The information you provide is priceless. It helps us budget guys make sound decisions on how to get the best bang for our buck. Thanks for your honest reviews Todd. ( And your videos of ya'll slamming hogs are an extra added bonus )

Thanks for posting! When Trijicon thermal scope videos are posted there are no "bad" videos. Those 640 BAE cores are the "Cadillac"!!

I’ve sent my ir Hunter back twice now and wish I’d never considered trijicon. I have several thermal optics (trijicon ir Hunter 35mm, ATN Thor LT 5-10x, and a Bering optics hogster 25mm) and have only had trouble with the trijicon. The trijicon wouldn’t stay zeroed and once I received it back after being repaired it would randomly show a washed out screen that a NUC or restart wouldn’t cure. Trijicon refuses to swap the scope since they can’t reproduce the newest issue. At this price point I expected a much more solid unit. The Bering optics hogster was intended to be my scanner and luckily has been very dependable unit that I’m hunting with while waiting on trijicon. I’ve had no issues with the trijicon either but it only gets used when my daughter joins me for a coyote hunt. This review was very accurate of the trijicon thermal products in showing that the view is comparable to units which are half the price of trijicon.

You got a lemon unfortunately, the chances of a Chinese Bering optic going out are exponentially higher. That doesn’t make you any happier I understand. Trijicon has been knocked out by Nvision they have a better optic, longer warranty, better service, for less money than Trijicons.

I have the 35mm which has been nice. Do you find there’s any POI shifts when zooming in? I usually shot on 1x and rarely, if ever 2x. 4x and 8x are unnecessary for our style of pig slaying

Making me wish I had more magnification than what I currently have! Farthest shot with my xp50 was 240 yds but would be way easier with that 60 you got! Nice video.

Yes the pulsars need more magnification in a bad way.

I’m wondering if you can show a shot group on paper. Say 5 shots at 100yards. And 5 shots at 200yards. I used a buddies thermal and it just isn’t as dialed in like our Nikon daytime scopes.

How hard is it to scan with the 60mm?
And also the field of view appears to be 7 degrees on the 60, and 12 degrees on the 35 so what does that translate to at 100 yards? (How wife can you see?)

  • @longranger5226

    Todd,
With your experience, what thermal gunsight would allow enough definition for a 300 yard shot? I shot a coyote with my Pulsar XD50a at a hair over 300 yards, but that’s not a range at which I have a lot of confidence at night. Also shot a opossum at 225 yards, but again, the limiting factor is my thermal optic. At these ranges, I use the 8x picture in picture function which blurs the target’s heat signature considerably.
What optic, in your opinion, would provide enough resolution and optical power to accomplish this?
Please don’t say, “An Apache.” :)

      Trijicon mk3 60mm or reap ir 60mm.
