I loved this tutorial!! Mine turned out very baggy and oversized but its most likely my yarn weight and i prefer my sweaters that way anyway! If you do any other tutorials with this type of stitch in a sweater i would love to see how you weave in your ends i always struggle with that the most 😅
I love this! I might use a light cotton yarn to make a nice and light baggy top for summer. Thank you for the in depth explanation so we can all crochet along! New sub, im definitely going to binge watch everything else you've done.
TYSM for the stitch fiddle recommendation cause I made a small modification and realized the star wouldn't fit, so off of your graph it was super easy to create a different sized star ❤️
Yes stitch fiddle is awesome! If you got the time you should play around and try designing other graphs for other projects it helps spice up your crochet collection
I have a production for my dance competition and I have to make my own costume so I’m doing a black mesh long sleeve, this is the first tutorial where someone made full length and also is a rut I’m not gunna use the star I was mostly doing it for the sleeves and body but I will definitely make one with the star thank you

bro. THANK YOU!!!!!! i have been trying to work on this for 2 days and i keep restarting and am so confused with the numbers but wanna make it so bad and written patterns help me so much. you are a real one for this i hope your pillow is always cold on both sides🫶🏻
Really nice tutorial I did this with my friend (she’s pretty new to crocheting I’d say beginner ish) she kinda had a hard time understanding while switching colors bc she didn’t know if she should’ve chained and then crocheted into the same sticky or the next one or if she should’ve skipped the space after changing this prob sounds weird, anyway great job girlie
Hi! So I was wondering if you could customize it to make it smaller? I really wanna make it but I feel like it’ll be to big. Love your work and the top!
Hii, i keep doing the 96 chains and i found that it end up with 32 holes, but also that the half of 32 is 16, the count you used for guiding yourself for the middle of the star, so i don't really know if with only 32 holes it would work :c
exactly I had to start over twice because I realized it was 32 because 96 divided by 3 (it takes 3 chains per loop) is 32 so she must have meanr to say 99?? But with 32 holes the middle measurement is the same so I really don't know either and I'm still not finished with it
I believe she says 16 on each side of the center point. 16+16+center=33 I thought her approach to the starting chain was interesting. She asks you to chain 96, and then chain 5 more. This says to me that the multiple is 3+5. 96/3=32+5 chains for the first loop. 101 total chains for 33 holes. Very well done @ramenjeantv
@@kdksmom3:59 watch this. She doesn't put the marker in a square, but between 2 squares. I also paused and counted them. She has 32 there and probably just accidentally said it wrong
hi !! so, i followed along with every single step but as soon as i try to make the star for the 4th row i miss a stitch somewhere but i have no clue where ?? idk if it makes sense but i end up with 32 boxes instead of 33. i zoomed in on the different rows (4 & 5) and it looks identical to the one in the video so i have no clue where i’ve dropped a stitch !! any help is welcome, i really want to finish this 😭
Omg i love this!! Question also. if i wanted a bit more oversize/bigger could i make the back panel longer..? since i didn't realize the front panel was small(for me).
You could probably add 5 to each side, so instead of 33 you could do 43 ! If that isn’t enough you can add as many as u need (just make sure it’s an odd number of stitches)
I haven't crochet before and I will learn how to do the first two things first, but I was wondering about how long it took you to complete it? I wanna make sure I have time to finish it at the same time as doing school work before I start another project lol
hey i have a question: I've chained 96, but end up with 31 holes. Can i continue with 31 holes, and if so do i have to adjust the star pattern at all? also thank you so much for this video, bless
hi sorry for the late response. i continued in with it and it turned out fine. think of the star as a star in a box, if that makes sense. if you have that boxed star shape, you can add however many or little holes on either side as you’d like (as long as it’s the same amount). lmk if you need a better explanation, ik this one was kinda ass lol
does anybody have any tips on how to hide yarn tails when switching colors? because with a mesh pattern it's kinda difficult to sew them and if I just tie a knot and then cut them it doesn't look very good :(
The tying knot and cutting method works *as long as* you knot every string on the same side. Determine which side of the front panel you want to be the back, then that side is where you want to have all your knots. Basically, use a crochet hook to carry all the tiny strings through the loops, so they're resting on the back side, *then* tie and cut them :) I hope that makes sense!!! It consolidates the knots so they only show up on the back of the panel!!!
Do you want it to be over size , because when I was making the pattern I wanted it to be more on the flowy larger side. Because mine also almost went around my whole body
Maybe if you want you can have 29 instead of 33 if that doesn’t work just make sure that you have a odd number of stitches (so the top point is in the middle) ✨if you still are having trouble let me know
hey! im trying out this pattern and im curious if you meant to say 33 boxes across or 32? i have 33 across and the grid is not even, ive counted yours in the video and it seems to be 32 squares across? unsure if this is a mistake on my part or not, thank you!
No cuz I got 32 squares too and I counted hers and counted 32 too so now I’m confused and looking at the comments lol. Did u end up finding out the problem?
I'm adjusting the size that I am making for my kid and I am wondering where the "17" coming from on the star graph? Wouldn't it be 16? Thanks for the tutorial.

Are you sure you are counting correctly? Count all the double crochets, including the starting chain. Make sure you are only skipping 2 chains. 96/3=32+starting chain If you look at your foundation chain, it should look like starting chain, 1 2 dc, 1 2 dc, all the way to the final dc

ch 2, skip 2, dc into 3rd st
repeat to the end of the row (33st)

crochet 12st on each side and repeat for 4 rows
to make the back panel repeat but skip the star and just continue using your main color for those rows
place panels right sides facing in, measure armholes and mark where you want them to end/how wide you want then to be
slst both sides up to the st markers
slst shoulders together
[for sleeves:
find armpit (at the seam) and ch5
