I ordered two of these (2015 Tahoe and 2017 Impala) and they both came with adapter harnesses. Swapped each one in about 15 minutes, no more charging problems and I have a Note 8, wife has a Galaxy S8+.
I took my 17' Bolt apart today to find the exact problem. I researched it and i will order part # 13521065 and change the unit out myself. Amazing the most tech advanced car on the market has an outdated wireless charging port and no Homelink garage opener. I will report back if it works once I attempt the install. Thanks for this great video
Just did this on my 2016 Suburban and it worked great. Just FYI it was the same part number as well confirmed by my Chevy dealer. Not under warranty. Shaved the connector down and it fit very nicely
I found the part online for $92 plus shipping. Since I read where it might be covered under warranty, I called my dealership. They informed me that GM is NOT covering this under warranty. But just like you, I want things to WORK, so I ordered it.
Thanks for posting this, as well as the comment below with regard to the harness. Was able to pick up parts locally and swapped mine in less than 15 mins. 👍🏻

Anatel is the Brazilian FCC equivalent. The new module is made by LG Electronics, the old by Visteon Corporation!
I just did this exact thing (new module and shaved the harness groves) and it works great. In fact my iPhone X case doesn’t allow my phone to sit flush in the charging slot and it still charges fine.
abdulmohsen alghamdi the 2017’s and earlier aren’t compliant with the new iPhones. They won’t charge them. You need the charger from the 2018 vehicles to take advantage of that feature. Just like he says in the video $152 plus tax to order. New part fits right in place of the old one. Then you can either trim the plug so it fits or you can order the harness as well, cut both heads off and splice the new one in. The trimming option took me like 3 minutes and seemed easiest and cheapest option.
DO NOT start cutting up the OEM plug on the factory harness to make this work. When you order the wireless charging module for a 2018 (part #13521066) also order the matching wire harness out of a 2018 (part #84193710). The harness plugs into the back of the console, it's super easy to change and is way more functional.
Came here to say that this is great advice. Yes, way more functional and super easy to change. The only thing you have to do BESIDES pop the bottom of the console lid off, is pop off the back of the center console. But again, very easy and 4 screws. Link to video on how to do that here: ruclips.net/video/iytvdK7VoIo/видео.html
I ordered these exact parts, as I purchased a new iPhone Xs Max - and it wouldn't charge in my equipped 2016 Yukon SLT. it took 15 minutes in all, and works on the console even though the Max doesn't fit exactly flush on the charging pad. Kudos to Bryan! Many Thanks
Great video! I purchased GM part #84526978 for my 2016 Chev Suburban. It was $116 at the Chev dealership, and came with a pigtail adapter in case you don't want to trim the existing plug. This Gen 2 module works great charging my son's iPhone X and my iPhone 11 right through their cases.
Amazing advice!!! I purchased the part from ebay and it worked wonders. I didn’t even have to cut anything, I just smoothly guided the cord into. :) thanks so much.
It's my understanding that GM is now covering this under warranty. They will supply the new module, change the plug on the existing harness (wiring) to the correct plug for the new receptacle on the '18 module. Parts are limited as of right now, so it might take some time to get in. Go to, or call your local dealer to facilitate a work order for this.
Roland Yarrington, I went to dealership, they are researching, was there anything special you told them to get them to warranty this change out? I even called gmc and no response yet
I went to my dealership and they had no clue but said they would look into it. I then called GM and the representative I spoke to told me they would be implementing this to be covered under warranty asap. I relayed this to my dealer and they are ordering the parts and verifying it will be covered under warranty. They are going to call me when the part is in. That is all I know right now. (FYI- I have a '17 Sierra Duramax Denali)
So you mind telling us which dealership ? I just purchased a 2017 Suburban and have the same issue. My dealership doesn’t have a response and GM just said that iPhone 8 only works on 2018 model suburban. Thanks !
I spoke to my dealership today and they stated that GM makes a charging pad/adapter that is comparable with the older models that have wireless charging. I’ll update later with the part number. Also, they stated it would be around $480.00 with part and installation.
I made the conversion to the 2018 Qi charger (part number 13521066) and also replaced the connector with the Mouser 571-2035363-4 connector. It is the correct connector that plugs into the module. The charger works like a charm. I have an IPhone 8 and it charges wirelessly with no issues. Took me about 30 minutes but only because I was taking my time.
Is there any other information one would need to change out this part on a 2015 Cadillac Escalade? GM suggested the same fix with the same part number, but the console lid (and charger) is a slightly different size. Thanks for this great video.
When I did the first hack, the 2018 part was not clearly a fix yet, so I decided to try it as well when it was confirmed to be a viable option. I think either version is good. The advantage to the hack is obviously that it is free.
Im looking to rig these chargers into a custom console, does anybody have a wiring diagram for what the three wires are for, im looking to just wire them to a power and ground source for the pad to work
Very nice video cheddarnut. I am convinced I can do it myself. You were able to confirm the 2018 trucks had the same three wires? I agree with you on the warranty comment and I like stuff to work as designed too but I just dont want to create some electrical problem further up stream while under warranty. Because GM has handled this so poorly a guy could buy the short plug and if something goes wrong, put the old charger unit back in (with nothing being changed) and claim ignorance at the dealer. Obviously if you shave done the existing wiring clip they will see that.
Where can I buy that trim removal tool? I just bought a 2017 GMC Sierra and of course my iPhone 8s doesn’t charge so I’m going to be doing the swap too.
I don’t have the part number but there is contributor at gm-trucks.com named PGAMBOA who has created a short plug and play harness. It’s $25 which is a bit steep considering that the connector costs 71 cents. There is a detailed explanation about how to unpin the connector and change to the new one. It’s not that complicated. The explanation starts around page 16 of the thread.
Thanks very much for sharing this video, I have a 2017 cadillac xt5 platinum, and I am having the same problem with my wireless charging pad, I would really love a fix.
Counclor Counclot my 2017 xt5 use to charge the samsung note 8 of both mine and the wifes plus my galaxy s8 they had to do an update for the ingocenter as it kept going black. And since then the charger quit working. P.o.s. Cadillac told me forget about it. There is an updated item availble for it. At my cost
I just contacted both Chevy dealers in the City where the Silverado is made regarding my 2016 Tahoe. Neither dealer was familiar with this but Kelley Chevy is at least checking further for me. The dealer where I bought the Tahoe has offered to order the 2018 charger and install for about $200 but with no guarantees that it works. Let alone replacing under warranty. The dealers are saying call GM and GM is saying call the dealers. GM infotainment group has no clue or is playing dumb as well. Can someone please list a GM dealer and city where they have had this done? I too will pay to have the pad working.
Why would you pay to have it done when the step by step video is right here? Will never understand people with stupid questions; where do i get the part, can i have the dealer do it, how much is it? The part number is posted, go online, buy the part and follow the instructions on the video.....not that complicated
Just did this on my 2017 Sierra, worked great. The dealer had no problem ordering the 2018 part for me $240 CAD. The only additional thing i did was flip my charging mat around, my iPhone 8 charge doesn’t get interrupted when i do that. The charge speed is slowish and i’m not sure if its just the power being supplied to the module or the output of the module itself. I don’t have another wireless chatger to compare. Can anyone else comment on charge speed in a 2018 GMC without the mod?
I just bought and installed this new charger (2018 module) and it worked for a minute and now has stopped working. I got the lightning bolt on the dash and the green battery on my iPhone X and then a minute later I tried it again and I get the lightning bolt on the radio for 10-15 seconds and then it goes away. Before you go running out to buy this part it might be worth figuring out if this will work for you because it did not for me
how about other iphones that aren't as long? I know this charger is positioned more towards either the front or the back. what if you turn your phone around? Not upside down, but spin it 180?
Hello thanks for the new video. Would this work for a Chevy Impala 2016 please? I have an iPhone X as well, also if I was to go ahead and order this part and have someone install it. It the wireless charging faster is slower? Is it really worth going through with this please?
Hard to say on a car. I have only worked on the truck. Although the 2018 impala does seem to have the new charger. In your case I would start with the dealer and see if they can compare the parts.
A1 Credit thecheddarnut The 2018 Impala is not on the list of GM vehicles that is compatible with the new iPhone 8/X wireless charging. I have been to my Chevrolet dealership I bought my car from last February to see if they’ll swap the truck module into my 2017 Impala Premier. They’re researching it atm. The wireless charger in my vehicle is part number 23248791, not the same part as from your Yukon. That being said, I talked to the parts department and there were two different modules used in the 2017 Impala, one of which was your 2017 module (part number 84162497) , the other is the one installed in my car (part number 23248791). The 2017 Silverado shares the same wireless charger as your Yukon for 2017 and 2018 respectively), and I’m trying use that as a basis as my request to have my cars wireless module updated under warranty. I’ll update when I get more info.
Has anyone else got their dealer to do this under warranty like previous comment States?? Also has anyone else noticed the new overhead console in 2018s has a bigger area for your sunglasses storage? Anyone ever see if they are interchangeable with a 2017?
There is now a Retrofit Kit available for 2015-2017 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban and Escalade by BrandMotion. www.brandmotion.com/gm-wireless-charger-retrofit-fdmc-1275.html
So the parts so far are as follows: Module: GM 13521066 Male Harness Connector for Module: Mouser 571-2035363-3 Female Harness Adapter out of old Module: ??? Does anyone know that part so a plug and play harness adapter could be made instead of destroying either the old module or factory plug connector?
As far as I have seen and people have commented it works in the GMC and Chevy trucks...If the charger is in the center console theoretically it should work. keep in mind there is a chance a good dealer will swap the module for a 2018 , so check that as well.
therazor2911 I doubt any dealer would change it for you. They would have to either trim the existing plug or get the correct plug from Mouser (highly unlikely) to make the change. Do it yourself, it’s fairly easy.

thecheddarnut im in Saudi Arabia, i think the warranty will not cover the wireless charging, by the way if you can send any company website so i can order this part.
Currently I believe the part is only ordered through actual GMC/Chevy dealers. In my experience if you contact one via telephone, ask for the parts department. Most will sell you a part and ship it anywhere, just pop on the GMC website and pick a dealer. I have not seen the part listed anywhere online since it is a 2018 and still in production. It will take a while for the part to appear online.
Good stuff! I could not believe I could not use my brand new iPhone 8 with my 2017 GMC Yukon.THANK YOU!

Merry Christmas! I will be visiting my dealership on Tuesday then! Good luck with your truck, mine just turned 1,000 miles old.
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you as well. I got mine in June and only have 1350 miles. I don't drive it nearly enough.

It's a shame that slot is built for a micro phone and not a regular sized 2020+ phone. I wonder if popping out that silver piece would make it work.

no need, just trim a couple of plastic ribs on the existing factory connector. pins are the exact same.
Does anyone know the part# for a 2018 Escalade?
So the parts so far are as follows:
Module: GM 13521066
Male Harness Connector for Module: Mouser 571-2035363-3
Female Harness Adapter out of old Module: ???
Does anyone know that part so a plug and play harness adapter could be made instead of destroying either the old module or factory plug connector?
Does this part number also fit a Tahoe 2016?
Seems like this crap would be covered in the Warranty. My Buddy has a 2016 HD and the wireless charger has never worked. Wtf
The part has been discontinued. If your search, you can still find it, but it has been discontinued. Is your's still working?
Mine worked for 3-4 months but has stopped working once the temperature got into the 90s

The 2018 part number for GMC is 13521066

You can purchase from a GMC or Chevrolet dealer, if your truck is new, ask about a warranty swap, someone posted earlier about that maybe.
