The most incredible thing was the fact that during the handover ceremony was near 5 on morning in Moscow and they are in a live broadcasting in a time who the tecnology was not advanced as today. This made a big impact.
Magnificent closing ceremony of the 1976 Montreal Olympics in which Hasley Crawford won the gold medal in the Men's 100 meters, the first (1st) Olympic gold 🥇 medal for Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Awesome as a possum with a blossom footage!!!! This is the first time in 47 years and 112 days (#PinesAutism) that I've seen this ABC Television coverage of the Games of the 21st Olympiad--The Montreal Games!! Thank you for showing this to us!!!! :) :) :) :)
Thank you very much for posting. Watched it live way back... The streaker was so common in those days that I forgot all about it. But the Moscow scene was powerful.
A big Thank You to Mickey's Media!! I've been looking for the 1976 Montreal Closing Ceremony for everrrrr!! I remember the Indian tribes coming out and that Indian music is awesome! I think this was the best closing ceremony of them all. Maynard Ferguson's haunting solo as the flame was extinguished unforgettable. Jim Mckay's commentary was the best!
Thanks for digitizing this and posting it. At age 8 I recorded parts of this ceremony on an audio cassette and listened to it for the next year... so it is fun to hear (and see) again! Was this on a 3/4" tape originally?
Thank you I saw multiple times of Montreal 76 opening Ceremony on various RUclips channels now I finally going to see the closing ceremony of Montreal 19:27 and I know Jon naber 84 Olympics flag carrier
The 'controversy' Drapeau 'suffered' was self-inflicted, the residents of Montreal, surrounding townships and Province of Quebec suffered a lot more and a lot longer for the little mayor getting his monument the Big Owe.
You know it got me thinking what if the games of 76 was in a alternate universe instead of Montreal what if it’s was in my city LA for the bicentennial year imagine that as for Montreal well they will hosted in 84 and of course Moscow will be in 80
J'yeesh, I remember much of this...the streaker; Lord Killanin imperiously declaring the Games "closed"; the satellite feed from Moscow ---all that and a bunch of free chow under the Golden Arches for a few weeks in midsummer

Been trying to find a video of the FULL 1976 Opening Ceremony from Montreal.
In Chile, these Olympic Games were broadcast jointly by National Television (TVN) and Channel 13 of the Catholic University (TVUC).

How had I forgotten that there was a streaker? 70's was a crazy time.

Around the 11:30, Jim McKay acknowledges that a streaker has interrupted the closing ceremonies.

suffered a lot more and a lot longer for the little mayor getting his monument the Big Owe.
thank you for this video! 1976 Montreal Olympics were the best games ever.
And Moscow 1980 too
More better than Munich 1972 with tragedy
And LA 1984 too
Montreal 1976 Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984 are the best vintage Olympics

Does anyone know why the stadium grass was bare during the closing ceremony?
Horses tore it up. They held equestrian competitions throughout the day. McKay mentions it at the beginning.
38:51
44:32 for Maynard Ferguson's solo.
You don’t happen to have ABCs coverage from the Innsbruck Winter Olympics from that year?
I don't
Montreal Kanada ist Kult Gruß Patrick
