If you really listen the ATLP is much more aggressive and louder at WOT and when simply cruising it's nicely toned and quiet but not to quiet. To me ATLP wins hands down.
ATLP for me. I want it to be a dignified, sporty rumble but not loud at all. I hate loud exhausts, and so I'm sure do my neighbours. Gentleman's express is what I'm looking for.
All systems in the video are non-resonated. Interesting how some people like one system over the other...you either like the XLR8 or the ATLP...they sound different for different tastes.
I did some exhaust work on my 04 expecting it to sound close to this, but have learned very quickly the stock j pipe makes the car sound much different :( need to get me one! Also, did the atlp j pipe still have the third cat?
The j-pipe upgrade does make a difference but we have not found J-pipes and 3rd cat deletes to make a huge sound change. A little more aggressive tone, but not usually much louder. The ATLP V2 does not delete the cat, the Race V3-R does.
My 2G (2003) TL decided to do a spontaneous muffler delete so I'm looking at a new catback. I'm interested in the ATLP. Are these still in production? Are high flow cats available?
Getting an exhaust with a resonator in it is a great way of ensuring that the interior sound will not be too much. Both systems here will make more sound than stock, and while the XLR8 is more in the foreground than the ATLP is, neither one drones when ordered with a resonator. These options are available on Heeltoeauto.com!
Heel toe i have a 06' Acura Tsx with Cat but resinator delete, and Dual exhaust which Are MagnaFlows the sound is nice Deep at Low And mid rpms But when at high rpm 6,500-8,000 it sounds like a Rally Race car with a little rumble, but i want it to be deep toned and beastly sounding Like this, any thing you recommend?, any exhaust/mufflers you guys rec? IMO im sticking to single exhaust because i would have to do a rear bumper lift if i wanted Dual tip Dual Exhausts.
HeeltoeAuto I've been impressed with the sound of the XLR8 catback for a few months. My only problem is that I love the way that the stock Type S quads look more than any aftermarket option that I've seen. Would it be possible to install the stock tips on an XLR8 system?
That's always been something of a personal preference people have mentioned over time. The two systems have a unique look and unique sound. I've heard people wish they've had ATLP look with XLR8 sound as well. Unfortunately the signature look and sound of XLR8 is just not available any longer. :( We had considered evolving the ATLP into a v3 version that could have a different look and evolution of the sound.
@@Heeltoe.can I run a ATLP Jpipe V2 on my 2012 TL with XLR8 catback? I’m not sure if my mid pipe is 3” but if it isn’t ima upgrade it to that. unless you guys sell RV6 j pipe for FWD 2012 TL only because of the slightly higher rasp and sound of the RV6. what would you guys recommend to compliment my XLR8 catback
Well, it technically opens up the exhaust for better flow. So no, it doesn't use more gas, but when you step on the gas, you'll love the way your exhaust sounds, and you'll be using up your gas more just to hear your car purr lol.
I personally think that the XLR8 has a deeper more exotic car sound the other sounded more like a 6cyl Honda would sound with an exhaust but that's just in mho
Having heard both in person, the XLR8 does sound like an exotic car. The ATLP sounds like a European car like a BMW M car. It's smoother and throatier sounding. It doesn't exactly have that very deep tone that many Honda systems have.
The ATLP and XLR8 Quads are for Type-S bumpers. The XLR8 Single outlet and ATLP Base are made for the standard bumper. The Quad systems can fit Base TLs if they have the TL-S A-Spec rear lip installed.
so for the atlp quad exhaust I would only have to order the exhaust system with the quad tips correct? I live in cali and it’s super strict here I want the atlp because it’s loud only when you want it to be.
Happy to help! We do not have a video this way...the difference would not be able to be heard in a video. The difference is the interior sound level, where a resonated system would be quieter.
Love the ATLP sound at idle but XLR8 sounds better and more consistent at WOT I find- that and its very distinguishable from Greddy, Magnaflow- all the deep throaty exhausts out there. Its too bad the ATLP base with single tip is on permanent backorder. Anyone hear if and when they might be bringing it back?
Henry George We aren't sure the XLR8 sounds more "consistent" at WOT...maybe, louder or more overt...most people tend to agree that it is more noticeable in the video. Also, most people with an ATLP will agree that videos do it absolutely no justice at all. Without the burble and higher pitches, the RUclips video does not pick up the refined, throaty growl. The XLR8 is definitely a distinct system, but so are each of those you mentioned. They all sound different, but one can't draw comparisons from just videos online.
Aaphree Such is the life of running a car parts website. Availability and pricing changes with the wind, and you rarely get the memo. Note to all web shoppers: "listed on a site" is not the same as "in stock" or even "can get it for you."
I know these exhaust mods are for TL but I have a ‘12 MDX and am looking for a somewhat louder and throatier sound. I’ve browsed your website and seen the pre-cat pipe and more and was wondering if you could merge TL pipes with MDX bc they are similar J series
I just sent them an email asking exactly what you just asked. I too have a 2012 MDX and would love to merge the XLR8 Quadtips into mine. Love that sound!
You may need to widen the exhaust opening in your base TL bumper. The quad exhaust is wider on the 3.5L TL. Also, note that the XLR8 quad exhaust is designed for the TL Type-S, not the base. I'm not sure whether or not it will fit the 3.2.
John Nalls Both ATLP and XLR8 Quads will fit on the Base TL. But as you mention, the tip opening needs to be widened. You install a TL-S rear lip to finish it off.
So I have a question. I love the way the XLR8 V2 J pipe sounds, but is it California legal? Or am I going to be stuck with getting the ATLP exhaust? I want the car to sound as loud as possible
+Aiden Connor, They exist. Searching on Acurazine will reveal some threads about performance pre-cats for the Gen 3 TL; I'm not sure if they are still available. You may be aware that there's a high-flow, mid-cat that's available that maintains emissions compliance while adding ~ 3 -5 hp.
Would adding a just a J pipe to the stock exhaust change the sound much? I'm looking to add some more power to my 08 type S, but I really don't want a loud car. any advice?
+Marco Barbuto , I have an '06 AT with numerous intake & exhaust mods. Singularly, my Greddy, stage 3 cat-back setup alters the sound more than any other. Greddy's upsizes the pipe, eliminates the mid muffler, eliminates the resonator, and deploys their flow-through cans. Exhaust mods can create harmonics or resonance within the cabin at certain rpm ranges...around 2,100 rpm in my case. Greddy no longer offers the setup I have, but I mention this as a consideration if noise is an issue. Frankly, the noise on the street (passerbys) is not that great, it's really the interior noise that may be obnoxious; this could detract a bit from enjoying the sound system.; This said, I was looking for maximum hp gains, and I got those from a full intake & exhaust work-over. ; I also purchased a J pipe from HeelToe, and it did not alter the sound that my cat-back produces.
I don't really know a lot about cars. I was wondering if you could help me. I have a 2005 acura tl. I want my car to sound nice what woukd i need to buy and not spend a shit load of money on it?
Sure Heeltoe can help! It sounds like you need a simple exhaust system. Because you have a Base TL you might best be looking at dual exhaust options (dual single tips, not quads). We have a couple we can link you to. Email us at support@heeltoeauto.com
Eddie Cruz look up the exhuast mods for the TL. I did a stage 4 on mine. basically just remove mid muffler and resonator and replace it with pipe. $60.
You still answering questions dude? What’s the difference between a v2 and regular? How many gains can I see on my V6 AWD 2016 Acura TLX (does have aftermarket intake) ATLP sounds so good.

ALTP quad sounds the best. it's just a bit deeper than stock and that's a great thing. not too loud
