In this movie Kara/Supergirl was sort of like Superman's temporary replacement for the short time he wasn't on Earth. Since her stay was only temporarily there would have been no point in bringing alot of attention to her. After all Superman was coming back and as far as he knew he had no living relatives plus he was Earth's hero not Supergirl.

Those 2 truckers did right to not tell anyone they fought against Supergirl and lost or they would've been made laughing stocks.
Losing a fight to someone with superpowers can't be humiliating. Unless of course you picked a fight with them.
