  • This is now the first known Bill Kenny feature on record! Bill Kenny sings the ballad "Empty Saddles" from Home On The Range circa 1937 from a broadcast of NBC's "Good Time Society" radio broadcast. Kenny is most likely backed by The Ink Spots.

Austin, thank you so much for your dedication to Bill Kenny and his musical group. My most beloved songs have been transcribed by you, so i am forever grateful for your channel and your work. You have "immortalized" so much of Bill Kenny's work, and i cannot thank you enough.

Hell yeah! Kenny sounds absolutely amazing at this point. Still mind-blowing to met that Morton Downey was his biggest inspiration. Do you have the full date of this one? Are You gonna post the full transcription at some point?

Hey Austin, i just wanted to know what your favorite ink spots clone is? My personal favorite is jimm nabbies ink spots (despite how admittedly scummy they were)

    • @AustinCasey
      @AustinCasey  11 месяцев назад +1

Interesting choice! They might be my least favorite tbh lol Thats such a good but tough question. Every group was so entirely different. I love Fuquas groups but I consider that a spin off group more than imposters or clones. I've always loved Mackeys group with Orlando Roberson and Essex Scott. Charlie Owen's first group with Stan Morgan was great too because they also really stayed within the style. Then there's more obscure groups like Arthur Rands Ink Spots and Stanley Morgan's first group who recorded like 1 single each that I really like. I've never been much of a Lorenzo Conyers fan but the record he did "You Cant Hurt Me Anymore" with Fuqua was fantastic. I could talk about these groups for days. Maybe I'll make a video someday. I'm curious why you like Nabbies group so much. What recordings or videos do you like of them?

@@AustinCasey the last response i gave was sort of all over the place so I'm rewriting it to make it more concise and give more reasoning behind my choice.
I like jimm nabbies ink spots because they were very different from the ink spots musical and lyrical style, yet they had similar singing styles. As much as i enjoy the ink spots formula, it was refreshing to hear something new. And i also enjoy hearing other artists songs sung by the ink spots
So my favorite songs by jimm nabbies ink spots have to be
      "Sentimental reasons"
      ruclips.net/video/TVI1DH3YqBo/видео.htmlsi=znIkimE9JK62sgee
      "Before it's too late"
      ruclips.net/video/uuo-YQJ8GSM/видео.htmlsi=Z-5NAgPiArCwuTOv
And "the more i see you" as seen halfway through this video
      ruclips.net/video/jZ57ExOrN3E/видео.htmlsi=-7UUN10Dt6PXBWjj
This is also why i like lou raglands ink spots song "this magic moment"
      ruclips.net/video/i6RSQh_5yHM/видео.htmlsi=AEK7-qgKAtvcJBIT
Also i do think that you should make ink spots videos, because you seem to know the most about them. And if anyone would be fit to make such videos it would definitely be you!

Sadly, no. He had some speaking lines like in Mama Don't Allow, Your Feets Too Big and a few others but I've never found anything of him singing lead. He must've at some point though. If so I hope it was recorded and will come to light someday.
