Oh Liesl, You have given me such pleasure and joy with this fabulous painting tutorial❣️ I’m originally from Québec, Canada and have always had such a love for the maple leaf.🍁 This is definitely my next painting that I want to accomplish and will also make one for my 90 year old mom for her Christmas present. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial . I learn so well from your incredible manner of providing instructions. Also, your oil painting is beyond phenomenal. It’s incredibly beautiful. You are such a talented artist. ❤ Your paint brushes are my absolute favorite. I wanted to buy a second set, but I wasn’t surprised that they were all sold out. 🎨 🖌️ Thank so so much for all that you do for all of us that follow you✨🙏🏻✨ You are so amazingly awesome 👏🏻
Aww, 🥰 you are just the sweetest person! Thank you so much for your kind comment, you have made my day. ❤️ I had a lot of fun painting this piece so I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. And what a lovely gift it will make for your mom. It will be something she cherishes I’m sure. 🥰 I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment today. I hope you have a great day, take care my friend!
Thank you for noting why you shifted from oils/acrylics to watercolor and why watercolor continues to hold your attention. We all benefit much from that!
Hi Liesl. I really enjoyed this video. I was fascinated by your talk on watercolour vs oil and acrylics. I love the immediacy of watercolour as, even though I've been retired for some years, I seem to have very little time to paint so it's great to produce a painting in hours rather than days or weeks. It does take time to learn watercolour but it's so rewarding. Thanks once again. 🥰x
The oil portrait of your daughter is beautiful. Would you please consider showing more of your other works of art? You are extremely talented and I so enjoy watching, thank you for putting out such great content. Looking forward to the Christmas painting!
Dear Liesl, thank you so much for sharing your personal story with watercolourpainting! It's always encouraging to hear of the process as a beginner painter. And of course, thank you for the tutorial and all the tips you share 🤗✨
Hi Liesl. I really enjoyed you sharing your art journey with us. All the things you shared about watercolor is exactly why I love it so much and why I have no desire to try anything else! I really love its transparency. You are an amazing talented woman! I’m guessing that’s maybe your daughter? She's adorable!!! I'm sure you could win a prize with that beautiful masterpiece! Have you tried portrait painting with watercolor? That would be fun to learn. Thanks so much for another lovely tutorial and sharing the Paul Ruben’s watercolors with us Have a bright and beautiful day! 💕
Thank you so much for your kind words today Laina. You are such a joy! It is a portrait of my daughter actually….which is probably why I love it so much! 😉😉 I have tried simple portraits with watercolors, but it’s definitely a bit tricky. I need to practice that a bit more myself before I could try teaching it to others! 😅 lol! I hope you have a fantastic day my friend. Take care!
You are such a fabulous artist! The little girl you painted in oils is extraordinarily beautiful! I know that you’re getting into Christmas now, but my cousin has requested an ocean painting with a sunset. There is no one else that I would like to learn from. Have you done something like this that I could follow? Thank you so much, Liesl! I truly enjoyed these fall leaves that you painted!
Thank you for the kind comment Lois! An ocean sunset painting sounds really fun! I’m not sure that I can squeeze that into my schedule right now though. 😕 I’m sure there are some tutorials like what you’re wanting here on RUclips though. I wish you the best of luck with it! Take care my friend.
@ Yes, I’ve seen a few on You Tube, but none are as great you would do! I completely understand how busy your schedule is, but maybe next summer you could do one. Thanks so much for your lovely reply, Liesl!
I so look forward to Thursdays because I know there will be another fabulous Liesel’s tutorial and this one was no exception. I love the simplicity of this creating a lovely group of leaves. As a beginner your tutorials make my work look like I have been painting for a much longer time. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us for Christmas projects. I Ct7ally have already done my watercolor Christmas cards but I am ready for more;Christmas designs.
Aww, 🥰 thank you so much for this kind comment. You have made my day! Way to go for having your Christmas cards done and ready too! 👏👏 You are in the ball! I guess you’ll just have to start on next years! lol! 😉😉 Take care my friend. ❤️
I've actually looked at this pallet a few times and plan on buying it, I'm not a professional watercolor artist, but I'm not a newbie. I started watercolor painting about twenty five years ago. I'm also not a paint snob, who will only use M. Graham or Daniel Smith etc. I enjoy trying new brands. I just got a Shinhan PWC set of tube paints which are beautiful and fun. Great video!
I actually really enjoyed this little set. 🥰 It will definitely work well enough for some fun painting projects! I really want to paint something with the blues with this palette, they are particularly pretty! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment today. Take care my friend.
Hi Liesl, how spectacular is your oil painting of a little girl! ❤You are so talented and creative! I enjoyed your maple leaves painting so much! The colours are so bright and pretty! Thank you so much for sharing. Helene
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely comment, It means a lot to me. 🥰 I’m so happy you enjoyed the tutorial. I hope you have a lovely day Helene! Take care and happy painting! 💕
Oh Liesl, your portrait is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for the great leaf tutorial. Fall colors are my favorite! Wonderful tips as always. Happy Halloween 🎃
I've been working too hard at drawing maple leaves! I just have the toughest time with them 😣. LOL 😅 It never even dawned on me to use an actual leaf. Thank you Liesl! ❤️
Hello Liesl! Happy Halloween. I absolutely loved your oil painting! You are so very talented. This week's tutorial is fantastic and so beautiful for fall. I will definitely be giving this one a try. Thanks so much for sharing your back story on watercolor. I enjoy watercolor so much more once I founnd your channel. I feel as though I'm improving and my family fan club agrees. 😂 Enjoyed the informative demo on the paint pan set too. Thanks for all you do. You are so appreciated. BTW I love painting to your sweet piano 🎶. Take care of you ❤
Oh yay! This makes my day to hear Laurie. ❤️ I wish I could claim the music today, but this piece was composed by Aakash Gandhi, beautiful music! (I haven’t had a lot of spare time to write a new song yet and I was getting tiered of my other pieces! lol! 😅) Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment today. I appreciate you so much! 💕
Hi! Thank you, I just tried this and it worked really well. As an additional tip, if you don't like the graphite outline showing through the watercolor, instead of graphite trace with watercolor pencils in as pale a color as you can still see. If you don't have watercolor pencils, chalk pastels work, too, though the sketch won't be as detailed (unless you're better with chalk pastels than I am, which is certainly possible). Charcoal is also water soluble, though you'll get a black border. Maybe useful for spooky leaves, idk.
Yes, those are all great ideas! Pencil lines personally don’t really bother me too much, but these are great tips for others who don’t. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
I just love autumn time! Sometimes I forget that there are other places that are in a totally different season than I am! 😅 In fact it just snowed here yesterday too! I appreciate you taking the time to watch today Peg. 🥰 Have a wonderful day!
when I first started to watercolor I learned to use toothpaste to help keep theh new palette from bubbling like that. rub a touch of it in and rinse with water. I LOVE your child painting in a different medium You are so talented, n
Yes, I’ve heard of that method, but haven’t tried it myself. Does it work good? I appreciate you taking the time to watch today Cindy. 🥰 Have a great day!
Hi! Thank you for comment today. 🥰 The brushes that I’m using in this video are Craftamo brand designed and created by me. ☺️ They are actually all sold out, but there’s a chance Craftamo may let me do a second batch if there is enough interest in them still. Here is my brush product page you can click on and sign up to be notified if they become available again. www.craftamo.com/collections/collaborations/products/liesl-x-craftamo Have a great day!
Hermosa pintura. Como no entiendo el inglés hablado, desconozco tus historias, qué pena. Tan sólo he hechado de menos la sombras de las hojas, sería bueno porque daría más profundidad. Gracias desde España. 🌹

Like you I did oil, acrylics, even colored pencil and pastels. I hated watercolor in the beginning now it’s my favorite!
Yay!! Sounds like we’re two peas in a pod! 😅 Watercolors are a great medium aren’t they?! 😁 Thanks for watching today. 🥰
Beautiful leaves! I really like this set of watercolor paints. I may have to order!

Wow look at that paint bloom..

The colours of autumn are so beautiful. It's a pity we are going into summer here in the 'land down under'.

If you rub on toothpaste let dry a couple minutes then buff off .. paint will not bead up .. might need to do twice 😉
👍
I use a magic eraser
👍
Glue stick works too
It's just beautiful I definitely see why that's your fav...and thank-you..Happy Halloween for you also..
Thank you Dawn. I’m so glad you like it! 🥰 Take care!
