Vincent D’Onofiro was BORN to play Wilson Fisk/Kingpin!!
In this episode alone he makes you become as invested in the villain as much as the hero. First we see him from the perspective of Vanessa as a nice, shy, gentle giant who (unlike most rich men who just want to buy their way to get whatever they want) wants to EARN her affections. The line “A woman that can be bought isn’t worth having” is SO powerful and beautiful, and one I believe in with all my heart.
And then when we see him away from the public’s eye, and especially when he is offended, The Kingpin is like an enraged and unstoppable gorilla!
I honestly feel he's the best Marvel villain in a series or movie, even including the MCU. Because of all the things you described about him, as well as because he actually believed he was doing the right things to change the city.

Steph's reaction to Matt's flirty response to Claire just proves that Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock's got game that doesn't just affect the lady he's going for, but also all the audience.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series. My favorite scene (which was edited out of the reaction 🥺), is when Claire maniacally laughs at the Russians holding her and says, “ask him yourself!”. She knew in that moment, she was saved and Matt was gonna bring the hurt to them!
Daredevil was so good.. actually one of the better Marvel series, possibly the best. All the cast members were so good.
I would say that the only real competition this DD series has in Marveldom, all things considered, soup to nuts, is Jessica Jones. It's subjective, of course, but I suspect this view would probably win a plurality.

@@priyanshusonkar5381 imo season 2 and 3 of JJ are worth watching mostly because of good acting/characters. Story is not as good as 1st, and some scenes are cringe. But even with all that, casting of JJ is very good, just like DareDevil

This writing for this rendition is just ... Muah *Chef's Kiss*. I mean the actor is great but the range that the writing on this show allowed him to have. Whew... D'Onofiro has this character pegged sooo well. Hint Hint Marvel, it isn't JUST the actors who made this show what it was. If you are gonna have more grounded shows, you need to ground them THIS DEEP!!

Make sure if you’re watching this series in order specifically, then you need to go through Seasons 1 & 2, then the Defenders Season 1 and finally onto Season 3 of Daredevil otherwise you’ll be confused at where the story is in Season 3.
You should probably look up the order in which the shows go because the defenders includes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist
And they're all worth watching, especially Jessica Jones S1.
And then the Punisher as well

so a couple of things. 1. the actress who plays Vanessa is Ayelet Zurer you might recognize her as Lara-EL mother of Superman in Man of Steel.
2. The reason Hell's Kitchen is bad in this show is because it was destroyed in the Avengers (2012) and mobsters bought up the real estate and moved the crime in. the real Hell's Kitchen was gentrified years ago.
Absolutely loving this watch along series with these two wonderful badass ladies. It’s a great way to rewatch a series I’ve been wanting to watch again too. Love reaction videos and the WhirlGirls. This combines both. Such a win!!

The wine thing is to check if the wine has been exposed to the air/gone off (corked) so you can tell the waiter. Most think it's you telling the waiter you like it which is incorrect. X

The whole tasting wine before pouring glasses, isn't about quality or seeing if you like it, it's to make sure the wine hasn't turned and gone bad! While not as big an issue these days with screw caps and synthetic corks, but it can still happen, especially if the wine isn't stored properly. The bigger issue is when using natural cork, which can have all sorts of different issues, from being harvested from a diseased, infected or infested tree, whether it's bugs, mold, rot, parasites or simply just an anomaly in the way the bark grew; all of which can cause the wine to interact with the cork and turn the wine, rendering it undrinkable and more like vinegar!

When a sommelier or server presents wine, it's not actually to taste it to make sure you like it. The guest isn't even supposed to taste it. It's for the guest to smell to make sure it isn't corked or oxidized. That is the only suitable time to reject a bottle.

Is there anything Marvel has done that is better written than this? IMO, this is either the peak or extremely close to it. I also like the serial storytelling ... just like what you get with the comics ... as opposed to trying to shoehorn the stories into a movie format.

Hey! Hell's Kitchen isn't nearly as dangerous and gritty as it was from the seventies through the nineties, when it went through a massive overhaul along with the Times Square areas. Of course the loss of population and businesses since the pandemic have turned the Kitchen and Times Square into bleaker, darker reflections of what they used to be.

I think things like the violence at the end of this episode are the reason why marvel is probably going to be rebooting daredevil with born again instead of carrying on this series. I mean sure they put these episodes on Disney+ but they haven’t said or done anything yet telling the fans that they have to watch this to understand what’s about to happen and if daredevil pops up in the MCU referencing events from these shows that means all the little kids who obsess over marvel superheroes and want to watch all the movies and TV shows now have to talk their parents into letting them watch a show where a man gets decapitated with a car door!
This is a great series, I dought Marvel can do any better. You have to watch Jessica Jones season one.

Really, I'm most interested in their take on Jessica Jones. Chronologically, isn't it next? I think it was before Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Ritter killed it in that one.
