Thank you for sharing this video. I just got a call from my local Ford service shop informed me about this and I’m taking it in on Monday. Thankfully I have it under warranty. 2019 Ford Ranger.
thank you so much! I’m in my 2024 with less than 100 miles and I noticed it downshifting a little hard. so I looked up break-in. In general stuff when having a new transit, and end up here😢It’s not every time but it’s enough to notice. It’s a beautiful truck, but definitely disheartening at the moment. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video. I had found some posts about this, but a video was helpful. Just picked up a 2020 Ecoboost Premium (no PP package), dealer tried to sell it as turbo lag, but I had a feeling it was transmission.
You're not alone! This is generally a clunky firm transmission. But with the updated CDF drum installed, its unlikely to leave you stranded for a long time.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm late to the game watching it, but it tells me what I need to know when I take the wife's '18 Mustang GT in for the harsh 2-3 and 4-5 shifts in sport mode. And posting the TSB number will help me a ton when I talk with the Service Writer.
You're welcome. They've updated the tsb number since then, but it'll give them direction still. They've got several different tsbs now, depending on the car
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Thanks for the reply, and the update. Me, and the Service Manager at my dealer get along really well, and I'm sure she'll hook me up.
Had a 14 Ram 1500, 23 Grand Cherokee and a 23 Ram 1500. Also had a 19 F150 that I traded in for the 23 Ram. While I didn’t necessarily have transmission failure like some 18 F150 models it still shifted like ass. All of the Stellantis products shifted like butter.
Gm shares the 10 speed 10r80 with Ford. Gms having issues too. Sounds like dodge has the better trans now. Remember when dodge had the worst? Fords 6 speed was a lot better than the 10
Got an extended warranty and took it back couple thousand miles later for this hard 3 to 4 and 4 to 3 shift they just ordered me a new transmission. Pretty happy it’s not a whole back and forth thing
I have a 2019 F-150 Lariat w/ 10 speed. Hard shifting into 3rd and 8th, and sometimes it doesnt go into gear for several seconds which create a slamming effect once engaged. $350 for the inspection, $9,200 repair.
I just took mine to my local dealer. They said it should be covered under Ford Warranty due to a service bulletin, but it’s dependent on the dealerships to approve the warranty claim. They refunded my diagnostic and said they were going to order a new transmission for me. If you didn’t have the work completed, which I assume you did I would take it to another local Ford dealer.
I am experiencing this same issue and the Ford dealership wrote today and said they could not duplicate these problems. They also said the mechanic could not drive the truck home overnight as it is against their policy. They also said this listed protocol (TSB) is no longer in effect and stated the latest TSB is 24-2101 (which I confirmed online). I write this should one of your readers get that same ole tired "We can't duplicate this issue" dodge from their dealership.
I just bought a 2019 ford ranger with 59k miles. Thank god I found this issue I'm at 59887 miles and they issues me a cdf repair on it... I bought it preowned with no warranty hoping the 100k warranty was good. Apparently it dropped to 60k.. and hopefully that fixes MY new truck...
Got mine at 17500 and have had issues now to 43k, but only bought it because it was gold certified with 7 year 100k ESP powertrain. It's going in this week to start the TSB, neutraling into 4th feeling like the engine stalled is getting very old, and it has shifted so hard from drive to reverse when trying to straighten up in a parking garage spot that it lurched past me holding with the brakes and almost hit the wall behind me.
having this issue but its weird bc it only happens when i put the shifter in S instead of D it kind of hesitates to go into 2nd and gears 3,4,5 shift very harsh to the point where it shakes the whole car. doesn't happen when i drive on D. i have a 2022 mustang gt
I’m getting a noticeable shift in normal mode in my 2022 10spd when going from 3-4 4-5 all other gears I cannot feel it shift. Should I show them this tsb?
From the way it seems, Alot of C.D.F Drums need to be replaced in the 10 speed Ford Rangers and F150's. That sounds like it should be a Recall if it's happening to alot of there trucks and they need to replace them all without us having to pay for it.
My 10r80 In my mustang gt is really bad going into 3rd from 2nd and going into 5th from 4th. Also downshifting is harsh for every gear under 5th. Downshifting into 1st on videos seems seamless however in my car it will chirp the rear tires and the whole car jerks uncontrollably for a moment and that happens at 10 to 15mph. I’m bringing it in for tsb 22-2139 I’m hoping that this fixes the issue. We will see
@@Lost2060 Ford dealers in my area told me that if would cost me between 2000 and 3000 for repairs even with the TSB since my car was out of warranty. They had to keep the car 2 days to even look at it and it cost me 150 for the Main Shop Diagnosis. I did get a Transmission Fluid and Filter service done at a different dealer and never asked about the TSB. I also got the manager to flash in new TSP (transmission shift program) from a 2023 10 speed file. They did both at the same time and she now shifts like new and shes at 87000 miles. They also only charged me 1 hour of labor to flash the tsp in. 300 for the fluid and filter service, 150 for the tsp. Total is 450. Good luck
My 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite needed a new transmission at about 50,000 miles. It always shifted harshly, but went kaput after about 3 1/2 years. The new transmission shifts hard, too, but nothing like the original one. Pretty ridiculous in a $50,000 car.
I know that this is not a new video, but my 2019 F150 is slipping going into first with acceleration. It hard slams into reverse since I bought it pretty much but this is 75,000 miles later it shifts hard from 4 to 5 but the slipping in first gear is new, very sketched out but don’t have a warranty on it anymore so not sure what the best move is.
I would let ford look at it so you at least have a better idea of what's going on. I bet the cdf bushing is starting to shift. If that's the case they'll let you know. Then you can plan on a rebuild
I'm just starting this battle with my ford dealer. My vehicle is still under warranty. Can i just tell them to replace the CDF drum and valve body and get this over with without multiple trips to the dealer?
@contractor556 They did do something, I got to find out what exactly. When I picked it up, it was after hours, so I didn't speak to anyone. It upshift better, but down shifts are not 100%. I got to carry it back to them.
I'm going to fix my title. This applies to the 10r60 and 10r80. You should be fine, might get firm shifts - but that can be fixed with a scan tool usually. In rare instances the CDF drum can fail but you should be fine. Some of the earlier 10r140s had a planetary recall that's about it
