  • Hi this is Jeff Foxx,
I'm going to share with you some very rare audio, of an interview I had with Prince in the Late 90's. At that particular time he was still going by the name "The Artist", touring with Chaka Khan and Larry Graham in New York for a show at Madison Square Garden. Larry Graham was actually in studio as we made a phone call to Prince.

By far the sexiest man I have ever laid eyes on in my life. I even thought this when I was only 5 years old back in 1983! Everything about him!! His hair, eyes, mouth..(absolutely flawless!) His style, his soothing sexy voice..(singing and speaking). Not to mention his sheer raw talent!! There will never ever be another like him.

The Artist, The Royal Purple One; the list goes on! But, one thing that no one can or will ever be able to touch was his sexual magnetism that he exuded through his music, fashion, and his mysterious aura. Prince was an original, one of a kind, a mold that cannot be copied.

Prince you are were right. Those of us who remember Larry and Graham Central Station know he was one of the best. No one was like Prince, but he could surely hold his own on the bass. There are some people who are just the foundation of our music roots. They don't need to try and be "today". Everyone gets a few years of mega stardom and then they are old hat. The best remain timely in our hearts (nostalgic) for those who grew up in their time. RIP Prince.....you will always be timely for me!

As Nicole Richelle have commented already, from 1996 november till 2001, was the hardest , heartbroken , hell period for Him in his life. Till such extreme, that even not want to live. He received a very hard education all his childhood. with a ego maniac father, and a mother concentrated itself. For a prodigy child, able to understand the others automatically and adapt to others even being himself in every moment, it was really traumatic grow up in such rigid and hidebount environment. They also never understand him, so when he was 5,6,7,8,9,and 10 years old, they used to punished him physically and psychologically when the only thing he was showing is his desire to be himself and do the things in his own way. More they punished, more rebel he showed. He was deeply hurt. He didn't understand. And the idea of religion and God was omnipresent. Supposed the parents did this, thinking was the best for his education. But the effect on his emotional development was devastating. Especially the extreme ego of his parents. First them, after the rest. World never was turning about what Prince needed or was important, only on them. While the idea of true love for Prince was the opposite, give all to who you love, show them with ACTS not words how you love them, make them happy, and share everything. Do things for them. Adapt to them. And GOD was always the excuse for all . God was finally the alibi for parents behavior. So "God" was always in his mind. When 1996-2001 period happened, specially from end 1997, Mr Graham begin to be more closer to him, and it is not a coincidence. First he was a musician, second he grew up listening the group where he was playing, so for Prince, was a dependable person. But the most important thing is that the character of mr. graham in many ways is so so similar that Prince's father. Don't want to extend much more here, but if you like to know more, you can subscribe to our channel. We deactivate any option for adds or make money with advertising, so our channel it is not going to have anything with "likes" or visits, etc. Now is empty, but in some weeks we are going to post some videos explaining some things and truths with the only objective to save Prince's Vault. Surprise me that you and another people could say that. That means that you have a sensibility "more awake" than the rest. Your antenna is "awearing" of something really wrong about this dark soul, inside of you. . Even if you cant know the truth. You are able to feel it. "Mr, Graham, " was one of the worst thing Prince elected to pick up. Like a true and cold snake, among 3 more factors, pushed him to the end. They weakened him till he were helpless.

Glad to hear that it wasn't just me. I saw Mr. Graham as a master manipulator and user. Seems that once he was involved with Prince, he changed and not for the better. I know that Prince called him his mentor. Just how much influence did he have over Prince? Did he know that he was self medicating to that extent? Or was Prince expected to "hand his pain over to God, " and eschew medication? Also, the fact that Chaka Khan is in rehab for pain medication addiction and she was also someone Prince admired makes me question everything even more.

Prince was in need of someone when his world fell apart with Mayte & all the heartache & pain that went with it, Larry G. the manipulator creeped in when Prince was so vulnerable & totally did a 98 degree switch on Prince's head. Prince was more into it than Larry G., that is how they draw u in to their world, when u are in a state of mind that Prince was in, In my opinion I don't believe Larry G's intentions were sincere, I do believe he used Prince to his advantage 4 his aging going nowhere career, in the end I believe Prince somewhere along the way realized that on his own about Larry G, because Prince made a statement that his 3rd Eye Girl band was more family to him than anyone else including his blood family & I think he finally realized Larry G. was not who he thought he was in the end, so sad 4 a man who did so much 4 others in the end he ended up alone, & how do we really know 4 sure that Prince died in the elevator, we don't, miss & loVe U Prince 4Ever💜

What got me interested was a channel I follow here on YT of a guy called "Regis Tadeu", a music critic. When he was asked who he would consider genius musically, he said:
    - I don't consider The Beatles geniuses, for me A GENIUS is in a whole other level. Music geniuses for me are Prince and Frank Zappa.

I don't care for Larry Graham. No disrespect intended but I feel there was something missing and the relationship seemed superficial....on Larry Graham's part. It's like he knew Prince needed "family" and then there was Larry??? Not sure. Just seems odd. I felt this way even before Prince passed away. I think Larry Graham had bad intentions and took advantage of Prince being vulnerable and also used religion as a form of manipulation.

Sadly I had lost track of Prince over the years and never realized that he idolized Larry Graham that much he became a Jehovah Witness. Yea Larry was definitely a huge influence on him. but whatever gave Prince some peace, i'm happy about that as i always knew he was a deeply spiritual person but yea Larry a weird one not sure how genuine a friend he was to Prince he may have had his owen agenda but could be wrong. RIP Prince.

Read Mayta Garcia’s “The Most Beautiful”, it’s so wonderful and sad too! L Graham took advantage of Prince during the darkest days of his life after losing his son. Mayta was so young and broken herself. She truly loved Prince and Larry flat out told him, God was punishing him for the way his lifestyle had been and his wife who could see the hypnotic behavior from the group refused to drink the koolaid. She found herself pushed out while Manuela moved herself into the study group Jehovah Witness. Mayta was not being a subservient wife when she chose to go to the hospital after her second pregnancy ended and she needed a DNC. Had she have not gone she could have bled to death or at least not be able to get pregnant. She is a strong wonderful woman.

Indeed, they are the times. But no, we get all this with American Idol and all that, where it's fading stars trying to remain relevant but travel around with their DATS in the airport and all that.

Mr. Graham was NOT good for Prince. Prince was good for mr. graham. Mr. Graham used Prince as much as he could even though Prince trusted Mr. Graham which he should never have trusted Mr. Graham. Mr. Graham had lots to do with Mr. Prince's death. So did Judith Hill, Kirk Johnson and Tyka Nelson. All Prince needed were good people around him. Prince never found the good people to be around him. Hence: "Just when u thought u were save" came to Prince and it was toooooooooo late for Prince. They did him in.

Lapri B Sorry, but your comment is ridiculous. For one, how would you know? I am not sure about Tyla Nelson but Prince certainly had a lot of respect and love for Judith Hill and Larry Graham and as for Kirk Johnson, I am pretty sure he remained loyal to Prince as otherwise, Prince would have kicked him out years ago.

Sarcastically Deranged : to answer you short, we "think" thirdeyegirls knew so well what was the "situation" with Prince's "health". As well I.g, and some others friends, and of course, those who were close last 4 years working with him...Now anyone knew nothing. Refering to Graham, just tell you something so you can have an idea who really is this guy. Music journalist from all the world were thunderstruck and aghast when in a informal press conference on Montreux Jazz Festival, Mr. Larry Graham suddenly monopolized all the conversation or questions, and began to speak about himself, telling everyone once and again, that he was the one who invented slapping technique, and he was the best bass in world, and some others things... Prince don't say a word, with a nice smile, let him monopolize all, and gave all the protagonist to him. But journalist didn't want to hear Mr. Graham more than one minute, we weren't interested at all at him. Once finished press conference, the private comments and talk between us was that something really wrong was with this guy. And how one supposed religious man and supposed J.witness, can act and be like this, absolutely lack of modesty, arrogant, jealous, etc...... Shocking even for us, was Prince's reaction. Submission on him mixed with some kind of disillusion, and little fear. the disillusion was complete, 3 years ago. And the influence of j.witness on Prince we think was one of the worst influences among others, with fatal consequences, we are going to explain why, in the future.

I don't believe that Prince abused drugs. I always felt he missed a real family unit. I love how prince was always so positive the way he spoke. I miss him as many others do and I hope there is a beautiful book about him since he didn't get his memoire penned.

Maybe you need to understand more about that era. Larry Graham played in Sly Stone's band for the most part. He released some solo albums, but he had a huge band to pay. In those days, unless you got publishing royalties, most of the money earned was put back out into the tour. Plane tickets, hotel bills, meals, etc. Most musicians were not good at managing the money and playing the gigs at the same time, so they were often ripped off by promoters and anyone else who could get their hands on the cash to steal it. No doubt Larry Graham struggled until Prince came along and plucked him from obscurity. Suddenly Larry had huge gigs to play in front of thousands of people again. He had an income. He had a wardrobe person. Etc. It has been literally decades of scuffling to pay bills until Prince showed up and made Larry a well-known and working musician again. Think about it. No wonder Larry said he invented slap bass...because he did. Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, Louis Johnson [of Brothers Johnson] all influenced one another's bass style and each claims to have invented slap bass. But these guys all did it at the same time so it's hard to make a call as to who was first. They are all brilliant. But bass players were never "stars" in those days. People can say Larry's encouragement of Prince to practice the Jehovah's Witness religion was bad or good. However, Prince was and had been one of the biggest stars on Earth for years, as well as very wealthy. Do people think Larry Graham was going to tell Prince what to do? This is very doubtful.
