Great video and tips. I purchased the same case and added the laptop arm. I am working on adding the XLR/powercon to the front U panel. It cuts down on so much set up and breakdown time.
I really love the idea of having a floating arm for your laptop... But unless, your laptop is attached to it or strap to it somehow I'm too paranoid of it being knocked off inadvertently
I understand your fear. I had the same thought and once you try this type of configuration, I think it eliminates the fear because any laptop is gonna have enough heft, and as long as it has rubber feet. The weight plus the friction will prevent it from sliding off.I have gotten a little crazy and pushed my laptop close to falling off, but that was just me getting a little too excited. Ha ha.
Great set up! Thank you for sharing. How exactly did you extend antennas for wireless mics so there are no drop outs, what cables or equipment, connections needed.
Where did you get the replacement colored EQ knobs? Love that idea! I found myself grabbing the color fx instead of the lows when I upgraded from the DDJ-400. Even now, I still find myself grabbing the color fx from time to time. With the new 3-band waveform, this would be error-proofing the mix. Lol!
I'm thinking about getting a 1000SRT, and like how your case is set up. One thing though, how much does the case weigh with all those components in the case? 🤔
Hey Kevin. Great channel. You make some great content and have some awesome ideas. Could you do a video or tutorial of the mydmx go and how you create scenes or maybe just a general review of it? Thanks
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures Thanks so much. I’ve had the mydmx go for awhile and I love it when it works lol. I just have a bunch of connection issues mostly. I actually sat down and dove into the software this past weekend. It’s actually a very powerful app and can definitely be a useful, easy to use tool for mobile DJs Thanks again Kevin. Look forward to seeing more from you.
Hi! Your videos are amazing! I was wondering if you can give some guidance on modding the case as I am just starting my DJ journey. I am waiting on my DDJ 1000SRT but got my Pro X case with the gliding platform. I don’t really want to drill into the case so I wanted to know what my other options could be? I’ve seen panels at the front with the connectors. Not sure if those are custom or you can purchase them? I also saw that your wireless mic receiver is there. Are you using Velcro to keep all those things under the controller stationary? If so, what kind do you use? As far as power goes, how many power strips do you have on hand? Is the one that you have under the controller connected to that orange one that’s on the outside of the case (I forgot the name)? Is that necessary? Also the antennas that you installed. Are those connected to the Shure receiver or you attached to the interior of the case? I apologize for so many questions 😅. I really like your build. I’m just trying to understand so I know what I need and how. Much appreciated!
Hey thanks. Let me try a couple answers for you: pre-set custom panels are an option BUT require some sort of installation, and you'd have to drill or cut into the case anyway. I've seen them made by NLFX but would again would require cutting. I'd recommend either jumping in and trying it yourself - start with scrap wood, then when you're drilling your case -- "measure twice cut once", start with a pilot drill bit, etc. etc. OR just get a friend who knows tools and woodworking to help you. We're DJ's -- our job require us to take small risks! :) :)
Hey! I’ve thought about that but decided to stay with a laptop configuration for a couple reasons. It gives me lots of versatility as a mobile DJ- just for example, I could stop Rekordbox and start up something like Karafun to do a quick karaoke set, then bounce over to Spotify to stream something like an odd Irish folk dancing set , then get back into rekordbox. A silly example but illustrates the flexibility I have to handle anything
Hey thanks!! It really has worked well, increased the fun of me DJ’ing, and as I mention in the video- it’s a nice little backup. I actually had to use it one time this summer for a few minutes because I was playing a house party, and the homeowner attached a few heating plates to the same circuit as my gear - popped the breaker. I was able to keep the music going for the guests in the yard while we removed the plates and reset the breaker! (Of course it didn’t sound great but it was good from continuity standpoint)
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures Thanks for making the video. I was using QSC k8 for booth monitor. Your setup of tiny Bluetooth speaker makes it so easy. I can use it to practice DJing as well.
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures thanks I appreciate it. Please keep doing more videos, I have a ddj 1000 srt . I like how you upgraded the controller case that’s awesome, happy holidays
I bought the beats pill after hearing you explain how you use it. For some reason though it doesn't seem to be loud enough. is there something in doing wrong?
I’m not sure … there are two volume controls to manipulate- first the volume on the pill itself, then the booth out volume on your controller (if you’re connecting it like I do). It might not be loud enough for you in your environment or with your gear, but for me, for 90% of my events (weddings) it’s great!
Sir first thing i’ll be honest thank you for great great job and also you look been a good DJ to become making this set up idea I am jealous you have the time to set up together everything it’s Beautiful job I hope I can make it and search for all the part added together thanks 🙏 and the way you explain nice and easily I am very not that good with English but you made it everything easily thanks I will start watching all your video how to make it that okay
I never did actually. It worked well and I didn’t have any trouble with the range that I needed for this wireless mic. I’ve since moved onto another case, and now have my antenna mounted.
Thx for this vid. Question...does the fleximount arm tend to bounce when u put pressure on it like when you're typing on the keyboard? Or is it stable?
I hope the foam doesn't press on the platters. IT is well known to destroy the pressure switches used in the platters, back to the original cdj 1000 days
Good point. Yes the foam is pressing on the platters. Never had a problem and didn’t know it affected the CDJ’s. After a year and a half, no issues. (Yet!)
@@SmilestonesDJAdventures No problem, I just pointed it out because of issues in the past, and since the platter technology on these platters is the same as CDJ's. The metal platters are not affected by this.
Hi Kevin, just wondering....how do the microphones sound out of this controller? Do you need to use an external mixer, or is the sound from the microphone’s pretty clear?
do u ever hear clicking or popping when your playing samples or randomly during recording...not sure if its typical with ddj-1000 or if i need a new laptop. any suggestions for a laptop other than an apple
Nope. I would start with the audio sample and music track MP3’s, make sure they are clear and are a high bit rate. Next I’d check your software- if you play the track or sample on your laptop just through the laptop speakers or something, do you get the pops? Essentially try to play the tracks without the DDJ 1000 in the setup. If so you could have software version issue or a sound card audio driver problem. Reinstall or update to try to fix. Next I’d check the cables. I might even just replace instead of check them to start from scratch. Make sure you have a good uncrimped usb cable going into the DDJ. Then make sure your cables going from the DDJ to speakers are in great conditions - ensure you are plugged in all the way making great contact. Try to rule out speakers too - might want to try one at a time or swap out for some other speakers if you have them. Finally ensure you have the newest drivers and OS loaded on your laptop. Just a few ideas to try to help troubleshoot
Not sure what you’re asking about - I extended the half wave antenna with Bnc jumper cables that come with the mic receiver. I extended the DMX antenna with just a normal XLR cable :)
My dmxgo only works with wifi Can you help me out and explain me what I doing wrong? When I’m in my house works fine with the wifi then when I go somewhere else and I can’t get the WiFi nothing works. I need help please 🙏 thank
