its a shame that the UBW anime didn't fully capture how truly tragic UBW is. it felt more like a shonen than a story about a lost boy unable to realize how tragic his life really is.
I've just finished reading this route yesterday, i liked Shirou so much watching the anime (even if the people around me only thought that he's an idiot watching it) that it feels so great. Nasu really put effort in hentai, huh.
The thing is when their swords collide. He get the memories of Archer. This video don't show full picture. Shirou's resolution is that he tries to save everyone. He will create a situation through which he can save everyone even it is difficult not like Kerry or Archer. They don't try to save everyone or tries to find a way through which he can resolve those disputes. They just try to find a best way to save more people. But he will not regret if he can't save someone like Archer or Kerry which ultimately lead them to their beliefs. Shirou is very twisted character and you can even call him the embodiment of every hypocrisies of any superheroes. he is very different to a normal human being. Many normal humans also have this very optimistic dream. Normal humans have this dream but they have their own sense of justice. But shirou is very different. he has a ideal but he didn' have any sense of good or evil or any form of justice. he only try to save others for satisfying his need of pleasure or the feeling of alive. he didn' even know the true reason of his dream. He also said this in Unlimited Blade Works route. [I swore so as a child. To fulfill the dream of the man I admired most. …But to be honest, I'm still wondering… If my idea is the right one. Where my idea comes from. What I can do even despite me being just an amateur. How to make the dream of making everybody happy, which Kiritsugu always talked about, come true.] his every ideal is copied. he copied everything from Kiritsugu. Even his morality is also copied from his father. he mindlessly follow it and trying to save others without thinking because he just want to feel that smile again which is present in Kiritsugu's face. he even also want a enemy or some 'true evil' to defeat as a superhero to feel that feeling of pleasure. kirei also point out which shirou wanted to prove wrong. [Rejoice, boy. Your wish will finally come true." The priest says, as if declaring an oracle. Those words are... Aren't those the true feelings I haven't yet realized "What are you saying all of a sudden?" "You should know. Your wish will not come true unless there is a clear evil. Even if it is not something you approve of, a superhero requires a villain to defeat." "!" I feel like everything has turned black. The priest said it. The greatest wish and the ugliest wish I have are the same. …Yes, the desire to protect something… …Is, at the same time, none other than the wish for something to violate it " Y-You" But there's no way I'd wish for something like that. I don't remember a moment when I've wished for that. Such an insecure wish… …Just means the target ideals are inconsistent. But the priest says as if to pierce my heart, "Good thing you have an enemy now." "No, you do not have to gloss over it. Your worries are normal for a human being." The priest smiles. "!" I shake off the priest's words and walk to the door. ] He later also said that he think he did actually want a enemy in fate route. that's why he actually want to change saber as a more "human" for her sake but never understand his own hypocrisy. that is the reason why fate route is route which explains Shirou ideals very well. Shirou forces his copied morality and fake love of human towards everyone without understanding their problems. he has very limited emotion and he can't understand the emotion of others. But he also never understand that he also has his own "true self" of his own but he never understand his true self in fate route. We also understand that his love toward human is not fake but it is the characteristics of his true self. it is also said by Kirei in heaven's feel route [I see. So that means you will not follow Kiritsugu's path." He talks as if he's disinterested. The priest regards me with a bored expression, as if disappointed. "Father's path…?" "That's right. Your father loved humans. Higher, wider, farther. He loved humans as they go over their limits without end. That is why he turned himself into the definite evil. That man would have killed Matou Sakura. He threw away his human emotions for the sake of justice." "…Is that any different from you? Casting away one person's happiness for the sake of justice, for many people's happiness." "No. What you people call happiness did not bring me joy." "Huh…?" That's not a reply. No, more than that… He's not even looking at me. "Right, we were different. He threw away what he had, but I had nothing to throw away. The result was the same, but the process was completely different. His existence was too unpleasant. His agony was truly unpleasant. If he went to such lengths to cast it away, he should never have had it in the first place. But still he agonized over his decision, trying to pick it back up after he threw it away. As if saying that is the correct way for humans to live." "The difference was crucial. Yes. If I cannot obtain anything, why was I born into this world?" The priest' words are not directed at anyone. ...But they contain anger. They contain emotion, which i thought this man didn't have. "…Hah. Come to think of it, there is no way you can succeed Kiritsugu. He did what was necessary by throwing things away, but you insist on having it both ways. We are similar, you and I. You died once and broke down when you were resurrected. It is posteriori, but you are like me, a defect from birth."
"What…? What part of me is broken?" "You just do not realize it. You have no concept of self. So I did not think you would concern yourself with a single person. No, rather" You are not concerned about many, but concerned about all as if they were only one.] In ubw he started to saw the hypocrisy of his own ideals with help of Archer and Rin and his experiences in ubw route. he understand that his ideal is always false. he has not any sense of justice and even his self. he also understand the inconsistencies of ideal of not just his own but also the ideals of others heroes. others heroes only force their ideals on the basis of their own ideals. He understand that he can't save everyone by forcing his ideal on someone. his way of saving only destroy anyone for others and only lead despair. But this is the route where he understands the true meaning of his ideal and his true self. he actually loved humans but very differently to his father. he loved the human emotions, love, compassion, shared human nature and values. He thinks that good and bad are situational. There are right and wrongs and those who didn't fear to this always lead a destruction. he want to become superhero to spread this shared nature and love of human toward each other into everywhere to form a ideal "human society" where everyone understand other's feelings and also think about the gain and loss of others as well as themselves without any prejudice and also create justice in this world. Shirou want to create a world filled with 'Swords'. swords represent Shirou's selflessness and his live for others. he want to create a ordered world where people also punishes those are bad or wrong in that situation. To destroy discimination, he want to first create a selfless world by eradicating prejudice and spreading the human nature. But it is still impossible to satisfy everyone. it still lead nowhere but it is able to create a better world. that's why he said ["I have created a thousand blades . Unaware of loss Nor aware of gain"] And [“Everything is here, and nothing is here. That is why this is called Unlimited Blade Works. This is the only definite answer obtained by the one who lived as a sword all his life.”] He will take every type of suffering and throw evrything for it to inspire other about this suffering. so people would also understand the suffering of others and started to create 'Heroes'. The thing is he considered living like this is beautiful. He considered enduring the suffering of others is very beautiful. In short he want to turn himself into a person who take every pain and suffering from others onto him and not giving those pain to others, to inspire others to be like him and lead a better world. he loves human so much that he loves taking pain, suffering and consequences of hypocrisies of every selfish human dreams from others to make them happy and to show human a better path for living as a 'real' human and also show that what human can do. So that no one would suffer from these selfish hypocisies. To teach other that pursue these selfish dreams by trying to eradicating these hypocrisies. He will not become a person like archer in which everyone force their mistakes to show their goodness but he will become a idol for others to inspire them to become like him and love others. He also accept hatred and sins of humanity and show the beauty of these ugliness and show how to use it improve humans as whole and use it to spread love and compassion towards each other even more. Shirou is a void who has not any values and sense of justice. He interpreted his existence is possible because of humans and for humans. That's why he take the decision to hold his own sense of selflessness and dream to guide others human's and their individuals ideals to interpret other's ideals as well to understand humanity as whole better. He want to guide or change human to believing this way of living by the influence of his actions, his guidance and beauty of this dream. He have not any ideals but he want to guide every human's ideals in right path by understanding every ideals and even the hate and love both towards his own ideals to convert his ideal into more better one. That's why he understands himself. Sorry for this huge comment.😔
Yeah there is one more interesting point to notice that rin and shirou's relationship is very similar to Claudia and Kirei's relationship. She can throw her own happiness to give shirou true happiness. Her role is to guide shirou in his chosen path and also remind him about his own self-conscious or his own happiness that he forget. The biggest reason why she had to do that. Because shirou after the event of ubw think that he and his power is existed in this world because others (humans). He thinks that his self is existed to protect others or become the servant of 'others' in right way. It means he is existed to guide human in right path. That's why rin can even throw his happiness to give happiness to his love. This is also very beautiful in my opinion. Nasu never wanted to implement hentai in vn but he has to do that because of the fan of vn of that time like this stuff. This is also happened with another type moon's great Tsukihime visual novel. This my own analysis of visual novel of ubw route. I don't include heaven's feel part though. I don't think that most of the people dislike him. Only few dislike him. Most of the people like him or haven't clear opinion about him.
For the person reading this message I hope you are doing good, I want to share this in a lot of comment sections so it can reach everyone possible including you so please read until the end: God loves you a lot and he wants you to be saved and happy, nothing in this world like money, fun or popularity can fill the emptiness in your heart, only his son Jesus who died for you can fill you who might not nothing know about him. He knows you more than yourself. You who turned your back to him, he is still waiting for you with his arms open to receive you again. You who fought against him and have done things that are unforgivable in your eyes, he will always see you as his son and he already paid the price for all your sins. Even if the world doesn’t forgive you, all that you need is God and everything will be alright, so trust God and no one else. Repent from your sins and never go back to them, and the most important thing is that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior with your voice and your heart, when you do all these things, pray to God and read the Bible(Christian Bible not a Catholic since the Catholic one might’ve changed the word of God to something that it is not God’s word but men’s, so read a christian Bible) so that you get to know God. Follow it’s word completely, because some people might say that the times and things have changed, but God never changes, the Bible says that the heavens and earth will pass but his word will never pass and that means that the things God didn’t like back then he still doesn’t like today. So don’t let anyone tell you that now you can have sex before marriage or something like that just because everyone does it, because the Bible says that wide is the path to destruction and many walk through it. When you pray, ask God to guide you so that you always walk in his righteousness and so that he gives you strength so you don’t fall to sin, and don’t just say I am a Christian and never read your bible or end up not praying because being a follower of God means building a father and son-daughter relationship with him. Fast and pray and be his son not only in words but also in your actions. Today God has showed grace to you who might be depressed, empty, are being hated or hates, or maybe you don’t receive genuine love this is even for you who enjoys or is comfortable with your current life. Whoever you who is reading this is, know that God is calling you to give you a future and a hope in this life and in the eternal life. Trust him, because he loves you so much that is beyond understanding, and the time is short. After you finish reading this message you might die or Jesus might return, so be ready and follow him, for today he stretched his hand to you because he loves you and cares for you and he doesn’t want you to go to hell, so please go to him, it will be hard because living for God means denying yourself and the things that you might like, but it will be the best decision you will make in your entire existence and I promise you it will be worth more than any of the things that you don’t want to let go of. Make the right choice, because today God has stretched his hand to you who he loves so much that he even died for knowing all the bad things you have done. That is how much love he has and will always have for you. I don’t know you but you might be going through hard times, so keep these words in mind that God gives hope to the hopeless and he heals any wounds including the ones from the heart, and he can do the same for you regardless of anything. Thank you for reading, God bless you always❤️
Japanese voice acting is in another level, they actually care and you can hear the emotion in these types of scenes, most eng dub is disgusting its legit like they read a piece of paper and that's it
3:35 this is perfection. The poem on the hill and the moment Shirou starts chanting... It really captures the emotion he's feeling and channeling through his words!
Sad thing is that even if Archer didn't make peace with his ideals and decided to go with his plan of killing himself it would be impossible for him to do it because the Archer from his past was not himself but another Servant so in the moment that he is summoned as an Archer the time line were he was summoned becomes automatically into a different one from his own and the Shirou from that timeline becomes a different one from himself so at the end its his own summoning what transforms the timelines in different ones from his own and he will never disapppear because he is not really killing himself, he is just killing another Shirou, thats the problem with multiverses: the past cant be changed. Its pretty much as the problem with Saber´s wish, she wants to change her past too because she thinks that her kingdom would be better without her but the thing is that again: the past can´t be changed in multiverses, so even if she obtains a real not corrupted Holy Grail her kingdom and her people would never change and the only thing the Grail would do to make her wish come true is just send her to another timeline were she never became King meanwhile her own timeline were she ruined everything will still be there unchanged, basically she would just be running from the truth while fooling herself with the tought that she made it, she fixed everything but saddly that is imposible in multiverses.
1.actually it probably was archer keep in mind archer as a counter guardian exists outside of time and space thus it would be possible for him to get summoned in his original timeline as a servant 2.actually it would be worse since camelot is a quantum time locked event the timeline saber's wish would have created would be pretty much instantly be detected by the world and wiped from existence to preserve the proper timeline
I mean actually, Heaven's Feel kinda implies he's free after Shirou abandoned his ideals. In UBW, after Gilgamesh killed Archer, the counter forces summoned him to prevent Avenger from being born and save humanity. In HF the same thing happened but Archer isn't summoned, implying he's free
@@zirotsero6951 Saddly he can´t be free, he pacted with Alaya so he will never be free. In UBW route he didn't return as a Counter Guardian, he never died in the first place, he just turned into his spiritual form to fool Gilgamesh(Every servant aside of Saber can do it) and after that he just made peace with himself so he stopped hating himself but is still trapped as a CG. And in Heavens Feel route he isn´t free either he doesn't even speak to Shirou at all, that was in Shirou's head only, an inspirational moment basically.
@@zirotsero6951 Thats because the Counter Guardians are the last resort, they appear when everything else failed and there is no other choice at all, the Counter Force works kinda like this: 1st level- It empowers someone to make him/her able to deal with the situation (In the Fifth Holy Grai War the one empowered was Shirou, yes, the fact that he was found by Kiritsugu, developed a Reality Marble thanks to Avalon and has Plot Armor is all thanks to Alaya so he basically has a Plot Armor that is justified by lore, by the way Sieg from Fate Apocrypha also was empowered by Alaya and Jeanne knows it but it was never mentioned in the anime). 2nd level- If the empowered person fails to do the job then a Counter Guardian is send to the place and basically nukes everything to not only erase the problem but also every single proof if its existence so it never happens again. 3rd level- If not even a Couter Guardian can fix the problem then more than one are summoned, like for example to deal with Primate Murder Alaya needs to summon at least 7 of them to incapasitate it, not kill it just incapacitate it. 4th level- In this level the treath is basically an evil god capable of destroy everything not only in the planet but maybe even the solar system or even timelines, in this case a Grand Servant is summoned, they are the bests of the bests and if they can´t deal with the problem then humanity is 100% doomed is as simply as that.
"I DID NOT BECOME A GUARDIAN FOR THIS!!!" I long waited to hear this line in the anime but got disappointed instead. It's one of the few lines where you can hear Archer's fury, rage and desperation instead of his cool, snarky and sometimes melancholic voice. Also it would be ironic if Proto-Arthur's origin is from Saber's wish, where she wished for someone else to pull out Caliburn only for the grail to simply create a male version of her, thus not really changing anything. P.S. DEEN/Stay Night still has some of the best soundtracks in all anime.
"Time will always be semented" "Dreams are always fleeting" "Wishes are always unrealized" "But those smiles he swore to protect" "The promises he made" "He will always strive to fulfill them" "He was never truly a hero" "He can only hope to be one" "He's just a child, chasing his father's back" "But, if nobody will take up the mantle of justice". "He'll continue bearing it" "For that is the only path open up to him" "The path of a hallow shell" "The imitation of a hero of justice" "A body made out of limitless swords" "The fate of the lonely hero EMIYA,"
I guess Emiya story inspired Fate Grand Order. Now we can see how all servants regularly serve counter force, appearing both in past, present and future and preventing humanity from extinction.
Makes me wish we had Emiya accompany us in the FGO Losbelts canon. He'll be able to guide Gudao, since Emiya's work as a counter guardian is similar to the pruning.
It really bugs me how some of the better servants to ever have at hand somehow don't end up present in the most important situation where they could be really decisive or just really story developing. Maybe it's because F/GO as a gacha game demands new servants and constant events to make itself relevant, but i really wished they could use the F/SN cast more, especially Emiya in the lostbelts because as you said it's kinda his thing to do the counterforce's dirty job. He has suffered from it, he has made peace with it. I feel that in the lostbelts, where the MC and Mashu are coping with so many conflicted emotions, he could bring so much character development on them if Dw wanted it.
Also just bear with me on this one. I'm in love Medea but she's barely been explored as a character. I know it doesn't happen, but man, if she were present in the Olympus Lostbelt i bet she would have gotten so much growth there that people would actually think of her as waifu outside the husband Souichirou memes. There's a good reason for which she's so apathetic to most men, and she has SO much reasons to trashtalk Aphrodite on Olympus.
I mean After lb7,we will finally go to Fuyuki, the origin of fate series. So we will definitely see Emiya there. What a way to end fgo by adding the real protagonist of the series.
-Archer is the Route in which he chose none but himself to pursuit his dream. And because of that, he suffered many flaws and have no experience to solve it properly. Most easy to see are the colors of his skin and hair change due to using magic the wrong way. -Both Kirisugu and Archer's ideology is wrong : *They think they are the judges* , but they don't select, they just grab the larger mob to save. . Just like *they're trying to build a sand castle* but made it with *all kind of dirt, stone and rubbish* . *Never put themself in the scale* , so they never know what's truly *important* for their dream, for themself. Therefore, their life is miserable. -Emiya on the other hand, after learning so much about the path he would walk, decided to *change, fix and improve* his idelology into something real but still maintain the objective. -> *The chad of Fate*
Archer is actually different to Kiritsugo. In his life, Archer truly believes in his own ideals but got scammed by Alaya just like his father in another timeline
Emiya lived the life of a hot blooded idealist, check rins dream cycles in the VN He hated he had to make compromises kept on trying to save everyone in front of him even if he never succeeded His grief is from his contract after death Again read the interludes in the ubw route
Emiya’s route was similar to the fate route. with the only difference, being the fact that he couldn’t save saber from her original goal, and because of that, he might’ve went down a dark path probably because he regretted letting her go in the first place
We all know Archer could have won right? but he was fighting himself and his other self, he obviously let Emiya live because by watching Shirou´s unbreakable will, he remembered why he became a hero of justice and tried fullfilling his "father" impossible dream
He didn't want to see anything. He wanted to see if Emiya Shirou could hold onto his ideals and he wanted to try and destroy it. In the end, he couldn't do so. Emiya would have gotten killed by Archer if he let his ideals go, but he never let them go.
Archer could have killed his younger self if he truly wanted, but he was trying to break his spirit and ideals aswell, so maybe (and just maybe, because heroic spirits are separated from time and space) that would create a time paradox big enough to erase the existence of heroic spirit EMIYA. At the end, Archer, by watching Shirou´s unbreakable will, remembers why he became a hero, to fulfill his father´s imposible dream. That´s why he stops himself from stabbing Shirou at the end. "There was such a man once". One of the most beautiful moments in Fate/SN no doubt.
@@asuraspath2262 bro, did you even read your comment? Your first sentence was "He didn't want to see anything." while the very next one starts with "He wanted to see" lmak
Compassion is a work of a nation. If you are seeing this, then be compassionate and do self-less deeds. If you are engineer, doctor, etc , then put your skills to work and save people.
This is SOOO well done. So much better at showing how tragic his life is than the anime. Show this to anyone who said ubw is trash and disappointment compared to fate zero
I rewatched the ubw anime last week and I disagree. Ufotable's adaptations of Fate seem to include pretty much everything important it's just they are often quite subtle. Which is the opposite of the source material.
@@mattynotfatty That’s literally not the point. It’s not about whether content is included but how it is presented. Episode 19 vs this is an excellent example.
This video clarifies one thing. When Shirou says that he will not regret the path, thats where Archer is correct. Shirou only knows what will happen. But Archer has walked the path, he committed those atrocities to fulfill a false ideal. Shirou just thinks about it. But knowing and acting on something is different. Thats the reason why Archer is right. Action speak louder than words. You can dream about something as much as you like. But when action comes into play, a person understands the true essence of the dream.
Not exactly, this version of Archer regrets his path but not Archer in other* Fate routes. In the Fate route, Archer committed to his duties as a Counter Guardian and never tried to stop Shirou, same with Archer from HF route. This version of Archer had a different life as Shirou and that's what affected his mindset. Even in the end of UBW, Shirou was able to convince Archer that his dreams were beautiful and he manages to change Archer for the better.
@@JM-wb8rq I think there all the same archer in both heaven's feel and the fate route just different circumstances that don't allow him to kill shirou And shirou in heaven's feel just straight up abandon his ideals allowing archer to be in peace he won't go down that route And fate route shirou is more oblivious if anything but since archer was gonna die from Hercules giving him those words of advice made his stronger So yeah all the same archer
@@nheyliger6378 EMIYA Archer is the embodiment of Shirou who wanted to be a hero a of Justice. We learn in the UBW, that a Shirou of a different timeline managed to become a Heroic Spirit. But the routes in Fate are all different. In HF Shirou gave up his ideals to save Sakura, and in Fate, Archer wasn't oblivious, he was just committed to his duties as a Counter Guardian. He didn't even plot to kill Shirou and even helped Shirou use Projection. UBW represents an Archer who regretted his path, but that's not the case for him in every route. Even towards the UBW Archer realizes his dreams weren't wrong, and accepts the Shirou defeated him in a battle of ideals.
@@JM-wb8rq I think you missed my point I know all the routes are different by circumstances of shirou as a characters Whether is love interest or ideals And we know archer comes from a time line similar to the fate route but not exactly but im saying all those archers in every route from shirou perspective is the same archers character just changes by circumstance on what shirou does and what happens to him And I said shirou from the fate route was oblivious of his nature of his power Not archer
Although I did not read the VN, I still enjoyed Shirou Emiya’s tale, I really liked what I watched, even if it didn’t capture fully the events or interpretations of certain things in the source material, I still enjoyed it and it was a great experience, I certainly loved going further into Shirou’s character and learning about what he stands for and his ideals, even though the anime doesn’t necessarily capture Shirou in the VN (according to some people).
as long as u have fun and enjoyment and had a good time knowing about characters, that's all it matters, never let some rando on other side of internet hamper ur fun.
Congratulations for 1M views! This is an incredible piece of art that tells a full tragedy in only 5 minutes, surprisingly similarly to actual greek tragedies.
He may end up like Archer in the future, but that's where Rin comes and she will never let it happen as long as she's on his side. Imagine they put this dialogue in the anime which makes it more sad of how Archer suffered a lot by being a guardian then realized that the dream he sought for a long time is just a meaningless dream after all.
The lyrics really feel like they're from Archer's POV as he yearns for Saber while trapped in the hell of the Counter Force, forever mourning for the Shining Star he's lost. Which is why I headcanon that Archer _is_ Fate!Shirou. And that it means one day, perhaps after being summoned to Extra or Grand Order, his great deeds defeating the Beasts of Humanity alongside Hakuno and Ritsuka will grant him entry to Avalon, where he can finally find peace with his beloved King of Knights.
Archer is close to fate route shirou. The tragedy is that he could not save her. She left still obsessed with the grail. His first failure. This is why the shirou who saves saber and himself is the origin of "fate", the fate route
Unlimited Blade Works BD set II: Q: What was the Fifth Grail War that Heroic Spirit Emiya experienced in his lifetime like? Was the Archer summoned there also Emiya? Nasu: It was a world where the conditions at the beginning of the war were mostly the same, but something was missing. Shirou summoned Saber and fought until the end, didn't save Saber's heart but understood her, and they destroyed the grail together and parted... that's the image I have. Takeuchi: Ahh, so something like a Fate route Good End we didn't make in the game?! Nasu: Yeah, probably. After that, it is believed he cooperates with Rin who survived, and heads to London.
@@shiroutheherotraceon3313 I never got why the hell would Takeuchi call it a "Good End" for the Fate route. If anything it's a "Normal End" or just a Bad End for Shirou!
@@GohanLSSJ2 I mean it’s a hell of his own making he should’ve known what saber was in the beginning, and knew how far she was going to go. If it meant achieving her ideals, instead of taking her as a warning, he grew inspired to do the same thing and when he understood what saber really was I think he began to hate what she became which was a counter guardian dedicated to one task and one task only with no end in sight except in the end at least saber could be saved. The same can’t be said for emiya
3:06 alaya starts giving shirou her power at the bottom half of his body.... Smh no wonder alaya wanted shirou she couldn't resist that EX Ranked Eroge Skill.
Paradox implies a singular timeline but every time a new archer(each archer is from a different universe) travels back in time they actually enter a different world to there original
Archer isn't coming from different timelines. The Counter Force transcends the timelines, and due to his acts as a Counter Guardian, EMIYA was welcomed to the Throne of Heroes. When a Servant is summoned from the Throne, you aren't actually summoning the real person but a mere copy of their spirit constructed with magic. So when Archer is summoned to a new timeline, it's still the same CG EMIYA.
When Archer told his whole story, I started to feel bad, but Shirou's words somehow got me back to my feet Shirou: Then we really are two different people. I will never regret my path. I won't regret it, no matter what may happen. That's why I will never approve of you. If you say that you're my ideal itself, then I'll destroy such an incorrect ideal with my own two hands.
@@dgmbomb because it is quite literally impossible there is no way he can save EVERYONE somebody will die whether he likes it or not you becoming the president or even building the first time machine is not impossible but saving everyone on earth is unless you gain the power to make every human life on earth immortal it just will not happen if archer couldn't achieve it shirou won't either even true magic couldn't do it
i only have 1 question, even if archer killed this shirou he wouldnt be erased from existence mainly because that shirou isnt the same shirou that will make a contact with the world and become and counter guardian right?but, what if archer was summoned in his original timeline,if he killed his past self that will one day become a counter guardian would that erase archer's existence?
Ars Oboro Well, Artoria servant is also a copy, but if she can get her wish which is undo her action I think she will be erased from wherever-original-heroic-spirit-is thus make her completely disappear But Archer is a different case, making contract with the World forced him to be separated from timeline and casualty so killing the Shirou that become Archer won't make any differences
Artoria is kind of special in the F/SN because she is summoned from the spot while she was still alive during both F/Z and F/SN which is major reason why she remembers what happened during F/Z in the F/SN. Archer on otherhand is another complicated one, because he is Counter Guardian, he has contract with Alaya so potentially he could create paradox by being the one killing Shirou who has not made contract with Alaya and by doing that dissapearing from the list of Counter Guardians. But that is just something that could potentially happen.
He isn't doing it to simply erase himself, there is a chance he can so he does it, but the main reason is that he can't stand the hypocrisy of Emiya Shirou's ideals that lead to the Heroic Spirit EMIYA and wants to kill him so Shirou won't walk down a similar path to him. However, at the same time EMIYA can't bring himself to kill those ideals (In UBW EMIYA could have killed Shirou at any time he wanted, but he always got in his own way, at the very end you see him pull out his sword hold it primed to kill Shirou and hesitate)
As much as I agree that the inner monologues are what makes Shirou Emiya,Shirou Emiya I feel like Ufotable could've done this alot better of they had adapted the Fate route first. Hear me out,as said by Bread Box who made a amazing review on Fate/Stay Night and Hollow Ataraxia visual novels, "The Unlimited Blade Works is the worst route with the BEST scenes" which is absolutely true,Archer was the main focus of both the routes and the best moments (Archer vs Shirou,Archers Betrayal and Archers Farewell) were all the amazing, but the thing is UBW had the weakest story leading up to Archers betrayal. Rin and Shirou didn't nearly have as much time to develop a good romance unlike Saber in the previous fate route who had the most time to spend on socializing and understanding Shirou. another thing that made Archers betrayal hit so hard was the existence of the Fate route itself,in the Fate route the Shirou that we create the shirou we follow never knows about his future and doesn't realize his tragedy and thus lives his life with a borrowed and fake ideal. we are blinded by the beauty of the Fate route, and when the existence of Archer literally contradicts the happy ending that we saw of Fate it really does make us question ourselves about Shirous "fate". not only that, but Anime fans hate Shirou because he's "stubborn, reckless and stupid" and is Self-Righteous when he's really the opposite (maybe except the stubborn and reckless part) In the fate route,we go through shirous hardships,we go through shirous past and his broken mind. but by the end,we know he isn't stupid. Sabers desperate attempts to erase her past like archer, and her fate of being unrewarded for her hard work and destroyed by his ideals angers Shirou, but he's self concious he's doing the same exact thing. when saber and shirou argue about this for the first time, saber says "I thought you could understand,Shirou" Fate Shirou saves Saber by showing he has no regrets,by showing that changing the past won't change anything and most importantly acts of justice DO get rewarded eventually. This Shirou doesn't know of his future, but he will not quit his unhealthy way of living as the Shirou living that way is his ideal, his "oneself as an ideal'. and we are back to UBW,because of all the inner monologue and a WHOLE ROUTE introducing us to the Emiya Shirou we visual novel readers love,Archer vs Shirou feels like the best scene of the visual novel. There are pretty big differences in the Visual novel version and Anime version of the fight,I'd say the anime did a better job at handling the fight itself. But the thing is Archer vs Shirou wasn't great because of the clashing of swords like gilgamesh vs shirou but instead clashing of ideals. The visual novel focuses this fight more on Archer,as he spends the whole beginning talking about his regrets and why Emiya Shirous ideals are wrong. Archer brings legitimate criticism to Shirou as well as presents him with his tragic future because of his ideals. I highly recommend seeing "Emiya Paradox" by Faye Kyrielight which shows Archers talk before the fight which imo is the best part of the fight itself. The anime did some AMAZING extra scenes, such as UBW was NOT present in the visual novel yet it was in the Anime making it visually stunning, and when Shirous UBW overwrites archers is probably the best part in my opinion. "that's hell your walking to" scene was NOT present as well, and that scene was AMAZING especially with Last Stardust playing. Archer seeing his past memories and coming in terms with his past was also adapted ALOT better than the VN put it. The UBW adaptation couldn't make the audience appreciate Emiya Shirous true beauty due to various reasons which is why it changed the opinion of fans so much. anyways,I don't have time to write about Heavens Feels beauty but Fate route must be remade!
@@whateverwhatever4476There was a caster route. Tho I’m just referring to her arc in UBW. I believe I’ve talked to you about this in a separate comment
How cruel, forcing me to look at an old mirror. So a hero like that, truly exist - Archer by Akane Sasu I really like his english cover and the word he add at the end of the video.....perfection
When you realize Shirou walked the "Path" first because Fate/ Zero came out after Fate/ Stay Night... Also... Fate Route Shirou reunited with Artoria in Avalon... UBW Shirou went far and beyond where Archer EMIYA supposedly died... HF Shirou fucking discards the "Ideal" for "Love"... It was only Archer EMIYA that ended up the same way...

Great a paradox... Alright which one of you guardians forgot to close the vault of glass on your way out after the raid? I swear to the traveller, it was the god damn vex this time!
From what I understand Archer in Archer timeline is still Shirou (Counter Guardian).Shirou(Archer) later become Archer that he meet. This Shirou later is summoned At Fate Stay Night timeline.FSN timeline is different than HIS own. That mean only His own timeline is a complete loop.
i feel like in the end ufotable focused more on animation then the actual tragic story of shirou emiya thats why even if we ever do get a fate route it might not even be as amazing as it was
@@kamijounotouma4686 Deen throwing the routes together in a way that has Shirou being attacked by shinji (ubw) only for him to accept his invite for an alliance (fate) right after is arguably worse then literally anything ufotable has ever done combined. Not letting UFO off the hook though.

Don't worry, the timeline for Moon Cell Emiya has a happy ending. He didn't have any regrets and was able to strive to be a hero of justice in his life.
That's a lot of wasted content that Nasu doesn't touch upon.. Though it would be really depressing and sad since we would basically be watching Archer's journey to eternal slavery and regrets...

its a shame that the UBW anime didn't fully capture how truly tragic UBW is. it felt more like a shonen than a story about a lost boy unable to realize how tragic his life really is.
I've just finished reading this route yesterday, i liked Shirou so much watching the anime (even if the people around me only thought that he's an idiot watching it) that it feels so great. Nasu really put effort in hentai, huh.
@@rohano6527 gotta make sure the main selling point at the very best!
…But to be honest, I'm still wondering…
If my idea is the right one.
Where my idea comes from.
What I can do even despite me being just an amateur.
How to make the dream of making everybody happy, which Kiritsugu always talked about, come true.]
his every ideal is copied. he copied everything from Kiritsugu.
Your wish will finally come true."
The priest says, as if declaring an oracle.
Those words are...
Aren't those the true feelings I haven't yet realized
"What are you saying all of a sudden?"
"You should know. Your wish will not come true unless there is a clear evil. Even if it is not something you approve of, a superhero requires a villain to defeat."
"!"
I feel like everything has turned black.
The priest said it.
The greatest wish and the ugliest wish I have are the same.
…Yes, the desire to protect something…
…Is, at the same time, none other than the wish for something to violate it
" Y-You"
But there's no way I'd wish for something like that.
I don't remember a moment when I've wished for that.
Such an insecure wish…
…Just means the target ideals are inconsistent.
But the priest says as if to pierce my heart, "Good thing you have an enemy now."
"No, you do not have to gloss over it. Your worries are normal for a human being."
The priest smiles.
"!"
I shake off the priest's words and walk to the door.
]
He later also said that he think he did actually want a enemy in fate route. that's why he actually want to change saber as a more "human" for her sake but never understand his own hypocrisy. that is the reason why fate route is route which explains Shirou ideals very well. Shirou forces his copied morality and fake love of human towards everyone without understanding their problems. he has very limited emotion and he can't understand the emotion of others. But he also never understand that he also has his own "true self" of his own but he never understand his true self in fate route. We also understand that his love toward human is not fake but it is the characteristics of his true self. it is also said by Kirei in heaven's feel route
[I see. So that means you will not follow Kiritsugu's path."
He talks as if he's disinterested.
The priest regards me with a bored expression, as if disappointed.
"Father's path…?"
"That's right. Your father loved humans.
Higher, wider, farther. He loved humans as they go over their limits without end. That is why he turned himself into the definite evil.
That man would have killed Matou Sakura. He threw away his human emotions for the sake of justice."
"…Is that any different from you?
Casting away one person's happiness for the sake of justice, for many people's happiness."
"No. What you people call happiness did not bring me joy."
"Huh…?"
That's not a reply.
No, more than that…
He's not even looking at me.
As if saying that is the correct way for humans to live."
"The difference was crucial. Yes. If I cannot obtain anything, why was I born into this world?"
The priest' words are not directed at anyone.
...But they contain anger.
"What…? What part of me is broken?"
"You just do not realize it.
You have no concept of self. So I did not think you would concern yourself with a single person. No, rather"
You are not concerned about many,
but concerned about all as if they were only one.]
In ubw he started to saw the hypocrisy of his own ideals with help of Archer and Rin and his experiences in ubw route. he understand that his ideal is always false. he has not any sense of justice and even his self. he also understand the inconsistencies of ideal of not just his own but also the ideals of others heroes. others heroes only force their ideals on the basis of their own ideals. But it is still impossible to satisfy everyone. it still lead nowhere but it is able to create a better world. that's why he said
["I have created a thousand blades .
Unaware of loss
Nor aware of gain"]
And
[“Everything is here, and nothing is here.
That is why this is called Unlimited Blade Works.
This is the only definite answer obtained by the one who lived as a sword all his life.”]
He will take every type of suffering and throw evrything for it to inspire other about this suffering. so people would also understand the suffering of others and started to create 'Heroes'.

For the person reading this message I hope you are doing good, I want to share this in a lot of comment sections so it can reach everyone possible including you so please read until the end:
God loves you a lot and he wants you to be saved and happy, nothing in this world like money, fun or popularity can fill the emptiness in your heart, only his son Jesus who died for you can fill you who might not nothing know about him.

1.actually it probably was archer keep in mind archer as a counter guardian exists outside of time and space thus it would be possible for him to get summoned in his original timeline as a servant
2.actually it would be worse since camelot is a quantum time locked event the timeline saber's wish would have created would be pretty much instantly be detected by the world and wiped from existence to preserve the proper timeline
@@Rei-Maon I mean, the point still stands that he didn't show up when the world was in danger after shirou gave up being a hero of justice
@@zirotsero6951 Thats because the Counter Guardians are the last resort, they appear when everything else failed and there is no other choice at all, the Counter Force works kinda like this:
1st level- It empowers someone to make him/her able to deal with the situation (In the Fifth Holy Grai War the one empowered was Shirou, yes, the fact that he was found by Kiritsugu, developed a Reality Marble thanks to Avalon and has Plot Armor is all thanks to Alaya so he basically has a Plot Armor that is justified by lore, by the way Sieg from Fate Apocrypha also was empowered by Alaya and Jeanne knows it but it was never mentioned in the anime).

士郎とエミヤの心情が分かる良いMAD
I guess Emiya story inspired Fate Grand Order.
Now we can see how all servants regularly serve counter force, appearing both in past, present and future
and preventing humanity from extinction.
Archer Emiya did stay with Chaldea, the entire times.
He was cooking for your Saberface harem, that's why he couldn't go to the Lostbelt
I mean
After lb7,we will finally go to Fuyuki, the origin of fate series.

-Both Kirisugu and Archer's ideology is wrong :
*They think they are the judges* , but they don't select, they just grab the larger mob to save.
-> *The chad of Fate*
Archer is actually different to Kiritsugo. In his life, Archer truly believes in his own ideals but got scammed by Alaya just like his father in another timeline
Emiya lived the life of a hot blooded idealist, check rins dream cycles in the VN
He hated he had to make compromises kept on trying to save everyone in front of him even if he never succeeded
His grief is from his contract after death
Again read the interludes in the ubw route
@@asuraspath2262 Nah
Archer could have killed his younger self if he truly wanted, but he was trying to break his spirit and ideals aswell, so maybe (and just maybe, because heroic spirits are separated from time and space) that would create a time paradox big enough to erase the existence of heroic spirit EMIYA.
At the end, Archer, by watching Shirou´s unbreakable will, remembers why he became a hero, to fulfill his father´s imposible dream. That´s why he stops himself from stabbing Shirou at the end.

Shirou is such a complex and tragic character UBW make me love him
3:21 your regret is because you won't regret
This video clarifies one thing. When Shirou says that he will not regret the path, thats where Archer is correct. Shirou only knows what will happen. But Archer has walked the path, he committed those atrocities to fulfill a false ideal. Shirou just thinks about it. But knowing and acting on something is different. Thats the reason why Archer is right. Action speak louder than words. You can dream about something as much as you like. But when action comes into play, a person understands the true essence of the dream.
I guess that's where Rin comes into picture...
@@JM-wb8rq I think there all the same archer in both heaven's feel and the fate route just different circumstances that don't allow him to kill shirou
And shirou in heaven's feel just straight up abandon his ideals allowing archer to be in peace he won't go down that route
And fate route shirou is more oblivious if anything but since archer was gonna die from Hercules giving him those words of advice made his stronger
So yeah all the same archer
@@JM-wb8rq I think you missed my point
I know all the routes are different by circumstances of shirou as a characters
Whether is love interest or ideals
And we know archer comes from a time line similar to the fate route but not exactly but im saying all those archers in every route from shirou perspective is the same archers character just changes by circumstance on what shirou does and what happens to him
And I said shirou from the fate route was oblivious of his nature of his power
Not archer
tbh this is better than ubw anime for explaining the contradicting ideal between shirou and archer

Congratulations for 1M views! This is an incredible piece of art that tells a full tragedy in only 5 minutes, surprisingly similarly to actual greek tragedies.
"Thus, my life needs no meaning" goes hard
This is one of the reason why this anime is valuable.
Don't worry, none of the three routes of FSN Shirou will ever become Archer. These Shirous will never make a contract with Alaya to become CG
@@GohanLSSJ2 yeah it's just normal end.
@@GohanLSSJ2 I mean it’s a hell of his own making he should’ve known what saber was in the beginning, and knew how far she was going to go. The same can’t be said for emiya

Paradox implies a singular timeline but every time a new archer(each archer is from a different universe) travels back in time they actually enter a different world to there original
It could refer more to the paradox that is created through Shirou's ideal and wishes, that is in itself a paradox
Also there’s isn’t ever a new archer is always just the same
Archer isn't coming from different timelines.
When Archer told his whole story, I started to feel bad, but Shirou's words somehow got me back to my feet
Shirou: Then we really are two different people.
I will never regret my path.
I won't regret it, no matter what may happen.
That's why I will never approve of you.
If you say that you're my ideal itself, then I'll destroy such an incorrect ideal with my own two hands.

i only have 1 question, even if archer killed this shirou he wouldnt be erased from existence mainly because that shirou isnt the same shirou that will make a contact with the world and become and counter guardian right?but, what if archer was summoned in his original timeline,if he killed his past self that will one day become a counter guardian would that erase archer's existence?
Archer is already separated from his or any timeline, so killing himself at his original timeline wouldn't make any difference
Nam Phạm Most importantly, the copy of the Heroic Spirit is summoned, not the actual soul/body. But it's still just as genuine.
Ars Oboro Well, Artoria servant is also a copy, but if she can get her wish which is undo her action I think she will be erased from wherever-original-heroic-spirit-is thus make her completely disappear
But Archer is a different case, making contract with the World forced him to be separated from timeline and casualty so killing the Shirou that become Archer won't make any differences
Hear me out,as said by Bread Box who made a amazing review on Fate/Stay Night and Hollow Ataraxia visual novels,
"The Unlimited Blade Works is the worst route with the BEST scenes" which is absolutely true,Archer was the main focus of both the routes and the best moments (Archer vs Shirou,Archers Betrayal and Archers Farewell) were all the amazing, but the thing is UBW had the weakest story leading up to Archers betrayal.
Rin and Shirou didn't nearly have as much time to develop a good romance unlike Saber in the previous fate route who had the most time to spend on socializing and understanding Shirou.
another thing that made Archers betrayal hit so hard was the existence of the Fate route itself,in the Fate route the Shirou that we create the shirou we follow never knows about his future and doesn't realize his tragedy and thus lives his life with a borrowed and fake ideal. we are blinded by the beauty of the Fate route, and when the existence of Archer literally contradicts the happy ending that we saw of Fate it really does make us question ourselves about Shirous "fate".
not only that, but Anime fans hate Shirou because he's "stubborn, reckless and stupid" and is Self-Righteous when he's really the opposite (maybe except the stubborn and reckless part)
In the fate route,we go through shirous hardships,we go through shirous past and his broken mind. but by the end,we know he isn't stupid.
Sabers desperate attempts to erase her past like archer, and her fate of being unrewarded for her hard work and destroyed by his ideals angers Shirou, but he's self concious he's doing the same exact thing. when saber and shirou argue about this for the first time, saber says "I thought you could understand,Shirou"
Fate Shirou saves Saber by showing he has no regrets,by showing that changing the past won't change anything and most importantly acts of justice DO get rewarded eventually.
I wouldn't call the UBW plotline the worst. Once you realise what Nasu was actually trying to do with casters arc it gets better.
