Hyke and Byke 0°F, 800fp, Long/Wide, Sleeping Bag , Watch before buying
Hyke and Byke 0°F, 800fp, Long/Wide, Sleeping Bag Review
About $200 on Amazon with fast shipping. Sounds great! But it's not perfect. Find out why I decided it's not right for me. This is the Long version because it comes wider than the regular length. This bag is 66 inches around at the shoulders. 800 fill power down insulation.

Hanging a DIY Air Cleaner from the Ceiling
Просмотров 6635 лет назад
I built a simple shop air cleaner last year to remove sawdust from the air. I built it for free from an old furnace and scrap hardboard. The unit works well, but takes up a lot of floor space. In this video I build a simple wooden frame and hang the unit from the ceiling. Last, I plug it in with a remote on/off switch I bought from Amazon (link below). Remote on/off switch: amzn.to/2PLYaRV “As ...
Day Hike with a Baby on the Appalachian Trail, AT
Просмотров 3606 лет назад
I took my baby, Eleanor, out on the trail. We drove to the Green Mountains of Vermont, about 3 hours from home. This was a day hike, first time taking Eleanor on the AT, or Appalachian Trail. I love this trail. It is about 2,200 miles long from Georgia to Maine. We had to fill up our water halfway through the day. We did this using the versa flow water filter. This worked so much better than my...
First Time Stick, Arc, Welding, fixing up old welder
Просмотров 27 тыс.6 лет назад
Update: I have disconnected the Neutral. I fumble around with the stick as this is my first time ever stick welding. I don't hide anything, my weld looks terrible. I bought a used welder on craigslist. In this video I clean it up a bit, swap out the power cord with a 4-prong. Then I fire it up for the first time. At least I was able to stick two pieces of metal together.
How To Plane Wide Boards With Router, DIY
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.6 лет назад
I demonstrate a technique I use to flatten (plane) wide boards. These 18 inch wide boards are too big to fit into my 10 inch planer. So instead, I'm using a router with a flush-cutting bit. I first learned this method from "The Wood Whisperer". My Website: www.davidpoz.com/projects My Sisters website: www.industrialblush.com/ Router Bit: amzn.to/2L5E4mO Milwaukee Router: amzn.to/2N35c2U “As an ...

TIP.. If you are a novice it is much easier to control the tip of a rod and strike an arc if you cut a few rods into 3 pieces.. Using a short rod makes it easier whilst getting the hang of things. THE WELDER - Good choice. Having seperate outlet sockets for the different ampages means that the machine has fewer moving parts. Selector knobs/switches can wear and burn out. Secondly, the 'movable shunt' system is not being used either where a large threaded shaft moves with a large adjustment knob an iron shunt in and out of the transformer varying the amount of magnetic flux and therefore the amount of current produced.. Its less efficient because the seperate connection system means the transformer is always working at maximum flux efficiency.. Also the shunt and shaft can also break and/or seize up with rust.

I picked up this bag on eBay for a great price. I actually really like it and I also like the fact that the there isn't much insulation on the back. I sleep on my back so any insulation on the back is a waste because of my compressing it. I find it a waste of weigh with insulation on the back. I would recommend this back if you are a back sleeper. I also use this in my hammock at lot.

I understand what you are saying. I have a Snowmass and a Shavano. Best bags that I’ve had size wise at 6ft 2, wide shoulders and uk size 12 feet. Don’t find the shuffling an issue if you don’t draw in the top and wear a hat instead and keep the bag the right way up. Nice review

    • @DavidPozEnergy

I recently did a large project with red oak and started getting burn marks. My solution was to switch bits. I used a 3/4" DIA bit first. Then I did a finish pass with the wide (2") bit. the smaller 3/4" bit was removing material better without bogging down the router. I was removing 1/8" at a time. Once I was 99% of the way there I switched to the large bit and the final finish pass was only about 1/32". That's what worked for me.

A few years late but I figured I'd save people the hassle of changing out cords. On something like this there's no reason to switch to a 4 wire cord, there is no need for a neutral since it's a 100% 230 volt device. If it had 120 volt accessories on it then it would make sense to switch to the 4 wire setup so you aren't sharing your neutral and ground which can pose safety concerns in some instances.

I've owned a hyke and byke sleeping bag for a little over 2 years now. First down sleeping bag I've ever owned and fell in love with the warmth. I noticed the back was clumpy from the down synthetic mix clumping so I washed it thinking you could just throw it in the washer and be done. Ended up ruining the loft and tearing most of the inner mesh so my down all in the wrong places. I would definitely buy another one just because of the width and price

There is little to no loft/ insulation when laying on a sleeping bag. However, they make a hammock bag which is totally insulated the entire circumference. I like Hyke and Byke a lot. I have the hammock 0 degree bag. I use a SEA TO SUMMIT comfort deluxe. I call it COMA SET UP.

I'm no expert on this sleeping system. Your video just got me to look into more details of this particular brand/ model of sleeping bag. I had to find out why the bottom had a different fill than the top half. I will be buying a down sleeping bag model from Hyke and Byke after doing some more research online to see which model will work best for me Thanks for the video! I'm a bit more knowledgeable than I was before watching it. The bottom half of the sleeping bag is ClusterLoft synthetic filled. This is a hybrid sleeping bag for the weight and compressibility when packing the back in the stuff sack, also the price. Down is not as effective when compressed by the body weight, the feathers would be compressed flat against the ground pad with very little air between the feathers to insulate well. Down insulation works best when loft, to trap lots of air between the feathers. The top half of this sleeping bag is down filled where the loft will be more effective to keep you warmer. Thus the synthetic fill on the bottom half of the sleeping bag (more translucent than the top half down filled) ClusterLoft synthetic fill still works well at insulating the sleeping bag when insulation is compressed by the body weight. IMHO the sleeping bag will work as rated, when you sleep on your side.

  • @triton189
    @triton189 3 года назад

You are mistaken, the bottom fill is Synthetic material, not down. That's why it is thinner. That bag should be fine down to 15 degrees comfort and 0 survival with an insulated pad and a base layer on your body.
