Speaking of the Force Unleashed. I'll be working on a video defending Galen Marek. I just need a source that talks about the games and canon. I know the games were canon, but only the story was, not the gameplay footage and game mechanics. I can't seem to find a source where Lucasfilm talks about this.
In a 2017 Star Wars insider they confirmed the comics were once canon. I' surprised a source from modern Lucasfilm would say something like that. I'll have to find the quote for you.
@@jedibattlemasterkos I found it. Here is what the Insider issue from 2017 said. “Star wars legends epic collection: the rebellion volume 2 is mammoth 488-page paperback reprinting some of the stories published under star wars saga’s former comic book canon.” -Star Wars Insider #172 2017
@@ironinquisitor3656 it says comic book canon which aren’t the movies though, canon doesn’t mean they should still be in continuity, but it’s quite clear the legends stories as they are would not be fully assimilated into a next movie should George have created one, hence they aren’t starwars movie mainline canon, it’s an irrelevant argument though as the issue isn’t canon, it’s that the books were DISCONTINUED. There’s no new legends content, that’s where the ire is, not whether the comics are an alternate universe of sorts, which they always were.
@@sincorazon9920 I agree with the lack of continuation but you're wrong on everything else. As for your "comic book canon" argument, hierarchy of canon, which they used before 2014. The comics were still canon but had less weight compared to the movies. I deal with a lot of the arguments and misconceptions here: ruclips.net/video/ZhTN1yTiYgI/видео.html
George’s sequel trilogy wouldn’t have been beholden to the EU stories whatsoever. He would’ve basically disregarded them entirely as if they don’t exist. What would y’all have said ? Berate him like y’all did because of the prequels?
Fact is, Lucasfilm said the EU wasn't canon as early as 1991... in the fan club magazine and in the fine print of the WEG RPG gamebooks. Hardly mainstream. The cover of the first edition of _Heir to the Empire_ contained the tagline, "The saga continues!" What was any casual consumer (or in my case, kid) just getting into _Star Wars_ at the time supposed to believe but that these were official stories? And if it was always just licensed fanfiction, then why bother with that level of consistency control? Why specify clearly that the _Infinities_ series was completely uncanonical? I'll tell you why: Because Lucas played with one foot on each side of the fence. It was semi-canonical when it helped him build the brand. It wasn't canon as soon as he wanted to profit off it more directly. All while his company claimed they would do better than _Star Trek_ and _Alien_ . Lies, all of it.
3:21 LMFAO imagine trying to say to ANY Star Wars fan in 2010 that the EU wasn't canon 😂😂😂😂 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Chosen One 🤡
@Chosen One If it's not Canon, why did Disney have to decanonize them?
@@anti-dreamstansunited3391 cause others were getting paid for books they made, they aren’t Disney so obviously you would sweep the leftovers
Shut your mouth stupid True Fans could love and hate whatever they want and me and other Fans prefer Legends/EU as True Canon.
In a recent interview, Matthew Stover said “Back then there weren’t any canon wars. It was all canon. Everything published was canon.”
if a story is canon in a forest and nobody is around and Lucas ignores, contradicts it, and overwrites it at will...was it ever actually canon?
@@antieverything1 Disney hoes mad. 😏
I'm using that statement in a response to an article I'm working on.
If I had a helicopter lightsaber for everytime someone said the eu wasn't canon

Ngl, even if george never considered it canon, I honestly don't care, its still better than disney garbage.
Thing is, HE LITERALLY DID lol it just wasn't his main focus. It wasn't HIS story to tell.
@@jedibattlemasterkoshe literally told he did not consider it and even other staff told the same thing that EU is not canon
Disney star wars is soulless poorly written inconsistent and with alot of continuity problems

That is true, but that doesn't mean the EU wasn't canon. Everything that was canon in the EU remained canon unless George retconned it.
