Hi Claire, this is a really interesting and informative video - thanks!
If I could add a couple of nuggets from my time in the RAF:
1. Keep the thing you might to access quickly either in side pockets or in the top of the pack. You don’t want to have to empty half the pack just to get your waterproofs.
2. Minimum number of socks = the number of days out +1 (for a short trip) or +2 for a week
3. Softer items placed against your back; bulky / odd shaped items furthest away from you; this reduces the chances of getting poked or rubbed by something sticking out.
Nice job!
Lol thanks Tony! Did you watch the film and see me doing all these things? Great advice for newbies tho! Thank you :)
@@wildgingerruns I did watch the whole thing and just wanted to reinforce some of the points 🙂
@@tonyreeves5083 Ah fab! Yes they are good top tips to make for sure, thank you Tony :)
Brilliant work Claire , it is interesting to see all the items you need have for camping . Have a good trip !
Thank you! 😀
Brilliant as always 👌
Thank you my dearie! Hope your running is going well this week!
you could probably save a bit of space by repacking the dried food into ziplocks or similar?
Great idea Andrew thanks for sharing :)
Very nice video as always, Claire, but why not experiment with some lighter weight gear, even ultralight weight in the future? I'll bet you could get that down to6 to8 kg, including food and water and give your spine and knees a break.
Lol thanks Doug, I do have lighter gear but I deliberately went for the heavy stuff as I'm training with a heavy pack for my ultra running. I'm quite used to carrying around 15kg due to lugging my toddler around atm, I'll defo not be racing with this lot tho! ;) Claire
Claire, were you camping at mermaids pool on kinder on Saturday?
Hey no I wasn't, were you? Sounds like a great place!
Im looking for a tent to sleep in when I do the NVR any recommendations
Hey David, I think this one is a really good one amzn.to/41yNj3m Will that work for you? Claire
@@wildgingerruns thanks Claire. As I haven't been to the NVR before and don't know the area is it an easy place to get to on public transport. Getting to Peterborough i don't think would be difficult its getting to to campsite
@@davidpollard343 Hey David, getting to Peebro is easy, but unfort then the race is not so simple via public transport, I recommend you join the FB group here to get a lift share with someone coming from Peebro, hope that helps! facebook.com/groups/365406784151408
@@wildgingerruns thanks.
