Garlic Planting ala RavenCroft Garden
Просмотров 26710 месяцев назад
Planting garlic is one of my favorite fall rites. Each year the garlic is harvested in August, seasoned and stored for winter meals. The largest cloves are selected and replanted at the end of October here in the Pacific Northwest. Strong roots grow now and carry the bulbs through winter setting the Gardener's New Year in motion. An everlasting harvest!

Ash & Shells For the Garden

Wood stove ash and egg shells provide the garden with essential minerals. Soil amendments close at hand. Winter provides opportunity to add amendments to the garden while beds are open and there is still time for weather to breakdown and incorporate the additions.

Lenticels & the Quince Tree
Просмотров 5142 года назад
Lenticels permit the exchange of gases between the environment and the internal tissue spaces of the organism. This quince tree had its roots in water for almost 6 weeks because of the lenticels ability to exchange gasses through the trunk the tree did not die while submerged. In fact, it has grown a feeder root system that will kick in as soon as the tree is planted back into the earth.

    I accidentally came across this video while searching how to make this tincture and was blown away because I’ve met you in person. You actually gifted me a love potion that you took from a natural spring. We met at Mycelium Mysteries Woman’s Retreat in Wisconsin in 2022. I think about you often and the kindness you showed to me that day. I’ll never forget it or you ❤

      Oats need to mature more and be processed to eat them which includes milling the outer husk off before grinding or rolling. They can be harvested at the milky stage and dried for oatstraw nourishing herbal infusion.

    I have 2 year old Elecampane in my garden. Can I harvest it yet…? Is it more medicinal the older it gets…?

    • @eaglesonggardener1893
      @eaglesonggardener1893 9 месяцев назад

      Best to let the elecampane go 3 years to get a good storage root ball. After that you can harvest the long runner roots that come from it or lift the plant trim the root you need, divide the crown and replant. This plant is one I've been working over 30 years. The depth and beauty of learning your plant allies over time!🍃
