NILE's Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka was monumental when it was released. It was straight up American Underground Grinding Death Metal with dark keyboards, on par with anything else released in the late 90s. 😈 Too bad the band never released anything as great after that point…

The song Barra Edinazzu has an old TERRORIZER/NAPALM DEATH type riff at 45 seconds that morphs into one of the best Death Metal rhythms I've ever heard 20 seconds later. The band traded in that insane innovation for technical riffs that aren't nearly as engaging.

Every Death Metal Vocalist has tried to outdo Chris Barnes, and get more offensive than Butchered At Birth. Carcass didn't preach the Gore, they just relayed the message. In the same way Black Sabbath spoke of Daemons, but Venom was the first to be In League With Satan. Coven and Black Widow were evil, but not Metal bands.

Ive been an absu fan since i was 13 and very excited to see them at hells heroes. I think he ended absu because he didnt want fake fans from the lgbtq community showing up to their shows and pretending to be fans and that taking away the focus away from the music.

The Hell's Heroes' "Absu" includes the "new" guy and Archon from Zemial, which is the same live lineup as the current version. Since Shaftiel and Equitant--the founding members and songwriters--and Chris Gamble aren't involved, it's not really anything special.
