Thatcher was a high handed, mean-spirited, and belligerent individual who peddled an demented political and economical ideology of cutting taxes for the rich, cutting government assistance for the poor, and cutting regulations for the banks and corporate businesses, in the misguided and obsessed belief that it would lead to economic growth.
Instead, it has caused high public debt, extreme poverty, and wage inequality, which the UK is still struggling with today.

Decline since 2008 I’d say. Since the Great Recession we haven’t really recovered and now real free speech is under threat. Too much of a Nanny State now and everyone looks miserable in the streets.

Yes, the classic diversionary tactic of populist conservative politics: turn the uneducated broader population's attention against immigrants and other nations while quietly allowing the super-rich to gain power over everyone and everything.
Much as I hated her (I’m from the North of England in an ex-mining town) even I preferred living in the Thatcherite 80s compared to the New Labour era and everything that came after.
