I don't want to give my older brother a ounce of respect but god it's tough when he has such a great FC!
Sorry but your brothers cooler
The Jack Nicholson nod gif comes to mind. 😂😂😂
@@asahart2489 hahahaha true
Lol that must has been very difficult for you. Having a brother myself..I cannot imagine doing what you just done. Got to keep him guessing.
@@RobDahm I use that gif on a regular basis
As a previous FC owner i would like to point out that The FC electronics suffer from a severe chronic case of extreme cold solder joints that tend to become problematic over time. I would advise that all the factory electronic modules be taken apart and inspected for broken or half broken solder joints. Pay especially close attention to any area where a connector plugs in. Makes a big difference
The bots went wild on you
Imagine being Google, equipped with some of the most advanced machine learning in the world, and you can't train something to auto-flag bot spam.
It gets worse with stiff suspension too, the vibrations crack the solder. Just as you said, right where the plug goes onto the board, almost impossible to see with the naked eye as well. I had this happen on two different boards on my S13, and one on my MX73.
@@SaintThaG what gives lol
same story with my old jeep, weak solder joints. you really gotta spend a weekend making everything right before you notice all your weird one-off issues go away 😆
I thought the channel came from the promise of the 4 rotor, and now that that is mostly done, we get to harass you until the 6 rotor is done.
Dónde está el 6 rotor dahm? Is it time?
I’m a paid professional tig welder and I have literally never once even thought about drilling the hole after. You learn new things everyday.
Yeah but then it makes it hard to debur. Kinda like how he had a motor fail from alloy shaving going through it. He’s a RUclipsr not a fabricator, don’t ever copy anything he does.
@@TheSKDKNG lmao what a comment
@@TheSKDKNG Yea he is a youtuber who is learning, just like how professionals started off you know .....learning.
@@TheSKDKNG grow up
@@emenesu not an argument
"If she was gonna fail, she would have failed by now....." famous last words hahahahaha. But in all seriousness it's great seeing this car in the mountains and being able to be enjoyed. This is what it was built for.
+1
Still amazed by how far youve come from videos next to the diablo in the garage lol keep it up
Props to Kumho as well, first set of tires I had on my FC. Used to scare the hell out of people with how fast I could take a corner and still stick to the road like glue.
Not quite Toyo , but I've had good luck with Kumho tires myself . Got a set for my cat fish Camaro because they were a good price , and found they worked better than most of the more expensive tires .
Used Bridgestone RE 71 on my FC Turbo , good. Had Nankang on my daily MX 5 ND but shit when wet, have Yokohama Advan 50 something now, better. Worth a try on the RX 7 ...
Me: Damn I got things to do
Rob: *uploads a 30mins+ video*
Me: Those things can wait.....
Same.
😂🤣🤣
Of course you deserve that beautiful FC Rob, look at how far you’ve advanced the Rotary community simply by showing people how to do it where every other rotary shop would keep secrets and not tell people anything. You made rotary’s mainstream in my opinion. I own a rotary because of the confidence you gave me. Thank you rob, I’m a rotary fanatic now!!! I’m now saving to buy either a fc or fd.
Protip: most gauge clusters' fuel gauges have an arrow next to the image of a fuel pump that points to which side the gas cap is on
EDIT: I thought I recognized Baldy!! my old stomping grounds, I recorded some FC flybys years and years ago there xD
Wen Rob uploads I get cozy, (grab my blunt) chill back and watch lol
PS. I love the long format videos man this is my favorite tv show!!!
Aye 🔥🤙🏻
🧐
But this isn't tv tho
dude, i just lift the head of my bed, turn my monitor towards me, and sit back and relax every single time, i could fall asleep to Daddy Dahms voice
@@emenesu no shit
Rob, that engine bay is just absolutely GORGEOUS. @14:39, it's just simple and so perfect.
We could not agree more.
Selling my FC was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. It was one of the most reliable and fun to drive vehicles I've ever had. Sure, it might not have been a 10 Anniversary, but it was amazing! Watching this helps me relive the amazing drives I used to take in it. Thank you, Rob, for this. Someday, I may own one again, but if I don't, I know I can always watch these videos.
Why did you have to sell it? I feel like my car would be my absolute last thing I'd sell
@Webb2800 kids my man. Life was hard and it was the absolutely last thing I sold. 💔
Rob is the daddy of rotors right now, can’t wait for him to start manufacturing at a larger scale and make rotors more common.

I want my car to be rotary powered. I live in Portugal, and 90% of car guys never even heard of a rotary engine
He’s the reason prices sky rocket……
That car is beautiful I’m jealous! A white fc has been my dream car, and hopefully I’ll get one in the future
I'm so down for unedited sunset SoCal cruises with multiple camera angles in the FC! Watching it cruise around and hearing the noises it makes is awesome and extremely satisfying!
Mele is a great company! We use their battery cases a ton in the rally world and they take the abuse.
Kyle thanks for the continued support!
After buying an FC that had sat for 18 years, I learned a hard lesson TWICE with the clutch. Change BOTH the Master and Slave as soon as you got the car.
when i bought my FC as I was driving home I lost the ability to put the car in 1st, and then 2nd. looking at the resevior from the outside it looked full. it was actually just dried residue on the inside of the master! filled it up and it was fine, but the master and clutch and stainless clutch line all came in pretty cheap so I just replaced it all.
@20:00 this is how my first fd sounded. Single turbo whistles. And with twin turbos without the whistles. I think it's a testament to the quietness and high quality filming that lets us hear a real average high hp rotary sound
I love you enthusiasm for your cars and work! When I finally got my dream car (1972 Datsun 240Z) I’m sure I looked just like that! Plus, the “Blade” reference made me smile big time!
I love the constant wining/spooling of turbo at idle…u can hear it 24/7
thank you for keeping the rotatory dream alive, these cars are beautiful.
Finally driving content . Bask in it . It'll be another year till we get it again
Having learned how to drive in a FC from my late father in law, this cars bringing back those memories, I guess it's time to add a FC to the stable next to my turbo 2 FB.
Awesome stuff Rob! Run a MeLe mount with an Antigravity battery on my track car. TONS of weight off the nose and and probably the best part of the engine bay.
Oh hello Matt :)
Great build! Most of the bugs are gone and nothing blew up! Even the flames out the exaust were impressive!
Great video Rob- Remember you have the arrow on the gas gauge showing which side :)
Thought the exact same thing! Come on Rob!!!
A lot of older cars didnt have that, maybe this rx7 did but it started being common until the mid 2000s this car is from the 90s
Rob, here in Belgium gasoline is around 1.650 euro per liter which is around 7.10 dollar per gallon converted (for 95 e10, that is 91 in the US I think). I would gladly fill up there in Cali 😂
I recently changed all my FC's lights to LEDs too a few months ago, I would recommend getting dedicated amber and red LED's for those lights, as the pure white ones shine so bright it washes them out, and you get like brake lights that are pink instead of red, or amber lights that look almost white at night, with a slight tint on the edges of amber.
I love seeing you get to enjoy all your hard work actually driving these builds.
I love Robs steering wheel adjustment, he lowered it and raised it right back to where it was...lol 😆
If the FC does this well, imagine what all this work could do to a Superior Chassis?! Does this mean we FINALLY get another RX-8 video next??
if by superior you mean heavy
That turbo sounds amazing. Even on start up it sounds so angry
Tire width does not equate to grip Rob. It's all about the compound and force over the wheel. A narrow tire actually grips better all things being equal although it's easier to exceed the limits of how much material can absorb the heat and forces.
I love this build! I have never worked on cars before but the fc is my dream car. With how much tuning you do it might be good to get your own dyno in the shop
Something that could help with your aluminum welding, warm up your aluminum before welding. I've seen lots of people use blow touches.
Anyone else more excited for a FC video than for one on the 4-rotor?
✋
Me
The 3 and 4 are cool, but the fc and rx8 are attainable.
Little trick to know what side the fuel cap is on most fuel gauges have a little triangle pointing the direction or the handle of the pump on the picture depicting which side it’s on
This is why you replace everything on 20+ years old car, Rob. Everything down to wheel bearings and brake hoses and lines.
my 2013 jetta just got new wheel bearings but I have 2 sets of what are presumably stock wheel bearings from 2 fc's and the bearings were still great. japanese craftmanship and I'm assuming the fact the most rataries only made it to 150k.
@@Born_Stellar depends on use, too. Salty roads, hot climates, etc kills them early. Some are undersized for racing use.
@Rob Dahm Q: " what side is the gas tank on?" here is a little tip with all cars from my experience, on your dash where the fuel gage is there will be an image of a Petrol Bowser and alongside it a little arrow/triangle and if you follow the direction the point is facing it will lead you to the side you refill your car from.
Showed my wife this, only last week. She has never realised it. I thought everybody knew.
There's infinite sizing for air to air cores. You could open up the hood entrance with a fiberglass hood (keep the original untouched. Arc the hood center up and use a deeper wider rubber flange. Use the surface of the much larger core end tanks to get another inch of depth (thickness) on the core. Area increases exponentially with a cube. LxWxH
I love in Idaho. Went to Wendy's and it was $30 for 2 kids meals a medium baconator meal and another baconator... Times have definitely changed. Rob your content is great and so much information. I have always been a fan of rotory engines. Rx7 exclusively. But as I watch your videos and understand them more and more... I hope I am the proud owner of one some day.
Brother you make me want those Tires!!!! The best Kumho AD I have ever seen....
That mountain segment made me miss all those summer nights when the sun doesn't set and you can drive with your friends all day long. (I live in Finland, now the streets are covered with ice, snow and salt so everyone are just working with their summer cars😂) Awesome video, the atmosphere is weirdly relaxing and somehow nostalgic, hard to put in words but it was a bit different than the other videos🙂
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH 😁😎👍
I just love how Rob progresses rotary engines and turbo technology every single day. And teaching the world that 90's JDM turbo flutter is actually a bad thing... 😇
Came to this after tjs vid and oh my god its such a relief not listening to someone shit on car parts constantly when they don’t understand or act like they dont, absolutely love watching you rob
Put a nice modern air to air intercooler in the stock location with larger intake piping and lean that thing out to 11:0 afr. Just set a boost cut since it’s going to make good steam
That car is just such a peach, and now she's a well behaved peach to boot.
Looking forward to seeing track performance, and what if any additional mods you'll pick for track work once you get comfy with it!
That HKS bird sound is very unique. I used to love it back in the early 2000s. The Greddy stuff was the bomb back then too.
The shots of the FC in the sunset looked straight out of Forza horizon. Perfection
I feel your pain, I had my clutch master shit itself in traffic about 15 min from my house last summer. I was going for a 3~2 downshift when I pushed the clutch in to pull it out of third I heard a pop and and the peddle stuck to the floor. I had to rev match to get it into second so I could get myself off the road and into a parking lot, then when I was pulling into the spot I blipped the throttle and pulled it out of gear on the rebound. Not a bad bit of driving if I may so myself. I had it towed home and took a cab to the dealer to pick up the new master, as my wife was not answering her phone. All said and done, it was down for 3 hours.
So good.
Can’t wait to see a front mount intercooler ❤️
I can't wait for all the rotaries to be perfect so Rob has no choice but to do up the cossie ;)
Damn I miss my FC. Sold it too soon. Great build Rob....again
I love how long and detailed your current videos are! Still annoys me about your endings, but its classic Rob Dahm! Love the creations you're making, but I want to see how clean you can make an LS!!!
He's got the LS from the vette but he wants nothing to do with it
No just no Rob is for Rotary and Rotary only
I hope that you get the factory gauges functioning. To me those factory FC gauges are 👌🏻. I love the huge center tach, Mazda knew what was important
Great video Rob, hook up your stock dials with the fueltech ecu.
I love all of your videos Rob, but this one above most. those timelapses in the back of the FC are awesome
I loved the mountain driving part! Gives off 90s Video Option vibes..
Rob stop teasing us with this, we want the four rotor😂 I’m messin but I’m looking forward to the new wiring setup 😁
I love that wheel and tire combo!!!
Great end to that video lmao. FC is looking awesome Rob, keep it up!
Can't wait to see that thing actually make it to the top of baldy. The last couple miles after icehouse canyon are when it gets serious.
Next project is finding an RX3. No joke, though, the FC and FD are some of my absolute favorite car designs, even if I don't necessarily want the hobby of rebuilding rotary engines every 50-75k miles. I will say, a fun project would really be to build an FC or maybe a MX-5 with an NA Renesis engine. It definitely won't be a performance killer, but it'd be a fun everyday driver since the engine was designed to be more reliable without needing routine rebuilds. It could also be fun to throw a pair of really small turbos at it for an insanely quick boost build and see how much the Renesis can handle boost, but in a car that looks better than the RX-8. If you wanted to get back into piston-powered cars (I know, right?) but wanted something that you could make rev to absolutely insane RPMs, Ford worked with Yamaha back in the late 90's early 00's to make the legendary Duratec 2.5L V6 that, if not limited to protect the accessories run off the crank, could rev to 8700RPM. It also is able to take boost reasonably well. I think it'd make for an insane swap if a new oilpan and bell housing adapter could be made for it to convert it from the typical transverse application to a longitudinal application for installation into a gen1 MX-5. Silky smooth, extremely high revving V6 in a golf-cart sized car? It'd be great fun. A bit counter to your usual antics of rotary-swapping everything, though. The funny part is that it would actually be thematically consistent with the branding, though, since Ford Motor company owned and still owns a stake in Mazda and they have a long history of collaborative vehicle projects from around that time period.
rob discovering the magic of autox/200tw tires on a street car. they grip cold but still handle heat.

Your car looks fantastic it is great to see you with an RX7 that works I guess it's about a year since I've last seen you with a working rotary motor RX7 we all know how rare that is 😂😂 I am confident though , you will figure out how to make these motors worth having other than just being different.
Just stopping by to say THANK YOU!! 🙏🏽
All that power at 0rpm 💯🙌🔥 I'm impressed to say the least
Watching this makes me miss my S5 so much!!!!! This is awesome!!!!!! I’m sold on that turbo!!!
Hey Rob & Isaah you you guys make me a Gleason big runner style turbo manifold for this same turbo to fit my FD that will clear and elite rotary intake system? Would be super pumped if I could have you guys make that!! I’d even fly out there to personally meet and thank you guys and collect it. I’m East coast (NewJersey) keep up the awesome work!!! 👌🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾❤️🔥
I can’t wait to finish my 1988 RX7 build!!!! I’m hyped!!!!!
Dude really like this build.. just a nice clean drive able ride.. a true beauty
This video makes me want to get my FD out of the garage and onto the streets more....and a big single turbo.
Let's go, putting the IE on the map! I'm from Hemet, and my father was born and raised in Corona. Would be cool to see you around there one day!
I love tht FC! I had a white 91 turbo 2 with white wheels. It ran & looked so good!
Polished , yes
Finished,no
I can see it in your eyes…….
You want to look at the log every single time you go wide open throttle
Keep pursuing it man
I love it 👍👍👍👍👍👍
20:20 Pro tip- There will always be an arrow on the fuel gauge indicating which side the fuel filler door is on.
Not always
This video really shows how much you love this shit. Smiling the whole time!
Love the car, great work guys!! Can't wait to see what's next!!
I go to Baldy all the time and love the view, fun taking those turn down hill. But there's another place to have fun, take the 210 east to the 18, there are some fun roads going up the mountain
I liked this video wached it a little more, forgot that I liked it already and went to like it again. Literally can't like this video enough. Well done, love every single second of it.
does the fuel tech not have a very fast closed loop fuel system and long term fuel trim table?
TL;DR - Tune in open loop only, closed loop for daily driving not racing
You generally keep closed loop off while you establish a base map. Once you feel like you have things in a good spot (sub 5% from desired lamda), then you can enable closed loop to look after things for everyday driving. When you're racing or in WOT, the vehicle automatically switches back to open loop, so using your LTFT/STFTs as a crutch for a bad map will result in a blown motor. LTFTs are good to help you identify if your low load portions of your map are too rich/lean if they're learning more than a few % (in OEM trim, once STFT reaches a certain threshold like 10-15% it will then push some of that value to LTFT to reset STFT close to 0 then it'll adjust more. once LTFT hits 20-25%, CELs get thrown)
During the night mountain driving shots I could almost hear the eurobeats intensifying 😂
15:54 15:55 and thats the sound the engine makes when the secondary is suppose to come on. Im not finished with the video but on my fc the injector harness was getting pulled on from the main run of my harness. So i got more slack and re clipped my injector.
Man the 10th anni sounds so beautiful can't wait to get my 13b going, good work man
“I will never get old of that” Rob Dahm 2022
Man I love this build, probably my favorite so far.
Jeez, I used to run up that hill in my truck just to cruise. Watched the sunrise at that small path at 31:11. Absolutely bizarre.
Awesome FT355 hoodie!
And awesome content, as usual :D
I have an S4 FC that I converted to turbo II. Such cool and fun cars. I daily and track mine and it's a blast.
Immense growth in all ways over the last year. To repeat: Came for the C-8, stayed for the engineering.
I love that car. I can't wait to see it at the track
Love watching the car , and love watching my home city’s on RUclips
I always have to think of Troy McClure when Rob introduces himself.
Found myself with closed eyes leaning back listening to the dose 🥰
You work hard enough to deserve everything you get mate. Keep up the graft 👍🏼👍🏼
What you need to do is have Isaiah make a custom intercooler to fit stock location but has good flow...
It’s so surreal hearing THE rob dahm talk about SoCal cities that I live down the freeway from
