This is great, I appreciate seeing what it can be after a few years, thanks for the short video as well. live long and fly free EagleSong from me, a doctor!
Kristy, we’re having so much fun with the dead hedge here at RavenCroft. Soon a new layer of salmon berry canes will top the hedge. The layers are becoming an art form. This year we’ve added clematis and golden hops to add color and a bit o’ life! Go for it! Let us know how it goes…
Whoa, I love this so much! Really wish I had the room and the materials to build something like this on my property. Seems like a wonderful shelter for small creatures as well.
This is a great way to use up dead material and it looks great! I'm looking for ways to make a fence with cut saplings from 10ft tall lilac bushes together with live spruce trees spaced anywhere from 6ft to 12 ft apart in a straight row.. This is to keep the deer out my garden for next year veggie garden. Don't think I could hammer all the posts though (70's) but I do like to repurpose living materials..if you have any thoughts pls let me know...thank you and loved the video!

Yes, the dead hedge offers habitat for many creatures...
Looks great. I’m sure panning on making one myself. How deep did you put your posts in?
Good question, they are about 2' deep. Good luck on your hedge creation.

I hear you...in my 70's, as well. I hired a young man to do the post pounding. The dead hedge between spruce would look good and may keep deer out.
