I loved it when the rats died! They and Ciri deserved that.

I just read this part today and it chilled me how quickly and viciously they were dispatched and what happened to them after. Having Bonhart use a saw made me squirm. I kind of felt bad because of who they were to Ciri and the gruesome demise that fell on them. And the way they portrayed Bonhart was also really effective in making me go "damn. They'll finally meet their match"

honestly i felt weird reading this. I thought damn, this guy is strong, is he some kind of vampire? But i didn`t really feel bad when they died, they were murderers and thieves so i didnt feel bad at their deaths. Had it coming. its justice in a sense, if a horrible one. Geralt during his adventures killed a fuck ton of bandits like the rats so nothing felt out of place
Besides the fact that ciri was one of the bandits, so antagonizing bonhart for killing them is illogical. I will antagonize him for what comes after tho

Well, it's not completely antagonizing illogical. Remember, many readers were relating to Ciri and feeling for her. So, when this badass fish-eyed Bonhart effortlessly chops her "friends" into pieces and treats her like trash, readers cannot help themselves and antagonize him... Frankly, I don't blame them.

Currently reading Tower of Swallows. Just finished reading the part where Mistle dies. I too felt rather nonchalant about the deaths of the Rats until Ciri watched Mistle get kicked into the wall of a building and get to her near-death. I could tell there was love there and it felt rather gut-wrenching for me to read that. I didn't feel too much for the deaths of Giselher, Kayleigh and Reef as well as the others whose names I can't recall but Mistle's death really hit me. His revolting method of showing off Mistle's corpse to Ciri was a big reason for me to antagonize him; it was cruel and disrespectful. The greatest bandits in all the North, who even Bonhart sees them as such, slain without effort and slopped in piles of shit and mud, used as an irritant for the final Rat who found love among their ranks. Honestly hit really hard. I can't wait to keep reading this on my way to work tomorrow.

@@warlockceo1549 The Rats thought themselves to be the greatest bandits in the North, in reality they were common scum who killed, plundered and robbed as they pleased. Ciri did not find love among their ranks, she felt comfort after feeling she had been betrayed by all her friends.

The Rats were horrible people. The girl saved Ciri from being raped by one of the male members of the rats, only to rape Ciri herself. And yes, Ciri was young and didn't make a choice. Instead, she was taken advantage of by a woman, rather than a man.

Ciri in her state could handle all 6 with ease, she got weapon and know moves which noone of them could parry any of her attacks. So stfu about it being forced when she got everything needed to defend herself and to be honest crushed them with similar style as Bonhart. Ciri defend herself against Kayleigh while not even move a inch when Mistle try the luck, and way she doing it disturb people just because ciri is young(Her mother was younger than her when she have her way with Duny). Mistle wont do anything different than geralt who also never ask explicitly for consent(and he fuck 17 yo Shani also). Also later on is revealed by Gieselher they wont hurting females, and when ciri start crying from nightmare all 5 of them ganged on Mistle and Gieselher scolded her. Only one who really try forcing with her actually trying to reject is 16yo dumb kayleigh(and looking on later parts:if she shouted, entire hanza would probably point blades on kayleigh because we got two times where they wont touch any woman 1. when they ambushed daughter of baron of casadei where ciri is only one where ciri act worst and gieselher ensure duo they will not hurt them. 2. when they get to station on round, where also local family was not harmed). And to horrible people part Geralts group in books Geralt:Thief,Traitor, Deserter, and war criminal. Cahir:same as geralt. Regis:Vampire that eat in his young age more people than rats combined. Marigold:waste of word.... Milwa:Traitor of humanity responsible for countless fallen soldiers. Angoulem:Member of worst hansa in entire books interesting noone ever criticize them as much as rats

@@silverbladeofnorth7345Interesting perspective, but still doesn't absolve the Rats from their deeds. They take drugs (fisstech) and rob people. They finally met a skilled warrior who could overcome them. Its all easy when you rob merchants and such, but a bounty hunter who killed Witcher before, not so much. Theu got what they deserved and Ciri was lucky to be rid of them. Despite the suffering she went through afterwards, she got her sword before fighting in the arena.

My thought was “they gotta die …like a lot.” And from what I just read with the fight I was glad until the head sawing off that was a bit overkill

Netflix would have preferred a version of this story centered around the rats with the rats winning.
But that’s not what happened and this was an important part of the story.
