how can you make this video without watching "rampart" once at least?... maybe you should review it, make a little (or big) video about it... that'd be nice.
In a parallel universe, this video is about a Woody Harrelson AMA where he desperately tried to tell reddit about his life experiences, but everyone just kept asking him about Rampart.
Some guy: "What's your favorite food?" Woody: "My character in Rampart loves pizza. It's a very intense and challenging meal. I can really sink my teeth into that."
"Hey Woody, what's your favorite color?" "You know I really like the color blue, it shows up in Rampart a lot, it's really a core component of the film. A really good thing about Oren is that he puts colors into his films.
I'll never forget Tommy Wiseau's AMA where he went off on someone named Victoria and exclaimed "I am America!" randomly. I think he meant to say "American," but I just imagined him shouting this at some random passerby and laughed.
Poor guy probably thought it was just a regular interview. Gives the most generic cookie cutter PR responses. Had no idea what he was doing. I almost feel bad.
The Tonight Show comparison was spot on. That said even in promotional interviews they may ask off the cuff questions to not make it look like a promotion. Woody not being able to handle that in 2012 is baffling.
Once he admitted he never knew what reddit was and said that he’s trying basically confirms that. At first I thought he was just being stubborn but then I felt really bad. He really didn’t know what he was getting into.

I feel kinda bad for Woody, he was just trying to sell a movie. But, he did not understand what a Reddit AMA was all about. Not to mention he was probably at the end of a many hours long press tour (ie cycling through morning shows and phone interviews, likely talking to dozens of people).. Clearly he was told that Oren's AMA had done so well that he had to do one too, unfortunately he just was not coached/prepped for what it would entail. He should've been provided some sample AMAs so he could prepare.. That, or, whoever organized it should've specified that Woody had limited time and would be unable to give detailed answers to questions about his previous work.
It’s not that hard to read subreddit rules or look at top posts, just because he’s an old fart doesn’t excuse the fact he was being dumb as hell and thought he could shill his movie. I don’t feel bad for multi-millionaires.
Reddit had no impact on its performance. It's another one of those movies you see in the line up and the only reason to watch it is because nothing good is really playing. The majority of movie goers do not use reddit.
Having a celebrity trying to do an AMA, only to have someone immediately sour the mood and foreshadow what was to come by asking “hey did you take the virginity of a girl in my high school?” is the most Reddit thing to ever happen.
I actually watched the movie on Netflix long before learning about this AMA, and was honestly underwhelmed. I was barely able to follow any cohesive main plotline, the main character is a truly unlikable person, and any attempt at making a relevant point felt watered down to the point of confusion. If, somehow, Woody Harrelson ever decides to do another AMA, please people, we HAVE to only ask questions about his 2012 Magnum Opus known as Rampart. Don't ask a single other question. Only questions about Rampart.

Hey Woody, I've just built a wicked Skateboard ramp with my brother, we were thinking it looked a bit plain and needed some individuality and colour on there, would you recommend anything?
I love how you explain the background behind so many internet phenomena! Things I only kinda knew about are suddenly getting a lot more filled out. What a great channel!
I can totally see how this happened. Some PR person told Woody to host an AMA to promote the film. He's way to fulfilled and successful to be a Reddit user; why wouldn't he assume questions were meant to be about the film?
ElysetheEevee ElysetheEevee I'll be specific. Knowing how to get a job. Knowing how to survive without government intervention. Knowing how to live on their own. Knowing what gender they are. Oh, but they don't know how to make a meme so they are a waste of human life. Good grief. I hate to break it to you but "dropping like flies" is what the Millennials will be doing in about 40 years.
Is dat some Sailor Moon Another Story music in the BGM? damn dude, you have taste. If you're interested, the old team got back together and re-translated the game very recently. It's more understandable now. you're the man now dog.
Hey Woody, what's your favorite NES game from the 80s? Woddy: It's the game with a giant lizard, wolf and monkey where you destroy cities. I think it's called Rampart.
I saw that God awful movie the night it premiered with two friends and this older guy who was "saving a seat for his girlfriend" who kept joining our conversations. All for the memes
I like how some people did ask him questions about his career and not about his private life and he was still talking about rampart like that is the only movie he ever did lmfao.
Before the internet: "Wow that Actor/Musician/TV Star is a god. I'd really like to meet them one day." After the internet: "Ahhh shit." Very young people won't know what is was like not to know a damn thing about famous people.
@overclockeador Everyone seems to buy Keanu Reeves' public persona. (Not saying he isn't a decent guy, but the saint-like image projected of him can't be that accurate.)
A friend of mine met Liam Neeson when he was filming in Turkey. The guy was sort of fed up by the end, but took his time to individually talk to everyone who wanted an autograph and gave them out plenty. Very pleasant dude, my friend said.
The answers really sound like somebody reading the questions aloud to Woody and then transcribing his answers to the best of their ability. There are lots of half-formed thoughts and ellipses that I think would occur in a transcription of a spoken answer, but don't naturally occur in somebody typing their answers out.
This is the first time I’ve heard of ‘Rampart’ I’m not saying I’m important but seriously, maybe it flopped because not enough people even heard about it.
8:34 To be fair, he probably mentioned his family having a strong bond because acting does take over his life for a little bit and it probably was supposed to be read like "It does take over my life, but it doesn't really hinder my family"
If you want to see how an AMA is supposed to be done, Ashens did one about 7 years ago that was pure perfection! Honest answers and his personality shown through.
" So you don't actually enjoy acting? " Woody: I do but when I try to talk about a project that has encapsulated my whole life for the better part of a year, and that I'm really proud of people seem to not care.
I know right, it may be an AMA but that doesn't mean he has to answer it in the way you want him to. He wants to talk about the movie, because like you said, it has been part of his life for the last year. People on the internet can be so entitled. Also considering he had a limited time to answer the questions, and he had already gone into reddit with the mindset that he would be answering questions about the movie(given his past experiences with interviews); and when he was asked super off the cuff questions like "Hey you know that girl you slept with, what's up with that" it probably threw him for a loop and left him scrambling to get back on topic so he could still remain professional like you would in a normal interview. It all comes back to some, not all, people not thinking about what it's like to be the other guy.
@@SergioSanchez-fn6su I get that, don't get me wrong. I can understand that this may be the closest some people get as fans to ask him questions that they want to know the answer to. This, however, does not mean they are going to get the answers they want, nor does it guarantee that they will be answered at all. That is the risk that comes with this method that, generally speaking, does not arise from other forms of interview. Painful as it may be, the closest some people come may not be close enough. This does not mean that we as fans are entitled to a response, nor does it mean we are entitled to nothing. The problem arises when a person enters the fold with questions they know may have the potential to disrupt and derail the conversation. Then this is confounded when some people, either justly or unjustly, aren't satisfied with the response they receive, and they lash out at the person answering the questions due to frustration. The problem is that for the most part although it may seem like a dialog from the perspective of the person asking questions, these aren't interpersonal interactions; we are potential a consumer of his product, in this instance. While some entertainers may choose to divulge more personal information, they wittingly or not, run the risk of alienating potential consumers.
@@hyliandragon5918 It was literally an "ask me anything"; it is not "entitlement" to expect questions to actually be answered. He answered one non-Rampart question well.
@@hoodedman6579 Woody Harrelson is a seasoned actor; I am certain he has done many interviews, and one thing you may notice is that actors reserve the right to answer the questions however they may choose to. Be it refraining from answering leading, or potentially defamitory questions; if in the beginning of an interview someone asked you a question that is both would you not after that proceed with caution. You bring up a good point that he did in fact answer a question not related to the film, that question was also not either of those things. Breaking what I've said down; I'm basically saying he can answer any question he wants any way he wants and that his job is to get people in seats for that movie, and his particular way of doing so was extremely heavy handed, which is to be expected as he seemed in every interaction to answer like he was being interviewed on camera. This comes together with the fact that in a regular interview rarely are the questions asked as if it's only for that interviewer, thus this does not a favorable situation make and people's failure to see that is why it ended up a shit show.

It’s ask me anything. ANYTHING. Not ask me anything about rampart. Lol I think he would’ve been better off just doing a late night show

I'd like to talk about or lord and saviour rampart.
How does this not have enough likes lmao
I love how you explain the background behind so many internet phenomena! Things I only kinda knew about are suddenly getting a lot more filled out. What a great channel!
I can totally see how this happened. Some PR person told Woody to host an AMA to promote the film. He's way to fulfilled and successful to be a Reddit user; why wouldn't he assume questions were meant to be about the film?
you getting any closer to that camera and you might get slapped with a few dozens paternity suits

Boomers don't know how to Reddit, Millennials don't know how to Life. Oh, but it's the boomers that are poor and clueless 😒🙄🤣

Does that count if boomers are dropping like flies? I think you need to specify what “knowing how to life” entails lol.

Did you know that woody Harrelsons dad admitted to being the killer of JFK, he was arrested with a gun close to where JFK was killed.
Rampart
I thought Ted Cruz' dad did that?
what does this have to do with rampart?
(He was also high on cocaine)
His dad was an assassin, murdered lots of people. And yes, I also heard he was involved in the JFK killing.
Is dat some Sailor Moon Another Story music in the BGM? damn dude, you have taste. If you're interested, the old team got back together and re-translated the game very recently. It's more understandable now. you're the man now dog.
Woah! Really?! I haven't played that game in more than a decade.
Man, I knew that sounded familiar. I just assumed it was another piece from Illusion of Gaia, as he has been using that score a lot.
He probably asked "what do I do on here?" and the director was like "talk about rampart"
Hey Woody, what's your favorite NES game from the 80s?
Woddy: It's the game with a giant lizard, wolf and monkey where you destroy cities. I think it's called Rampart.

He was probably told by his agent that AMA was where he would answer questions about the movie. It wasn't his fault (Most likely)

Redditor: "Hey, I cant wait to see your newest movie Rampart."
Woody: "CHEERS."
Great use of the Beavis and Butthead videogame soundtrack!
You're a man of culture
If 'for the meme of it' was actually a motivator that could make a blip in a movies attendance, Snakes On A Plane would have out-grossed Avatar.
Mr. Rogers always answered his fan mail.
A definitely realistic standard that I absolutely believe all celebs should hold up, without exception
Reddit: Did you hook up with Rhea Pearlman on the set of Cheers?
Woody: Rampart.

A lesson as old as time. Never meet your heroes.
I know it's lowkey tarded to bring up, but genuinely love your background setup

The answers really sound like somebody reading the questions aloud to Woody and then transcribing his answers to the best of their ability. There are lots of half-formed thoughts and ellipses that I think would occur in a transcription of a spoken answer, but don't naturally occur in somebody typing their answers out.
You're absolutely right. It reads like a transcript.

“can acting take over your life?” “i have 3 daughters and so does dave brown so yeah”
Me: Wow this rampart must be some movie
IMDB: 5.8/10
Anyone can write reviews on Imbd.
The movie is a 7 easily.
This video is (allegedly) about RAMPART
" So you don't actually enjoy acting? "
Woody: I do but when I try to talk about a project that has encapsulated my whole life for the better part of a year, and that I'm really proud of people seem to not care.
Hylian Dragon or he could have just told the truth and been genuine
“Hello woody what made you decide to run the Boston marathon?”
