- Do you have an old 3D target that has seen better days? Well I sure did. I took my old 1/3 Rinehart Elk that was broken into a couple pieces and made it whole again. A can of spray foam, couple wooden dowels, some spray paint and a replacement core is all it took!

Dayum that looked better than some repairs i seen ....good job
Thanks!
I used liquid nails to glue my deer back together was busted just like your elk. Used ratchet straps to hold tension overnight. Used some dowels for added strength.Replaced the core new and done. I’ve used clear silicone caulk on different targets. It works better? than liquid nails if an arrow hits it. 👍👍
I love to see people fixing up their targets because it helps when I reorder new ones that they will be in stock.

Great work! Jeff, what size is the shop?
41x28
I bought a gallon of acrylic paint light brown and put two coats on several old animal targets with new cores. This was to help eliminate color zones . For hunting practice I try to shoot kill zone hits rather than be distracted by a colored new insert or score rings. After all, many animals have no score rings lol.
Very true hahaha
Dang, great idea to use dowels gonna do that when my white tail one finally dies!
Really adds a ton of structure even without the foam

Turned out great! Good job 👏🏼. What’s up with the last 5/6ish minutes of the video just being dark with audio? 😂
I thought was my phone
I gotta fix my Delta McKenzie deer shot to hell like your elk
I’m going to try your idea with the dowels but I’m going to buy some of that 2 part foam for 3D targets and try that
My deer doesn’t have a replaceable core sadly
If i was going to filling the core instead of buying one, I would have gotten the 2 part foam as well.
Looks good
What happens when you hit the dowels with your arrows??
they will probably just crack or break. Thats why I used wood instead of something denser like metal.
You need acrylic paint normal spray paint will eat the foam
If it makes it a year, Ill consider it a win.
