  • Hyke and Byke 0°F, 800fp, Long/Wide, Sleeping Bag Review
About $200 on Amazon with fast shipping. Sounds great! But it's not perfect. Find out why I decided it's not right for me. This is the Long version because it comes wider than the regular length. This bag is 66 inches around at the shoulders. 800 fill power down insulation.

I have this bag. Very nice bag for the price. Kept me warm and comfortable in 40-45 degree nights in June, in glacier National park.

I understand what you are saying. I have a Snowmass and a Shavano. Best bags that I’ve had size wise at 6ft 2, wide shoulders and uk size 12 feet. Don’t find the shuffling an issue if you don’t draw in the top and wear a hat instead and keep the bag the right way up. Nice review

I bought a North Face inferno -40 bag for $1000. The first night the crappy zipper broke. Im former US army ranger so I lived for years in sleeping bags.

I picked up this bag on eBay for a great price. I actually really like it and I also like the fact that the there isn't much insulation on the back. I sleep on my back so any insulation on the back is a waste because of my compressing it. I find it a waste of weigh with insulation on the back. I would recommend this back if you are a back sleeper. I also use this in my hammock at lot.

I'm no expert on this sleeping system. Your video just got me to look into more details of this particular brand/ model of sleeping bag. I had to find out why the bottom had a different fill than the top half.
I will be buying a down sleeping bag model from Hyke and Byke after doing some more research online to see which model will work best for me Thanks for the video! I'm a bit more knowledgeable than I was before watching it.
The bottom half of the sleeping bag is ClusterLoft synthetic filled. This is a hybrid sleeping bag for the weight and compressibility when packing the back in the stuff sack, also the price.
Down is not as effective when compressed by the body weight, the feathers would be compressed flat against the ground pad with very little air between the feathers to insulate well. Down insulation works best when loft, to trap lots of air between the feathers. The top half of this sleeping bag is down filled where the loft will be more effective to keep you warmer.
Thus the synthetic fill on the bottom half of the sleeping bag (more translucent than the top half down filled) ClusterLoft synthetic fill still works well at insulating the sleeping bag when insulation is compressed by the body weight.
IMHO the sleeping bag will work as rated, when you sleep on your side.

You are mistaken, the bottom fill is Synthetic material, not down. That's why it is thinner. That bag should be fine down to 15 degrees comfort and 0 survival with an insulated pad and a base layer on your body.

I have this problem I’m with my Quandary, there is little to no down in the back of the bag and it’s not very warm at all. I’m considering getting some down and filling the back so I can use it.

I've owned a hyke and byke sleeping bag for a little over 2 years now. First down sleeping bag I've ever owned and fell in love with the warmth. I noticed the back was clumpy from the down synthetic mix clumping so I washed it thinking you could just throw it in the washer and be done. Ended up ruining the loft and tearing most of the inner mesh so my down all in the wrong places. I would definitely buy another one just because of the width and price

There is little to no loft/ insulation when laying on a sleeping bag. However, they make a hammock bag which is totally insulated the entire circumference. I like Hyke and Byke a lot. I have the hammock 0 degree bag. I use a SEA TO SUMMIT comfort deluxe. I call it COMA SET UP.
