Her grandfather raised her to absolutely resent Shirou, yet she was still able to love him as a sister. It's like she's the sunshine in the abyss that is the Heavens Feel route.
I never got the impression that she liked him romantically, maybe it was different in the VN but it seemed more like she grew to love him as a little brother and her first human friend.

That is the reason why there are so many Illya moments in heavens feel. If I had to guess the plot, it would probably be about the Avenger class and the Holy Grail, and the Heavens Feel route would have Sakura as final boss with the route renamed. Also, because of the movie format for this route, al lot of important and amazing scenes were cut, and they also killed the explanation for the plot, serving us the "Avenger bad. Kill Avenger." So if you want to understand the plot better(Applies for all 3 adaptations) and get to experience an overall better experience, read the light novel. And for all you Illya simps, there was a cg with Illya that was cut. Go scream at Nasu.

It is one of a handful of fanfictions I’ve come across that has actually been COMPLETED rather than petering out over time, and the characters are all written very well. I hope anyone who wants to will enjoy.
VN player, unfortunately there is no single route were you can save everyone, the closest you can get is the UBW route the good ending saves saber, sakura, and rin. Heavens feel gives you the next best thing. at the end of the game Illya explains that this was done on purpose to give the VN more depth.

It's actually kind of important to consider the country and time period in a legal discussion. 18 year olds are still allowed to be together with 17 year olds even in countries where the age is 18 though. It would make high school pretty fucked up if everyone just had to dump the person they were dating once they turned 18 due to arbitrary dates & legal issues lol.

Adopted at most. Shirou was some random kid saved by Kiritsugu when Fuyuki was burning due to the grail mud from Zero. Though even then Shirou didn't know Illya until the grail war so adopted sibling is a stretch.
Here's the thing, the trade, Illya for Sakura, was not worth it. Sakura is ass, and not worth an ounce of what Illya is. The only bit of bad writing and storytelling in the entirety of Stay night, is the fact that Illya sacrifices herself for Sakura and Shirou to live. To save Shirou? Ok. To save Sakura? Fuck no. Sakura used Shirou, tried to kill him multiple times, turned him away from being selfless, which is Shirou's main selling point, and then basically had Illya die for her. Not worth it, Illya did more in Heavens feel and in the other routes, that Sakura has done in the entirety of the Fate franchise.
Reminder that Sakura was stuck in a basement being r#%! and was taught nothing *Nothing* If she was taught she would have surpassed Rin Illya on the other hands was trained and taught since she was born
