Hello mate - thanks for this. I have just had my fan replaced and the fan was on all the time. I took it back and they fitted another one - same result. I didn't see them use a torque wrench - if they over tightened it could that make the fan on all the time? My van used to be quiet, but now sounds like a jet engine, and is driving me crazy.
Sorry for not getting back to you. No there shouldn't over tighten the bolts as that might strip the threads, and then you have to start messing about re-tapping new blots in. But your viscuos fan shouldn't be noisy, as there no reason for it to be. You should be able to hear the fan kick in (maybe) but no way should it be noisy - no way
Hi I have 409d 1985 Viscous fan is attached to pulley and water pump no nut in front of clutch how would you remove pulley, have all on bench but cant separate pump pulley and clutch Any ideas Thanks Kieron
Hi Kieron. Well without seeing your setup, how did you remove the pully in the first place. as doesn't that have a centre bolt for the pully to be able to be removed. There must be a bolt also for your viscous fan to be removed from the pully. Cheers Jeff
Cracking work she’s going to be a lovely Motorhome
Great informative videos
Question how did you remove the fan
Thanks Kieron
You just undo the allen key bolts, very simple to do
