  • Finally departing Uyuni, Chad and Rose continue their never-ending search for fuel in the historic towns of PotosÍ - the heart of the polluted tin belt, and Sucre - Bolivia's Constitutional Capital.
    Along the way, they encounter abandoned bridges, flat tires, road closures, and Sucre's annual "Circuito Oscar Crespo" rally race, attracting participants and spectators from all over South America!

      Itchy Boots - I've been following her for awhile before finding you. I like her stuff because she's riding solo female (I'm one too) in crazy places (not me) and doing a fantastic job capturing it and putting it out there on a regular basis. You are doing the same, so the main difference is riding solo on a small bike vs riding 2-up on a big bike in crazy places. You're both really good! My other favorite, I've only recently discovered is Toyota World Runners. It is a couple traveling South America in remote places like you are, but they really stand out to me with their narration and video footage they are capturing, as well as finding really remote crazy roads to drive. Worth a watch, if you haven't seen them. Their narration is poetic and informational. Of course they have more ways to carry camera gear and keep it charged, than you do, so they are in a different category, I guess, but still very interesting to watch.

      @@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Hmmmm, well maybe I'll have to give Bolivia a second look. Besides cost of visa though is how amenable a place is to travelers on foot &/or using animal power. I'm thinking in Bolivia we'd be facing a "fuel shortage" of a different type.

      @TwoWheelsThreeSheets  6 месяцев назад

      @amygregfrancisco4372 hoof and foot is how many of the locals get around, but there are a lot of wide open expanses that would likely require sticking close to the highway. The trucks & busses can be pretty aggressive, especially in the mountains, so that's certainly a concern.

    At about the 18:50 time in the video take notice of the two Bolivian policemen (Pacos or Paquitos). Yes both were very helpful and that's awesome. It is interesting to notice that even though both are "on duty". Both are chewing and have giant wads of Coca Leaves in their mouths and certainly also Lejia (an activator/a chelate) . Part of the culture. Know that in Bolivia when working with locals in any fashion that for many (but not all) this is an intricate part of their daily lives. Work, meetings, gatherings...... rest assured that before ANYTHING gets done there is must be some coca chewing. My advice to you while traveling in Bolivia is to carry at all times a nice big bag of Coca leaves (preferably from the La Paz, Yungas region as it is known as the best for chewing) and some Lejia. Use when meeting folks or initiating any business. Its an ice beaker and will go a long long way towards making things easier for you. And lets not forget you too can make Mate de Coca (Tea) for yourself.
    Love the video guys!!! What an excellent adventure.

Cyclists like Mark Havran's Esolar recumbent bike set-up took it to an other level by engineering solar panels tilt sensors to search for the fuel.
