      Killswitch Sevenfold That’s what would make such a lie especially appalling, that he wasn’t so dense to have not understood that. Doing the show gave a new generation an appreciation for him, and that statement was alienating (no double entendre intended 😄).
      Not that “The Church” would’ve taken this approach, but it would’ve endeared people so much more if they just saw his being in on the joke. People really soften to someone who can laugh himself. And a lot of people will rattle off the entire gamut of jokes about their own religions. They’re the ones who will introduce you to the jokes, because they’re firm in their beliefs and unshaken by a little humor.

      Killswitch Sevenfold OK, I just found this quote from Isaac Hayes III from Tony Ortega’s site The Underground Bunker: “Isaac Hayes did not quit South Park; someone quit South Park for him. What happened was that in January 2006 my dad had a stroke and lost the ability to speak. He really didn’t have that much comprehension, and he had to relearn to play the piano and a lot of different things. He was in no position to resign under his own knowledge. At the time, everybody around my father was involved in Scientology - his assistants, the core group of people. So someone quit South Park on Isaac Hayes’ behalf. We don’t know who.”

Years later, I find it here. I finally get context to that.

      When Christianity was changed and splintered into a bunch of different denominations the town of Munster adopted their own version that devolved to the point where it was basically a harem for the town elders. Younger men were killed or driven out while the elders took many young wives including children. Any dissent was met with torture/execution. Some seriously twisted shit went down. Fanaticism + Isolation + Charismatic leaders.
      Eventually it got so bad that the German military showed up, surrounded the town, and starved them out. Basically the entire town was massacred down to the last man, woman and child. The leaders of the rebellion were tortured to death and hung in cages for all to see as a warning.
      So yeah. Germany has some history with religions going rogue and causing serious problems.

Now when people attack those kinds of things they risk losing their job, getting ostracized online by the rapid far left twitter cult and getting doxed, harassed, etc.
      The irony with far lefties is that they still believe they are "the rebels", the ones that attack the system, meanwhile their ideology is backed by the Democratic Party that holds full power in politics atm and by just about all the richest most powerful businesses including all of big tech. Watch the "Infiltrating scientology" videos that came out recently. Its by a couple dude bros, but it was very well made. It is what started me on this rabbit hole. The part that freaks me out a bit more is that the main dude gets brainwashed, and cant remember actual events of his life because it got changed from a 10 hour session of what is clearly brainwashing. He had to be told the correct series of events by his friend to actually claim the real memories back, and even then he cant remember the original story as well as he can the changed one.

    After a year or so of my involvement, it had devolved into shouting in-group memes and screaming them at a building.
    It had become a victim of it's own initial success as cliques formed and infighting began within its own internal structure.
    We thought we were internet super-heroes, but most of us were bored kids wanting to belong to something bigger than ourselves.
    The goal was pure and well intentioned, but the CoS saw us street kids for what we were, and waited us out until we got bored.
    To this day, I wish that I'd been brave enough to take further steps against the 'Church', but I had a life to build, and couldn't dedicate more of myself to the cause.

    Little story about my own encounter with Scientology here:
    I work at a grocery store, and we have a bunch of magazines of course.
    Well the title of one of the news magazines articles we had was "My Life in Scientology Hell".
    And that was plastered in gold bold on the front cover.
    A lady comes up to my line and asks to speak to a manager with this stern, and clearly offended voice.
    I didn't resist her at all.
    Believe me I thought she was being way too sensitive saying that having Scientology and Hell in the same sentence was some how discriminatory towards here belief (she was a Scientologist).
    I saw nothing wrong with it, Hell was being used as an adjective to compare being part of Scientology to subjecting oneself to eternal condemnation.

      @Zero Cool not in the same way. Take for example Christianity (just an obvious pick-and im not including those TV evangelicals who say they need a plane to spread the word, just plain old Christianity I'm speaking about) they ask for money yes, in the form of donations but the crucial difference is if you want you can find out all you want about Christianity and not pay a penny, with Scientology your not allowed to "go up a level" and find out the next part of the religion (which is purposely kept secret) until you pay them, and for each level the payment gets larger and larger-thats a big part of why their claims of being a religion is just laughable and also why they desperately don't want to lose that tax exempt status

    • @teethgrinder83
      @teethgrinder83 6 лет назад +2

      @Zero Cool oh for sure they all ask for money I just think that Scientology is in a different league altogether. I mean the local church in the village my parents live in here in Scotland is pretty old and in bad need of renovation, it's the Church of Scotland so it's protestant so they can't go to the pope for money that's for sure, so they are asking parishioners for money to help rebuild it. I just want to say here that I'm an Atheist and frankly I think when we are dead then that's it, game over-but i don't see a problem with asking for money from believers, what bothers me is where the money goes, how it's used etc..and that's why I think Scientology is in a very different level of abusing their believers

    A pretty important part that you missed about their tax exempt status is that it WAS removed back in the 60s by the IRS, but the church sent thousands of legal threats to the IRS, even having members move to other states just to sue them from there, because the IRS legally had to respond. Eventually, the IRS reinstated their tax exempt status, and all the suits were dropped in the 90s

    Southpark spent a decade clowning Christianity and Islam but Isaac Hayes claimed religious intolerance when the satire applied to him. That tells you all you need to know about religion right there.

      Isaac Hayes is just a hypocrite. Don't lump every religious person in that group with him. I'm a Christian and I am a fan of South Park. I don't care for a few episodes, but I respect the creators and don't bitch about them.

      The church of scientology strongarms its members into presenting themselves in particular ways through active blackmail and other threats. It's easy to call him a hypocrite or other things while not knowing the circumstances behind the statement.

    I was around when all this stuff was going on and while I kept track of what was happening I never had any intention of showing up to anything in real life, I was just mildly interested in what was happening and curious about the outcome. A few months later when I'd kinda lost interest I saw an ad in the paper when I was looking for jobs asking to hire someone to "play bagpipes badly for 4hrs for a protest" and they were offering $80 to do it. My dad happened to have bagpipes, I had no idea how to play bagpipes at all but I could make them emit a terrible sound which was kinda what the ad was calling for so I called the number and was told where and when to show up. I didn't put together in my head it was the Scientology protest, I honestly didn't care what it was for I was just interested in the $80.
    When I got there and saw the Guy Fawkes masks it all clicked, and I had second thoughts about participating but decided I wanted the $80 more than I didn't want to participate in the protest. A guy ended up walking out of the Church building while we were out front and he started taking pictures of my face as one of the few people who wasn't wearing any type of mask - I just ignored him which seemed to make him angry. He got closer to me and took more pictures and said "If you don't stop playing those bagpipes I'll make sure you regret it for the rest of your life" or something along those lines. That really pissed me off, that this man would try and threaten and intimidate me like that while taking my picture. I told him I don't respond well to threats and that he would do best to go back in the church and leave me the fuck alone before I lost my temper. He laughed and went back inside. I was angry enough that I played bagpipes there another 5 times over the next 5 months of protests for free, protests I never had any intention of attending, that I almost walked away from despite being offered money to participate.
    After that interaction with that man I read more and more about Scientology and it just clicked in my head how they operated and how incredibly fucked up the way they tried to control people was. I started to understand how these people got trapped in a religion that I initially thought they must all be dumbasses for joining. I started to see that if they had got me at the right time of my life, and got me to invest enough money in it that I could be a Scientologist myself. Instead of feeling like their members should be ridiculed like I had in the past, I instead felt sorry for them. I reserved my hatred for those in power at the church, and those who did shady things on behalf of the church (ridiculous lawsuits and legal threats, dealing with "suppressive persons" via threats and intimidation etc) rather than the vast majority of members who basically have no idea that stuff even goes on.

      StreakyBaconMan there is one "mistake" in your thought... Yes, you can "feel sorry" for The members. But many of them have been involved in criminal incidents... Also ask yourself, How can someone, who was a sci Member for his whole life, WHO never visited a public School, or university, Show never worked outside of The organization, WHO earned like 5-10 Dollars a week for over 50 Hours of labour... How can someone like this get out of The organization and be able To find a House To Rent and WHO buys a car...? Something doesnt make Sense To me.

    • @StreakyBaconMan
      @StreakyBaconMan 5 лет назад

      @@meinname5788 I specifically said that I reserved my hatred towards those in power and those that did shady things on behalf of the church. Most members don't believe that anything shady goes on, and they don't personally do anything wrong - they just have the mistaken belief that those who run the church are honest and don't lie to them about these things. Those are he people I feel sorry for.
