so that I am covered between 2.4ghz systems and a 500mhz system. You can check out that review here to see if it could work for your needs! ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker that comica dual channel looks really good. If I was buying something now I would definitely consider it. But I was buying a new compact dual system about a year ago so then the $249 dual blink500 b2 system seemed to be the right choice. The main thing I need is to upgrade it with some compact lightweight triple power banks but it defeats the purpose quite a bit. The short battery is ny main issue with them. Why I still want to use the uwmic9 a bit more. Does the comica have longer battery runtime? Wow I didn't know that comica was on old fashioned 500mhz I thought it would be one of those new 2.4ghz systems too. Does it auto channel swap or something like that too? I am definitely checking your review thanks a lot.
Hey hey Atamaii! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I haven't tried the newer Hollyland Mics, but they do seem quite good! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker thanks for the quick reply. Among the mikes I have, I believe the Hollyland is better than Comica, but not nearly on par with Sony wireless with a good lapel mic. However, the Hollyland package works well for me. I hand a transmitter to a presenter, they clip it on, and good to go. You can see the mic in my video, but no big white branding. Its good enough for RUclips.
Hey hey again Kit! Hahah 55 minutes of accumulated review elements with a long analyzed "learning section". However I am very excited about the new way I am now going to standardizing the audio quality tests. This was the one thing I couldn't figure out for the last year of doing all these mic tests, but now I finally found a way and I can objectively look at the results and hear what going on. The next thing I need is a Mixpre-3 II to really take this to a whole other level! Hope you are well my friend, stay safe and healthy! P.S. The last 20 minutes of this video is just outdoor and indoor distance Line of site tests lol.

It was really nice to follow The Adventures of Eddy Wilson all the way to the end. This very thorough review really helped clear up a bunch of the questions and concerns I was having with regards to acquiring a new wireless mic set. I already own a single set of the RØDE Filmmaker kit, but I was sort of on the lookout for something smaller and more flexible. Was seriously considering the Wireless GO, but I'd really love a 2 channel setup and don't mind having to EQ, so I think I'll end up with the Comica BoomX-D D2. Thanks for your very solid work on this! Much appreciated.

As fellow RUclipsrs always trying to improve quality with sound being super important, this was a fantastic review and we here, highly appreciated the work that went into this. We need something where we can work away from our dedicated desk Mic, that we can take on the move and this was exactly what we wanted. Thank you! I personally think the Rode just has that little bit of everything, portable, versatile and still has a decent sound for the price.
Hey hey SwitchWatch! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm so glad to hear this video was helpful! The RØDE definitely is still a great all rounder, I wish something like this was around years ago, but its here now! @@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks buddy, just bought the Rodecaster also. What a way to get broke quickly but I am on a quest to get as good a sound for the pound as possible. Stay safe and keep up the awesome work. Subbed, to see what other cool vids we will come across. All the best, Juan.
wow. im impressed with how much of this video i watched - and im even more impressed with this video. thank you for being so thorough. my sister has a rode wireless (which we record our podcast on right now, with surprisingly good quality) and i was thinking of getting the blink 500, but ive decided to just invest a little more into the rode as well! thank you! if i have one bit of feedback, it would be that when a mic wasnt performing on a rest, they stayed on screen in their column but were just dimmed out or something. i started getting confused when the rode disapeared and didnt dare try to go back because the video is so long and clicking the time bar would be so imprecise. but again, super appreciate this video, thanks for all your work and offering it here for us all.
Hey hey What The Phalange?! Podcast! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm so glad this video was helpful for your decision between the Blink500 and another Rode Go! Thank you so much for the feedback, its definitely hard to try and cram that many tests side by side so that you can hear the difference immediately instead of hear one and then hear another late. Pro tip for you if I make another long comparison video like this. If you want to go back and hear something on a laptop or computer, use the arrow keys and it'll scroll back 5 or 10 seconds at a time depending on what you have set in your settings I think. If you're on the phone app, double tap on the left or right side of the video frame and it'll do the same (The more you tap the more it'll skip instead of double tapping a bunch of times) Hope this helps and I'll continue to do my best with my reviews and content! Before watching the video, Imma say the comica. 2 transmitters 1 receiver and able to seperate the audio channels, and the low price (around rode wireless go) and decent sound quality
Hey hey again Sergio! I actually have the D2 kit that I reviewed last week, for this test comparison I am only using it as a Single Ch. It definitely needs a little EQ if people prefer the sound of the RODE, I think I matched it pretty close later in the video, not perfect, but close.
@@TLDR_filmmaker What do you think about using better quality lavs with the Comica kit? Is it the bundled lav mics that suck or are the preamps/converters in the units bad? I'm asking because I have a good pair of wired lav mics I'd throw on to the Comica, the features price and form factor to me make it seem like the best wireless lav kit on the market right now for budget filmmakers and vloggers, but the sound quality out of the box from what I've heard is really poor.
Hi TLDR, Nice review. Appreciate all the effort to put this thorough review. I have the Rode Wireless Go and looking at the Pico for some weddings and jobs where the extra battery life is handy. All seems to work well enough and it comes down to use case, budget, and preference.
Hey hey again Nomad 24! Most definitely! The RODE GO and Picomic are the ones I deploy the most, I feel both handle all the situations that I generally film in. It's so crazy to go to a shoot and have these two super small setups when I used to bring the larger Uwmic9 system. Saves so much space in my Pelican Case!

Thank you for a fantastic comparison review. Having access to your knowledge and expertise is such an incredible boon to learners like myself. Thank you.
“The Adventures of Eddy Wilson“ Thank you very much, brother, for your reviews and comparisons! They are always extremely informative and helpful and done in a very professional way. I have been a filmmaker for over 40 years, and in my retirement years, for my budget, I have chosen the Comica Boom-XD Dual-Channel Wireless Mic system. Your review basically confirmed my own research, and helped me to finally make up my mind. Thanks! PS - I do all of my editing for commercial television, cable television, and RUclips productions on my Apple iMac Pro using Apple Final Cut Pro X...
Hey hey Outpost! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! You're most welcome! So glad you enjoyed this and other videos! I will continue to do my best with my reviews and content for the community! I was one of the few that thought FCPX was just fine for most content creation, it's definitely gotten way better since Ver.1. Now I just really hope they create some way to submix audio before going into a master. It can be done with compounding clips, but unfortunately when I did that sometimes audio would just not render out and you'd hear silence. No rhyme or reason, but I no longer trust it. It actually happened in this project too. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
TLDR Filmmaker I get what you’re saying, but I normally pre-mix my audio using my Universal Audio “Arrow” Thunderbolt-3 Audio Interface. I use it’s virtually unlimited digital plug-ins within my iMac Pro as a digital audio workstation to premix my audio...
Huh... This wouldn't necessarily work for a feature film would it? For me I'd like to have the submix after I've assembled the final cut before I begin working on audio, sfx, etc.
TLDR Filmmaker You know what, I didn’t really explain it all right, but I am ALSO able to actually do this AFTER I have assembled all my cuts, and right before I do my final color grading in Final Cut Pro. I can apply audio post sweetening using this system and it’s plug-ins to individual cuts, certain sections, or to the entire production timeline using this method. I may not still be explaining it correctly, but it works for me, and I do a lot of long production with it (half hour and one hour shows), in addition to TV commercials.
Hey hey Melissa! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad this video was helpful! It is a older video and most of these wireless mics have newer versions already. Great review thinking about purchasing the Blink 500 or Comica for my wife and me for a two-person vlog being that you can hook up two mics to one transmitter using a Sony point and shoot camera. Which one would you recommend? We would probably use it with two rode mic lav go microphones. 😁
Hey hey Two Modern Vegans! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Because you are a two people duo team, I would personally say the Comica because you can split you and your wife's audio into left and right channels. This will just overall be helpful for you when you edit. The Blink500 does not split, so if one of you coughs or the mic catches a lot of noise somewhere else, you wouldn't be able to edit that out in post. Here's what I mean by working with a dual audio setup in post: ruclips.net/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/видео.html However the main thing you want to make sure is that your Sony Point and Shoot camera has a true stereo mic jack. If it does not, then having the comica won't matter as your camera will automatically make it a dual mono audio source instead of a stereo. Lastly, as far as the Comica is concerned, the included lav mic seemed to perform about the same as the other more expensive mics, mainly because of the pre-amps I think. So you may not see too much benefit between the included and 3rd party mic as I showed in tests here. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
TLDR Filmmaker Thank you so much that was such a detailed response you are the best!! We just purchased the Sony ZV1. So we plan to vlog with that, and our regular youtube camera is the a7iii, but we use the rode NTG shotgun mic for that. We will get the Comica instead of the Blink 500. Thanks again!! 😁

One of the best comparison videos I've ever seen. For sound quality, it seems the UWMIC9 system is the best, followed by the Sennheiser XSW. Hopefully, you'll get one of the new Blink 500 Pro systems to see how it compares with this group. Also interested in how the Comica BoomX-U compares, even though I'll never buy a Comica product due to the way they've treated some of the reviewers.
Hey hey again Alan! I actually already reviewed those! Blink500 Pro: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html Boom-XU: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html I'll have to do a "favorite picks" review at some point as I have reviewed so many and its hard to just keep it all together. However all the mics that I reviewed beyond this video follow the same tests so that everything is now standard across the board! Uh oh, I'm not sure what happened between Comica and the other reviewers. So far my test and review interactions with them have been smooth.

Hi, great video. I am shooting usually outdoors and I like hearing for example sound of ocean and other nature in my videos. Not the wind distraction or loud car sound distraction. I lost my old rode and thinking to get a new microphone. I am thinking about the wireless microphone. Not sure if I can achieve this with the wireless microphone. If yes, which one would you recommend? I thought maybe Rode Go? I like the idea, I could use it for various sounds recording too. But I don’t like , that when you are outdoor and you turn backwards to the camera, that the sound cuts. For that reason I don’t understand how come it didn’t cut when you did the indoor wall obstruction test. Which wireless microphone would you recommend me for outdoor shooting, as much talking . Or do you think no wireless ones would be more suitable for me? If yes, which one? Thank you. I bought the Shure MV88, but I am a bit disappointed. Thinking to return it. Thanks for any advice.
Hey hey Monika! When it comes to these 2.4ghz wireless systems. When you are outside with your back turned is when you will have the signal cut out. When you are indoors the signals can reflect all over the walls and make it back to the receiver just fine. 2.4ghz is essentially WIFI, so think about it that way in terms of why it works fine indoors even when there is your body and walls all in the way. As for ambient sounds. Wireless mics like these will always pick those up, it's the nature of the mics sound capturing profile. There are some nice sound isolation tools now that can take a good chunk of it away in editing like I show here: ruclips.net/video/xwbyHSPuMUU/видео.html That being said the best one currently on the market I would recommend is the RODE Wireless GO II. Its similar to the RODE I show here except it has a internal recording system. So it doesnt matter if you suddenly lose signal. You will have a backup recording you can use to fill in the gap. My suuuuper long review of that is here: ruclips.net/video/3TOldrv9iEE/видео.html Hope this helps!

@@TLDR_filmmaker You're very welcome! Seriously, your video came into my world JUST in time! I've been researching microphones for weeks and your video was THE BEST, comprehensive, video I was introduced to. You have a fan here! Keep up the good work and thanks for the great content!
Hey hey again theweeklyonline! Eddy Wilson is a funny dude, he'll get his time in the spotlight for sure lol. You're most welcome! Super long video but figured it would be the most best case to really hear the difference between these popular solutions. More to come I'm sure!

Hola el gonzu! ¡Muchas gracias por ver este video y comentar! ¡Me alegro mucho de que este video haya sido útil! Tengo más reseñas de micrófonos después de esta importante comparación. The Adventures of Eddy Wilson! (and I literally watched all the way to the end) I wonder what Jay Qwelin thinks about A-aron done messing up (one of my absolute favorite K&P sketches). Excellent work again Jason! Was looking forward to hanging out again at NAB this year but oh well. Stay safe out there my friend!
Hey hey Jose! Eddy Wilson appreciate your viewership! Jay Qwelin unfortunately was not available for this test, but A-a-ron?! He kept making noise when I was doing the noise floor test so I had to call him out lol! Hope you're doing well out there, you stay safe and healthy as well my friend!
Omg, one hour review to all this! Man, thank you for all your efforts! I am actually researching what kit should I buy for filming a yoga teacher and I'm actually afraid that Rode Wireless Go will drop the sound when the teacher turns her back to the camera.
Hey hey Framing Reality! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! You're most welcome! I'm happy to do it if it puts out meaningful information that people can use for their decisions! Keep in mind that the Line of Sight only becomes an issue if they are outside in a wide open area like the parking lot I use to test. When you are indoors I was moving through walls after walls and you could still hear me until I walked outside. So if you are just in a yoga studio, there would be no problems as your the RX and TX are in the same room. If you are doing outdoor yoga videos, then it does becomes a question how far away at the RX and TX from each other and are you in an super open area like a park. Hope this helps !Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

FANTASTIC video...side-by-side testing, breaking things into different categories by user need ('super budget', etc.). One of the best videos I've seen. This video has something for every level of viewer...newbie to expert. Congratulations. You got a sub from me just based on this video alone. Well done!!! Now I'm a complete newbie who's just looking to get into content creation as a hobby and I'm not sure how serious of hobby it will be for me so as a result I'm not looking to spend a lot of money until I know that I'm going to pursue it in a bigger way and I need something that will just work out of the box and includes everything. So I'm in the "Ultra low budget" category (Sokani Tiny). I would be using this wireless microphone for a Drone channel...outdoors, line of sight, limited distance, etc...nothing too exotic. With that said I did have some questions/concerns re: your recommendation (Sokani Tiny) and one concern about the category as a whole: 1) All of the ones you reviewed run on 2.4hz and that happens to be the same frequency that most wifi drones use...so I'm a little concerned about the potential for interference with the many drone's 2.4ghz signal...As an example many drone mfgs advise that you turn off your mobile phones wifi (put in airplane mode) when flying the drone to prevent interference with the phone's wifi. So while I realize that you probably won't be able to tell me whether it will interfere with my drones. I have seen many low end microphones that use UHF signals. Is that different then these 2.4ghz signals? Again I know nothing about wireless signals so this may be a really dumb question because it's an apple to oranges comparison. Generally speaking are UHF wireless microphones something that I'd want to stay away from if I want good quality sound? Are there any general considerations/downsides to using UHF wireless mics beyond maybe sound quality? (e.g., distance, breakup, interference, etc.) 2) While I like The Sokani Tiny price point it was listed as having a
Hey hey Jet! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking some question! Glad this video was helpful, lets see if I can help with some answers. 1) The difference between 2.4 and these UHF (500) is the frequency they are operating in. 2.4 = 2400mhz while the Sokani operates at 500mhz band. So they are pretty far away from each other in terms of interfering with each others signal. The only downside with any of these wireless systems is interference from a potentially stronger source. In terms of the 2.4ghz systems, they do frequency hopping usually so they are always looking for the cleanest signal. Where as with UHF systems, usually you gotta just pick a frequency channel and stick to it unless you hear inference and have the manually change it to something else. This usually doesn’t happen often, but it did, thats what you’d have to do. 2) The small battery life of the Sokani is indeed a problem for some, you can run them while attached to a small battery bank to increase the battery life if needed. Granted that is one extra thing you’d have to attach to your camera or pocket. But the option is there. 3) Fotowelt and Sokani both essentially branded this non-branded system. Boya and Movo I think brand a different set of non-branded systems, though I do not have much experience their systems. The alternative I would have you look at is the Comica Boom XU that I recently just reviewed. While its larger than the Sokani, its feature set and abilities at a $50 price bump may be enough for you to consider. The video review can be found here: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html 4) I do not have experience with really off brand $50 range, my guess is they’ll more or less work, but your milage may vary. I reviewed a fitness headset that was 50 bucks for a different video. It’ll work with cameras too and they actually sounded quite good. Though you’ll have to get creative with how you connect it to a camera and you’ll want to use a mono to dual mono cable as its only a “left channel’ signal. That video can be found here for a quick sample: ruclips.net/video/FJrKY10pivU/видео.html Hope this helps get you to a product that’ll work best for you! Thanks again for stopping by! @@TLDR_filmmaker Hey TLDR, thanks for the quick and thorough response. Super helpful. I checked out your video for the Comica BoomX-U and I think that is my mic. One question though, in your video at the end you said something like "if you are a beginning film maker but not a RUclipsr on a budget then this probably the mic for you". Since my stuff will be for RUclips I wanted to find out why you said "but not a RUclipsr". Just curious why you said that. Is there something I need to know?
You're most welcome! When I said "RUclipsr" I forgot to specify that I meant youtubers that are just inside their home studio and they don't go out and venture while filming. I guess I call them "Vlogger" even if they arnt technically vlogging, like in your case. I will make sure I distinguish that in the future. Thank you for the amazing test. This is the best review. Does 'Comica BoomX-D' is the best in terms of in & outdoor range test(especially line of sight) among the 2.4ghz wifi base products? Can you suggest EQ setting for the 'Comica BoomX-D' in order to make a similar sound to 'Rode wireless Go'? (ex: boost 1k and 2k area up).
Hey hey Victoria! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! In terms of the outdoor line of sight tests and performance, the Comica pretty much performed the same as the others (minus the Sennheiser XSW-D), I think we're pretty much at the limit of performance as far as what these small 2.4ghz systems can do. In terms of the EQ, I would suggesting look at the part where I matched them as I show the EQ curves I did to match the two (to my voice) you may need to use a computer to see it more clearly (you can zoom in on it too from the browser) But essentially there is a +3 db bump from 60-800hz and then a +3db down to -6db from 2khz-20khz (Check that EQ I posted to see how the curves move. Great video. My only problem is with some of these lav kits is that they are mostly all rechargeable which, while great now, can become a problem in the future when your lav starts to not keep as good of a charge. I personally looked into the majority of these kits a while back before I settled on purchasing the uwmic9 simply because I wanted good quality that will last me forever. A lot of these have great sound but I just can't have my lavs dying faster and faster while on set. Being able to replace batteries in 2 seconds really is a lifesaver. Hope this helps someone who's looking into buying their very first lav kit.
Hey hey again Loomoo5 Definitely, if your shoots usually last continuously past the max batteries life, having those AA batteries quick changes are what you should go for. Depending on usage patterns most of these build in lithium ions should last a good while before the start deteriorating, but I totally get that you don't want to change it on critical shoots. I'm kinda hoping to see a new wave of these small wireless mics that can utilize either a single standard AAA battery, or maybe the smaller rechargeable cylindrical batteries. Going that route would be a nice mix. We shall see as the 2nd gen wave of these types of mics come into market these next couple years!
Great review thanks for the effort making this video! it's great that you lots of audio hardware review, but post processing is also important especially how to process the audio ( eq it, remove noise ). Please make this kind of video, it would be really awesome.
Hey hey Chandra! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! You're most welcome! I"m so glad you enjoyed this video! @@TLDR_filmmaker Yes please! i mean not the super technical and complicated audio tutorial, the basic one would be cool. For example, at the moment i really not sure how do i set my level on my Sony A7III and my gain to my mic. Also i really have no idea how EQ works and which EQ to use in Audion to tune / correct the audio. I always got this high noise floor / hiss in my audio when i dropped it to premier. I notice your audio in every video really minimal hiss and i think you did a great job when you were taking and processing the audio!
Gotcha! As for the A7iii, I am currently filming on that camera for my youtube talking head. So essentially what you want to do is set your mic level in the Sony to +1. If your microphone has its own Gain, set it to the highest it will go and see what your meters in the Sony are telling you. If its too high and bumping up to the -6db marks on the sony (i think the color is yellow when it does). Then you simply lower your mics gain until you normal speech stays, on average, around the -12db mark. This is just the basic approach to try and get the bet sound out of a DSLR camera. Hope this helps for the time being!
@@TLDR_filmmaker This is very usefull, thank you for the tips! I will apply to my camera. We really need this very basic tips, haven't found it yet on the camera & gear channel around youtube. I will wait for your tutorial / guide for this camera audio content!
One factor not mentioned is that sealed batteries loose capacity over time. If you use the mic regularly it may only be a couple of years that the internal battery is useles. After a year if constant use, a 6 hour battery may only last 3 hours and a 3 hour battery may be cut to 2 hours. External batteries can be replaced. If you have high drain rechargeables like the eneloop pro, you'll have many hours of life and technically you'll have as much recording time as replacement batteries you bring.
Hey hey yadaroni! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! This is very true, I can't say I thought to mention this as it's pretty common knowledge now with the advent or cell phones. That being said it's also not as big of a deal (aside from the e-waste) as not many people will be using their wireless mic the same amount as their cell phones where it's on and charging 24/7. The chances of someone running into the battery lose will be many years down the line. However I do agree with you about the Eneloop as I have many. I sincerely wish these companies begin using either a single AA or dual AAA like the Zoom F2. We don't need super small TX packs, anything the size of those batteries is more than fine compared to the larger old ones. If they can do this, it will be a winner! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hello, Kindly, make a full comparison review between the new Blink Pro 500 and the new Comica Boom XD - both with the screens. Every other comparison on YT is between the Blink Pro 500 vs Rode GO. Thanks.
Hey hey ALO! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! All the tests that I performed in my Blink500 Pro is the same as the one used here: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html So that you can hear it in the same conditions. That being said, without question, choose the Blink 500 pro over the Boom XD. The Boom XD loses to the Blink500 in Battery Life and audio quality. The Audio from the Boom XD has a Default Low Cut Filter that you can't turn off. Also depending on your area, the Boom XD doesn't seem to handle RF interference as well. For me it was fine, but I have heard mixed reports. Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Dr. Sean Reyes! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! While I don't have a Tascam DR10L to compare, the reviews I have seen rate it pretty well. The main advantage of that system is that it is a small recorder that does not require wireless transmission so you never have to worry about it not capturing audio. I believe it also has a built in safety track recording as well, which is great. The only thing is you have to sync up the audio files later while editing, while these wireless systems do not when they are going directly into the camera. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
AWESOME! I had an idea for a video. With everyone on lockdown, what would be a great kit for video conferencing? Not for everyone in the conference, just making yourself look and sound awesome. I know many people don't know even where to start with video or audio. Might be a good video.
Hey hey again S Singh! I actually made that video already...well, a budget way how to do it. Unfortunately everyone is at the mercy of their webcam and what kind of bitrate the videoconferencing software wants to shoot your video out. So even if you have a killer live stream setup, ZOOM may still make your video look like 480p :/
@@TLDR_filmmaker There are some new players in the game. Facebook and Google are releasing direct competitors to ZOOM (all free). Some other channels are really pumped due to it being free and better video quality. I have been trying to setup remote kits for my sales teams (spread all over the world) to do things like podcasts, but man it's a pain. On a side note, I'll check out the video. Weird. I usually check out all your videos. I guess I missed one.
Hi, thanks for making such a good video. I am looking for some advice. I am looking 8-10 wireless wireless lavalier mics, for indoor stage drama performance, for my church. So I need the 8-10 mics working on the actors at the same time with a mixer. So should I go with 2.4ghz or UHF? I am also on a limited budget too. Thanks.
Hey hey cacolsay! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! You will definitely need to go the UHF route. With that being said, and this is just my opinion, non of these budget UHF systems I've reviewed are going to be the right solution for your situation. You will need to go the traditional UHF route for the sound booth with those larger RX boxes. The reason you need these systems is because they have a much better frequency isolation as you are operating in a limited mhz range. These cheaper UHF arn't as powerful in their isolation so you could get signals interfering with each other. Also traditional stage UHF systems, the TX packs will use AA batteries which would be much easier to manage than to charge all the TX's. Also if one of the TX's built in batt goes out, you will be down one pack. Again this is just my opinion, I have not personally tested 8-10 budget units within a staged building... though that does post to be an interesting video to make. I wonder if I can get someone onboard to help sponsor that many units for this video... hmm Anyways I hope this helps somewhat! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you for the reply (and the other reply for the Godox MoveLink too). I also emailed Comica company for a similar question on how many BoomX-U (the UHF version) can be working together without issue. They said 48 because the units have 48 channels. I do think they are overstating. If I use both UHF and 2.4ghz products at the same time, such as using 4 UHF and 4 2.4ghz total of 8, would this be the solution? I will be very interested and looking forward for you to make such a video. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for your great effort to make that comparison. I have the picomic for couple of months now, and I can say for sure the last firmware changed audio quality to match with other more expensive devices. In the chance log they wrote they added the lower frequencies. I'm curious to know why they prevented it from the beginning. Also the limiter is working better now but still I get clipping sometimes. The clipping sounds different than the older firmware. I only wish the range was better outdoors and the receiver was smaller and than we had a perfect sound solution. But it's still one of my favorite gear pieces. A lot of talents very pleased and impressed with it when they don't have to wire themselves... :)
Hey hey - כוכבי אור - מאירים נקודות טובות Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm so glad you were able to get a Picomic set! I think initially with the earlier firmware, they were still developing the overall sound and seeing how people were using it. The limiter is aggressive at times, but it doesn't sound as clippy as before. I hope in future firmware updates that they create different types of limiter responses so that we can choose. But I wouldn't put it past the team, if they all the sudden give you straight up Pro features where we can begin adjusting EQ, Compression, and Limiter levels, now how about THAT for a extremely versatile wireless clip on mic with 20 freaking hours of battery. They really do have a gem on their hands, I hope they get more and more funding to expand their operations and team, so that they aren't sold our months at a time. The clients LOVE when I introduce the picomic, they've never had such a great experience not needed to be wired up. This is why I constantly say that the Picomic is the best for corporate shoots. The client being happy with you is more important that the subtle difference in sound that they cannot even hear. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
As a longtime sound engineer, I can tell you that the most important parameter is the noise floor. If the noise floor in a system is low, nearly anything else can be fixed in post. It's easy to EQ and compress a clean audio track to sound pretty much any way you want it to... if the system is noisy, however, no amount of post processing can fix it.... garbage in, garbage out. I have the Comica system and it works great. I've used full-on pro systems on professional shoots and still had to process the audio later. To be honest, I would EQ the RODE Go audio from this test as well.
Hey hey again Gary! You're totally right about the noise floor garbage in and garbage out. Glad to hear the comica system has been working great for your needs! Now I wonder, with the prosumer recorders now offering 32bit float recordings. What are the abilities of a wireless system using 32bit float computation on the fly to artificially lower the noise floor somehow during the talking and silent parts?
@@TLDR_filmmaker Much like video, prosumer audio systems have been getting better and better (and closer to pro systems.) I'm a little gun-shy about digital noise reduction, though. I've always found that sort of artificial "noise-gate" kind of sound can seem robotic if you don't have any music bed underneath the dialogue. You end up with room sound during the talking but none in between. I've used digital gating in a pinch when nothing else works and you're shooting run & gun on a conference floor and the sound just is what it is, but that's when it helps to have recorded some room by itself so you can add it back into the mix in some form and make everything sound a bit more natural again after it's processed. I find for the bulk of what I do for personal stuff, the Comica works great. On pro shoots, we try to lav AND boom where we can for a safety and so we can mixdown later.
Hey hey Александр Иванов! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Each of these systems have their own difference in millisecond delay, they are all very minimal so you won't notice. I don't know how well they would perform for your needs as a musician, I would probably suggest to use more traditional microphones for guitar and voice, however if I really had to choose. I would suggest the Sennheiser XSW system because they have different types of Transmitters meant for a guitar 1/4 or voice microphone. But if you are wanting a built in microphone solution, I would choose the RODE GO. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Yassine! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Aw man! Well, the only thing I can say is 1) Whats your available surplus budget, not going into debt buying one of these 2) Which one solves your main problem best 3) Does that one solve any of your other smaller problems? These are just three of the 5 steps I always go through to determine what I should invest in. I actually detail this entire process in this video here: ruclips.net/video/3zO9axytfK8/видео.html Hopefully that helps you get an idea of which one might be best for you! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Raymond! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So happy to hear this video was helpful! Since this massive comparison, some new comers in the game are here to dethrone a couple of the spots. My reviews are here and what they replace. Feidu FM40 (500mhz) replaces the Sokani: ruclips.net/video/Hf6eF9LDr0E/видео.html Blink 500 PRO replaces regular Blink500, its also the best performing budget 2.4ghz: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html Best Performing UHF (500mhz) is now the Comica BoomX-U: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html And of course now the RODE GO II is out and in for testing, so I am currently working on that one. Hope this further helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
AMAZING review sir. Hats off for sure. I was going into this wanting the Sarasonic wireless mic because currently I can get 2 receivers instead of just one with buying the Rode. I felt I was essentially getting more bang for my buck with getting 2. Since they aren’t very far in quality I’m still leaning towards it. I’m mainly going for interviews and filmmaking. Would the Comica be a better choice?
Hey hey Corey! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad you enjoyed this video! The Comica may be the better choice in terms of you are able to split the interview track between LEFT and RIGHT audio channel so that you can edit them later. The Blink500 does not do this. (Check the pinned comments FAQ section as I dive into it deeper there). However I do have to say that I am currently test two more 2TX to 1RX systems. So if you're not in a hurry, I'd recommend waiting till I finish off these reviews so you can see which is the best for your needs! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hi TLDR Filmmaker, Thumbs up for the review. But i need to know what is your final suggestion for Dual-Channel Wireless Mic system for indoor interviews..
Hey hey shashitha! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Out of this crop of wireless systems, the Comica BoomXD is the one I would go for if you are specifically looking for a dual channel system that has one receiver instead of two. However there are newer models that I am currently testing and reviewing that I feel will be better options for dual channel systems. If you're not in a hurry, I would wait to see if these newer models would fit you better, but if you are in a hurry, the Comica Boom XD is the best one available right now for indoor (only) interviews. The Saramonic Uwmic9 is next in line if you have the budget and don't mine the traditional bulkier setup as well as the benefit of using AA batteries so you don't have to wait to recharge a system or have a USB battery bank attached to someone. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey adosq! Thank you so much for checking out this video and the kind words! You're most welcome! I will continue to do my best with my content! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker You have super intros. I think from the test that the Blink 500 are best for me. (Pico's are best, but expensive and not available in my country).
Hey! Great review! You said you wouldn’t recommend the dual system saramonic blink 500, like the B2, but you never said why? Almost decided to get the B2 pack, and then you dropped this😂
Hey hey Alexander! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Ah crap I didn't! I thought I did! So the reason I wouldn't recommend the Blink500 dual system is because you do not have the option to split the channels to a Stereo signal, it is mixed into a Mono signal no matter what. So if you wanted to mute the person, in post, thats not talking, you won't be able to because it's already mixed together. The Comica splits the two TX's so when you go into post you can post process them independently before finish it up by converting the stereo track into a "dual mono" track. Hope this made sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Again great video!!! Amazing how good is the Saramonic 500Mhz version with distance... The best is th have a small 2,4Ghz system for indoor but for outdoor something bigger is just needed
Hey hey again Bánáti! Thanks for checking out this other video and commenting! There is a outdoor distance test of the Saramonic Uwmic9 500hz in the video, it's max distance I would use it at is between 150-200 feet. Generally speaking, when it comes to investing in equipment you have to determine what kind of video work do you do 90% of the time, depending on that answer and knowing what distance you usually operate from the speaker you are using the microphone on, you can get an idea of which system will work best for you. For the most part not many filmmakers that I work with, Narrative films, will be filming their actor past 50ft away (indoors or outdoors) so for me I invested in the small RODE GO last year knowing I probably won't have too many problems. 500mhz UHF systems I would use if I was primarily a broadcast videographer where the person speaking will be in many different areas constantly. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I'll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Hi Thanks for the detailed answer. Yeah I 90% of the time shoot indoors so it will be the Wireless Go ooor this new Comica. Unfortunatelly it is not yet available in my country and I would probably buy it locally because of guarantee... Thanks for the marvelous videos!!!
Awesome review. Which one do you recommend for dancers (picomic is not in stocks so other pls)? We need record dance classes so one room people dancing. I am worry from these 2.4GHz microphones about signal when people turn body.
Hey hey again adosq! The 2.4ghz mics where when someone turns their body is only really apparent when you're outdoors. In my indoor test I clearly was facing all sorts of directions with walls in the way and you can still hear me. So I wouldn't really worry about the dance classes. In terms of which mic would I recommend, it depends on your preference for when you are teaching. I actually made a setup video helping fitness instructors with audio and live online classes, not sure if this is what you're looking for but hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/FJrKY10pivU/видео.html
Thank you for your super detailed reviews, nothing short of awesomeness! Suggestion: Would you like to make a review on the Sabinetek Mike+ and the Sabinetek Audio Wow soundcard? There are tons of reviews on the Sabinetek Mike+ but since you have a certain great way of doing this it would give a better way of comparison between the systems. Keep up the great work! Cheers!
Hey hey Falk4J! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm glad you enjoyed this review! I will continue to do my best with my reviews and content! As for Sabinetek, they have reached out to me before but after taking a look at how their system works overall to get the best out of it, it seems a lot of their products are propriety app based. While they can work as just a bluetooth mic, it doesn't seem to hold the benefits as in their app. Because of my style of work, narrative productions and youtube, I did talk to them about my thoughts, and then ultimately never heard back from them about it. I guess I'll continue to keep them on my radar to see if they start making mics that can be used in more production type settings, otherwise for youtubers and vloggers (via smartphone) that would like to stay within their app for everything, it does seem like a nice mic. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Hi, thank you for your detailed response! Yes, it's a bit annoying that much of Sabinetek is attached to their app. What really seems to work well is their noise reduction technology. And what excites me also is that they have on the fly transcription to create subs in various languages. Especially this part hardly anyone is mentioning in their reviews let testing it. Yet I think that's a stand-out feature in comparison to other wireless mike systems if it works as it's supposed to. It means to widen your range as a vlogger into other language realms for people who e.g. don't know English. All the best, God bless you, Frank
Thank you for all this information! The huge problem I’m having with my Sokani is that the sound keeps dropping out. Ps I’m a yoga teacher, filming classes for RUclips etc. Any tips on how to stop it dropping out? Thank you in advance x
Hey hey Hannah! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Hmm, the only thing I can think of is to try different channels on the Sokani to see which channel doesn't drop signal as much. Unfortunately the Sokani is super cheap so it doesn't come with a frequency scanner to let you know which channel is the cleanest. If trying different channels doesn't work, then it could be a problem with the unit itself. Those are my two best guesses, hope it helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
What to take Comica BoomX-D D2 or Saramonic Blink500 B2. I don't know English, so I can't fully understand the review. So I want to know your advice on what to buy
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks. Bought Comica Boom XD. Writes worse than a buttonhole inserted in the phone, and a lot of noise. I will learn to correct these shortcomings.
great video! I was wondering if you could answer a question? I have a Rode wireless go system and lost the Mic, Is the receiver pretty much worthless? Can you buy just a mic for it? thanks so much
Hey hey Wade! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! As far as I know RODE does not sell the transmitter only. However if you contact them maybe they can send you out a transmitter at a price they determine. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hi TLDR, Really appreciate all your great reviews. Kinda wonder if there are any differences in the signal transferring quality. For example, if I plug the Videomic NTG on all of the transmitter, will there be the difference in sound quality from the transmitter? Or internal amplification quality in this regard ...
Hey hey Jirapat! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! You're most welcome! That is definitely a good question and something I should consider for the next updated round of tests in the future. For the most part you can use the Lav mic tests to see how each system colors the sound based on their mic pre amps. The Comica boom still lacked in Bass frequencies even when using other lavs. The difference when using something like the NTG will be that the NTG has its own power source where as all the lavs I used require the wireless system to provide it power. So for the most part you should be able to get some very clean signals going into the TX, and the quality of the overall sound will dependent on the wireless pre-amp (again reference the 3rd party lav tests to see what each one does) Hope this makes sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Just One Truth! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad this video gave you an idea of whats out there (much more since I released this video that I've reviewed haha). I generally tell people, if what you're working with produces the results you need, then don't bother upgrading as theres probably other things you should upgrade instead. So I say keep using it unless the Movo presents a problem with your workflow. I detail this in my "Think Critically series" here: ruclips.net/video/3zO9axytfK8/видео.html Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker My pleasure. My own stuff is very small scale, but I've learned so much from these types of channels. I'm also a fan of the green background.
The comparison I was looking for. Thank you so much. It's a great useful video. Perhaps next time, you will have the opportunity to test Deity Wireless systems, and why not their new one: Deity BP-TRX.
Hey hey again Ahmed! You're most welcome! Glad this video was helpful! It would definitely be nice to add Deity's wireless systems into the line up, I hope to get a library up of the tests I've done so people can compare new and old systems quickly and easily.
at 24:50 you mentioned you'd give details on why you don't recommend the Blink 500 dual-channel setup... but I can't find those details later in the video. Did I miss them?
Hey hey jPup! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! You didn't miss them, I was an idiot and forgot to talk about it in the video. Check the pinned comment up top, I have a FAQ section at the bottom where I explain about the Blink 500 dual setup and why I don't recommend it. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@TLDR Filmaker Great comparison! Why was it you didn't recommend the blink 500 for the stereo 2 mic set up? Is it because It won't do stereo, just the 2 blended? If so that is disappointing. I would love the Comica Boom stereo setup but truthfully did not like there sound at all. The Blinks would have been good enough though I preferred the Rode. But 2 Rodes is too much money. Any other mics like this with better sound quality you might recommend that have the 2 mic stereo feature of the Comica Boom but sound better? Just found the SYNCO-G1(A2) has the feature but nothing much out there on it. Have you ever tried or heard of it?
Hey hey Michael! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Correct, the original Blink500 does not split the signal for people who need it, however I recently reviewed their new and MAJORLY improved Blink500 Pro version and they've fixed everything. My review here: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html This is probably going to fit the bill for you if you are looking for a 2.4ghz system, if you prefer a UHF 500mhz system, my recommendation is the BoomXU: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks so much for letting me know! Awesome reviews, keep up the good work! I unfortunately, or maybe fortunately (we'll see) pulled the trigger on the SYNCO-G1(A2) system. Seems like a new thing so no good comparisons or reviews like yours. But From what little I heard of it comparing it to your awesome video comparison and some sample videos from new owners of the SYNCO-G1(A2) the sound SEEMED much better than the Boom but could also split to stereo which I need. The extra bonus is the price being half that of the new Blink500 pro, though if I had known about this before I would have gone for the pro because sound quality is very important to me. I will keep my fingers crossed and let you know how it works out if you haven't already tried it by then. Thanks for all your work reviewing all this stuff, very helpful.
@TLDR Filmmaker So I just received the SYNCO-G1(A2) and I think its worth adding them to your short list. They sound really good and so far have worked flawlessly for me at a fraction of the cost of others here. I am a musician and audio producer so I am pretty picky with sound quality while money is tight lol. Though not perfect I found the sound very good for what it is and definitely workable in post with some eq to get what I need out of them. I am using one on my guitar the other on my voice to do musical vlogs and live streaming. So far they have exceeded my expectations. And despite not choosing any you tested here your tests really helped me understand what I needed and helped me narrow down my options so thank you.
Hey hey Birolerkan! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Awesome! I'm so glad the BoomXD is working great for your needs! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Thank you very much for such a detailed comparision, i have ordered Boomx D2 and i will mostly use for vlogging with my GoPro Hero 8 with Gopro 3.5mm Mic Adapter. Mostly i am the one talking but sometimes my wife and daughter also speak, so what settings should i use when i am alone vlogging outdoor for less background noise? and when me and my family is vlogging together ? Are the included lav mics good enough or i should invest in better pair of lav mic ? And lastly how i catch best audio of strangers met spontaneously on the road side or at random shops while doing my usual travel vlogging. Thanks in Advance !!
For my travel vlogs i have planned to use both transmitters turned on all time together, one i will put on myself and the other one mounted on my Gopro, so while talking to someone randomly i will turn my camera towards the speaker or simply pull the transmitter mounted on the Gopro and point it towards the speaker. For this should i use Mono or Stereo setting ? and will it work ?
Hey hey 3KS Family! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I'm not entirely sure if this will work because most action cameras will have a Dual Mono Mic port, meaning that while it is taking in sound and will show up as a stereo "left and right" audio file, it actually just duplicates the audio to the Left and Right. What this means is, even if you do have the Stereo Split on the BoomXD, its not going to give you the flexibility of editing someone voice in post. Because you will have it on the whole time, that 2nd mic is active the whole time, so your video recording will hear everything as you move the go-pro around. Now there is a way to combat this so that you don't always get the other transmitters sounds when you don't want to. Each transmitter can be muted with the power button. So when you do want the 2nd transmitter to pick up, just unmute it. However this does mean you gotta be aware of when you're muted and not. Sometimes in the heat of the moment you may forget. Now I could be wrong about your GoPro and maybe it does record a true stereo signal through the mic port. If it does, then you'll want set the Comica Boom into Stereo for the reasons I stated above. This gives you most editing flexibility that I cover very very basically here on how to work with a stereo 2ch audio file: ruclips.net/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/видео.html As for a different lav, the included lavs are good enough. I recently got confirmation that the Boom XD incorporates a low cut filter by default that can't be changed. This is why the sound does not sound as full as the others and why you need to EQ it later to get a fuller sound. It didn't matter which 3rd party lavs I used in these tests, the Comica alway lacked a Bass Frequency response. So I would just stick with the included lavs. Hope this makes sense and helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you so much Sir for the detailed reply, much appreciated, Yes i saw your video and your 2 channel stereo audio video helped me make a decision about Comica Boomx D2, i thought i could leave the transmitter on my daughter on all time on stereo setting and later cut out the unwanted parts in post, thats also a good idea to keep one transmitter muted but in this case it will always show on the video whenever i will reach out to unmute, i will try all options and definately share with you my exoeriences.
You're most welcome! I forgot one thing, if you do decide to go this route and even if you are in stereo mode you realized that the GoPro sounds like only one mic is picking up. It could be that the Mic jack is a "mono" jack and the camera is then later creating a dual mono audio. If this is the case then you will need to set your Comica to "mono" to get both transmitters into the video file mix. Hmm... so if one is going to be on your go-pro and thats the one you want to keep muted until you need it. Assuming the gopro is on a selfie stick of sorts, what if you had an elastic band on your wrist and mounted the second transmitter there? It would be easy to tap the mute button right there instead of reaching at the camera. When you want to use it you can then switch hands on the selfie stick and have your hand close to your mouth and talk into it that way. If its a longer conversation then unclip it from the band and place it where you may need it. Not sure if this would work for you necessarily, but an idea to expand on.
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you Sir for another great idea, i guess you have now another topic to make a video, I saw Mr. Heng's video where he said on action camera it doesnt split audio into 2 channels. I have an extra tiny tripod of my Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal, At first i will try to get closer to the Subject(speaker) to pick the audio from the transmitter attached to my collar, otherwise i will keep the muted transmitter mounted on this tiny tripod kept in my pocket always, and quickly take out, unmute and turn towards speaker to get better audio plus it will look professional also.
excellent, excellent review, like others the conclusion at the top wins for me but dude - details were off the chart. Just one suggestion maybe you could add a section next time on the monitoring capabilities for each system and how that worked. Also maybe do a Gimbal/wireless combo set up since most semi-serious iphonography guys are doing this set-up. All in all 9.5 outa 10 bro - you're killing it!!!!
Hey hey Jody Poe! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad you enjoyed it! Hmm, could you elaborate what you'd want to see in a monitoring section? Most of these are pretty straight forward in terms of monitoring capability. As for iphonography, I'm unfortunately not in that arena as all my gear is for independent film sets, so a lot of my tests are geared towards that area, but perhaps in the future I'll make a video on that topic and keep it as universal as possible so that it doesn't matter what type of wireless audio system you have, you have a dedicated area that keeps things balanced and out of the way. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Is the Saramonic Uwmic9 a good choice for documentary filmmaking? I want to get something that can receive dual input in a single receiver so post-production is a little bit simpler and faster, the deity and comica boom XD is out of the question for me because they don't allow swap-able batteries, so I question the longevity, and it might be an issue with long interviews. I love your channel btw
Hey hey Julius! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! At this point in time with the Saramonic Uwmic9 being the only 2TX 1RX system that I've tested, its the only thing I can recommend at this point. The quick swap of AA batteries for you would be the selling feature. Now there apparently is a newer version out there of this system as it now includes a Mic Sensitivity setting on the TX (Mine does not have this). So I don't know if the audio sound will be similar to my tests here where there is a lot of Bass frequency. I think there are some other 2TX 1RX systems out there that uses AA batteries that you may want to check on reviews to see if the audio fits your liking better for less post processing. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Or you go with the Comica Boom and have a couple of small USB powerbanks that you can use as backup power. Just tape it together with the transmitter :D
Great comparison. The quick overview at the beginning is very helpful as well. Where would you say the Røde Wireless Filmmaker kit would sit in this comparison?
Hey hey Glacé! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! The RØDElink Filmmaker kit would sit closer to the XSW-D and the Sennheiser AVX system as it more closely resembles their price point as well as power. While I'l have not played with one yet, I believe the overall range may be better with a stronger signal. The RØDElink also operates off of AA batteries making it nice and easy to switch out if needed be on a film shoot. The only thing about it is it's bulky compared to these small form wireless mics. Not necessarily a bad thing depending on what type of videos you film. If you're always in decent range of the person you're filming and not running an 8 hour day constantly, then these little systems may be the better option while the RØDElink would be a more industry option. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hi! Was about to purchase a saramonic 500 then I stumbled on to your video. I’m looking for something that can record 3 people that is not so cumbersome for a kid. Planning to use it for snowboarding, bike riding and motorcycle riding. Right now using my phone, gopro and insta360 as a camera, not using a recorder right now
Hey hey Chicharonbuyakyak! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This really is going to depend on how you'd prefer to use the system. The Picomic is probably the easiest but its hard to come by as stock is always immediately sold out. The RODE GO and Comica BoomXD are the next bet for something thats smaller than the Blink500 to clip on when you need to, but the prefered method would probably be to wire up with a lav and toss the TX into a coat pocket or something like that. The last bit is you want to record 3 people at the same time. While that does exist it is not the best idea to have three separate mics going into one receiver. Mainly because you have no control over the 3rd mic thats introduced into the chain. So imagine the 3rd mic is next to a motorcycle while the other two or something that isn't hearing it as much, the motorcycle is going to be roaring in your video and theres no way for you to ax out that sound from the other two talking. I'm not entirely sure there is a "right" solution for your needs based on the cameras you have. The BoomXD is close with its ability to do a split stereo recording, but all your cameras I don't think will be able to take advantage of that except for maybe the GoPro as some of them do record in a true stereo signal. The rest just duplicate it across the left and right channel. This gives you more options to edit your sound in editing show noise come from someone else mic that you don't want. Now if this not at all a concern to you, then I'd still say the RODE and Comica BoomXD would be the better bet because of how small they are so that you can clip or use a wired lav should you choose. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

*[FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS]*
*Q:* Why don't you recommend the Blink500 for Dual Audio?

You can check out that review here to see if it could work for your needs! ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html

Enjoyed. I use the Hollyland mics. I avoided buying Rode because I don't want my viewers to be distracted by their large branding.
Hey hey Atamaii!

I haven't tried the newer Hollyland Mics, but they do seem quite good!

55 minutes of wireless lav reviews!? Damn, TL;DR, you've outdone yourself this time! ;)

Podcast!

If you're on the phone app, double tap on the left or right side of the video frame and it'll do the same (The more you tap the more it'll skip instead of double tapping a bunch of times)
Hope this helps and I'll continue to do my best with my reviews and content!

Before watching the video, Imma say the comica. 2 transmitters 1 receiver and able to seperate the audio channels, and the low price (around rode wireless go) and decent sound quality
Ah, you're reviewing the comica with just a single transmitter, not the "Comica Audio BoomX-D D2"
Can you connect the Comica to a GoPro or an Akaso V50 Elite?
@@mahmudchowdhury7557 which gopro? For gopro 8, with the gopro 3.5mm audio unit you can attach the comica
Hi TLDR,
Nice review.

It's good enough, I think I understand how it works and will need to look into it myself!
Amazing testing there! Thank you so very much!

Here's what I mean by working with a dual audio setup in post: ruclips.net/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/видео.html
However the main thing you want to make sure is that your Sony Point and Shoot camera has a true stereo mic jack.
You're most welcome! So glad I could help! I was thinking about the Sony ZV1 myself, probably later down the road for quick content. Have fun you two!

Blink500 Pro: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html

I'll have to do a "favorite picks" review at some point as I have reviewed so many and its hard to just keep it all together.

There are some nice sound isolation tools now that can take a good chunk of it away in editing like I show here: ruclips.net/video/xwbyHSPuMUU/видео.html
That being said the best one currently on the market I would recommend is the RODE Wireless GO II. Its similar to the RODE I show here except it has a internal recording system. So it doesnt matter if you suddenly lose signal. You will have a backup recording you can use to fill in the gap. My suuuuper long review of that is here: ruclips.net/video/3TOldrv9iEE/видео.html
Hope this helps!

With that said I did have some questions/concerns re: your recommendation (Sokani Tiny) and one concern about the category as a whole:
1) All of the ones you reviewed run on 2.4hz and that happens to be the same frequency that most wifi drones use...so I'm a little concerned about the potential for interference with the many drone's 2.4ghz signal...As an example many drone mfgs advise that you turn off your mobile phones wifi (put in airplane mode) when flying the drone to prevent interference with the phone's wifi. (e.g., distance, breakup, interference, etc.)
2) While I like The Sokani Tiny price point it was listed as having a
Hey hey Jet!
The video review can be found here: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html
4) I do not have experience with really off brand $50 range, my guess is they’ll more or less work, but your milage may vary. I reviewed a fitness headset that was 50 bucks for a different video. It’ll work with cameras too and they actually sounded quite good. Though you’ll have to get creative with how you connect it to a camera and you’ll want to use a mono to dual mono cable as its only a “left channel’ signal. That video can be found here for a quick sample: ruclips.net/video/FJrKY10pivU/видео.html
Hope this helps get you to a product that’ll work best for you!

@@TLDR_filmmaker PS...I forgot to ask...do you ever do live streams? I'd definitely tune it!
I haven't done live streams yet, but it is something I plan to do once I figure out what kind of show will be helpful and entertaining.
@@TLDR_filmmaker Ok ..thanks. So you were saying that Comica BoomX-U is particularly well suited for film makers needs (e.g., range) versus it missing some key features required by a "RUclipsr".

In terms of the EQ, I would suggesting look at the part where I matched them as I show the EQ curves I did to match the two (to my voice) you may need to use a computer to see it more clearly (you can zoom in on it too from the browser)
But essentially there is a +3 db bump from 60-800hz and then a +3db down to -6db from 2khz-20khz (Check that EQ I posted to see how the curves move.

Hey hey again Loomoo5
Definitely, if your shoots usually last continuously past the max batteries life, having those AA batteries quick changes are what you should go for.
Thanks for this really in-depth review! Can you please elaborate on the point that at this price point we should not buy the dual TX models? Thank you
Hey hey Long Luong!

Hello,
Kindly, make a full comparison review between the new Blink Pro 500 and the new Comica Boom XD - both with the screens.

Thanks for the video! How does the Tascam DR10L compare with these mics?
Hey hey Dr.

I wonder if I can get someone onboard to help sponsor that many units for this video... hmm
Anyways I hope this helps somewhat!
Thanks.
So bomb! Best reviews I’ve ever seen!
Hey hey - כוכבי אור - מאירים נקודות טובות
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
How many milliseconds is the delay sound? Is it comfortable to sing, play the guitar, listening to yourself through the speaker system?
Hey hey Александр Иванов!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
Each of these systems have their own difference in millisecond delay, they are all very minimal so you won't notice. I don't know how well they would perform for your needs as a musician, I would probably suggest to use more traditional microphones for guitar and voice, however if I really had to choose. I would suggest the Sennheiser XSW system because they have different types of Transmitters meant for a guitar 1/4 or voice microphone. But if you are wanting a built in microphone solution, I would choose the RODE GO.

Aw man! Well, the only thing I can say is
1) Whats your available surplus budget, not going into debt buying one of these
2) Which one solves your main problem best
3) Does that one solve any of your other smaller problems?
These are just three of the 5 steps I always go through to determine what I should invest in. I actually detail this entire process in this video here: ruclips.net/video/3zO9axytfK8/видео.html

So happy to hear this video was helpful! Since this massive comparison, some new comers in the game are here to dethrone a couple of the spots. My reviews are here and what they replace.
Feidu FM40 (500mhz) replaces the Sokani: ruclips.net/video/Hf6eF9LDr0E/видео.html
Blink 500 PRO replaces regular Blink500, its also the best performing budget 2.4ghz: ruclips.net/video/aAKe3kTUv4o/видео.html
Best Performing UHF (500mhz) is now the Comica BoomX-U: ruclips.net/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/видео.html

Hi
TLDR Filmmaker,
Thumbs up for the review.

Almost decided to get the B2 pack, and then you dropped this😂
Yeah.. Same here man 😅😅 can we have some clarity please? 🙏🏻

You're most welcome!

What to take Comica BoomX-D D2 or Saramonic Blink500 B2. I don't know English, so I can't fully understand the review. So I want to know your advice on what to buy
Comica Boom XD =
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks. Bought Comica Boom XD. Writes worse than a buttonhole inserted in the phone, and a lot of noise. I will learn to correct these shortcomings.
great video! I was wondering if you could answer a question? I have a Rode wireless go system and lost the Mic, Is the receiver pretty much worthless? Can you buy just a mic for it? thanks so much

As far as I know RODE does not sell the transmitter only. However if you contact them maybe they can send you out a transmitter at a price they determine.

Hi TLDR,
Really appreciate all your great reviews.
So for the most part you should be able to get some very clean signals going into the TX, and the quality of the overall sound will dependent on the wireless pre-amp (again reference the 3rd party lav tests to see what each one does)
Hope this makes sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Great options. I didn't even know about most of them. I use a Movo WMX-1 and have always had great results.

I detail this in my "Think Critically series" here: ruclips.net/video/3zO9axytfK8/видео.html

This gives you most editing flexibility that I cover very very basically here on how to work with a stereo 2ch audio file: ruclips.net/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/видео.html
As for a different lav, the included lavs are good enough.

Yes i saw your video and your 2 channel stereo audio video helped me make a decision about Comica Boomx D2, i thought i could leave the transmitter on my daughter on all time on stereo setting and later cut out the unwanted parts in post, thats also a good idea to keep one transmitter muted but in this case it will always show on the video whenever i will reach out to unmute,
i will try all options and definately share with you my exoeriences.
