Hi Mel, thanks for your insight and sharing your knowledge. You've really made me think about yarn substitution. I generally purchase the yarn recommended in patterns simply because I want the fabric to look as it does in the pic. I have (numerous times) not purchase yarn because of the quantities needed for larger sizes. So good to hear your theories on how to use stash to substitute yarn. Brilliant actually. You voice what I've been thinking. I'm learning so much from you. 🎉

OMG. I'm working on the Nostalgic Sweater Coat with Peace Fleece, and I can't wait to be done done done with this yarn. While it's not causing hand pain, it's definitely not making my hands happy. It might be the gauge, or the fact that this yarn doesn't seem very elastic. It's very difficult for me to tension, as it wants to grab the skin of my fingers. I'm not even charmed with the resulting coat so far (sleeves and pockets need to be done), or the fabric that's resulting. The pattern is very oversized. I knit up a swatch to see how much it will felt down, tossed it in the washer and dryer, and my plan is to get through working with this annoying yarn and felt it down to jacket size.

Found your podcasts and love all the helpful tips and little tricks you share. Also thank you for the really clear explanations you give for alterations you make and the reasons why because it has given me more than 1 eureka moment about my own projects. I am glad I found your channel and am definitely subscribed now. It is really refreshing to hear your views on the amounts of yarn required per project too... Interesting topic that's rarely discussed.

Your projects are stunning, especially the Kate Davies cardi and the Sari Nordland pullover. Again I appreciate how you explain your making and decisions behind each knit.

Love the explanations of where your difficulties and joys are in your projects. Amy Palko recommended your podcast and I came right over when I saw that on hers. Hello.

Hi Melissa! I recently discovered your channel. This video just made me realize the whole "hold 2 strands together" thing is totally a marketing scheme 🙃. Kind of makes me think about how they make tampons not as absorbent so you have to use more 😂 Hope work is less hectic for you in March! Hang in there!!

I'm dying about the tampon comment - hilarious and so true! Thanks for the encouragement Lynne :-)

same applies to cosmetics - "use this awful sponge to apply the make up" lol sure, sponge sucks up 2/3 of your make up and you end up buying more of it more often. use fingers, ladies ;)

Binging your channel right now :) Love it!
Maybe you did this in the later videos I have not seen yet, but I would recommend you use the continental for colorwork but in the style where you do not stretch your finger. Just lay your fingers/hand relaxed on your knitting and pick the yarn. This way you can pick 2-3 colors from your finger without them getting mixed up and even catch your floats in a convenient and relaxed manner. Also, if you make eastern purling your standard purling, you will easily purl in 2 colors by picking both from your finger ;) Key point here is not stretching your finger when you knit continental.

I really enjoy your content! I just find the brightness a little uncomfortable. Maybe later videos will be better 😊

Yo, I think I'm feeling the same way re: cast-onitis. I finished three projects last month and never before in my life has this happened, but I have three full-size sweaters on the needles!? I love the projects you're working on, and no presh, but can't wait to see them finished! Thanks for hanging dude!

Thanks Mckenzie!! Something about finishing things makes me feel like casting on a bazillion others. I'd love to only have one or two projects at a time but somehow that never happens lol

I love the sweater you're wearing! I think I just saw this on ravelry :) Same here, I knit during zoom meetings where I'm not an active participant in. I would have detested these during pre-covid times but am looking forward to those nowadays now that I've found a new hobby in knitting.

Absolutely - I can't imagine how bored non-knitters are on the heavy zoom meeting days!

Thanks Megan! I’ve never tried a crochet bobble but I’m putting that on my list of new techniques to explore 😊

just found you from a shout out on Knittingthestash. as a 4X-5X person i totally agree that the number of little 50-100gm balls is too daunting to be a reality. so i buy bagged yarns from Little Knits at a fraction of the cost. its not ideal but if i want a beautiful wool i dont have much of a choice unless i want every thing to cost over $250! of course there is acrylic- but i dont choose it for clothing since it will pill too much and not worth the effort. best for afghans. thanks for your awareness.
