The most AMAZING thing happened on our FIRST long sail
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 июл 2022
- It was the Queens Jubilee weekend here in the UK and with our engine fixed, it was time to head on our first 'longer' sail. We picked Polkeris in South Cornwall to head to due to the protection from the Easterly wind and quiet setting.
On the way, we were greeted by a pod of dolphins- we couldn't believe it! And despite a shackle holding the clew on the main sail coming off, with good friends, sea swims, fireworks and the peace that comes with waking up on anchor, it was an incredible trip.

About Us
We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.
However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.
We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit
#sailing #boatlife
I loved the part where Becka is just overflowing with excitement and fervour at seeing the Dolphins and saying "hi".
By now you know that dolphins swimming off your bow will never grow old. First times are super cool though. Squeal......priceless.
It was hands down one of my favourite moments to date, pure magic!
You've really nailed sailing and boat handling now and beyond us leaving comments, so i guess its time to just sit back and enjoy your blogs. One final comment is, with boats, there is never THE way to do anything, just do it your way, cos as ive mentioned before, no one knows your boat and her quirks better than you.
Thanks so much! Yes, we are trying to forget the idea that there is a right and wrong way and just do it our way!
Turn the engine off while in gear and the prop will not spin.( It doesn't have to be reverse, forward is just fine.) The reason it doesn't stop spinning when you put it in gear with the engine already stopped is that your gearbox uses hydraulic pressure developed by the engine turning in order to actually engage gear, so if the engine isn't running you can't engage gear. Just watch out when you go to start the engine next time - put the lever in neutral first so as the engine begins to start neutral will be engaged and you won't find yourself steaming over your anchor chain, other boats whatever...
You two make a great team, good luck in your new adventures.
That makes a lot of sense- we always thought it was a mechanical gearbox (due to the age of the boat) but i guess because the engine is new, it has a hydraulic one instead. Will try that. Thanks Robin!
@@TeuluTribe DON'T stop a Hydraulic gearbox in gear some makes can jam in gear and you can't get them back to Neutral. Find the instructions for the gearbox and read them first. Plus the fact that the hydraulics operate the clutches in the gearbox so need hydraulic pressure to keep the clutch engaged.
Its crazy how far you both have come… Were all proud of you both.
Thanks so much Dan 🥺 just figuring it all out!
You should fit a preventer to secure your booms from slapping backwards and forewords it will only save from damage
..what Darren just said
Love how excited you got seeing the dolphins. 😃 Amazing creatures.
They were so incredible!
Its lovely how many expressions and how much emotion you show. From the look when you turn off your engine through out the rest of the video. Its completely obvious just how much you love this. Your such an endearing soul.
"It was on the verge of death and I saved it!" LMBO, Bee Whisper.
Thanks David- we really, really love this and we have so many exciting times to come! Haha i am the bee whisperer now! 😆
It's great to see you guys have genuine excitement for this, never lose it. Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks so much Marcus! Glad you can be with us on this journey 😊
Hi Rebecca and Zach, First and foremost. " What an inspiration you are "
I watch all kinds of things on RUclips and like you, I have a passion for the great outdoors. However , I don't sail but have always been fascinated by what sailing and boat life is all about. I came across your channel by chance the other day as it was recommended by the RUclips robots and I just had to share a comment.
I am lost for words with how you have become such competent mariners from a what appears to have have been a pipe dream idea. It's an incredible journey to date and I wish you all the very best for the future.
Regards Darren..
What a lovely comment. Thanks so much for following along and joining our journey, a lot has changed since this time last year!
Excellent video content🥇🥇🥇🔥🔥
Your delight is infectious. :) Awesome! I've only just purcahed my first 40' yacht too, so I'm sucking down your videos in prep. Brilliant! I can't wait! :) Regarding the jib (genoa) on a running leg - you'll need a whisker pole to affect that manoeuvre. :)
We got one about 7 months ago now, it’s invaluable to us! Hopefully we’ll see you out on the water at some point. Fair winds 😊
@@TeuluTribe Thank you, and to you as well. :)
Just a peace of advice, I bring this up because you haven't posted a video of it and feel it's very important lesson for you guys to practice. And that is "MOB" man overboard.
Both of you need to practice being able to turn the boat around at the most inconvenient time ( all by yourself ) and learn an automatic response to the situation, tossing a life ring, pressing the MOB button on your charter plot or GPS if you have one, and keeping an eye on the person who fell overboard, plus practicing getting that person back onboard if they are hurt - many times people have been smacked in the head and knocked overboard when coming about and the boom bounces back. You can practice by one of you tossing a life ring overboard without telling the other and then you have to retrieve the ring all by yourself.
Until you feel confident you can do that you should always be tethered, but really you should be tethered anytime you leave the cockpit. Just my 2 cents worth. Be safe and have fun.
Yessiree…This safety practice is often ignored…It’s best to learn early on & practiced
Thanks for the advice! We practiced this heavily on our day skippers but have been meaning to brush up on it for a while on Teulu. Its probably one of the next 'sailing' vids you will see 😊
@@TeuluTribe Cool - and practicing in calm flat seas don't count 😊
Hi guys, I am amazed, you have managed to capture the emotions of learning to sail. Unless you have experienced it first hand, it's difficult to comprehend. Enjoy
So glad the emotions can be conveyed! Its so lovely to hear you can experience it with us 😊
The engine turning off is also our favourite thing, go you xxx
Its just the best feeling isn't it!
"Look at that thing" 🤣 love your expression as you reversed out of your berth, Brilliant 😂 I wouldn't have been quite that polite 🤭 🤣
Haha its huggee!!
Rule no. 1 of sailing, if you don't want to lose it, tie it on. So Becka, get a nice glasses string for those cool white shades you are wearing.
I actually have one somewhere but need to dig it out and use it!
Flocking Awesome !
It was so cool!!
Becka, all I need to know about the character of a man or woman is how they treat those less fortunate than them. Like with you and that honey bee. I bet you and Zach would be great care takers of a puppy dog too! But I understand not having one because of limitations of boat life😁
We would love a dog one day, we would just feel bad about taking it on longer passages.
To stop the flapping you can rig up two preventers for your mainsail and mizzen. They can be a line running from a winch to a stanchion base or a pad eye and to the leeward side of the boom. The sheet then is pulled on against this line so the boom stops banging. It’s just mimicking the wind pressure on the sail, You can buy expensive purpose built preventers too. I wouldn’t but look the. Up and learn what they do.
Thanks Chris- will do this next time. It makes perfect sense, we did try and tie a line from the end of the boom to a stanchion but will go for a cleat next time. 😊
@@TeuluTribe no problems. It’s best to have a line go through a pulley and back to a winch.
Hi guys glad to see you have found the magic that is the joy of to stop button for the engine. Every sailor I know is just the same. Guess that makes you real sailors now. As for your prop not stopping when you engage gear with the engine off it will very much depend on the gearbox you have. Some gearboxes like the TMP1200 are hydraulically operated and rely on oil pressure generated from the input drive of the engine to allow the gear selector to work. You need to find out what make and model of gearbox you have and then someone may be able to advise you. It may be that you need to fit a shaft beak if you want to stop the prop spinning while sailing. I see you have put your main sheet the right way but if you are having problems getting the sheet into the jammer then you should be able to adjust the angle of the jammer. there should be a pin through the block that allows you to alter it.
Hi John! That would make sense- looking at the manual, i think we could either have TM-93 or TM-345 which would make it hydraulic. Whats a shaft beak? 😊 will adjust the angle of the jammer- thanks for the advice!
@@TeuluTribe sorry that should have said shaft brake.
Loved this, Vet Becka and Fisherman Zach 🤣🤣
Haha yup! 🤣
You need to add a preventor line on the boom when sailing downwind. This Dixie’s the boom so it can’t move. Also stope an accidental jibe😊
We now have an adjustable one 😊
Another beautiful relaxing video and i am so glad the Dolphins paid you both a vist. Looking forward to the next episode much love to both of you
Glad you liked it Peter 😊 Hope you have a great week!
The thing I loved about sailing was the silense ove the wind ...just the wind🤙🙏😀
We love that too 😁
Awesome. I was going to mention ‘preventers’ too as this will stop the booms slamming around in light airs.
Will give that a go next time, thanks Gavin!
The cleat on your mainsheet can be adjusted in two ways. The first is the angle of the cleat, which can be altered by removing a pin, rotating the cleat bracket and reinstalling the pin. The second involves removing the bracket that the cleat is on and flipping it so that the cleat is either on the top or the bottom. There are normally 3 screws or bolts that need to be remove from the centre of the block to allow that to happen. I'd suggest trying the cleat on top if the mainsheet keeps uncleating, although glad to see that the mainsheet is now the right way round! Also, when sailing dead downwind, use a preventer for the main and mizzen to stop them slapping, and if possible, pole out the genoa. You will go faster as well!
That’s so helpful. Thank you so much for your advice, we will go and adjust it now! 😊
Good Nz morning folks. I'm loving your channel. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I love how excited you get, with each new discovery. Dolphins never cease to amaze. No matter how many times, each time still gives you a buzz.
However, the biggest buzz you can have, I think, is when a whale surfaces. In fact it surfaced twice pretty close to us. Hopefully you folks can have that experience at some stage. With some searching, we ID it as a Brydes whale. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Keep them coming. Until next time. Take care.
So glad you are enjoying it Bryan 😊 The world and sailing and nature is just so great so we are so glad you can experience it all with us! Wow, i can't even imagine what seeing a whale would be like- maybe one day we will see one 😊 Thanks!!
Glad to see ya “Out & About”…Hoping yer Sails get fixed soon…Continue to Stay Safe & Enjoy😎
Thanks Steven! Shouldn't be too long now 😊
Love watching you guys at the beginning of your new adventure, I have virtually no sailing experience but im itching to get out there, and buy my own boat. Hopefully one day I’ll see you out there on a boat of my own.
Do it Darren! I was the same, watched videos of people sailing and ended up getting a little 20ft sailing yatch which I have been doing up and hopiong to launch very soon! I Cant wait :D
Ah you should 150% go for it. Very hard work but so, so worth it. See you on the water!
Thats so exciting Andrew! See you on the water too!
I hope so! My mooring will be further up the Tamar so will always pass yours! 😁
Don't wait Darren, or let people keep you from it! Live your dreams!! God bless you and your furry pal!
All sailors Love switching off the motor brings SILENCE IS GOLDEN a whole new meaning the nearest to experience is traveling on a horse drawn carriage beautiful Fair winds Marty Australia
Its just such a wonderful feeling!
Loving the videos guys, keep up the great work. I used to live in Weymouth down the coast from you and spent a lot of time on the water fishing. I have a little suggestion for you. Grab yourself a few diving lures with the treble hooks on, and get something to hold your rod so you can leave it, if that's what you choose, let enough line out, and set the drag accordingly. If you go over reef, be a good chance of a sea bass, they have even caught tuna over last few years around your area 😉. Anyhow tight lines and look forward to your next adventure.
Oh cool, Weymouth is lovely. We have some rod holders but will get some diving lures. Thanks so much!
@@TeuluTribe No problem, enjoy your lovely weather and boat repairs.
Oh just loving the wonders of the water!! 🥰🥰🥰
We really are Helen!! 💗💗
Excellent vlog, I absolutely loved it. Well done the pair of you, oh yes, nice bum Becka.
Thanks Michael 😊
Enjoyed greatly. Smiles all around.
So glad! 😊
Those drone shots really show the space you have availiable between the main and mizzen masts. A mizzen staysail, or even a fisherman (really a schooner's sail), would fill the gap nicely, and provide light airs drive. A hidden benefit of having more sail up in light airs is the reduction in rolling and slatting of the sails. Back in the day I've seen cruising boats rigged with double mainsheets, one to each side of the boat, so they can be tensioned against each other, as well as the boom- stops the endless slamming.
Don't trust shackles, especially snap shackles, and other similar patented gizmos too much. Take a look at what the Vendee/ORMA boats use- lots of lashings, dog-bones etc. Stronger, easier to make yourself, and oh so much cheaper! Snap shackles will shake themselves open in any sort of breeze. Never use one to climb the mast on- use knots!
Looked like a lovely trip. Wait til you disturb a snoozing basking shark, you'll scare the c^^^ out of each other!
We would love more sails! The bank account wouldn't love us if we bought them now but definitely in the future! Double mainsheets sound a really smart idea. We will definitely rig up a preventer next time- we kind of did at one point (just end of boom to a stanchion) but will take it to a cleat next time. Thanks so much for the advice!
Im really starting to like Monday!
We are glad David!
I was the exact same way when we saw dolphins on our very first sailing!! Such an incredible experience!
Great episode today;the music at the end was a good choice.
Thanks so much- glad you enjoyed it 😊
From watching the first video where you were "learning" how to sail to now is awesome! Love seeing the journey haha
We have definitely got a bit more confident haven't we!
Really appreacite you showing some of the realities of a first long sail, as not everything goes to plan, and it shows the difference with experience as your friends catch up with nearly 2 hours difference between you haha! I really do like your boat a lot! The layout is pretty nice. Looking back on this video now I bet you could have gotten far better speeds, with what you know now.
I was also surprised to see how heavy your boat was, at 22,000 lbs I figured you would be somewhere in the 15-18 tops! (the one i am looking at is 40,000 hahah so I have a feeling light winds will be... interesting)
@ 1:49 that's a German frigate, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_frigate_Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.. nice looking ship. AND sailors and dolphins love each other.
Cool! Thanks for the info!
Sail life suggested we join your journey!
Aw, Mads and Ava are great!
I'm so happy I found your channel, I have followed a few different sailing channels and it's something quite special when it's the "beginning" of the dream. Hopefully I will buy my first boat this fall, so inspired to follow your journey!
Aw, Emma! Thanks so much. You 100% have to go for it- its been the best decision of our lives 😊 Hopefully see you on the water one day!
You typically will not see male bees. The one you saw was a female worker bee. Boy bees only live to be fed by the female workers, and to find queens for mating. They die when after mating or when the girls decide they don't want to feed them anymore. Males are pretty much only around in spring/summer/early fall.
Prop spins because it had inertia from being in gear, then once in neutral it has freedom of movement continues to carry the momentum of spinning from being in gear, if you turned off in gear (never a good idea in case it could be started in gear by mistake) it would stop straight away
Makes sense- thanks Darren!
That looked so chill 👌
It was soo relaxing!
I don't know which has a higher pitch, Becka's squel when she saw the dolphins, or the sounds dolphins make
Have you considered using feathers or a squid jig for fishing when bobbing along at a sedate pace? If you're unsure how to use either any half decent tackle dealer would be happy to explain this to you. It's dead simple. Have fun the pair of you. David.
We have some mackerel feathers and a squid jig- we shuffled them around during the passage but nothing really worked 🤣 (we blame that fishing boat haha) Thanks David!
Thanks for taking us along on your sail - always lovely to see dolphins :-)! Have a look at your propshaft there may be some way to lock it and stop the prop from spinning whilst you're sailing sometimes there's a device on it, if you don't have a folding prop though it will generate more drag than letting it spin (but less noisy :-)!). Well done saving the bee :-)!
Noted the Volvo logo on the controls. Suggest they consult the manual for a recommendation as to whether the prop should spin and how the gear lever is to be set. If you need to hold the prop still a simple rolling hitch will do the job.
Thanks Tom! Its not a folding prop but will look into stopping it somehow 😊
We think the gearbox is a Technodrive either TM-93 or TM-345 so think its not stopping because its Hydraulic! However, will look into the rolling hitch- thanks!
@@TeuluTribe As Mark says do check the engine instructions, good luck!
Turn the pole over so you crank it the right way and then you can also use your thumb to slow things down with a fish on. Sure refreshing you two.
Thanks for the advice! 😊
should dip your ensign when passing a naval boat
So enjoyable!
So glad!! 😊
I love your honest excitement for sailing and everything that goes along with it, it’s refreshing during this time of all the negativity. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed and can share the excitement with us! 😊
wish i new as i live in falmouth i would have popped round
Aw thanks Richard!
An impressive number of costume changes.....😉
Haha the UK can never make up its mind with the weather!
That ship is the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern! It is a German Navy frigate
Just been looking up exactly that same thing.... Interesting fact: That frigate helped a lady they had rescued (they saved 700 migrants in the Med back in 2017) give birth to her baby son, on board, back in 2017. What it's doing in UK waters we know not! :)
@@damianhall4554 If the baby was given birth on board the ship, if Im not wrong, it can claim German citizenship.
Oh cool! Thanks for the identifcation!
Thats such a fun fact- thanks for sharing Damian!
@@senglrcmdr3384 That would be nice for Herr...
I'll grab my coat.
Mainsheet can be fixed by pulling the pin in the cam cleat pivot and rotating the bracket down some and putting the pin back in.
Will give that a go- thanks Pierre! 😊
Saving the bees.
Absolutley!
Hi Zach Becka, top vlog, do u have a code 0 or a spinnaker?. Also lithium battery bank?. Wow it's very exciting every time u see dolphins but ur first is awesome. What's wrong with the windless? Great to see ur both happy and well. I often do the same with our bees, because every animal, insect deserves life.💚💛💜🖤💙🇦🇺🌈
We don't have either of those sails but would love to buy them one day! Upgrading our batteries soon but going lead acid again due to the price. The windlass works- we just need to upgrade our batteries so Zach pulls it in by hand haha 💛
That was awesome reversing down the creek! No propwalk? The only boats i have seen that can do that have twin canted rudders. How do you do it?
Zack and Becka,
I finished watching all of your yacht videos, to date. The block and tackle between your main boom and traveler should be arranged back to the positioning that it was in when you bought the boat. As Zack has noticed, it is difficult to un-cleat the line for letting out the boom. This is because the angle needed to do so would require the line to be pulled from above the traveler at an angle steep enough to pull the line out of the cleats. Since your pulling position is not at the correct angle above the traveler, the cleat end needs to be next to the boom. The cleat for the mizzen is next to the mizzen traveler instead of the mast, because you are at the correct angle to free the line from it.
I hope that you understand that long explanation, it was difficult for me to keep up..Ha.. The point is, the cleat end of the block for the main should be attached to the main; the cleat end of the mizzen should be attached to the the traveler; simply said.
Cheers and Have Fun. Great job so far on the haul out.
Blue Skies.
Faithfully,
James
That does make sense- thanks James 😊 We need to add a longer main sheet if we put it back how it was because on a run, the end of line is all the way at the end of the boom meaning we can't cleat it at all!
@@TeuluTribe Then if that is the case, is the cleat angle adjustable. If it is, then you might try leaving the cleated block next to the traveler, but drop the cleat until the angle is perpendicular to the deck; or perhaps lower, if possible. This may take some trial and error, until you can find a sweet spot where you can easily lock the line in and/or release it. Keep me informed. It's great to see a young couple so ambitious.
Cheers and Blue Skies.
Faithfully,
James
@@TeuluTribe I meant to say, drop the cleat until it is horizontal to the deck.
Lucky Bee 🐝
i like what you do apart from the music mainly, but the boat is good
when people ask why did you buy a boat you can show them this vid, just dont mention the 10 other vids where you have your head upside down in the bilge :) - also as a pro tip, if you ever want to jump in the water, put out a long line (50m) behind the boat, its called a jesus line and can save your life if the current ends up being too strong when you get in.
Haha yes, exactly! Great idea about the line behind the boat, thanks!
Yeah just subscribed. You’re doing what I’d love to do but realistically couldn’t afford it in my time.
I had this dream in the early 1980’s. No internet or RUclips then, and no way to financially support it.
Boats are expensive….
But I’ve sailed a lot of the Chesapeake bay and lower Potomac here in the USA
I’m enjoying your videos as well as similarly themed RUclips channels.
Thanks so much! Hopefully you can vivaciously live through us through these vids! They really are a lot...especially when things break all the time 🤣
@@TeuluTribe oh yeah, understood. Boats are notorious money pits. It's all in how you prioritize life and how you want to live it.
Nice little trip there and bonus to see dolphins. Now you have the jammer on the traveller track you would probably find it easier to adjust if you remove the jammer part and turn it over so the cams are on top. It should be removable and you can also adjust the angle to best suit you. When you put engine in reverse did you depress the button? If so then you were still in neutral. If not then I’m not at all sure why the prop would still turn and that would indicate the engine is turning over as well which is highly unlikely. Do you have a whisker pole you could use to pole out the genoa when going down wind as that will help a lot and you should also rig up a preventer on the mainsail if the sea is a bit sloppy. A line from the end of the boom to a cleat on the bow usually works well. Good luck for the next trip. Andy UK
I suspect that I was responsible for pointing out the mainsheet issue, what you now have replicates the mizzen. Perhaps look at sheet jammers to lock off the main sheet. Superb photography!!
Oh cool, will look into that- thanks Andy! We didn't press the button in when going into forwards- we think its spinning because we have a hydraulic gearbox maybe. We need to get a whisker pole- its on the list and would ensure Zachs arm doesn't ache 🤣 will rig up a preventer next time, thanks! 😊
Thanks Roger!
@@TeuluTribe Ah hydraulic gearbox may be the reason. Might have to get a shaft brake or just live with it. A
You should be able to adjust the angle of the main sheet jaws to prevent it coming undone
We just found this out- thanks Chris!
Put a preventer line on the boom
Will do that next time, thanks Mike!
Love you sailing channel I have just binged all your videos I love your honesty in showing the reality of the sailing lifestyle. One day I hope to join you in my own boat once I get out of this "normal life". looking forwards to seeing what's in store for you guys. Have you ever considered further down the road to convert your engine to electric? if you are able to get sufficient solar/wind to supply your needs
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy the vids- you 1000% should get out the 'normal life' and go for it- its hard work but so, so rewarding. We have thought about it but there are a lot of things we need to do before then, but maybe one day!
Your boat is a Ketch rig? (Two Masts) Very nice.
It is 😊 thanks!
I've not sailed a ketch. Is it possible to fly a jib, genoa or even a spinnaker from the mizzen mast?
Yeah it is 😊
Love your discoveries of cruising life , pleas fix the windlass as when you have a windy day and you need to raise the anchor, you will need it…
Thanks Steve 😊 it works perfectly. We just had old batteries which we didn’t want to rely on. Have replaced these now
Lol, all good !, love your enthusiasm for new adventures. We have been cruising here in NZ for many years and it’s always a mix of challenges vs the sublime, but it’s always better than a day in the office… cheers
Well what a great video cannot believe how well your doing , is there no way to improve battery life ? Solar? Generator?just to make it a little more fun for you both mind you I bet it’s hysterical getting ready for bed by that million candle power phone beam lol 😂 keep up the good work keep having a ball and keep cool these next few days , we are lucky as like you I live on the coast my house over looks Bridlington bay over to flamborough head so when you sail found Britain let me know 😎😎
Haha there is! Batteries and solar- its all coming! Haha i know, we have been making it work but it will be soo much nicer to have power! oh that sounds like a perfect spot- plenty of dips in the sea when it gets too hot!
06:30 Have you thought about rigging a preventer line on your boom when sailing dead downwind?
We tied a line from the end of the boom to a stanchion but we should have gone forward to a cleat so will try that next time, thanks!
I’m sorry if I’m confused and yes I have been following your adventures, but didn’t you buy your lovely home in wales, so wasn’t your longest sail from wales to plymouth or am I missing a huge part of the story?
We lived in Swansea and got sailing experience there but bought the boat in Plymouth, Devon, where we are now 😊 It is a bit confusing!
If you were really sailing down wind you should had the boom MUCH farther out than what I saw -when in doubt, let it out
We couldn't let it out as it would slam really hard but will do next time with a preventer rigged up 😊
i bet it was awkward winding that fishing reel backwards , have the reel on top and wind it with your right hand
I think it’s just a British thing, but we shall give that a try.
what app do you use for the anchor alarm?
Putting your prop in gear only works if you have a mechanical gearbox, if you have an hydraulic box, it'll spin.
Think thats the case for ours 😊
Hi guys. Is it a saildrive you have, or gearbox and shaft (most likely I guess)? Any idea on the gearbox model? Strange the prop doesn't stop spinning in reverse, but the advice on correct action under sail differs by gearbox and manufacturer....also presume it's a fixed prop, not folding/feathering?
Its a gearbox and shaft- i think maybe Technodrive (hydraullic)- but thats just a guess from looking at the manual as there is also a bit about mechanical gearboxes so i am not sure! Will research more! The prop is fixed 😊
I love when you are not in a rush and 2 knots is totally fine. Why Rush
Exactly Keith!
Nice Autopilot at 5:28, Who can i buy one?😊
Haha its not always that reliable 🤣
The amazing thing was dolphins, just incase anyone is wondering
silly question, but if the queen died would you cry?
We just couldn't believe it!
😅
You need some motorised systems on the boat. Time to upgrade to make life easier.
We have a motorised winch, we just wanted to upgrade our batteries first which we have done now 😊
♥️♥️🥰🥰
🧿👍
All worker bees are “she,” not “he.” 😸
i have not seen a hot water bottle in 45 years ,when i left the U.K. and its awful weather. I suggest you figure out how to sail to the Bahamas and you will never go back.
Haha they were common occurances in our university house where we barely put the heating on all winter 🤣 we would love to go somewhere warmer!
:)
:)
buy some gloves when pulling the lines
Yep... If you have to haul a lot of chain as well and your physically unable for some reason.
Look up synching the anchor .
Basically a length of rope a hook on the one end you can
Hook or tie to the anchor chain ...then run it back to a power winch at the back of the boat.. you can hall in that length of chain using the winch...you will have to stow the chain for each synch haul but it will allow
You to lift a heavy anchor and chain if you cannot risk it hand over hand.
Good idea, thanks! Zach always wears gloves when pulling up the anchor 😊
I’d suggest reaching out to battleborn batteries for lithium! have a partnership scheme, you’re an up and coming channel and just such lovey people you might get sponsored and get some discounted or even free batteries! And well done saving the bee! ❤️
Thanks so much! Ah, we have actually just bought our batteries, otherwise we would have 😊
Put your engine in gear, the prop wount spin.
