Your review was really, really great! Seriously, great review. I'm getting a Dasaita delivered tomorrow for my Toyota. Thanks.
Glad the video helped! You’ll love it.
Great review, honest and straight forward. You're easy on the eyes 👀 too, so that helps.
The fact you’re listening to Chasing You on the radio I want this radio. I like that song.
I am a massive Morgan Wallen fanboy lol 😎😎
@@AJLoDato22 Haha I think I like Last Night too but idkkkk yet letting it grow on me but mainly I only like Chasing You… with the sunroof open, back window rolled down driving on backroads. 🔥 a vibe. “well you should know that I haven’t given up, I’m just on the radio” 🎶
Nice review. So any quality control problems like the screen just blacking out like some other people have said? I so want a new head unit but it concerns me that I see other video and post that their head unit screens have crapped out in weeks or a few months and customer service Is not very responsive. Are you still happy with this unit?
I have had it for about four months now, with no issues thus far (my experience could be different than others). All of the functions still work great and it only glitches maybe once a month where restarting it fixes it. The only gripe I have is with the internal mic - it really is not that good and I find myself using my phone on speaker instead. Other than that I 10/10 recommend - it’s a total game changer.
can you access vehicle specific settings that would ordinarily be accessed through the factory head unit?
If you’re referencing items like ‘auto door lock, auto headlight, TPMS, etc.’. There is a settings function that includes all of those, but none of the items work.
Maybe a dumb question, but only thing holding me back. Can you download weather channel app or any weather app at that and get live radar/info as your traveling? Thanks!
I just checked mine and there is no Weather App. I also couldn’t use the download apps function because I don’t have a SIM card. Sorry!
@@AJLoDato22 Appreciate the effort! Thanks!
Thanks for all the info! Does the reverse camera display lag when you first turn on the car and put it in reverse right away?
Yes, but that is more so because the startup screen is so long. So the reverse camera kind of fights / glitches over the startup screen.
@@AJLoDato22 I have a T10 and it does the same. I'm still thinking about switching to the Dasaita though
With the phone plugged in to charge through the USB, does it mess with the wireless CarPlay signal? I ask because another head unit out there won't allow CarPlay with the phone plugged in to charge.
I have never plugged my phone into the head unit. Rather I charge it on a USB in the center consol.
How’s the unit holding up? Any consideration for looking for a different external microphone?
I ended up just selling the car, but it held up great the entire time. I would recommend buying a different mic. I believe it was an AUX hookup
What year/model is your 5th gen? I think Toyota made some changes to the factory head unit in 2020
Mine is a 2014 SR5
2020 and up, have a way better unit. Fast and never lags also Apple and android play as well.
I jus installed this head unit on my 2016 4runner and seemed to have lost my compass in my small center screen on my gauge cluster. Did you run into that as well?
To be honest, I didn’t even look to see if I had a compass before I installed it
Thanks for posting! I just installed mine this past weekend but I can’t get CarPlay to work at all for some reason. Everything else seems to be working, any suggestions?
Oddly enough mine auto connected when I first turned it on. I do know in your phone you have to add it in the CarPlay settings. And/or connect to the unit via Bluetooth as well for it to pick up.
I looked into it a bit more. If you get it connected under settings to Bluetooth, it should work. You can also set it up to auto connect.
I’ve tried to connect Bluetooth to it and I’ve tried auto connect and still no luck.
Would you know if this dasaita head unit can allow the use of sirius xm satellite radio?
I wish I knew, but I don’t use Sirius XM. I do know there are some good forms and Reddit topics on this. You may find some more info on those.
just use the XM app... then you don't lose signal either
Does carplay music turn off in reverse?... radio/Bluetooth works fine ... but with wifi on and or wired carplay mutes music for reverse... regular Bluetooth plsys music in reverse... only android auto doing this
Nope mine played music through wireless CarPlay while in reverse
Does it retain stock steering wheel controls and the OEM microphone for calls?
It will still have OEM steering controls. Now the mic that comes with it is crap, so I didn’t install it. I used the built-in mic, and it’s so so at best. I recommend getting a different auxiliary mic
@@AJLoDato22 so the OEM car mic doesn’t work at all with it?
@@TheSponge945 I don't think so
Are all your steering wheel buttons still functional?
Yup all are still functional!
Did you unit ever stop working? what problems have you come across after having it for a while?
Still works and I still love it. The only frustrating part is the mic. The built in mic really isn’t good, so I find myself talking on speaker phone most of the time
I have a 2013 SR5 (non JBL) single DIN and my brackets holding my stock unit has 3 screws and don't seem to line up with the new Dasaita. All other videos I found (including this one) has the stock brackets with 5 screws and line up with the Dasaita.... anyone else having this issue?
I can’t remember, but I thought mine only had three screws. And it took me a while to wrap my head around how it lined up/fitment.
@@AJLoDato22 thanks, I think I figured it out where only 1 screw mounts the bracket to the new Dasaita unit, not the most secure but I’m sure when mounted and clipped in it’ll be fine. Now I just need the correct wiring harnesses 🤦🏽♂️
I cannnot Connect my (male) cables harnesses to my car harnesses (female)
2012 limited with JBL
I wish I could help, but mine plugged right up. I didn’t have the JBL system though. I would check some forums because this head unit is a fairly common upgrade.
What do you do with the SD card?
Mine didn’t have an SD card that came with it. Nor did I put one in.
10 months later is it still working good? Thinking of ordring one tomorrow
Did you have to order the harness separately?
I actually just sold my 4runner, but up until then it worked absolutely great. The harness came with it, and was plug and play.
Once you do this Mod, does your USB port (below the head unit) still work?
Surprisingly you asking made me try it for the first time. It doesn’t work actually, but the cigarette lighter next to it does.
@@AJLoDato22 Interesting. I wonder if it’s like that on every model.
Does this unit still allow you to use the controls on the steering wheel?
Yup all of the steering wheel controls work great!
@@AJLoDato22 thank you for the fast response! 🙏🏻 I think I made my decision.
I just installed the same radio in my 4runner. Only problem I have is that it won't save my radio presets. When I save them then turn the car off then back on again, they're gone. Did you run into that at all. Thanks.
Ohh no, mine doesn’t have that issue - that’s really odd. Does your clock time save?
@@AJLoDato22my clock does save the time, just not stations. Original comment is mine also. Thanks for responding.
Dang that’s odd. I’d reach out to customer service for sure.
@@AJLoDato22I just installed this unit to my 4runner and my time and date are incorrect. I don’t have a clock app on the Home Screen or in settings either. I’m pretty frustrated on that right now. Any tips?
@@kmoser1214 It doesn't show a clock at all on the home screen?
does your sirius radio work ?
I don’t believe I had that in my factory head unit. And I can’t get it in this new one.
Any experience with Android auto?
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try it as I don’t have an android
Was this the 2gb or 4gb?
Ohh gosh, frankly I bought whatever Amazon had. In the description it says 4gb, but I’m not sure how accurate it is.
RUclips is asking for wifi any way of playing off cellular data?
I didn’t try but it may work! I saw in the instructions it wanted a SIM card and that was too much of a hassle for me lol.
I found a mirror function which streams your phone content to screen which works perfectly!! Great unit so far
@@nicklondon2272how did you find the mirror function? The not having access to RUclips and other apps is annoying
How much did this cost?
It was $600 off Amazon. Well worth it!
One note for everyone... thus unit will not work in limited 4runners I'm speaking from experience.
That’s odd. What didn’t work with it?
Got Dasaita G12 this morning and installed and DOA No Audio out of it period.
It sounds like it’s a connection issue. I’d check your RCA cables.
@@AJLoDato22 I’m Thinking it’s an internal problem with the computer board. I liked radio was really wanting the KENWOOD with Garmin GPS but the price I’m in to the Dasaita with the adapter 3.5 mm jack and Enfig Mic and warranty $850.00
@@dunnoyolo2238 maybe shoot them an email. I had issues with my Dasaita unit in my tundra and they helped in less than a day.
How much memory did you get with your Dasaita ?
Frankly, I’m not too sure. Really whatever was offered on Amazon is what I went with (link in the description).
@@AJLoDato22 because I went with the 8G-256G thinking that it would be more quicker
Ok you got the 4G-64G is it really responsive just trying to to justify paying an Extra $80 for more memory
What model # is this unit
