Unfortunately the problem can't be fixed. From my perspective it seems pretty clear that pushing a woke progressive agenda was the primary motivation for the disney-star wars buyout. I'm not holding out any hope for this problem to be fixed anytime soon. Star wars has too many eyes on it at the moment. The brand has to die in the mainstream and lose its credibility with the normie audience before disney will consider focusing on the core fan demographic. As far as they're concerned they already got your money, and as long as normies keep watching ahsoka they dont need to appeal to the long time fans.

Fact is, Lucasfilm said the EU wasn't canon as early as 1991... in the fan club magazine and in the fine print of the WEG RPG gamebooks. Hardly mainstream. The cover of the first edition of _Heir to the Empire_ contained the tagline, "The saga continues!" What was any casual consumer (or in my case, kid) just getting into _Star Wars_ at the time supposed to believe but that these were official stories? And if it was always just licensed fanfiction, then why bother with that level of consistency control? Why specify clearly that the _Infinities_ series was completely uncanonical? I'll tell you why: Because Lucas played with one foot on each side of the fence. It was semi-canonical when it helped him build the brand. It wasn't canon as soon as he wanted to profit off it more directly. All while his company claimed they would do better than _Star Trek_ and _Alien_ . Lies, all of it.
