Machined the piston down to 3.85 grams, now it runs Great!!!
For free blueprints and drawings email me at; ralex397@hotmail.com
Thanks for watching!
To learn how to sharpen a graver go to Lindsay's web site;

Great info, thanks for the update.
Thank you!
Nice thanks for the video update. I assume that the end of the bore can be drilled and reamed from the current 6 mm to 6.32 in order to fit the GRS collets without too much difficulty as well.
As far as hose length is concerned another way to compensate for longer hose is to use a compressor with a larger cylinder volume.
With this modified compressor the displacement is .5496 Cubic inch. Yes if you had a larger compressor it could keep up with longer tubing.
Haven't tried reaming it up yet, I'll let you know how that goes.
Yes it can be reamed up to .250, but you can also buy the 5.9mm tool holders from AliExpress a lot cheaper than GRS holders.
@@ralex397 Yes that is true. But options are nice because some people don't wish to by more than absolutely necessary from China. Myself I have a lathe, mill and surface grinder so I dont have to buy anything from aliexpress
@@johnfurr8779 I hear you, I like to make my own, but not everyone can so I like giving them other options. Hard to beat the Chinese prices. I don't use aliexpress either. I buy from eBay. Everything in the ammo can is made in China, its hard to get around that. If I engraved for a living I would own a Lindsay system, but this homemade rig works great for what I need it for.
Hello, thank you for these great videos.
Can you specify how and where you found the 1.65 grams to be removed?
Did you turn and reduce the wall from the inside?
My English is bad and I'm not sure I understood it well.
I seem to have found the same Chinese copy on ebay, I could see that you changed the spring, is this essential?
The original is too stiff(strong ?), right?
Thank you for these responses
Good evening, I just found other videos that answer my questions! THANKS
One more comes to me, I don't think it's been discussed but not finding the same compressor as you, should we find one with a capacity comparable to the data you indicate in another video?
Or any portable 12v compressor will do.
THANKS
@@Valudespins any small "quality" 12 volt tire inflator should work, make sure it has a ball bearing on the shaft to the piston, that makes it much quieter, the real cheap ones have a bushing and they are very loud and vibrate.
Thank you for your reply.
I placed an order, it looks like yours with a few differences.
Do you have the diameter of the pneumatic hose that goes on this type of handpiece?@@ralex397
I use 1/4 inch OD .170 ID clear vinyl tubing @@Valudespins
Did you just modify the piston or did you leave in the smaller spring you used in the other video. Awesome info by the way. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You must modify the piston weight down to 3.5 to 4 grams and install a lighter spring at the back of the piston for this hand-piece to work with the Home Made Hand Engraving Machine. The clone hand-piece comes with a 9 gram piston and a heavy spring in front of the piston, to work with GRS clone machines.
so the machine you are using isnt a normal compressor?
it pulls the air in and out?
shouldnt it work with a normal compressor, with a pedal and a filter pressure?
In order for this type of hand-piece to work you must modify a small compressor/tire inflator. It will not run on regular compressed air.
@@ralex397 thanks
How to run this from a regular compressor? I bought one but it just go out...
It will not run off a regular compressor, a small compressor/tire inflator must be modified first for a homemade or modified clone hand-piece to work. Watch the videos they explain everything. I also offer free blueprints and drawings.
