Clever wordplay in the lyrics. It might all be surrealist nonsense but it just sounds great and it’s highly original. A refreshing change from all the “I wanna hold you in my arms forever” love song cliches.
I had my first job in general engineering when this record hit the charts. I was just 16 back then. Seems like yesterday. How quickly the time flies. And how much quicker it flies today. 😔
Really makes me sad these guys aren't very well known. Seems like only this song and "I'm not in love" are the only popular ones. "Food for Thought", "Dreadlock Holiday", and "We've heard it all before" are really good ones too
They did this song when I saw them on Saturday night (5/10/24) in Llandudno. Only Graham Gouldman from the original 4 but the show was not only superb it was probably one of the best I've seen for years. I first saw them at Reading Festival in 1973 (?) and on several other occasions after that, the final time being in Cardiff on their 'How Dare You' tour. A great bunch of songwriters.
I have always loved 10cc...this is one of my fav tracks. Saw them in Glasgow Apollo c 1976... full house the balcony was LITERALLY bouncing during Rubber Bullets One Night in Paris was memorable for its stage show/lighting Great live show...I DID wonder tho...are they using prerecorded backing tracks at times? ...it was that good
Ha! I’m from Glasgow too & I remember being at so many brilliant concerts at the Apollo, Status Quo being one of the best as we were bouncing in the balcony as you recall. 10CC were beyond amazing. Every bit with the guitars; the pianos & drums were gold. Voices were wide ranging & brilliantly making use of each members’ voice
If you want to write a clever catchy "pop" tune then this is it. That said its probably one of the best songs of all time, yes lets not us all not forget.....
I'm dancing on the White House lawn Sipping tea by the Taj Mahal at dawn Hanging round the gardens of Babylon Minnie Mouse has got it all sewn up She gets more fan mail than the Pope She takes the mickey out of all my phobias Like signing cheques to ward off double pneumonia Life is a minestrone Served up with parmesan cheese Death is a cold Lasagne Suspended in deep freeze I'm leaning on the Tower of Pisa Had an eyeful of the tower in France I'm hanging round the gardens of Madison And the seat of learning And the flush of success Relieves a constipated mind I'm like a gourmet in a skid row diner A fitting menu for a dilettante Life is a minestrone Served up with parmesan cheese Death is a cold Lasagne Suspended in deep freeze Love is a fire of flaming brandy Upon a crepe suzette Let's get this romance cooking, honey But let us not forget Life is a minestrone Served up with parmesan cheese Death is a cold Lasagne Suspended in deep freeze Source: LyricFind Songwriters: E. I’m also a child of the 70’s, so vibrant a time for music, and this nutty song is such fun that I’ve put it down on paper, play it at my funeral folks! Not too soon, I hope. It won’t age and may make a few chuckle.
When I first heard this song on the radio I was suffering from food poisoning after a dodgy curry. Every time I hear it it brings back how awful I felt.
@@diggerthegroundhog8799 apparently the two of them were driving home listening to the car radio, Lol said to Eric 'did that radio dj just say life is a minestrone'? and the rest is history!

Still as great as ever, here at the close of 2023 😉😉
Wow wow wow simply brilliant

Great band, great song. 2024, still sounds as good as it was 1975.
does it?
brilliant song, brilliant band, ahead of their time
Soooo true, loved everything they did!!
Eric Stewart one of the great engineers and guitarists..... part of a ground-breaking group.
They were like a combination of the Beach Boys and the Beatles, with their own unique brilliance.
For me, the greatest band of the mid 70’s.
Brillant group. Best of thé 70s.
I’ve just rediscovered 10cc on RUclips, going to hunt down a best of album
ENJOY

Love this song, love 10CC
This brilliant music was my early teens and beyond, so many good memories! xxx
Handsome mr creme and mr stewart.
Such a talented clever band so superior to present day bands
JOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.......A NINE YEAR OLD IN 1975.........ahhhhhhhhhhhhHAPPY DAYS.........
10cc what a band and what a talent very good for the ears .
These guys were awesome
I'm dancing on the White House lawn
Sipping tea by the Taj Mahal at dawn
Hanging round the gardens of Babylon
Minnie Mouse has got it all sewn up
She gets more fan mail than the Pope
She takes the mickey out of all my phobias
Like signing cheques to ward off double pneumonia
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze
I'm leaning on the Tower of Pisa
Had an eyeful of the tower in France
I'm hanging round the gardens of Madison
And the seat of learning
And the flush of success
Relieves a constipated mind
I'm like a gourmet in a skid row diner
A fitting menu for a dilettante
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze
Love is a fire of flaming brandy
Upon a crepe suzette
Let's get this romance cooking, honey
But let us not forget
Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze

Klaus.
Met graham goldman a true gent I know he's the only original member but seen them live 2 sessions goosebumps fantastic at butlins
One of many classics. Such a great Band ❤
I wish they would re-form
the seat of learning and the flush of success etc etc just wonderful imagery / lyrics.
I’m also a child of the 70’s, so vibrant a time for music, and this nutty song is such fun that I’ve put it down on paper, play it at my funeral folks! Not too soon, I hope. It won’t age and may make a few chuckle.
Good very good spirit 👍
I adore this band💋
Going to see them on Sunday. It must be over 30 years since the last time
I'm seeing them this week just north of Philly. Big bucket list concert. Love them. ELO and 10 cc helped maintain my sanity through the '70s.
I bought the album in1975 on cassette played many times.
Those were the days miss them
These were the days ❤
pure genius
Four talented guys
Great band , never quite achieved the success they deserved
something of Steely Dan here? A UK equivalent?
My thoughts exactly.
Ten CC was a very good Band
It certainly is!
See how things /songs /tunes come around !!! I rember this ....Funny Life Ehh ?? XXX ❤️
Clever lyrics...'I'm leaning on the tower of Pisa had an Eiffel of the Tower in France'
Had an eyeful, actually
2024 ❤❤
Quite gud to have view!!!!!!!!!!!
Over 40 years later only now got the 'eyeful of the tower in France' 😂😂😂😂
“I’m like a gourmet in a skid row diner” -awesome
I listened to this song on an online radio station called Bad Song Radio all the time! 💃
I remember a hot summer in a grubby bedsit in SW London with a smelly biker Tony. Youngs bitter and the smell of "love". Glorious!
Wow shame they cut the song last few minutes…great song though
Guess what I am eating while listening to this song...
Funny lyrics 😂
What a great vocalist Lol Creme is, great tone. yet when he left 10cc and teamed up with Kevin Godly, he didn't sing lead vocals as much.
Wish they would reform for a 1 off like Glastonbury
I'm having minestrone soup this evening.
Class
Still sounds good in 2036
When I first heard this song on the radio I was suffering from food poisoning after a dodgy curry. Every time I hear it it brings back how awful I felt.
Life is a chicken balti,
Served up with saag paneer cheese
Death is a dupiaza,
Suspended in chick peas!
Ahh. Yes. I, see; I have given this very video a like before. Hhhhmmm.
Life is a cold lasagna, indeed.
I wonder how many keys this goes through. Maybe someone very musical on here could fill me in.
I like 10cc... but this song???
I think life is pasta
which pair wrote this one ?
stewart and Creme
Creme and Stewart which was not the normal pairing, but they switched things up to try new things.

anyone here from karen hausen? no? just me?
Hahaha me too
You need the original 4 , not silly versions of 10cc.
