Hey man, I really enjoy your videos. Maybe this a shot in the dark, but you should do a series (like you did with the keys) with Skinner. You both are from the northeast, fish Florida this time of the year, and have your products with J and H tackle. It would be cool to have two cameras going with various view points in similar locations.
That was amazing, I would love to catch some tarpon and a jack that big. Maybe on our next trip to Florida, still debating on moving to Southeast Florida or Eastern Tennessee in 2yrs.
Ahhhh. This video helped with my being depressed from being unable to fish UNTIL, the part where the BAIT you used to catch that Jack is BIGGER than most of the fish I catch. ~~SMDH~~
Yeah exactly, the wind picked up a little in the afternoon but was a pretty calm day. So the gnats were terrible hence the reason for the pants and long socks.
@@FishAholicTV Im always wearing long pants and long sleeves shirts for that reason when yaking .Learned my lesson up in long island with flying insects everywhere at sunrise. Pair it with a Boonie hat and no need for sun tan lotion either in that hot Florida sun "full protection"
Well done dude…this whole video. Great action on light tackle tarpon and getting that big o’l jack in the boat on light tackle was fantastic to watch. Very cool stuff.
I'm sure there's a lot of people who have the itch to get into tight lines, catch and release, that keeps the stocks UP and able to reproduce for the next generations , there's nothing like being hooked on fishing, and doing it safely, responsibly @ the blitz will be back.

Hey man , just an observation.. Are you aware that tarpon gulp air and are not always busting bait or feeding on the surface.. the use the air to help them control there positioning in the water column .. cool vid .. looks like fun as always..
Saw so many finicky snook today, in schools of mullet! Some were easily pushing 30-40 + lbs was a great outing no success other than a small jack and lost two blues. Great video though brotha those were some intense tarpon catches 🤙💪 tight lines y’all
Yeah they can be that way. The days we caught the two big Tarpon we had them busting around us all day and they would not even sniff a live mullet. Tight Lines Jacob 🤙🏻
Wait, on the description, it says the leader was braid, but the line was mono? Is that backwards? Tarpon are super spooky, so it would be wild if braid leader worked in daytime.
10lb on the lighter rod in the canal. Link in the description to the braid I was using. For the small tarpon you can use some light stuff believe it or not. At night I was using 20lb with a 60lb leader for medium size tarpon like 40 to 50” if you anticipate catching bigger I would use 40 or 50lb braid and a 100lb plus leader for night fishing with plugs. Bait fishing in the day is a different story for the bigger fish. Typically 50 or 60lb Fluoro and a circle hook with your bait.

Hey I have a question for everyone. Ive getting into saltwater recently and I’m not sure how to tie a leader line. I’m used to bass fishing where you tie directly to the main line. Do you need a swivel or some specific knot for the leader?
I use a Spro Swivel on the main line which is 10 lb mono Stren, then I use Flourocarbon line 20 lb test , about 2 feet to 3 feet or so. Then I tie on to that with a half ounce jig head. You might wonder why I use mono on my main line and not braid. Braid will eat the plastic up on your eyelets badly. I also like the feel of mono , I may not have instant hook sets , but I gain the flex of mono , provides a better feel to if the fish is nibbling or if he picks it up and carries it and I actually feel like I do not overset hooks and pull them away from the fish or out of the mouth often. Usually I pull back , I got a fish and it stays on. I fish mainly for speckled trout and they have paper mouths and will tear easily , drum are durable , can set on them easily without worry but the same baits are used for both. I use Gulp almost religiously , and a popping cork set up is always rigged up , if I'm in 4 foot of water , I use about 2 to 3 foot of flourocarbon under the cork with a jig head and gulp, work it like a popping bug. Its crazy effective.
Hey Brady, I would look up an Albright knot or double uni, and you can use a barrel swivel if you want to. Which in that case I would tie a Palomar Knot with the braid to the one side and a improve clinch or single uni knot to the other side.
Went to Key Largo last summer for the first time and hooked a tarpon on an artificial shrimp. I had the same thing happen it jumped right in my kayak lol
Hey rich how far down the keys would I have to go to get into some tarpon?? I live in Sarasota on the west coast of Florida but am thinking of driving down to get on some tarpon. Never caught one actually!!! And I live next right near anna maria island, the tarpon magnet in the spring and summer!!! Obviously you don't have to give away your location if ya don't want to. Another great video my man💪🤟🇺🇸🇺🇸
Key Largo to Key West all have Tarpon. Even up by me in Stuart there are Tarpon to be caught. You just have to know where to look. But going to the keys definitely increases your chances. Any bridge or channel in the keys at night typically will have Tarpon.
I'm stuck up in the North, ice fishing is all that's available, and I'm too old to freeze on the ice , 4 tilts, bucket of shiners, I wish I was 30 year's younger, but it seems like a long wait for those salt water fish to return, unless I get on a cod party boat, it's 20 ° and I enjoy watching your videos, it takes away from the boardum , and the 3 to 4 month WAIT # NARRAGANSETT BAY TO BLOCK ISLAND @ THEY WILL RETURN ..

They call them angel fish when there small like that. I never had a big one but caught plenty of those size when I stayed in Clearwater area 15 years ago escaping the long Island winter. All we did was cast a live shrimp and let it sink. Sea trout also would bite. Then sheepshead when those wouldn't bite. One evening a guy next to me caught a huge black drum in a canal just like that.
