OMG - thank you SO much Eelis for making this Supercut video of my Outer Wilds playthrough. Getting to re-experience this in a bite-size format was incredible. I've already had several people reach out on my channel asking if/when I'll play the DLC Echoes of the Eye, and yes - I'm totally going to play it. I hadn't picked a date yet, but after watching this, I'm totally going to get it lined up for early in 2025. I hope you all will come along for what I'm sure will be another "I've watched dozens of playthroughs, and NEVER seen someone do that before" type of playthrough (a very common comment in my videos in this series...lol). Thank you again Eelis, this was amazing. 🙂
There's just so many possibilities with such an open world and nonlinear experience that just makes every one unique, so the "haven't seen anyone do that before" is very common. There's just so much detail into the game that you'll almost certainly never discover everything on your own playthrough
2:14:20 I think I can somewhat answer the question about what clue you were missing for the thing you were struggling with here: . . . . Spacers . . . . The only major relevant journal entries would be the ones from the white hole station (use the warp platform by standing on it at the moment of alignment), the high energy lab (the warp window is a few seconds long), and the one you were examining (the alignment window for both of the twins is the center point, so both the Ash and Ember warpers activate at the same time) The clues you were missing were the environmental ones around the tower, namely that 1) the roof was broken between when the Nomai died and now, so they wouldn't have written about it, or how to work around the broken roof; and 2) the body of the dead Nomai sitting under the bridge between the Ash and Ember towers, showing you how to not get pulled in by the sand stream.
we've seen "anglerfish are blind, so I need to turn off my flashlight" many times, now get ready for "anglerfish are blind, so I need to cover my eyes"
@@Imperial_Squid What made you choose that profile image, do you remember? I had this one for years and this is the third time I encounter someone with the same image.
9:05 When he looks at the map the first time, the interloper isn't there. That's because the time loop doesn't start until you look at the nomai statue for the first time, but the game still runs physics. If you let the physics run for long enough, the interloper will eventually crash into timber hearth. This isn't a problem in the normal game because it gets eaten by the sun, but they had to specifically delete the interloper during the intro if you take too long with the tutorial. It just gets spawned back in when you interact with the statue for the first time.
This was a novel and entertaining playthrough. The sheer amount of close calls to tripping into late game discoveries was hilarious. He was so genuinely invested in the game; the mispronunciations becomes just an identifying quirk. And I really liked how he reorganized the in-game logs into notes that worked better for him. Can't wait to see how he approaches the DLC ::)
The moment he didn't put his suit when he first entered the ship, i knew he would die from lack of Oxygen. .... and the the plot twist when he landed in one of the handful of spots where that isn't an instadeath lmao.
It's always so interesting to me to see what mechanics people manage to intuit that many others take a while for. For example Benjamight quickly thinks about the ice melting on the Interloper without any reason to, whereas many others take a while before they realize.
he also almost spagetti'd his way into meeting Gabbro without starting the time loop, imagine the reaction if gabbro talked about dying repeatedly before you realise you're in a time loop too
29:18 I’ve never seen this (or paid much attention to it) until this playthrough, but the way the atmosphere/magnetic field of the twins reacts to the supernova is so beautiful
I'd love to see a highlight of Juniper Actias' playthrough of Outer Wilds with your editing. I enjoy long recaps/best ofs such as the ones you make. Keep up the hard work!
Interesting how it feels like he has a bit of dyslexia and he copes with it by keeping an organized list written down (coleus -> colossus, words in the sentences). Or maybe not, of course I can’t make a diagnosis and all, but my friends that have it have similar issues. Also writing it down is just a baseline smart idea, but it’s first time I’ve seen anyone do it in these supercuts
Hey Eelis, I was wondering if you've seen the game Blue Prince and if you'll be doing supercuts when it fully releases. There's only a demo at the moment, but the game seems like it will have plenty of interesting twists for a supercut video.
Thank you so much for spending the time to edit these! I know the time commitment it takes to edit something as big as these, even if the editing is somewhat minimal, and the fact you manage to pump out so many of these so fast is mind boggling to me
I'm always a big fan of playthroughs that explore a lot of different places early, instead of super-focusing on clearing out one planet at a time, I find that it gives a way better idea of what is going on, while only exploring one place leads some people to get stuck on incorrect hypotheses that bias their understanding of the rest of the story Great stuff!
Between the way he can't seem to get any of the names right, and the whole 'number of probes' segment i wonder the same thing could just be that he is reading too fast. i know some folks cannot for the life of them read aloud because the way their brain works while taking in information like text
I've seen a lot of comments already hating on this playthrough and it just saddens me the audacity and hipocrisy some of you have. One of the best things about Eelis' channel is the opportunity to relive through other people the amazing experience that playing this game for the first time is. So, what about, idk, let's allow them to do exactly that and play for the first time with all of the fuck ups and misunderstandings that come with that? Because yeah once you've spend hundreds of hours playing the game and watching video essays and supercuts is super easy to say damn how does he not figure this out already, but come on, as if every single one of you figure stuff out the first time, sure buddy. Hell I think there hasn't been a single supercut that I've watched where I didn't discover something new out of some random situation or detail, and it blows my mind every single time. If every playthrough had everything solved at the first try then all of them would be exactly the same and Eelis wouldn't be able to do any of this. The beauty resides in the variation that comes from every different perspective. So ffs, let's all just calm down, whip out some mallows and enjoy the unique universes born from this big bang of a game.
@NewsofPE yeah that's true nobody cares and I can't control everyone's opinion, but I just think is hypocritical to hate on something that most likely happened to them as well in their first playthrough, like mispronouncing names or not understanding some things
@@jorgeninesieira2514 Yeah I agree. I love this game and the community but sometimes it can come off as a little pretentious and bitter when people get so hung up on certain things. As you said the best part of watching different playthroughs is seeing how different people react to the same situations
Huh? There are good playthroughs, there are bad playthroughs, there are fun, boring, infuriating, inspiring and mediocre playthroughs too. Trying to put them all under the same idea of just "reliving the experience" devaluates the personalities behind them. You can listen to the same song covered by a 100 of various artists and I'm sure you will have an opinion about every single one of them, no matter how good or bad the original was. It will be your own personal preference to state your opinion or not, but trying to control other people in that way is quite a shitty thing to do. Opinions don't need to be silenced, even if you personally don't like them.
Idk, the guy should be allowed to do his thing but spending time with someone who makes huge leaps of logic would get irritating. I feel he'd open the fridge, look at groceries he bought and say "no way! Aliens filled my fridge while I was asleep!". Creative mindset not a problem solving logical mindset perhaps? Oh well. Just means I won't be subscribing to this guy unlike some of the streamers featured on this channel.
It never gets dull seeing someone discover this game for the first time. And it's even better to see someone take the time to try and do it properly, not brute force their way through it.
you should take a peek at Bardic Jen's channel. i just recently watched a video series she featured in about her playthrough of a mystery game called "The Painscreek Killings", and then found out she's also done playthroughs of Echoes of the Eye (seemingly not the base game???) AND Obra Dinn. im not sure what their viability would be as supercuts BUT i think she's a very interesting and cerebral player.
I think im the only one that faced the anglerfisn of the eye and said "I dont fear you"... I see this part as a emotional and mental test for our character to overcome the present. Might be tripping but idk
I admit, that when he said "Colossus" with a straight face, I laughed for like 5 minutes straight And then every time he mentioned poor Coleus I at least chuckled The one Outer Wilds playthrought that really made me laugh, thanks, both to Eelis and Benjamight
